Neuroscientist: How Prayer Can Lead to Miraculous Healings
2026/10/06
A story about someone being healed by prayer is one thing. Medical records documenting an extraordinary recovery are another.
Dr. Joshua Brown, a neuroscientist at Indiana University, has spent years investigating what happens when those two things meet. His team has examined medical records, consulted specialists, and published cases of recoveries they could not explain.
But confirming that someone recovered is not the same as knowing what caused it. Belief, expectation, and human connection all deserve serious consideration before we reach for a supernatural explanation. Brown’s research asks how far those explanations can take us—and what remains unresolved.
To make sense of it, we follow five clues:
• Three extraordinary recoveries after prayer—and the medical evidence behind them
• What the placebo effect reveals about the power of belief, and whether it can explain these cases
• What happened when researchers compared five minutes of prayer with relaxing music
• The overlooked connection between all three healings: none happened alone
• And the loss that forced Brown to confront what happens when healing never comes
This conversation takes both the remarkable recoveries and the unanswered prayers seriously. It examines what can be documented, what remains a matter of interpretation, and why the distinction matters to anyone searching for hope.
Together, those clues lead to a much bigger question:
Could some of these recoveries be evidence that God actually heals people in response to prayer?

Gut Doctor: How Looking At Your Poop Can Save Your Life
2026/09/29
Most of us flush without looking.
But your poop is one of the few health signals your body gives you every single day. Changes in its color, shape, consistency, frequency, or the presence of blood can offer clues about everything from your liver and gallbladder to inflammation, digestive disease, and colorectal cancer.
And some of the warning signs are not as obvious as people think. Blood is not always red. White stool can signal a problem with bile flow. And sometimes the most important clue is simply that something has changed from what is normal for you.
Dr. Karan Rajan is a gut doctor and one of the world’s largest health and science creators. In this episode, he helps us understand what the toilet can actually tell us about what is happening inside the body.
To make sense of it, we follow five clues:
• What your poop can reveal about colorectal cancer and other serious conditions
• Why what is “normal” can look radically different from person to person
• What constipation, diarrhea, bloating and farting can reveal about your gut
• Why blood is not always red, and what color, shape and texture can tell you
• And what your brain, stress and sleep have to do with all of it
Together, those clues lead to a surprisingly important question:
What is your body already telling you that you may be flushing away?

This One Discovery Proved The Afterlife Exists
2026/09/22
For most of modern history, the afterlife was treated as something you could believe in, but never prove.
Then near-death research produced one finding that changed the entire conversation.
Millions of people have reported leaving their bodies during near-death experiences. And here’s the fascinating part: some came back with specific information about the physical world that could be verified by doctors, nurses, witnesses, and medical records.
That is where the subject becomes much harder to dismiss.
The book we cover today, The Self Does Not Die, represents a culmination of decades of that research.
It gathers some of the strongest cases from across hospitals, countries, and the scientific literature and places them side by side.
So today's episode investigates what happens when an experience reported by millions begins producing information people seemingly had no physical way to know.
Because the real power of this book is not one impossible story.
It is that the same finding keeps appearing under radically different conditions.

Sex Neuroscientist: Why We're Having Less Sex Than Ever
2026/09/15
Sex has never been more visible.
And yet, we have become the least sexual generation in modern history.
Pornography is instantly available. Dating apps offer billions of swipes. Sexual norms are more permissive than ever. But partnered sex is falling, younger generations are dating less, and many people young report having had no sex in the previous year.
Dr. Debra Soh is a neuroscientist who has spent years studying human sexuality and has been following this “sex recession” since the earliest research began documenting it over a decade ago.
To understand how a culture this obsessed with sex ended up having so little of it, we follow five clues:
• Why sexual inactivity is rising even as sex becomes more culturally visible
• How dating apps created more options but surprisingly little real-world connection
• Why pornography may be replacing some of the motivation required for partnered sex
• What AI companions like Bobby reveal about outsourcing intimacy itself
• And the deepest paradox of all: what we may have lost when we rejected the old rules around sex and relationships
Together, those clues point toward a much bigger question: How did a generation with more access to sex than any before it become so disconnected from actually having it?

Child Therapists: Why Modern Parenting Is Backfiring
2026/09/08
Parents have never had more information about how to raise emotionally healthy children.
We know more about anxiety, trauma, validation and how profoundly childhood can shape the person someone becomes.
And yet, something strange is happening at the same time.
Young people are increasingly afraid of ordinary milestones. An increasing number don't move out of their childhood home until after age 30. Therapists are seeing children describe normal conflict as “toxic,” ordinary worry as anxiety, and difficult emotions as emergencies.
And parents, terrified of getting it wrong, are stepping in earlier and more often to make sure everything turns out okay.
Sissy Goff and David Thomas have spent more than three decades counseling children, teenagers, and families. Their concern is not that parents care too much. It is that some of our best instincts may be producing an unintended consequence: children who feel deeply understood, but increasingly unsure they can handle life without us.
To understand how we got here, we follow five clues:
• Why 49% of people under 30 still live with their parents
• How parents begin managing outcomes as early as age three
• What a child who kicked a flight attendant reveals about emotional validation without boundaries
• Why one mother asked Alexa how to stop her daughter’s panic attack
• And the surprising gap between how many people experience trauma and how many develop PTSD
Together, those clues lead to a much bigger question:
How do you protect a child without protecting them from the experiences that teach them they can handle life?

Why Scientists Think UFOs Aren't Human
2026/09/01
For most of modern history, UFOs were treated as a cultural punchline.
Until something massive changed.
The Pentagon released military footage. NASA launched an investigation. Harvard began building instruments to study the phenomenon. And scientists with prestigious reputations started publicly asking a question that could once have ended a career:
Could some of these objects actually be non-human?
This episode does not argue that every strange light in the sky is extraordinary. Most UFO reports eventually have ordinary explanations. The real mystery is the small remainder that does not.
To understand why that remainder has kept scientists and governments investigating for nearly eight decades, we follow four clues:
• The secret network of scientists who studied UFOs when almost no one could admit it publicly
• What 78 years of government investigations actually uncovered
• Five recurring behaviors that challenge what known human technology should be capable of
• And the strangest clue of all: what happens when the phenomenon gets close enough to affect people directly
Together, those clues lead somewhere even stranger than the UFO story most of us inherited.
And when you place the strongest cases beside one another, you begin to understand why prestigious scientists now believe some UFOs have non-human origins.

Divorce Lawyer: Why Oral Sex & Granola Cause Divorce
2026/08/25
Marriage has never come with more advice, more therapy, or more language for what healthy relationships are supposed to look like.
And yet nearly half of marriages still end.
So what are we missing about how relationships actually fall apart?
Divorce lawyer James Sexton has spent more than two decades inside thousands of divorces, giving him a view of marriage most relationship experts never get to see: the ending.
To investigate what those endings can teach us about staying together, we follow five clues:
• Why women initiate 69% of divorces
• Why expensive weddings can predict failure
• How changing gender roles are reshaping marriage
• Why people repeat the same mistakes in second and third marriages
• And somehow, what blowjobs and granola have to do with all of it
Together, those clues point toward a much larger question: what do couples who stay together understand that others often learn too late?

The World's Healthiest Man Got An Incurable Disease
2026/08/18
Bryan Johnson has become the most famous human experiment on Earth. He tracks thousands of biomarkers and follows one of the most intensive longevity protocols ever made public.
When he claimed to be the healthiest person on the planet, he published the data to support it. On one measure of biological aging, his body was aging so slowly that he joked he only had a birthday every 19 months.
Whatever you think of his methods, the numbers are extraordinary.
But early last month, Bryan announced that he had been diagnosed with autoimmune gastritis, an incurable autoimmune disease that can remain hidden for years.
The announcement triggered a huge wave of criticism. One side saw proof that health optimization is pointless. The other saw proof that the system worked, because his testing uncovered a disease that might otherwise have remained undetected.
Both reactions contain slivers of truth. That is exactly why neither one tells the whole story.
His biomarkers are extraordinary, his diagnosis is real and finding it early was valuable. The fact that it happened despite those numbers matters too.
The internet treated those facts as competing verdicts, but the latest episode of the Mighty Pursuit Podcast treats them as clues.
This is not a takedown of Bryan Johnson or the longevity movement. Nor is it a complete endorsement.
It examines what health optimization can genuinely give us, where its power ends, and the question we all need to be prepared to answer: what happens when your health cannot be fixed?

Harvard Scientist: Why Exercise Can Add 10 Years To Your Life
2026/08/04
Exercise is one of the few things nearly everyone agrees we should do. And yet, most people still hate or dislike doing it.
We usually interpret that resistance as a personal failure. If you do not want to wake up early, drive to a gym, and lift heavy objects under bright lights, you must be lazy, undisciplined, or insufficiently committed to your health.
Dr. Daniel Lieberman believes we have the problem completely backward.
For most of human history, people did not exercise for its own sake. They moved because survival required it. Then modern life removed movement from nearly every part of the day and told us to schedule it back in as a separate activity.
So, of course, you do not want to exercise. The human body evolved to conserve energy whenever movement was unnecessary.
But that does not make movement unimportant. Regular physical activity remains one of the most powerful tools we have for preventing disease, preserving function, and extending life. Some studies have found as much as 10 years.
And few scientists alive have done more to help us understand why.
Daniel Lieberman is one of the most influential evolutionary biologists of his generation. The legendary Harvard professor has spent decades reconstructing how the human body evolved to walk, run, carry, rest, and survive. His research has fundamentally shaped modern thinking about endurance running, barefoot movement, physical activity, and the mismatch between our ancient biology and modern lives.
With more than 13,000 citations and a Google Scholar h-index of 91, Lieberman is not simply commenting on the science of movement. He helped build the field through which much of it is now understood.
This conversation asks a completely different question.
Not: how do you force yourself to work out?
But: how do you build a life where movement feels natural again?

Hospice Nurse: Why Dying Patients See Dead Relatives
2026/07/28
Something strange happens in the weeks before death.
Patients often begin seeing loved ones who have already died. They say someone is in the room. They describe being visited. And again and again, they repeat some version of the same phrase:
“I’m going home.”
This is not just anecdotal. In one Hospice Buffalo study, 88.1% of dying patients reported a deathbed vision. That finding echoes research from nearly fifty years earlier, when investigators examined tens of thousands of accounts from people approaching death.
But here’s the part that’s hardest to dismiss: hospice workers and researchers consistently report that these experiences do not behave like ordinary delirium or hallucination.
They seem to be something else.
Almost as if the boundary between two worlds is beginning to thin.
Hospice nurse Julie McFadden has witnessed this firsthand across thousands of deaths. Last year, we invited Julie onto the podcast, and more than 500,000 people watched that conversation.
This time, we wanted to go deeper.
Why do so many dying patients say they’re going home? And what might that reveal about where home actually is?

Why We Moved A Homeless Man Into Our House
2026/07/21
141 million.
That’s how many people have watched an extraordinary story unfold in Utah over the last six months.
Two friends, Chandler and Josh, met a homeless man named Trevor. Then they did something almost no one else would do: they invited him to live in their home. A home without locks on the bedroom doors.
When we first came across the story, we had a lot of questions. In an age where almost everything is documented online, it’s fair to wonder what’s real and what’s staged.
But after spending time with Chandler and Josh behind the scenes, hearing how it all happened and what life with Trevor has actually been like, we came away with the impression that these guys are exactly who they appear to be.
So this episode is about Trevor’s story. But it is also about you.
Because underneath what Chandler and Josh did is something almost all of us are searching for: a life that actually feels meaningful.
Modern life keeps telling us the same thing: heal yourself, protect yourself, optimize yourself. And while those things matter, millions of people have done all of them and still feel empty, powerless, and profoundly alone.
So what if the life we’re looking for is not found by making life even more about ourselves? What if it begins by giving more of ourselves away?
This is the unbelievable story of what happened when two men opened their home to Trevor.
And hearing how it unfolded may change the direction of your own life.

Why Women Objectify Themselves (Psychologist Explains)
2026/07/14
We’re living through a strange reversal.
Ten years ago, the body positivity movement was everywhere. The message was simple: your appearance is not the center of who you are. Stop objectifying women. Stop treating beauty as their greatest value. Celebrate bodies instead of ranking them.
And yet, somehow, the conversation has completely flipped.
Beauty is no longer just something to possess. It has become something to leverage for attention, status and opportunity. And in its most extreme form, for income itself.
We were once told, "You're more than your body." Now the message increasingly feels like, "Your body may be your greatest asset."
Few people have watched this shift more closely than Dr. Renee Engeln. One of the world's leading researchers on beauty, body image, and self-objectification, she has spent decades studying the psychological forces shaping how women see themselves.
In 2017, she published Beauty Sick, warning that our obsession with appearance was becoming a public health crisis. Nearly a decade later, many of her predictions have come true.
This conversation isn't just about why women feel trapped by beauty anymore. It's about why, for so many, beauty has come to feel like the only way out.

We're The First Generation That Stopped Praying
2026/07/07
Something massive has changed.
Over the last two decades, billions of people stopped praying.
The numbers reflect it from every angle. Religious affiliation has fallen. Daily prayer has declined. And for the first time in recent history, an entire generation is coming of age without inheriting a ritual human beings have carried across cultures for thousands of years.
This episode investigates what happens when one of humanity's oldest practices quietly disappears.
Enough time has now passed to ask what changed.
Science is beginning to provide the answer.
And the results have profound implications for your mind, your body, your relationships, your purpose, and the life you're building.

I Was Dead For 107 Minutes (I Saw What Comes After)
2026/06/30
On January 18, 2003, Vinney Tolman was found dead in the bathroom of a restaurant.
By the time medics discovered him, he had likely been there for close to an hour. And here's the most interesting part: they placed him in a body bag.
As they were taking him away, a rookie medic decided to check him one more time. Against all odds, Vinney came back to life.
But the real story isn’t just that he died. It’s what he says happened while he was gone.
If you’ve been following along with us, you know this is a subject we’ve taken seriously for a while. A few months ago, we released a documentary-style episode on what science has revealed about the afterlife.
And back in 2024, we sat down with one of the leading scientists in the field of near-death studies, a field that examines patients who clinically died, came back, and described where they had been.
But today is different.
Because today, we’re not talking about near-death experiences from the outside. We’re sitting with someone who says he had one.
And because we take this subject seriously, we knew that if we ever brought someone on to describe what they saw after death, the circumstances around the death had to matter. It had to be extreme.
It had to be difficult to explain away. We needed to understand what happened medically, who was there, how long he was gone, and whether the basic facts of the story held up under scrutiny.
After doing the background work, we don’t think Vinney’s story is something you can casually dismiss.
So for the next two hours, you’ll hear what happened. The circumstances around his death. What he says he experienced while he was gone. And then you can decide what to do with it.

Sex Psychologist: Why Women Stop Wanting Sex
2026/06/23
We’re living through a boredom epidemic. Sexual boredom, that is.
More women are reporting low sexual desire than ever before. Many Gen Z women are stepping away from sex altogether, and in long-term relationships, the number of women who want frequent sex often declines with each passing year.
If you’re living inside this dynamic, it can be deeply frustrating on both sides. As a woman, you may wonder why you no longer want something you used to enjoy, or whether something is wrong with you. As a man, it can feel like rejection from the person you most want to feel desired by.
Few people understand this tension better than Dr. Lori Brotto. While many people claim expertise in sex, Dr. Brotto is one in the truest sense. She has spent decades studying women’s desire, published hundreds of scientific papers, and worked with thousands of patients.
As both a psychologist and a sex therapist, she is undoubtedly one of the world’s leading experts in sex.
So why is this all happening? We’re about to find out.
