You invite your friends and neighbors to shelter with you in the family estate you’ve inherited and fixed up: Covenshire House. Battered with rain and shut inside for days at a time, you find an unusual way of keeping yourselves busy: searching the library for the best ghost story.   Tonight’s story alludes to the strange and supernatural as we turn to the dark months of the year, but the intent is to awaken that cozy, nostalgic sense of Halloween through the conventions of the Gothic novel and the stories we loved as children.
