151 | How to Stop Feeling Overwhelmed and Start Living a More Fulfilling Life by Changing One Phrase
2026/10/26
Are you constantly saying, “I'm so busy,” but still feel like you're not making progress on the things that matter most? In this episode of The Journey to Becoming, we're talking about the difference between being busy and living a FULL life. Because you can fill every hour of your calendar and still feel disconnected from God, your relationships, and the woman He's created you to be. Somewhere along the way, we've normalized being busy. We wear it like a badge of honor, use it as a reason to put our own growth on hold, and convince ourselves we'll have time for what matters when life finally slows down. But what if the goal isn't to do more? What if it's to become more intentional about what we're filling our lives with? Rooted in John 10:10 and Jesus' promise of abundant life, we're exploring how to stop living on autopilot and start making intentional choices about our time, priorities, and personal growth—even in seasons when life feels overwhelming. In this episode, we'll talk about: Busy vs. FULL: Why having a packed schedule doesn't necessarily mean you're living a purposeful or fulfilled life. Being intentional with your time: How to stop allowing every demand, distraction, and obligation to determine your priorities. Pursuing the abundant life Jesus offers: Why a full life isn't about having a perfect schedule, but about living rooted in Christ. Making room for what matters: How to prioritize your faith, relationships, wellness, and purpose without adding more pressure to your already full plate. Here's the question I want you to sit with: If your life is full, what is it full of? You don't need to wait for a new year, a quieter season, or an empty calendar to start becoming the woman God created you to be. You can start right where you are, with the time you have and one intentional decision. Because the goal isn't to fit more into your life. It's to cultivate a life that's FULL of what matters. 150 | Feeling Behind? How Messy Action Helps You Rebuild Self-Trust and Move Forward
2026/10/19
Have you ever looked back on the year and found yourself focusing on everything you didn't do? The goals you didn't reach, the habits you didn't build, or the ways you feel like you should be further along by now? As we enter the final quarter of the year, it's easy to beat ourselves up, allow disappointment to turn into shame, and begin pulling away from the very people who could help us grow. But sis, what if instead of waiting until you have it all together, you started taking messy action? In this episode of The Journey to Becoming, we're talking about what it looks like to take imperfect action, rebuild trust with yourself, and walk in obedience to God, even when you don't feel ready or have everything figured out. You'll be encouraged to stop allowing perfectionism, fear, and disappointment to keep you stuck and to recognize why surrounding yourself with friends, coaches, mentors, and a community that speaks truth into your life is so important. Isolation doesn't move us forward; sometimes, we need others to remind us of who God says we are when we've forgotten it ourselves. Most importantly, we'll talk about taking messy action in your relationship with Jesus. He doesn't tell us to get perfect before we come to Him. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites the weary and burdened to come to Him and find rest. You don't have to get yourself together before you come to the feet of Jesus. Come as you are and let Him meet you there. In this episode, we'll explore: How taking small, imperfect steps helps rebuild self-trust. Why beating yourself up over what you haven't accomplished keeps you stuck. How isolation can hold you back from the encouragement and accountability you need. Why having friends, coaches, and mentors who speak truth into your life matters. What it looks like to take messy action in obedience to God without needing every detail figured out. How to stop waiting for a new year, a fresh start, or the perfect circumstances and take your next right step today. Sis, you are not behind. You are becoming. And you don't have to do it alone. Your challenge: What's one area of your life where you can take messy action in the next 24 hours? Don't overthink it. Take the next right step, invite someone you trust to walk alongside you, and bring it all to Jesus. Remember, you don't have to be perfect to begin. You just have to be willing to show up. In this episode of The Journey to Becoming, I'm joined by Natalie Hixon, known as the Angry Mama Coach, who helps discouraged and burnt-out Christian moms overcome destructive anger so they can enjoy being a wife and mom again. 147 | Stop Walking on Eggshells: How to Have Honest Conversations in Marriage with Cara Nitz
2026/09/28
Have you ever needed to have a hard conversation with your husband but found yourself overthinking how to even bring it up? Maybe you’re afraid you’ll hurt his feelings, make him defensive, start an argument, or create tension in your marriage so instead, you stay quiet, hold it in, or try to handle it yourself. In this episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, I’m talking with marriage and life coach Cara Nitz about the deeper roots of communication and what it looks like to have honest, healthy conversations in marriage. Cara shares her own marriage experience and the work she and her husband, Adam, have done together, offering practical insight for women who want to communicate more openly without falling into old patterns of people-pleasing, overfunctioning, avoiding conflict, or taking responsibility for someone else’s emotions. One of the biggest mindset shifts in our conversation is this: you are not responsible for another person’s feelings. That truth can be incredibly freeing when you’ve spent years managing other people’s emotions, walking on eggshells, or believing that keeping the peace means keeping your own thoughts and needs to yourself. And while we talk a lot about communication in marriage, these principles can transform the way you communicate in any relationship, with friends, family, coworkers, and the people you love most. In this episode, we talk about: How to start a difficult conversation with your husband • The connection between people-pleasing and communication • How overfunctioning can show up in relationships • Why you are not responsible for another person’s feelings • What healthy, honest communication can look like • What Cara has learned through her own marriage journey If you’ve ever thought, “I don't know how to say this without hurting his feelings,” this conversation is for you. You don’t have to choose between being honest and being loving. There is a healthier way to communicate and it starts by getting to the root of what’s happening within you. 145 | Financial Freedom Without Fear: What the Bible Says About Money, Investing & Retirement with Emily Scott
2026/09/14
What if you could stop feeling afraid, overwhelmed, or confused about money—and start managing your finances with wisdom, confidence, and vision? In this episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, Joy sits down with Emily of Financially Unbroken for an empowering conversation about financial literacy, faith, money mindset, investing, budgeting, and retirement planning for women. Together, they unpack what the Bible actually says about money and why we don't have to approach our finances from a place of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind—and that applies to our finances too. Emily walks through the different stages of our financial journey, from budgeting and saving to investing and preparing for retirement, while challenging some of the messages society constantly sends us—like “girl math” and “treat yourself.” One of the biggest mindset shifts she shares is the difference between “earn” and “deserve.” What happens when we stop believing we deserve everything we want right now and instead learn to find fulfillment and reward in doing the work, building discipline, and earning what we're working toward? And when it comes to retirement, Emily asks a powerful question: “What am I retiring from—and what am I retiring to?” That question opens up a beautiful conversation about living with vision, purpose, and intention—not just during our working years, but in the years that come after. In this episode, you'll discover: What the Bible says about money and financial stewardship • How to manage your finances without fear • The financial stages of budgeting, saving, investing, and retirement • Why “girl math” and “treat yourself” can influence our spending habits • The mindset shift from “I deserve it” to “I earned it” • Why discipline and delayed gratification can actually create freedom • How women can begin building financial confidence and literacy • How to think differently about retirement and your future • The powerful question: “What am I retiring from—and what am I retiring to?” • How to create a financial future that aligns with your values, faith, and vision If you've ever felt intimidated by money, unsure where to start financially, or caught between wanting to enjoy your life today and wanting to prepare for tomorrow, this conversation is for you. Financial freedom isn't just about having more money. It's about having the wisdom, confidence, and vision to steward what God has entrusted to you—and build a future you're excited to live.   CONNECT WITH EMILY & HER RESOURCES HERE https://www.financiallyunbroken.com/ JOIN US FOR VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE 🥳 BECOMING A WOMAN OF VALUE FREE 5 DAY CHALLENGE 💗   Connect with me here:  WEBSITE: https://www.thejoyfulfitlife.com/
144 | Who Told You That? Uncovering the Lies About Your Identity & Replacing Them With God’s Truth with Lindsay Greear
2026/09/07
So often, we believe things about ourselves that we’ve carried for years — I’m not enough. I’m too much. I’m a failure. I’ll never change. I have to prove myself. And before we even realize it, those lies begin shaping the way we see ourselves, our relationships, our choices, and even our relationship with God. In this week’s episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, I’m sitting down with Lindsay Greear, author of Who Told You That? — Uncovering the Lies That Shape You and the Truth That Sets You Free. This conversation was SO powerful because Lindsay shares not only the heart behind her book, but the personal journey that led her to write it. With a background in therapy, Lindsay takes a unique approach to helping women identify the lies they’ve believed about themselves. She addresses each lie from a therapeutic perspective and then brings it back to the truth of God’s Word, helping us understand what Scripture says about who we really are. Because here’s the thing: you can’t become who God created you to be while continuing to operate from a false identity. In this episode, we talk about: ✨ The lies women commonly believe about themselves and their identity ✨ How our beliefs shape the way we live and make decisions ✨ What God’s Word says about who we really are ✨ How replacing lies with truth can change the way we live I hope this conversation encourages you to slow down and ask yourself: “Who told me that?” Because some of the things you’ve believed about yourself may not be the truth at all. And when you uncover the lie, you can finally begin to walk in the freedom that comes from knowing who God says you are. 🎧 Listen now and be encouraged to uncover the lies, embrace God’s truth, and continue becoming the woman He created you to be. 2026/08/31
Have you ever opened your Bible and thought, “I want to understand this, but I don’t even know where to start?” If studying the Bible feels intimidating, confusing, or overwhelming, this episode is for you. In this conversation, I’m joined by Angie Baughman, a licensed pastor, Bible teacher, and founder of Steady On Ministries. Angie created the Step By Step Bible study method, a simple and transferable approach designed to help women learn how to understand and study Scripture for themselves. Angie shares how her own journey of healing led her into a deeper love for God’s Word and how that passion became a calling to help other women discover the beauty, truth, and transformation found in Scripture. 2026/08/24
What if the extra weight, fatigue, stress, or other symptoms you’re experiencing aren’t the actual problem—but your body’s way of telling you something deeper needs attention? In this episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, I’m sitting down with Amber Swift, a Certified Integrative & Functional Nutrition Health Coach, to talk about what it really means to get to the root cause of your health instead of simply treating symptoms. Amber shares part of her own health journey and how years of chronic stress and trying the wrong approaches eventually forced her to slow down and prioritize her own health. 140 | Holy Girl Summer Mini Series Part 9: Finish Strong: Living with Purpose After Holy Girl Summer
2026/08/10
After nine incredible weeks together, Holy Girl Summer may be coming to an end—but your journey is just beginning. Throughout this series, we've explored what it means to become the woman God created you to be by discovering your spiritual gifts, growing in obedience, and learning to steward what He's entrusted to you. But knowledge without action doesn't produce transformation. In this final episode, we're celebrating every woman who listened, leaned in, prayed, reflected, started something new, or simply took one faithful step forward. As Zechariah 4:10 reminds us: "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin." Sometimes we think God is only pleased with the finished product. But Scripture tells us He rejoices when we simply begin. In this episode, you'll be encouraged to celebrate your progress, trust God with the small steps, and remember that faithfulness—not perfection—is what He asks of us. ✨ You'll also be challenged to complete one powerful sentence: "Because of Holy Girl Summer, I will..." This simple declaration is your opportunity to move from inspiration to implementation and to commit to one intentional next step in your walk with Christ. Whether you're beginning a new ministry, serving in your local church, strengthening your prayer life, or using your gifts in your home, workplace, or community, this episode will encourage you to keep saying "yes" to God's calling. Thank you for spending your summer with me. My prayer is that this series has helped you discover not only how God has gifted you, but also the courage to use those gifts to glorify Him and serve others. Remember, the best is still yet to come!  Keep taking your next faithful step. 139 | Holy Girl Summer Mini Series Part 8: How to Trust God's Calling: Leaving Security to Walk by Faith with Darneisha Beeler
2026/08/03
What do you do when God asks you to leave the very thing that makes you feel secure? In Part 8 of the Holy Girl Summer series, Joy is joined by Darneisha Beeler, who shares her incredible journey of walking away from a successful six-figure career in banking after the Holy Spirit began stirring her heart for something more. Leaving comfort and financial security wasn't easy—but Darneisha knew that God's calling was greater than her fear. In this powerful conversation, she shares what it looked like to trust God's timing, surrender her plans, and step boldly into the purpose He had prepared for her. If you've ever felt the Holy Spirit nudging you toward something that feels bigger than you—a new opportunity, ministry, business, career change, or simply using your God-given gifts in a new way—this episode will encourage you to take your next faithful step. God rarely reveals the entire roadmap. Instead, He invites us to trust Him one step at a time. In this episode, you'll learn: How to discern when God is calling you into something new Why obedience often requires leaving your comfort zone How to overcome fear when taking a leap of faith Why your spiritual gifts are meant to glorify God, not yourself How trusting God's timing leads to greater purpose and impact The encouragement you need to finally say "yes" to what God has been asking of you This conversation is a beautiful reminder that God doesn't call the equipped—He equips those He calls. When you surrender your plans to Him, He can do immeasurably more than you could ever imagine. 🎧 Whether you're discerning your calling, feeling stuck between comfort and obedience, or praying for the courage to use your gifts for God's glory, this episode will leave you encouraged to trust the One who called you. 138 | Holy Girl Summer Mini Series Part 7: Faithful in the Hallway: Stewarding Your Spiritual Gifts Before the Open Door
2026/07/27
What if the season you're in right now isn't a waiting room... but a training ground? In Part 7 of the Holy Girl Summer mini series, we're talking about what it truly means to steward the gifts God has entrusted to you—especially in the seasons when no one is watching. It's easy to believe we'll show up once the opportunity comes, but Scripture teaches that promotion follows faithfulness. Before God opens the next door, He often invites us to faithfully steward what's already in our hands. In this episode, we dive into 1 Peter 4:10 and explore the biblical principle of stewardship through the lens of Tony Evans' book Kingdom Stewardship. Together, we'll unpack why your gifts were never meant to be hidden, how faithfulness in the "hallway" prepares you for the next room God has for you, and why obedience in the small things matters more than chasing the spotlight. In this episode, you'll learn: What biblical stewardship really means. Why God often develops us in the unseen before promoting us. How to steward your gifts even when no one notices. The connection between faithfulness, purpose, and God's timing. How serving others with your gifts glorifies God and advances His Kingdom. Whether you feel overlooked, stuck, or like you're waiting for your "big break," this episode will encourage you to stop waiting for the platform and start stewarding the place God has you today. Remember: God isn't looking for perfection—He's looking for faithfulness. Steward the little, trust the process, and let Him handle the promotion. 137 | Holy Girl Summer Mini Series Part 6: Fan Into Flame Your Gift: Overcoming Fear, Excuses & Waiting to Feel Ready
2026/07/20
What if the biggest thing standing between you and your calling isn't a lack of ability—but waiting until you feel ready? In this episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, we're talking about the power of pre-deciding that you'll continue to show up, use your God-given gifts, and stay faithful—even when fear, insecurity, or excuses try to hold you back. Using 2 Timothy 1:6-7, we unpack Paul's encouragement to Timothy to "fan into flame" the gift God had placed within him and explore why Timothy was able to receive that correction. Because he had a mentor. He had accountability. He had someone who loved him enough to speak to his fears and call him up, not out. In this episode, you'll learn: What it means to "fan into flame" your spiritual gifts. Why you can't trust your feelings to determine your faithfulness. The importance of discipleship and accountability in your spiritual growth. How to pre-decide to show up before excuses have a chance to win. Why God has given you a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline—not fear. If you've been shrinking back, doubting yourself, or waiting until you feel more confident, this episode is the reminder you need: Your calling doesn't pause because your feelings fluctuate.
