Steel Pulse – True Democracy | The Reggae Album That Stayed With Us
2026/10/22
We're back with Chapter 27 of Bowlin' Thru Albums, and this time we're diving into an album that has been part of our lives for as long as we can remember: Steel Pulse's True Democracy.
This one was Sammie's pick, and she couldn't have chosen a better record. Released in 1982, True Democracy is one of those albums that all three of us absolutely love. We've listened to these songs more times than we can count, experienced the incredible energy of Steel Pulse live, and carried this music with us through different stages of our lives.
Join Harvey, Sammie, and Dino as we revisit this reggae classic, sharing stories that take us all the way back to our childhoods, the memories we've made along the way, and the music that continues to bring us together.
From the unmistakable rhythms of "Chant a Psalm" and "Ravers" to the powerful messages behind "Your House" and "Worth His Weight in Gold," we talk about what makes this album so special, both musically and personally.
This isn't just another album review. It's three music lovers revisiting a record that's been the soundtrack to so many moments in our lives. And that's really what Bowlin' Thru Albums is all about.
So grab your headphones, drop the needle, and come hang out with us as we celebrate one of reggae's finest albums.

Ratt – Out of the Cellar | The Album That Put Ratt on the Map
2026/09/29
Ep. 26 Ratt came roaring out of the Los Angeles metal scene in 1984 with Out of the Cellar—an album that helped define the sound and look of an entire era.
On this episode of Bowlin’ Thru Albums, Harvey, Dino and Sammie dig into Ratt’s breakthrough record, the band’s rise out of the Sunset Strip scene, and the songs that made Out of the Cellar one of the essential albums of ’80s hard rock.
We get into the album’s biggest tracks, including “Round and Round,” “Wanted Man,” “Back for More,” and more, while talking about Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini, Robbin Crosby, Juan Croucier and Bobby Blotzer—and what made this particular lineup work.
But as usual, this isn’t just an album review. We talk about what Ratt sounded like when this music was new, our own memories and opinions of the band, the videos and MTV era surrounding the record, and why Out of the Cellar still deserves a place in a rock and metal vinyl collection more than four decades later.
So grab the record, drop the needle, and come hang out with us as we go back to 1984 and revisit Ratt – Out of the Cellar.
