Air Purifiers Explained: What Actually Works for Mold & Indoor Air Quality?
2026/10/08
What actually works when it comes to air purifiers, mold, odors, and wildfire smoke? Chris Dooley, founder and CEO of Puraclenz, joins Adam Horn and Sean McGrath to break down HEPA filtration, activated carbon, UV-C, PCO, ionization, ozone, and the real-world differences between room purifiers and HVAC systems. They discuss what air purifiers can—and cannot—do in a mold-affected home, why moisture control and source remediation always come first, how to evaluate purifier claims and third-party testing, and why zero-ozone certification matters. The conversation also covers airflow, air changes, PM2.5, purifier placement, and practical applications for basements, bedrooms, and homes affected by wildfire smoke. If you're trying to improve your indoor air quality or choose an air purifier without getting misled by marketing claims, this episode gives you a practical framework for making a smarter decision.

Mold Dogs & Mold Inspections: How Can They Work Together?
2026/09/15
Mold detection dogs can be a useful tool - but knowing how to properly interpret an alert and follow up on it is just as important.
Adam Horn and Sean McGrath are joined by Staci Sutton of Mold Pups and Jonathan Farrar of JF Healthy Homes for a practical conversation about mold detection dogs, canine training, mold inspections, and the importance of a proper follow up.
Staci explains what makes a legitimate canine team, how her dog Gus was trained, and why the right handler matters just as much as the dog. They also discuss the mold inspection and remediation perspective, breaking down where canine alerts can help, their limitations, and why documentation, inspection, sampling, testing, and communication are critical.

Air Purifiers, Hidden Air Quality Risks, and Mold
2026/08/18
Air purifiers can play an important role in improving indoor air quality—but they can't fix the underlying problem if the source of contamination is still there. In this episode, Sean McGrath and Adam Horn break down why source removal comes first, the limitations of standard filtration, and why ultra-fine particles matter in homes dealing with mold, humidity, wildfire smoke, and other environmental contaminants.
Using clips from Sean’s conversation with Larry Rothenberg of Agentis Air, they unpack some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding air purification and indoor air quality. They discuss why “HEPA” doesn’t always mean a system is fully contained, how rural homes can be affected by pesticides, fertilizers, wildfire smoke, and outdoor pollutants, and why bringing in more fresh air isn't always the solution—especially in humid climates like Florida.

Could Hidden Mold Be Causing Your Symptoms?
2026/07/20
In this episode of The Mold Show, we sit down with Ashley Drummonds—Board-Certified Integrative Health Practitioner (AADP), former Shark Tank entrepreneur, and practitioner specializing in mold toxicity, CIRS, MCAS, and histamine intolerance.
Before helping others recover from mold-related illness, Ashley was the patient. Despite years in the health and wellness industry, she struggled with debilitating symptoms including fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, and unexplained weight loss. After countless appointments and being told her lab work was "normal," she eventually discovered the true source of her illness: prolonged exposure to mold in a water-damaged building.
Ashley shares how that discovery transformed both her health and her career, leading her to dedicate her practice to helping others uncover overlooked environmental factors that may contribute to chronic illness.
Together, we discuss the importance of investigating the home environment, why water damage should never be ignored, how mold exposure is often overlooked, and the role of proper building assessments in creating healthier indoor spaces.
