In this episode, you will hear: Quantum biology is the intersection of quantum physics and biology. It is an emerging academic field that produces compelling evidence that quantum effects are taking place in human bodies. Do the simple things that get the biggest results. They will improve your life in every aspect. We need to balance the blue light we are using every day with natural, healthy light outside every single day. We are batteries made of water, charged by sunlight. Your light environment is key to your circadian rhythm. Why you should open your windows or go outside to get sunlight and how a closed window is like blue light. Most quantum things are free - start there. Even 30 seconds of direct sunlight during the day can help your body reorient itself in time. Post-acute withdrawal syndrome has the same symptoms as blue light toxicity. Dr. Sara Pugh has a degree in Biochemistry Genetics and PhD in Molecular Mechanisms. She studied protein folding, which plays a role in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, antioxidants and fluorescence. Scott Zimmerman is an optics engineer with over 35 years of experience in the industry and over 80 US patents. In the last decade, Scott has turned his attention to how light interacts with the body. This has led him to becoming an expert on the physiology of melatonin and how NIR/IR light propagates through living tissue. Scott is an expert in optics and has focussed his attention on quantifying the health effects of natural sunlight. Scott has unparalleled knowledge about how light interacts with systems. His innovations and inventions have been used successfully in a wide range of military and commercial products that include night vision displays, liquid crystal display backlighting designs, and lighting fixtures. More recently, he has been working closely with world-renowned researchers in the field of biology, looking closely at the relationship between natural light rich in near-infrared, melatonin and cortisol. His publications are alongside Professor Russel Reiter, the world’s expert in melatonin. Scott’s insights are profound and are changing the way we perceive our relationship with light and why we are yet to get a grip on diseases of modern life. Gerald Pollack is a pioneer when it comes to water research. Pollack received his PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He then joined the University of Washington faculty and is now professor of Bioengineering. He has received an honorary doctorate in 2002 from Ural State University in Ekaterinburg, Russia, and has been named an Honorary Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences and foreign member and Academician of the Srpska Academy. He received the Biomedical Engineering Society’s Distinguished Lecturer Award in 2002. In 2008, his colleagues chose him as the recipient of his university’s highest annual distinction; the UW Faculty Lecturer Award. Pollack is a Founding Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a Fellow of both the American Heart Association and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He received an NIH Director’s Transformative R01 Award. He was the 2012 recipient of the Prigogine Medal for thermodynamics of dissipative systems, and in 2014 he received the Scientific Excellence Award from the World Academy of Neural Therapy, as well as the Dinsdale Prize from the Society for Scientific Exploration. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal WATER. The Executive Director of the Institute for Venture Science; and founder of the Annual Conference on the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of Water. He has authored several books, most notably 'Cells, Gels and the Engines of Life' as well as 'The Fourth Phase of Water'. A scientist, researcher, author, inventor, and leader in the field of light science, Dr. Martin Moore-Ede, M.D., Ph.D., has been a leading expert on circadian clocks and their regulation by light for over 40 years.  As a professor at Harvard Medical School (1975 – 1998), he led the team that located the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), the biological clock in the human brain that controls the timing of sleep and wake. Olle Johansson is a professor, retired from the Karolinska Institute (in Nov 2017 but still very active in research).  He was at the Department of Neuroscience, head of The Experimental Dermatology Unit, Stockholm, Sweden, and previously at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Of course, the Karolinska Institute and the Royal Institute of Technology are famous for their associations with the Nobel Prizes in Physiology or Medicine, Chemistry, and Physics. Dr Johansson is a world-leading authority in the field of EMF radiation and health effects. Among many achievements he coined the term "screen dermatitis" which later on was developed into the functional impairment called electrohypersensitivity or EHS, which recognition is mainly due to his work. He has published more than 800 original articles, reviews, book chapters and conference reports within the fields of basic and applied neuroscience, dermatoscience, epidemiology, and biophysics, and is one of the 14 scientists/authors behind the original Bioinitiative Report.- that detailed the relationship between the electromagnetic fields associated with powerlines and wireless devices and health. Of interest is his passion to help accommodate the people with the functional impairment EHS or electrohypersensitivity under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. He was featured in the 2018 documentary Generation Zapped. Since 2017, he has continued to investigate the adverse health and biological effects of microwave and radiofrequency radiation from wireless technology, relying on support from personal donations. As an electro-mechanical engineer by training, Nico Martens had a very successful career at Procter & Gamble & Hewlett Packard before he realized there was more to life than what he had perceived through his five senses.
