Bradley shares the story of Bryant, the person behind the foundation, and the journey of turning personal grief into a mission focused on helping others. The Bryant O’Neil Foundation describes itself as “A Voice for Louisiana” and works to promote suicide prevention awareness, foster positive dialogue, and encourage communities to become part of the solution. This conversation goes beyond awareness. We discuss why stigma can make it so difficult for people to ask for help, why simply checking in on someone matters, and how friends, family members, schools, churches, businesses, and community organizations can create environments where people feel comfortable talking about what they're going through. Bradley also discusses the foundation's goal of bringing suicide-prevention information into high schools, the lessons his family has learned through their experience, and the importance of creating meaningful conversations around mental health and suicide prevention.
