Extended Interview: Whitney Wolfe Herd on Building Bumble, Leadership & What's Next
2026/10/15
Today, we're doing things a little differently! I'm bringing one of my favorite recent conversations from The Running Interview Show over to the podcast, featuring Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd. In this episode we walked with Whitney in Central Park (yes, we both walk and run for the running show).  Whitney launched Bumble at just 25 years old, transforming the dating industry with the idea that women should make the first move. She went on to take the company public in 2021, becoming one of the most recognizable female entrepreneurs in tech. And with Bumble recently announcing a $1.3 billion deal to go private, there's never been a more interesting time to revisit her story. During our walk, we talked about her entrepreneurial journey, building and leading a billion-dollar business, the lessons she's learned along the way, and how she sees the future of dating and connection evolving. Our conversations on The Running Interview Show are often much longer than the clips you see on social media, so I'm excited to start sharing more of these moments with you here on the podcast. Hope you enjoy this one! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
How to Break Your Relationship Patterns with Sabrina Zohar
2026/10/13
Why do we sometimes want the people who are clearly wrong for us the most? Relationship coach and author Sabrina Zohar joins Kate to break down the patterns that keep us chasing, overthinking, people-pleasing, self-abandoning, and staying in relationships longer than we should. Sabrina also shares how to stop focusing on whether someone is choosing you and start asking whether you’re choosing them, what a healthy and secure relationship actually looks like, and how to break the patterns that keep showing up in your dating life. Plus, Sabrina opens up about her own dating history, the experiences that led her to become a relationship coach, and the lessons behind her book, Why Am I Like This? In this episode, Kate and Jeremy sit down with world-renowned brain coach and memory expert Jim Kwik to break down how we can train our brains to learn faster, remember more, focus better, and stay mentally sharp. Jim shares how a childhood brain injury and years of struggling in school led him to dedicate his life to understanding how the brain learns. He explains why intelligence isn’t fixed, the strategies that can make learning easier, and the techniques he uses to remember hundreds of names. They also dive into why multitasking is hurting your focus, the best way to take a “brain break,” how your morning routine can shape the rest of your day, and why reaching for your phone first thing might be working against you. Jim also shares his approach to raising curious, confident kids, why movement and social connection are essential for long-term brain health, and the daily practices he believes can help all of us build a stronger mind. In this episode: Why there’s no such thing as a “bad memory” Jim’s BEFAST framework for learning faster How to remember anyone’s name Why multitasking is actually task-switching The best way to structure study and work sessions Why you shouldn’t check your phone first thing in the morning Jim’s 10-minute morning routine How exercise, sleep, hydration, and connection affect your brain How to become a better learner at any age How parents can help raise confident, capable kids See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
How Sportsish Is Rewriting Sports Media for Women | Lily Shimbashi
2026/09/07
For years, women have been made to feel like they have to prove they belong in sports. Lily Shimbashi is working to change that. Lily is the founder of Sportsish, a media brand at the intersection of sports, culture, fashion and storytelling that was created specifically with female sports fans in mind. In this episode, we talk about the gap she saw in traditional sports media, what she learned working behind the scenes in the NBA, and how becoming a mom gave her the confidence to finally bet on herself and build the company she had been thinking about for years. We also get into why sports and pop culture are becoming increasingly intertwined, how Taylor Swift and entertainment are bringing new audiences into sports, why female fans shouldn’t be put into one box, and Lily’s journey from Sportsish to creating content with ESPN. Plus, we talk motherhood, entrepreneurship, rejection, online criticism, work-life balance and why Lily believes the best thing you can do is stop being afraid to fail. For nearly three decades, Norah O’Donnell has built a career defined by trust, resilience, and a willingness to ask the hard questions. We also talk about: Growing up in Ukrainian orphanages and the reality of surviving them Becoming a 24-time Paralympic medalist across four different sports The mindset that helped her rebuild after every setback Why she didn't win her first gold medal until her fourth Paralympic Games How she embraces starting over—and why it's become her superpower Whether you're chasing a goal, navigating change, or rebuilding after life's hardest moments, this conversation is a powerful reminder that your past doesn't define your future.
