A Bedtime Meditation for Kids | 15-Minute Body Scan to Relax & Sleep
2026/09/16
A gentle 15-minute bedtime meditation for kids, created from the meditation I do with my own girls every night. JUMP PAST INTRO: 1:09 My kids actually asked me to record this one, so I thought I'd share it here in case it helps another family too. This is a simple body scan designed to help children slow down, relax their bodies, release the worries and energy from the day, and settle into sleep. It starts with a few calming breaths and then gently moves from the top of the head all the way down to the toes. At the end, we imagine giving our worries and tired energy to Mother Earth, who transforms them into something beautiful for tomorrow. You can simply play this at bedtime, or use the transcript to read it yourself. I truly believe there is something especially comforting about hearing a parent's voice at bedtime. 📖 WANT TO READ IT YOURSELF? I've included the full transcript in a Google Doc so you can read it directly to your child or record your own version. Meditation Script If this helps your family, I'd love to hear about it in the comments. Sweet dreams. ❤️ ABOUT THAT SPIRITUAL GIRL NEXT DOOR Down-to-earth conversations that are out of this world. I'm Kelly, and That Spiritual Girl Next Door is where we explore spirituality, consciousness, intuition, the unexplained, and all the weird and wonderful questions that make us wonder what the heck is actually going on. No fear. No dogma. No robes required. Subscribe for more curious conversations and the occasional bedtime meditation from a random girl from the South with a Southern twang. #BedtimeMeditation #KidsMeditation #SleepMeditation #MeditationForKids #SleepForKids #SouthernAccent
Practices That Quietly Change Your Life | Motherhood, Music, Prayer & Finding Your Voice | Ep. 31
2026/07/11
DON'T LISTEN FOR THE ANSWERS. LISTEN FOR THE PRACTICES.What kinds of practices shape us into the kind of people who can recognize when it's time to change? In this episode, I'm joined by holistic coach, singer-songwriter, and soon-to-be author Gina Marie Slager to explore a lifelong spiritual journey that took an unexpected turn. For more than twenty-seven years, Gina immersed herself in yoga, meditation, chanting, world religions, motherhood, music, and holistic healing. But instead of asking where her journey ultimately led, I found myself asking a different question: How did she become the kind of person who could recognize something profound when it happened? Together we explore the practices that quietly shape us over a lifetime—and how those ordinary practices may prepare us to hear our own inner voice when life asks us to change. Whether you're deeply religious, spiritually curious, deconstructing your faith, or simply trying to make sense of your own path, this conversation isn't about telling you what to believe. It's about learning to listen. IN THIS EPISODE• Why people become spiritual seekers • Motherhood as a practice of presence • Finding your voice through music and chanting • Walking as meditation • Why Gina explored yoga, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Kabbalah • Gina's unexpected return to Christ consciousness • Discernment vs. persuasion • The freedom of surrender • Why community matters more than ever • The courage to take the leap—even when you're scared ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⏱️ CHAPTERS00:00 — Why We Become Seekers 01:40 — Don't Listen for the Answers. Your Body Is Listening to the Thoughts You Think | Ep. 30
2026/07/03
Your Body Is Listening to the Thoughts You ThinkWhat if your body isn't working against you... but communicating with you? In this episode, I'm joined by hypnotherapist Peter McLaughlin to explore the fascinating connection between the subconscious mind, trauma, physical pain, hypnosis, past life regression, and healing. Peter's journey into this work began after being diagnosed with leukemia and later navigating Lyme disease. Those experiences led him beyond conventional medicine and into more than a decade of studying hypnosis, subconscious healing, regression work, and helping others uncover the deeper roots behind emotional and physical patterns. Together, we explore questions like: ✨ Is physical pain ever trying to tell us something? ✨ What is hypnosis... really? ✨ Can unresolved emotions show up in the body? ✨ Are past lives literal, symbolic, or something else entirely? ✨ How much power does our imagination actually have? ✨ Can changing subconscious patterns change our lives? Whether you're skeptical, spiritually curious, or somewhere in between, this conversation isn't about telling you what to believe—it's about asking better questions. In This Episode• Peter's healing journey through leukemia and Lyme disease • Taking ownership of your own healing • The emotional roots of physical pain • What hypnosis actually is (and what it isn't) • Havening and subconscious reprocessing • Why your imagination may be more powerful than you've been taught • Past life regression and remarkable client stories • Hypnosis vs. psychedelics • Practical ways to begin exploring your subconscious ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⏱️ Chapters00:22 — Meet Peter McLaughlin 01:35 — A Leukemia Diagnosis Changed Everything 05:20 — Why You Have to Own Your Healing 09:25 — What Actually Happens in a Hypnosis Session 17:04 — Using a Pendulum to Talk to the Subconscious 20:43 — Why We've Been Taught to Distrust Our Imagination 28:49 — Havening: A Faster Way to Reprocess Trauma 30:46 — What Is Hypnosis, Really? 41:13 — A Live Havening Demonstration 48:34 — Holding Space for Someone's Deepest Wounds 56:12 — Peter's Own Past-Life Experience 1:01:20 — Are Past Lives Real—or Powerful Metaphors? 1:03:36 — Hypnosis vs. Psychedelics 1:05:46 — Final Thoughts ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Connect with Peter🌐 BlueSky Hypnosis https://www.blueskyhypnosis.com/ 🌐 Peter McLaughlin https://www.petermclaughlin.com/ ▶️ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@BlueSkyHypnosis ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Connect with Kelly🎙️ Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/that-spiritual-girl-next-door/id1765387735 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatspiritualgirlnextdoor ▶️ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thatspiritualgirlnextdoor
We're Back! Part 2 with Dr. Brooke Soto | Ep. 29
2026/06/24
What if the eyes are only one way to "see" the world? After a few months away to focus on family and the "spiritual practice of real life," I’m back with Part 2 of my conversation with Dr. Brooke Soto—and it takes us to the very edge of what we believe is possible. In this episode, we dive deep into Mindsight: a practice where individuals (often children) learn to perceive their environment, identify colors, and even read text while completely blindfolded. Dr. Brooke Soto, founder of the Mindsight Training Institute, explains how this isn't just a "trick," but a window into the untapped potential of human consciousness. In this conversation, we explore: • Defining Mindsight: What it is and why children seem to access it more naturally than adults. • Dermal Activation: How the skin and body can "perceive" information without relying on the eyes. • Belief vs. The Analytical Mind: Why our skepticism is often the only thing standing in the way of our intuition. • Remote Viewing & Telepathy: How Mindsight connects to broader psychic and intuitive abilities. • Shared Consciousness: A powerful mid-episode demonstration with Brooke’s son, Robbie. Meet Robbie Midway through the episode, we are joined by Brooke’s son, Robbie. Robbie is an autistic pre-teen and nonspeaker who communicates via spelling. Together, they demonstrate a profound shared consciousness and telepathic connection in real-time. Watch vs. Listen Because this episode includes live demonstrations of Mindsight and Robbie’s communication, I highly recommend watching the video version. You can find the full video on YouTube, and it is also available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Whether you are a deep believer or a curious skeptic, this conversation is an invitation to ask: What else am I capable of that I haven't tried yet? ——— CONNECT WITH DR. Feeling Existentially Exhausted? Try This Grounding Trance Practice with Niko the Medium | Ep. 28
2026/02/06
What if your exhaustion isn’t a sign that something is breaking… but that something is reorganizing? In this episode, I’m joined by Niko the Medium, a trance medium, teacher, and author who brings clarity and grounded wisdom through a collective consciousness called Noah — a group of archangelic beings here to support our evolution. WHAT WE COVER: – What trance mediumship actually is (and isn't) – How to understand disorientation as recalibration – Why trance states help us become more ourselves, not escape reality – How Niko connects to Noah and who this collective really is – A real-time guided trance exercise you can follow along with – A powerful message from Noah about the phase humanity is in right now 🎙 One quick context note before we begin: There’s a section where we talk about activism and the state of the world. This is not an episode telling anyone to disengage or ignore injustice. It’s an exploration of something many of us are feeling — that when we’re emotionally flooded, even well-intentioned actions can become reactionary or draining. The invitation here is regulation for clarity. Because when your inner state is steady, whatever you choose to do — speak up, parent your kids, have hard conversations, donate, create — comes from a place of presence, not panic. Some people are called to be out front. Others are called to stabilize the room. This episode is about that role. 🔮 CHAPTERS00:00 Hook + Intro 01:35 Who is Niko the Medium? 02:48 What Is Trance Mediumship? 06:05 Disorientation as Evolution 09:40 What Is Noah? 14:00 Guided Trance Practice (Follow Along) 21:00 Channeling Begins — Noah Comes Through 28:12 A Message for the Collective 33:40 Holding Coherence in a Chaotic World 38:00 The Role of the Stabilizer 42:15 Why You're Not “Doing It Wrong” 45:00 How to Connect with Spirit Safely 49:15 Final Thoughts + Ways to Work with Niko 🌐 CONNECT WITH NIKOWebsite: https://www.nikothemedium.com Offerings: Private Sessions, Group Circles, Books, Courses Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nikothemedium 💫 CONNECT WITH KELLYInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatspiritualgirlnextdoor YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ThatSpiritualGirlNextDoor Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1YfjCr9r5X8kXLiTHQcgF3 Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/that-spiritual-girl-next-door/id1765387735

The Stories You Tell About Yourself Are Creating Your Life | Ep. 26
2026/01/19
What if you don’t need to fix yourself to have the life you want? In this unplanned, in-person conversation, Kelly sits down with Courtney Stephenson to explore identity, human potential, and what happens when you stop putting conditions on yourself. This episode moves through manifestation, nervous system regulation, self-concept, and the radical idea that you already are what you’ve been trying to become — without turning it into a performance or a debate. We talk about: Why “doing the work” can quietly become another conditionIdentity, awareness, and the idea of “I Am”Letting go of victim stories and self-judgmentParenting without passing down fear or limitationSynchronicity, perception, and choosing new storiesWhy self-love changes everything — without effortThis is a grounded, conversational episode for anyone who feels tired of fixing themselves and ready to remember who they already are. Ep 25: You Are Not Alone- A Conversation About Mediumship, Spirits & Ongoing Connection
2026/01/14
This episode includes discussion of death and grief. Listener discretion advised. In this episode, we are joined by Barbra Banner, an evidential, psychic, and trance medium whose work is rooted in compassion, service, and practical support for people navigating loss. Barbra shares her path into mediumship, including years of crisis-response and grief support work that uniquely prepared her to hold space for others in their most vulnerable moments. Together, Kelly and Barbra explore what mediumship actually looks like when it’s grounded and human—how grief moves, how humor can coexist with loss, and how loved ones continue to support us after they’ve died. They discuss: What evidential mediumship really is (and what it isn’t)How grief shows up differently for everyone—and why there’s no “right” timelineSurvivor’s guilt, compassion, and learning to pivot toward loveSigns, symbols, and intuition—especially with childrenReincarnation, parallel lives, and why we forgetWhy skepticism can block connection (and how openness changes everything) If you stick around to the end, Kelly participates in a live reading where Barbra brings through specific, verifiable details from loved ones on the other side—followed by a simple exercise listeners can try on their own to experience connection firsthand. This episode isn’t about convincing anyone of anything. It’s about curiosity, comfort, and the possibility that this lifetime isn’t all there is—and that we’re far more supported than we realize. 🔗 Learn more about Barbra Banner or book a reading: https://bannermedium.com/ Connect with Kelly: 📸 Instagram: Instagram.com/thatspiritualgirlnextdoor YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ThatSpiritualGirlNextDoor
Ep 24: Seeing Beyond the Senses- Mindsight, Intuition & Nervous System Regulation
2026/01/08
What if our sight isn’t limited to the physical eyes? In this episode of That Spiritual Girl Next Door, I’m joined by Dr. Brooke Soto — PhD, board-certified doctor of natural medicine, and founder of Quantum Bliss — for a grounded, expansive conversation about Mindsight: the ability to perceive beyond the physical senses. Stick around to hear Brooke demonstrate her mindsight during the episode, and turn into our YouTube channel to see (ha!) it for yourself.  Before the formal conversation begins, Brooke shares an unplanned moment about her lived experience as a mother to a non-speaking autistic child — a moment I chose to keep in because it offers important context for the world she operates in and the level of perception she’s deeply familiar with. Hang with me though because this episode is about MINDSIGHT!  From there, we explore: What Mindsight actually is (and what it isn’t)Why children access intuitive perception so naturallyHow adults can relearn perception beyond the analytical mindThe role of nervous system regulation and emotional balanceWhy play, curiosity, and trust matter more than effortHow intuition, imagination, and perception intersect in daily lifeThis is not a performance or a proof-based conversation — it’s an invitation to explore what may already be available to us when we soften, regulate, and listen differently. Ep. 23: Beyond Belief- What Happens When You Talk to the Sky
2025/12/02
Today’s guest, Jesse Collins—known on Instagram as @earlbob1964—has a unique early morning ritual: he steps into the darkness, prays to the Holy Spirit, and points his camera at the sky. More often than not, the sky responds—with a flash, an orb, or a shooting star that defies statistical probability. In this episode, Jesse shares: How his deeply Christian language is just one way of expressing a universal connectionWhat it feels like to be met by the sky in a moment of prayerWhy nothing happening is sometimes part of the processThe jaw-dropping footage he’s captured and what it might meanWe also explore: The difference between belief and resonanceThe math behind how rare his experiences areWhat “sprites” really are in atmospheric science (not fairies!)If you’ve ever gone outside, asked for a sign, and felt silly when nothing happened—this episode is for you. 🌀 Whether you call it God, Source, Universe, or Light—Jesse’s story reminds us that connection is possible. Ep. 22: Beyond Ghosts: My Family’s True Halloween Stories
2025/10/29
Not your typical Halloween episode. Yes, we touch on the history—Samhain, All Saints/All Souls, and Dia de los Muertos—but this isn’t a parade of jump scares. It’s an hour about the mystery inside all of us and the quiet ways it reaches out: six yellow butterflies for a grieving mom, a grandmother’s prayer that arrives like a voice at 2 a.m., a visit in an operating room that steadies a frightened heart, a college house where the air gets heavy, and an agnostic grandfather who catches a feather at the exact moment he needs reassurance. You don’t have to see the world the same way to meet in the middle—sometimes the bridge is built from our differences. If you’re craving an episode that honors faith and skepticism, intuition and reason, the sacred and the silly, this one’s for you. Stay for the stories; leave with a simple prompt to ask someone you love: “Have you ever had something happen you couldn’t explain?” In this episode: Samhain’s origins; how All Saints/All Souls reframed the season; Dia de los Muertos’ heart of remembrance; personal stories from my friend Anna, my grandmother, my mother-in-law, my friend Matt, and my dad; and a closing reflection on curiosity as a spiritual practice. Ep 21: What Dying Taught Jonathan Ashford About Living
2025/10/15
What really happens when you die — and how can that experience change the way you live? In this episode, Kelly sits down with Jonathan Ashford, a former C-level executive who flatlined for three hours after organ failure and came back completely transformed. His near-death experience (NDE) rewired everything — his understanding of love, time, source energy, and what actually matters in this life. Jonathan shares what it felt like to meet the Divine, what his life review taught him, and how those lessons now guide his work as an intuitive reader and spiritual coach. He even offers simple, practical ways to connect to the “other side” — without, you know… having to die first. This is one of the most insightful, moving conversations we’ve ever had on That Spiritual Girl Next Door — full of humor, heart, and wisdom you’ll want to replay again and again. In this short episode of That Spiritual Girl Next Door, I share two powerful stories—Pixar’s Soul and Neale Donald Walsch’s The Little Soul and the Sun—to explore what it means to be the light, why we sometimes forget, and how our true purpose isn’t about achievements at all… it’s about living fully. 🎧 A quick reflection you can carry into your day—full of heart, soul, and a reminder of why you’re here.
