Ep. 64: Tongue Posture + Mouth Tension: How They Impact Your Face, Breathing, Sleep + Health
2026/10/19
What if the way you breathe, swallow and hold your tongue is affecting more than just your oral health?
In this episode of Grounded Wellness, we’re joined by Jenae Ciuffreda, Bethany’s personal Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, to explore the surprising connections between tongue posture, mouth breathing, jaw tension, facial development and overall well-being.
Jenae explains how everyday habits we rarely think about may influence the way our faces develop, how we breathe and sleep, and even how we experience tension as we age. From the rise of mouth taping and mewing to jaw Botox, tongue ties and crowded teeth, she challenges conventional approaches that focus on treating symptoms without asking what’s causing them.
They also explore why early oral development matters so much for children, how modern diets and feeding habits may play a role in jaw development, and what our faces can reveal about underlying patterns of dysfunction.
Plus, Jenae walks Bethany through simple tongue posture and facial tension-release exercises you can try at home.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why tongue posture matters for breathing, swallowing and jaw function
The overlooked signs of airway dysfunction, from mouth breathing and snoring to jaw clenching and poor sleep
How oral function and chronic facial tension may influence facial appearance and aging
Why mewing and mouth taping aren't necessarily addressing the root cause
What jaw Botox can and can't do for clenching and grinding
How breastfeeding, tongue ties, chewing and early childhood habits relate to oral development
Why crowded baby teeth may be worth paying attention to
How modern diets and softer foods may be influencing jaw development
Simple exercises to explore tongue posture, lip function and facial tension

Ep. 63 Barbara O’Neill: Forgotten Remedies, Women’s Health + the Body’s Ability to Heal
2026/10/05
What if the most useful health practices aren’t new at all… but remedies we’ve forgotten? In this episode of Grounded Wellness, Bethany sits down with natural health educator Barbara O’Neill to explore the philosophy that has shaped her work for decades: the body has the ability to heal itself. Together, they unpack why Barbara questions many conventional approaches to health, the everyday practices she prioritizes and the natural remedies she believes are worth knowing about.Barbara also dives into women’s health and aging, including hormone balance, thyroid health, wild yam cream, fertility, postpartum and menopause, as well as her perspectives on Botox, breast implants, GLP-1s and cold exposure.Barbara encourages us to pay closer attention to our bodies, question what we’ve come to accept as normal and reconsider some of the simple health practices that may have been lost along the way. This conversation is an invitation to reconnect with your intuition and return to the kind of natural wisdom our great-grandmothers lived by.Let’s dig in.Resources:- Follow Barbara O’Neill: https://www.instagram.com/realbarbaraoneill/?hl=en- Learn more: https://www.barbaraoneill.com/- Sustain Me by Barbara O’Neill: https://www.barbaraoneill.com/collections/books/products/sustain-me- Wild Yam Cream: https://www.barbaraoneill.com/collections/herbal-remedies/products/wild-yam-cream-tre-lune?variant=56334477033853Explore More from Primally Pure:- Follow Bethany: https://www.instagram.com/bethanyjmcdaniel/- Shop Primally Pure: https://bit.ly/4e1HzVv- Blog: https://bit.ly/4gAeIsY- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/primallypure- TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@primallypure
Ep. 62: The Toxic Bucket: Mold, Parasites + Why You Might Be Detoxing in the Wrong Order
2026/09/21
What if the reason you’re not feeling better isn’t that you need to detox harder—but that you’re detoxing in the wrong order?
In this episode of Grounded Wellness, Bethany sits down with Dr. John Kim to unpack the “toxic bucket” and the hidden ways mold and environmental exposures may be impacting how you feel. Together, they explore why mold can be more than an allergy issue, the symptoms Dr. Kim commonly sees alongside mold exposure—from brain fog and gut issues to hormone disruption—and why some people continue struggling even after trying binders, supplements and other detox protocols.
Dr. Kim shares why he believes one of the biggest detox mistakes is simply doing too much, too soon. He breaks down his ENCORE framework, which starts with addressing your environment and regulating your nervous system before moving into cellular health, detox pathways, the microbiome and, ultimately, resiliency. He gets practical about supporting the process through sunlight, grounding, hydration, minerals and phospholipids, along with bile flow, liver support, sweating, sauna and breathwork.
They also dive into fungal and bacterial overgrowth, parasites, EMFs, peptides, longevity and the everyday foundations that Dr. Kim believes matter more than constantly chasing the next supplement or biohack. Most importantly, this conversation reframes detox as something that should have an end point. The goal isn’t to spend your life avoiding every exposure or following endless protocols—it’s to build enough resilience to get back to living your life fully.

Ep. 61: 15 Minutes A Day To Rewire Your Brain + Improve Your Health with Neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf
2026/09/02
In this episode of Grounded Wellness, Bethany sits down with Dr. Caroline Leaf—a clinical and research neuroscientist, communication pathologist and bestselling author who has spent over 40 years researching the mind-brain connection, neuroplasticity and the science of thought. Together, they explore how our thoughts can shape the brain and body, what it actually means to “rewire your brain,” and why learning to manage the mind may be a missing piece in our approach to mental and physical health.
Dr. Leaf shares her perspective on the rise of diagnosis culture and labels like ADHD, anxiety and depression, why difficult emotions can be valuable information, and how modern lifestyles may be influencing the way children think and behave. She and Bethany also unpack toxic positivity and why positive affirmations can sometimes act as a Band-Aid instead of addressing the root of a thought pattern, along with what it looks like to raise resilient kids who know how to process hard emotions.
Most importantly, Dr. Leaf gets practical, breaking down her 5-Step Neurocycle® for directing neuroplasticity and beginning to deconstruct and rebuild toxic thought patterns in as little as 15 minutes a day. They also discuss her research around anxiety, biological health and the mind-body connection, plus a simple “stress CPR” practice for moving from reaction to response in overwhelming moments. This conversation is ultimately a hopeful reminder that the patterns wired into your brain don't have to be permanent, and that you can play an active role in what you reinforce moving forward.

Ep. 60: Back-To-School: The Secret to Healthy Kids Starts Here
2026/08/19
In this back-to-school episode of Grounded Wellness, Bethany sits down with Hilary Boynton— chef, author, GAPS Certified Coach, mom of five and the founder of School of Lunch — to unpack what's really being served to kids at school and how parents can build a stronger foundation for their children's health through real, nutrient-dense food.
Hilary shares how her own family's health challenges led her to rethink everything she knew about nutrition and eventually transform a school lunch program from the ground up. Together, Bethany and Hilary explore the impact ultra-processed foods and blood sugar spikes can have on kids, why traditional and ancestral foods are disappearing from our diets, and what can happen when we return to simpler ways of nourishing our families.
They also get practical on what to feed kids for more stable, sustained energy, Hilary's favorite foods for supporting kids during back-to-school season, what to do with picky eaters, and why family dinner doesn't need to be complicated to be nourishing.
This conversation is a reminder that raising healthy kids doesn't require perfect meals or complicated recipes. It starts with rebuilding our connection to real food, teaching kids where their food comes from, and giving them a foundation they can return to for the rest of their lives.

What if better health isn't about adding more—but removing what's getting in the way?

2026/05/20
What happens when the biggest raw dairy farm in America goes head-to-head with the FDA?

Ep. 52: The Invisible Toxins in Your Home (Mold, EMFs + More) with Ryan Blaser
2026/04/15
For too long, we’ve been told that healing comes down to diet, supplements, and discipline. But what if the reason your protocols aren’t working is living inside your home?
In this episode of Grounded Wellness, Bethany sits down with building biologist and founder of Test My Home, Ryan Blaser to uncover the invisible toxins inside our homes that could be keeping us stuck in survival mode. Ryan is the expert Bethany turned to during her own experience with mold, helping her uncover and address the hidden environmental stressors in her home.
You’ll learn how mold actually affects the body (and why most testing misses it), where it hides in everyday spaces like washing machines and toilet tanks, and how EMFs from phones, Wi-Fi, and baby monitors add to your overall toxic load. They also explore how modern lighting disrupts your circadian rhythm, why “green” homes aren’t always healthy, and how your home functions as your body’s second skin.
Ryan shares practical ways to reduce exposure without overwhelm. Tune in to learn simple swaps, affordable air quality solutions, and realistic strategies to create a healthier home environment.
If you’ve been doing everything “right” but still don’t feel your best, this episode will shift how you think about health at its foundation.

Ep. 51: Beauty Burn-Out, Non-Toxic Make-up Swaps and What Really Causes Hyperpigmentation
2026/04/01
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by skincare, or like your routine isn’t working, this episode will help you reconnect with a more intuitive, effective, and natural approach to skin health.
In today’s world of microneedling, tiktok trends, and 12-step routines, it’s easy to feel like more skincare = better skin… but what if that’s actually the problem?
Tune-in to this episode of Grounded Wellness, where Bethany sits down with Primally Pure’s in-house holistic esthetician, Courtney, to unpack what’s really driving modern beauty culture and why a shift toward natural skincare, skinimalism, and circadian biology may be the key to truly healthy, resilient skin.
From clean make-up and minimalist routines to the truth about trending treatments like microneedling and radiofrequency, this conversation will completely reframe how you think about skincare.
Because your skin doesn’t need more products, it needs better support.
In this episode Bethany + Courtney cover:
Why the viral “morning shed” TikTok trend could be damaging your skin barrier and leading to long-term skin issues
The nuanced truth about microneedling, dermaplaning, and radiofrequency treatments– when they can help, when they can harm, and what most people aren’t told
The connection between circadian biology, sunlight, and skin health– including what happened to Bethany’s skin when she stopped wearing sunglasses
Clean make-up made simple: tinted SPF, non-toxic swaps, and the minimalist routine Courtney actually uses (plus the one product she can’t live without)
Our oil + water philosophy for truly hydrated skin– why most people are missing this step when they start using tallow and how to fix it
How facial massage and lymphatic drainage can transform your skin (and nervous system) without relying on invasive treatment
