Hey, Jude (Are You a Jacks?)
2026/10/27
General Hospital Snarkcast – Season 3 Episode 7 Recorded Tuesday, October 27, 2026 We’re a day late but not a dollar short on this week’s General Hospital Snarkcast! Mama Snark and Snark Jr. are back to break down a week in Port Charles where everyone is apparently making house calls in their pajamas, a certain lawyer is popping up in every storyline (and every doorbell), and a new face may have a very familiar last name. We also ask the important questions, like whether GH needs a Bare Chest of the Week, and where exactly the Ashfords sleep at night. This week we dig into Britt’s very good mood, the hospital’s mysterious new “HR department,” Trina’s latest tiny tantrum, Sonny gritting his teeth (again), and Cody’s ever-growing resume. Plus, the writers manage to write off a character who wasn’t even on the show, and we share what one actor revealed about how little the writers actually knew when they hired him. Spoiler: it confirms everything we’ve been saying. We also pick our characters of the week, plug our sister show The Snark Beyond the Gates, and Snark Jr. hands out his weekly homework with a realistic nighttime soap you can stream for free. Don’t miss our upcoming interview with Ryan’s Hope’s Ilene Kristen later this week! Like, subscribe, and let us know in the comments where you agree, or where we’re totally wrong. #GeneralHospital #GH #Snarkcast #SoapOpera #DaytimeDrama #PortCharles #GHRecap #SoapFan #Homefront Homefront: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP0mJ8JA4D0&list=PLV4Ztn9euy7Sl_bgTX45O4MY5rwenU9Ut WHERE YOU CAN FIND US: Follow General Hospital Snark on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ghsnark Find us on Substack where we do long-form articles and weekly recaps: https://ghsnark.substack.com/ GHSnark Patron Information: https://www.patreon.com/generalhospitalsnark Follow General Hospital Snark on Twitter (if you're still there...): @GHSnarky (we mainly do reposts. The Soap Whisperer: Tom Lisanti Spills Daytime's Secrets
2026/10/23
Soap historian and author Tom Lisanti joins Mama Snark and Snark, Jr. for a special episode of the General Hospital Snark Podcast to dig into his new book on Another World and the wild era when NBC stretched the soap to a full 90 minutes a day. How did a daytime drama end up running an hour and a half? Tom walks us through the chain of flops, cancellations, and network desperation that led to one of the boldest experiments in soap history. We get into what it actually took to produce 90 minutes of daily drama, from star contracts and marathon tape days to a behind-the-scenes pay battle the soap magazines never reported. Tom also shares how a rivalry with General Hospital's Luke and Laura era shaped NBC's fortunes, why so few people praised the writers of the time, and what the cast really thought versus what they told the press.Plus, Tom talks about how he went from accounting major to award-winning author, the stories behind his Ryan's Hope and Texas oral histories, and the primetime soap project he's working on next. Stick around for Part 2, when a very special Ryan's Hope guest joins the conversation.#GeneralHospital #AnotherWorld #RyansHope #TomLisanti
The Brady Bunch of Port Charles
2026/10/19
General Hospital Snarkcast – Season 3 Episode 6 Recorded Monday, October 19, 2026 Mama Snark had a rough night at the bar, Snark Jr. had a spooky encounter in front of his mirror, and a very official-sounding text has us worried about a certain Port Charles newcomer. Welcome back, Snarkies! In this week’s General Hospital recap, we’re fresh off our patron Shouty Sunday call and ready to tackle the parade of mystery men who have wandered into town over the last few months. Who are they? Where did they come from? Does anyone in the writers’ room know? We also check in on Willow’s legal strategy (our retired attorney patron has thoughts), the sudden return of the stalker storyline, and the growing list of bodies Port Charles would rather forget. It wasn’t all frustration, though. We spotlight the steady, grown-up voices keeping the show grounded: a Lulu who’s really coming into her own, Tracy soldiering through a cold, and a returning character who’s quietly filling a much-needed role. We also take on the plague of manufactured feuds, ask why so many characters are suddenly written out of character, and witness Trina’s Tiny Tantrum of the Week. Plus: our Characters of the Week, and the team-up we’re hoping GH has the good sense to follow through on. For Snark Jr.’s Soap Recommendation, we’re heading back to the early 2000s with Once and Again, a beautifully written family drama that’s streaming free on YouTube and features a couple of familiar General Hospital faces if you know where to look. If you love daytime drama, soap opera commentary, and a healthy dose of sass, like, follow, and subscribe, and check out Snark Jr.’s weekly recap on Substack. Willow Worries, Tracy Triumphs
2026/10/12
General Hospital Snarkcast – Season 3 Episode 5 Recorded Monday, October 12, 2026 Snark Jr. is looking remarkably refreshed this week (thank you, Dr. Mueller), and he and Mama Snark are back with Boo, our festive Halloween sidekick, to break down another wild week in Port Charles. In this General Hospital recap, we ask just how manufactured these new romantic pairings feel, wonder why the writers keep confusing grounding scenes with filler, and hand out Retcon of the Week honors. Plus: falcons, ticks, a gym with zero staff, and a growing list of characters shipped off to the new Teen Character Closet: Boarding School. It wasn’t all eye rolls, though. We celebrate the week’s big wins, including our Characters of the Week, a surprising scene between two women who rarely share the screen, and the continued rise of a certain kind and compassionate voice in town. We also weigh in on the Britt and Willow friendship nobody saw coming, Chase’s brain drain, the Sidwell mystery, and a new medical bromance we’re starting to root for. And yes, Marshall has a babysitting request. For Snark Jr.’s Soap Recommendation, we’re dipping into gothic Victorian drama with Penny Dreadful, a stylish, star-studded monster mash that’s perfect for spooky season (content warning: it’s definitely for grown-ups). And don’t miss our special bonus episode this week: a fascinating conversation with soap journalist Marlena De Lacroix on how daytime drama has changed over the decades. The "Poor Sonny" Week
2026/10/05
General Hospital Snarkcast – Season 3 Episode 4 Recorded Monday, October 5, 2026 It's Poor Sonny Week in Port Charles, Snarkies, and Mama Snark and Snark Jr. are here to break it all down. In this week's General Hospital recap, the entire town lines up to vilify Sonny for the one thing he (allegedly) didn't do, Grumpy Cat Dante makes his dreaded return, and the never-ending Liz and Dante chemistry test rolls on. Of course, it wasn't all bad news. We hand out the week's big wins, including some delightfully boozy Lucas scenes, a Lulu course correction nobody saw coming, and Saint Tracy dispensing wisdom one cup of tea at a time. We also sound off on Monet, the missing Serena, a bold Curtis prediction, and our Characters of the Week. And since Charlotte has been shipped off to boarding school in Maine, she might have something to say about it. Stick around for some love for Beyond the Gates, a shout-out to our sister page Snark Beyond the Gates, and Snark Jr.'s Soap Recommendation: a dishy new behind-the-scenes book on Another World's legendary 90-minute era, with a special author interview coming soon to the Snarkcast. If you're a daytime drama fan who loves soap opera commentary with a side of sarcasm, hit like, follow, and subscribe. We watch so you don't have to. Deja View: GH's Repetition Problem
2026/09/28
General Hospital Snarkcast – Season 3 Episode 3Recorded Monday, September 28, 2026David is still fighting off illness this week, but that does not stop the Snark Team from tearing into General Hospital's repetitive storytelling problem. They break down why so many plots feel stuck on a loop lately, from a character's abrupt off-screen exit and unexpected return to the never-ending accident fallout that keeps getting dropped and picked back up. They also dig into the show's habit of introducing new characters without giving them any real context or follow through. The hosts share their thoughts on some tense teen storylines, a surprising moment of maturity from one usually chaotic character, and a soapy full circle conversation between two exes that raises more questions than it answers. There is also debate over how the show handles its female characters, a shoutout to a scene-stealing minor character, and their picks for character of the week.Plus, an unexpected text message shakes things up mid-recording, and David shares his soap classic pick, a deep dive into a General Hospital episode from December 1987. Port Charles is Upside Down!
2026/09/21
General Hospital Snarkcast – Season 3 Episode 2 Recorded Monday, September 21, 2026 Mama and Junior are both under the weather, but that does not stop them from breaking down a genuinely chaotic week on General Hospital. They dig into a budding new romance getting some sweet gym scenes, question whether Lulu is being set up with an unexpected match, and marvel at the parade of new male characters flooding Port Charles who all seem to blend together. The blame game around the ongoing accident storyline gets picked apart in detail, along with a Brooklyn and Chase situation that has both hosts ready to move on, a tense Trina and Curtis conversation that goes in circles, and a WSB shake up that has Anna's future hanging in the balance. There is also talk of a fan favorite finally being written in character again, plus speculation about where Willow's story is headed next. As always, they close out with their character of the week picks, a suprize text about some gym gossip, and David's soap classic recommendation, a deep dive into a big General Hospital event from over a decade ago. It is a shorter episode this week, but there is still plenty to unpack. Like, follow, and subscribe, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. The Snarkcast Returns! New Season, New Snark
2026/09/14
General Hospital Snarkcast – Season 3 Episode 1The Snarkcast is back for season three! Mama Snark and Snark, Jr. open with a heartfelt tribute to the late Nina Shipman (aka Wicked Stepmother) before diving into everything General Hospital did while they were on break, and there is a lot to unpack. The so-called "Pikeman Accident" storyline gets torn apart scene by scene, with Curtis, Jordan, and Trina all taking heat for how far their characters have strayed from who they used to be.The hosts debate whether Jason and Britt have any real chemistry compared to Val and Carly, question why Chase and Willow still have not gone all in on their will they won't they tension, and name Drew and Willow their scene of the week for finally playing their cat-and-mouse game to the hilt. Mama Snark gives her character of the week nod to Anna, while David goes a different direction entirely with a pick that has nothing to do with the front burner drama.Plus, David shares his season three soap recommendation, the newly restored 4K director's cut of Studio 54, and the Wicked Stepmother Texts segment returns with a surprise message from a certain Executive Producer. Soap Journalism — From Fan Mags to Fake News
2026/08/24
General Hospital Snarkcast – Special Episode with Connie Hayman Before Twitter had "spoilers," before Facebook had claim-to-fame scoopers, there were rooms full of writers who actually knew Susan Lucci. This week we sit down with soap journalism royalty Connie Passalacqua Hayman - better known to three generations of fans as Marlena de la Croix - for the origin story of an entire genre: how a "let's try this and see" experiment by Paul Dennis turned into thirteen competing magazines, network-funded trips to Yugoslavia, and a Disney World takeover called Super Soap Weekend. Connie takes us from her first job at Teen Beat through the golden age when ABC and Procter & Gamble treated journalists like family - flowers, junkets, open-door access - to today's landscape of ghosted publicists, algorithm-fed access lists, and AI-generated death hoaxes masquerading as news. Along the way: Gloria Monty's outdoor stunts, the Vietnam Wall remote that won Connie a GLAAD Award, why nobody's training new soap writers anymore, and her one-woman (so far) crusade to start a Soap Opera Press Association. It's part history lesson, part therapy session, and part rallying cry for anyone who still thinks the truth is worth getting in trouble for. Grab your Tiger Beat, settle in, and let's talk about the beginning, the middle, and, hopefully not, the end of soap journalism. The Same Room Snarkcast
2026/08/18
General Hospital Snarkcast - Recorded Monday, August 17, 2026 IN THE SAME ROOM! Mama Snark and David are somehow in the same room this week, a first in Snarkcast history, having just wrapped their inaugural NYC meetup. There were lottery tickets to Book of Mormon, third row center, because David apparently knows every box office employee in Manhattan. There was also a hat with a soap opera pedigree so tangled it deserves its own investigative unit, connecting a Snarkcast patron to Tabyana Ali to the actual stalker photo board on GH. Six degrees of separation, but make it a hat. Then it's back to the business of Port Charles being a mess. Curtis gets sentenced to prison and somehow radiates zero humility about it, which tracks since his daughter Trina is currently having a tantrum over the fourteen devastating minutes she once spent away from her parents. Michael, meanwhile, has discovered the art of calm, quiet menace, locking Willow in the gatehouse and confiscating her passport like a man who watched one too many custody documentaries. Rounding out the chaos: Joss delivers a boundary-setting speech to Hudson so thorough it should come with a syllabus, Charlotte and Danny hatch a plan to eventually maybe have a plan to take down Drew, and Jason Morgan has started wearing collared shirts, which the hosts have correctly identified as full-blown character foreshadowing. Also on the docket, a very serious debate over who deserves a one-way trip to the character closet. The results from the event were unanimous. Sorry, Kai. GH's Wheel of Really Weird Plots
2026/08/10
General Hospital Snarkcast - Recorded Monday, August 10, 2026 GH's writers dusted off the alternative plot wheel this week, and it landed on pure chaos. New faces are stirring up old chemistry, a shocking mob decision came out of absolutely nowhere, and a courtroom trial had us questioning everyone's law degree, including the lawyer's. Add in a stalker plot with more suspects than a game of Clue, a record producer with questionable business casual attire, and a Quartermaine scene that reminded us why this show can still deliver a masterclass when it wants to. We're breaking it all down, rejected plots and all. Plus, we've got a classic episode dig from 1981 with a surprise royal cameo, a soap rec that'll make you nostalgic for leg warmers, and big news about our first ever live meetup in New York City this Sunday. Grab your coffee (or clean up whatever you just spilled) and settle in. Groundhog Day at General Hospital
2026/08/03
General Hospital Snarkcast - Recorded Monday, August 3, 2026 It’s Groundhog Day in Port Charles, as everyone seems to have reset back to 2024. Mama Snark and Snark, Jr. are back for this week’s Snarkcast, and honestly, it's a lot. Mama kicks things off with a “real life” hospital visit that somehow turns into a monologue about how every floor looks the same and the doctors won't stop arguing in the hallway, which, weirdly, is also just a normal Tuesday on General Hospital. From there it's straight into the chaos: a shocking last-minute recast that lasted exactly four episodes, a mystery man named Hudson who is decidedly not a hockey player, and a physical transformation so suspicious that Mama has a full theory involving secret nighttime workouts. Then there's Nina, doing what Nina does best, which is absolutely losing her mind in the most delightful way possible, earning her a well-deserved character of the week nod. Ghost Peter is back to haunt poor Anna with all the subtlety of a Shakespearean fog machine, and Mama and Junior dig into why the hospital looks like it's been abandoned since the Reagan administration, staffed apparently by one head nurse, three orderlies, and infinite invisible doctors. They also dust off a classic 1983 episode featuring Luke in a bathtub, and a nurses strike caused by mass food poisoning. Also on deck: a heads up about Curtis's upcoming trial that you'll want to prepare for accordingly, an update on the ever chaotic Willow and Drew saga that has everyone feeling like they've been shoved into a time machine, and details on the sold out live show in New York happening in less than two weeks, complete with a possible surprise guest that even Mama doesn't know about. Grab your shot glasses, this one's a ride. SORASed, Britchy, and Stalked
2026/07/27
General Hospital Snarkcast - Recorded Monday, July 27, 2026 This week on the General Hospital Snarkcast: Nina delivers an all-time campperformance as Willow's master plan collapses in spectacular fashion, and Drewtakes an unscheduled dip we all know won't stick thanks to spoilers. Anna's post-haircut logic has officially left the building — one breath she's blasting Chase for investigating on his own, the next she's begging him to secretly digup dirt on Britt. Speaking of Britt, the hosts make the case that she's been rewritten as a spoiled brat when what the story actually calls for is trauma; there's a difference, and GH knows it, because they nailed that exact tone withJason and Rocco. Trina's new stalker plot has the internet buzzing with Spencer retcon theories (we’re a little short on the Cassadines these days), while Scout 2.0gets SORASed straight into sassy teenager territory with zero on-screen buildup, plus an uncomfortably fast crush on her own "brother's" orbit. Stella's mysterious HR promotion, Liz getting shuffled into random plots with noexplanation, and the utterly baffling Brick/Valentine basketball detour also get torn apart. Then it's a palate-cleansing trip back to 1987 for a delightfully unhinged DVX mind-control caper starring Sean Cassidy, with Robertand Anna in full chase mode, and early Lucy Coe scheming. Also: Mean Girls, watched for the first time ever (yes, really). New York meetup tickets are almost gone — grab one before they're history. 16 Times the Snark!
2026/07/20
General Hospital Snarkcast - Recorded Monday, July 20, 2026 This Week... 16 is the Magic Number! Mama Snark and Snark Jr. have big news: the first-ever GH Snark live gathering in New York City is officially a go, with only 30 spots up for grabs, so don't dawdle. But first, they've got a week so stuffed with milestones it needed its own numerology. Jason's back, Portia had her baby, Jack and Nina finally locked lips, and the number 16 somehow wormed its way into practically every scene tied to the show's landmark 16,000th episode. Steve Burton returns looking suitably broken, earning both an Emmy nomination and Mama Snark's full devotion, while a mysterious new WSB doctor named Tristan Roberts stirs up conspiracy theories and a meet-cute with Britt that's really more of a "meet angry." Meanwhile, Portia gives birth sitting bolt upright in what may be the least medically accurate delivery in daytime history, and somehow that's not even the most frustrating parenting decision of the week. Then there's Cody, forced to tell replacement James the truth about Cassius while poor Gary James Fuller recovers from a bicycle accident off-screen. Add in a shiny new "Soap Classic" segment digging up a 1981 Luke and Laura gem, a Peacock binge recommendation, and Trina having not one but two tiny tantrums, and Mama Snark and Snark Jr. have more than enough to snark their way through. Confessions, Truths, and Consequences
2026/07/15
General Hospital Snarkcast - Recorded Monday, July 13, 2026 Everybody told on everybody this week — Danny ratted out Rocco to Brennan, Brooklyn caved to Chase before he even finished his sentence, and Jordan casually admitted to months of undercover work like it was no big deal. It's like Port Charles collectively decided honesty was the new currency, except nobody thought through what happens after the confession. Lulu keeps proving she's the same person as Carly, just fifteen years younger and somehow angrier about it, while Curtis rationalizes his way through a conversation with Marty that just shows how deluded he really is.On the character front: Van Hansis quietly proves Lucas finally has a pulse after years of Stoic City, Joss graduates from the Scooby gang to running with the WSB big leagues, and Valentine gets his redemption arc AND his women back in the same episode — no small feat for a guy who was in the attic as a fugitive two minutes ago. Brit discovers her terminal illness was gaslighting all along, and Jonathan Bennett's adorableness single-handedly rescued Joe Fitzpatrick from personality purgatory. And then there's the stuff nobody can quite explain: Anna's memories are back but her Jumanji wallpaper is not going anywhere, Serena Baldwin returns aged up decades with little warning, and the cold fusion machine apparently required a moving truck despite David assuming it was microchip-sized. Plus, Chase’s surprising read on Lucy Coe, a $5 bill that somehow means everything, and a soap recommendation set in 1950s Spain that has absolutely nothing to do with General Hospital. Mama and Junior Snark break it all down — grab your soap, folks, it's another biggest week ever.Soap Recommendation: Alguien Tiene que Morir (Someone Must Die), on Netflix.Snarkie Gathering in NYC on August 16.
