E:116: Judged After Divorce? Jesus Says Go in Peace
2026/10/23
If you’ve been judged after divorce, by other people or by yourself, I want you to hear this: God’s peace for you doesn’t depend on what anyone else thinks of you. In Luke 7:36–50, a woman Luke never names comes to Jesus’ feet at the home of a Pharisee named Simon. She never says a word. Simon judges her silently, and Jesus answers what he never said out loud. Then Jesus turns toward her and asks the question that makes everyone at that table look at her again: “Do you see this woman?” In this episode, we walk through seven moments in this one dinner: The room has already decided who she is She comes to His feet, without a single word Jesus answers what Simon never says The two debtors, and why this parable isn’t a ranking of whose sin is worse “Do you see this woman?” and every welcome she gave in Simon’s place “Who is this?” and how the way each of them saw Jesus shaped how they treated Him “Go in peace,” the same words Jesus spoke to the bleeding woman in episode 112 Then I walk you through the path I take every woman I coach on, so you can carry a peace that doesn’t depend on a single person in the room. If you’ve ever walked into a room where people already decided who you are, this episode is for you. E:115: What God Says to Divorced Women Through the Widow No One Noticed
2026/10/15
A divorce recovery episode for the woman who makes sure everything gets done, and wonders if anyone notices what it costs her to do so. Jesus once sat down across from the temple treasury and watched a widow give two small coins. Here's what He noticed that no one else did. If you're a divorced Christian woman carrying more than anyone around you can see, this episode is for you. We walk slowly through Mark 12:38–44 and look at: • Why Scripture places the widow and the divorced woman side by side (Leviticus 22, Numbers 30) • The thirteen collection chests in the temple courts, and how God always made room for the poor in worship • The phrase Mark uses for what she gave: her whole life • The two things Jesus noticed in that courtyard, and what His disciples noticed instead • Why the invitation isn't to give more, but to carry what you give differently • God's promise in Isaiah 54 to the widow and the deserted wife: "your Maker is your husband" Scriptures referenced: Mark 12:28–44; Mark 13:1–2; Leviticus 5; Leviticus 22:13; Numbers 30:9; Psalm 68:5; Luke 2:24; 2 Corinthians 8:12; Philippians 4:11–13; James 1:27; Luke 7:16; Isaiah 54:4–6 Sources: John Calvin, Commentary on a Harmony of the Evangelists (Mark 12:41–44) and Commentary on 1 Timothy (5:5); Mishnah, Shekalim 6:1, 6:5 WAYS TO GO DEEPER: 🌱 Roots: a free, gentle way to start your mornings with God when your mind is already running ahead of you. Each day is short, rooted in Scripture, and written for the woman rebuilding after divorce. You'll also get my weekly email with insider updates on what God is doing in this work. ☕ Rooted Clarity Call: free, 45 minutes, virtual coffee with me: If you're ready to look at the list you've been carrying and sort out what God has actually handed you from what you've been carrying on your own, this is where we start. We'll talk through where you are, what's keeping you stuck, and whether coaching together is the right next step. No pressure, just clarity. 📖 The Faith Effect: 9 Women, 9 Stories, One God Who Changes Everything I was invited to share the journey God took me on during the first 66 days post divorce, alongside eight other women's stories of faith. E:114: What God Says to Divorced Women Through the Woman Who Wouldn't Leave
2026/10/09
This divorce recovery episode is for divorced Christian women who are leaning into God harder than ever, and some days, hearing only silence back. In Matthew 15 and Mark 7, a mother from outside Israel comes to Jesus because her little girl is suffering and she can't fix it. At first, He doesn't answer her a word. His disciples tell Him to send her away. And she doesn't leave. Every time she speaks, she calls Him Lord, and every time, she comes a little closer. We'll step into her scene together, read both accounts in full, and sit with what Jesus finally says to her: "O woman, great is your faith." In this episode: • Why God's silence isn't the end of the conversation • The voices that told her to go away quietly, and why she chose not to listen • What "even the dogs eat the crumbs" really shows about her faith • How this Canaanite mother connects to Rahab, Tamar, and the widow of Zarephath • Bringing God exactly what you need, especially when it's for your children • Seeing a stretching season as refining, and why that's different from a harmful situation • What Jesus says about the woman who comes close Ways to Keep coming closer: • Download Roots, my free 7-day devotional: a gentle way to start your mornings with God for a week. E:113: What God Says to Divorced Women Through the Woman Caught in Adultery
2026/10/02
The woman caught in adultery didn't get caught alone. The law required both the man and the woman to face judgment, so why was she the only one drug before Jesus? The answer exposes her accusers. And the only One with the right to condemn her refused to. If you've carried the public story of your divorce by yourself, this episode is for you. In John 7:53–8:11, the crowd came with a verdict already decided. Jesus overruled it, and not one of her accusers threw a stone. But after a divorce, it's easy to keep holding the stones we've picked up, and to throw them at our ex and ourselves. In this episode: Why the man's absence tells you what this was really about Why the brackets around this story in your Bible don't change what it means for you Six things in John 8 you don't want to miss, including the trap with no safe answer and why He spoke to her, not about her "Neither do I condemn you": why her freedom came before the command Four ways to set your stones down: receive it, release yourself, release your ex, and go What forgiving your ex does not mean, including going back, unlimited access, or staying in danger A coaching exercise: the letter to the woman you used to be Whether the story people heard about you wasn't true, or your story is harder to say out loud, you are not the exception in this episode. You are not the story someone else told about you. You are His, and you are forgiven. E:112: What God Says to Divorced Women Through the Bleeding Woman He Healed
2026/09/25
For twelve years, one woman lived under a label she couldn't escape: unclean. No touch. No temple. No community — and by law, anyone who touched her became unclean too. So when she reaches through a packed crowd just to touch the hem of Jesus's robe, she's not just breaking a social rule. She's risking exposure, public rebuke, and implicating everyone she brushes against to get there. In this episode, we walk through what she actually risked, what "daughter" — thygatēr in the Greek — meant coming from Jesus in that specific moment, and the Old Testament thread hiding in the word for the "hem" she reached for: the same word used for Ruth's covering, the tassels commanded in Numbers, and the "healing in his wings" promised in Malachi. If you've ever wondered whether you still belong in the room — in your church, in your own story, in your relationship with God — this episode is for you. 🌱 Grab the Free 7-day Roots devotional 📞 Ready to go Deeper? E:111: The One Thing You're Avoiding After Divorce Is the Thing That Heals You
2026/09/17
There's a woman in Luke 10 who does everything right — and Jesus tells her the thing she's avoiding is the thing she actually needs. It's nearly four years since my own divorce, and God is still teaching me that same lesson, in places I didn't expect. There's a woman in Luke 10 who does everything a good host, a good servant, a good woman "should" do — and Jesus tells her the very thing she's avoiding is the one thing that would actually heal her. In this episode, I take you into a house of my own — one without a single bed set up in it yet — and into a kitchen in Bethany, where a woman named Martha heard something she wasn't expecting either. We look at both scenes of Mary's story (Luke 10:38–42 and John 12:1–8), what it means that Christ commended the unconventional choice and corrected the conventional one, and what the Hebrew words behind "wait on the Lord" actually mean — not passivity, but the refusal to seize control. If you're a high-capacity woman who can't sit still without feeling guilty, who has mistaken busy-ness for strength, or who's been using motion to avoid the one thing God is actually inviting you into — this episode is for you. I also share more of my own ongoing lesson in this — including what perimenopause has had to teach me about strength that has nothing to do with pushing harder. If you're a high-capacity woman who can't sit still without feeling guilty, who has mistaken busy-ness for strength — this episode is for you.   If this episode named something in you, I'd be so grateful if you'd leave a review on Apple Podcasts and subscribe wherever you're listening — it's one of the main ways another woman finds this show right when she needs it. 🔗 Free 7-day devotional (Roots): roots.coachkatieanne.com 🔗 Book a Rooted Clarity Call: coachkatieanne.com/call 🔗 Preorder The Faith Effect (out Oct 10) If this episode named something in you, the single most helpful thing you can do to help another woman find it is leave a review on Apple Podcasts and follow or subscribe wherever you're listening right now. E:110: What God Says to Divorced Women Through the Woman No One Expected God to Use
2026/09/11
Rahab is introduced in Scripture by the worst label her culture could give a woman — and that word never goes away. Not in Joshua. Not in Hebrews. Not in James. But a few generations later, that same woman is written into the family line of Jesus, and called faithful in the same breath Scripture still calls her "the prostitute." In this episode, I walk through three moments in Rahab's story — the spies she hid and lied for, the scarlet cord tied in her window, and the family tree she ended up in generations later — because her story answers a question a lot of divorced women carry quietly: does what happened to you become who you are? If you've ever felt like a label — from your marriage, your church, or your own self-judgment — got to decide who you're allowed to be next, this episode is for you. Scripture referenced (ESV): Joshua 2:1, 9–11, 12–13, 18–19 — Rahab's confession, her request for ḥesed, the spies' instructions Joshua 6:20, 22–23, 25 — the wall falls, Rahab's household is brought out, "she has lived in Israel to this day" Matthew 1:5 — Rahab named in the genealogy of Jesus Hebrews 11:31 — "By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish" James 2:25 — "Was not Rahab the prostitute justified by works" Also referenced (general theme, not read live): Hosea, Ezekiel 16, and Jeremiah 3 — Israel itself described as spiritually unfaithful Beyond Believing was recently named one of the top 10 Christian divorce podcasts on the web — thank you for being part of why this show is reaching more women than ever.  Connect + Continue: Free 7-day devotional, Roots → roots.coachkatieanne.com Rooted Clarity Call (1:1) → www.coachkatieanne.com/call Leave a review & follow/subscribe — if this episode met you somewhere real, the most helpful thing you can do to help another woman find it is leave a review on Apple Podcasts and follow or subscribe wherever you listen. E: 109: What God Says to Divorced Women Through the Wife Nobody Chose
2026/09/04
I always assumed the beloved wife is the one God favors. Genesis says otherwise. Rachel had her husband's devotion. Leah had God's attention. And it's Leah's line — not Rachel's — that carries the Messiah forward. In this episode, we walk through Genesis 29–31 and 35: the wedding-night deception nobody saw coming, the sister nobody chose, and the rivalry that followed between two women wounded in completely different directions. We look at what Scripture actually says about Leah's eyes and Rachel's beauty, why the Bible narrates polygamy without ever endorsing it, and why God chose to carry the entire future of Israel — kings and priests alike — through the wife nobody wanted. If you've ever felt like you were on the outside of where love was landing, unchosen, unseen, or like your worth depended on someone else's choice — this episode is for you. E:108: What God Says to Divorced Women Through the Widow Judah Abandoned
2026/08/26
Beyond Believing was recently named one of the top Christian divorce podcasts on the web by FeedSpot. Thank you to everyone who listens, shares, and leaves a review — this recognition exists because of you.  You have probably felt left to fend for yourself at some point in your marriage or your divorce — exposed, discarded, uncovered by someone who was supposed to protect you. That wound is real, and it is ancient. In Genesis 38, a widow named Tamar lived that exact abandonment, denied a husband, an heir, a future, and covering by the one man responsible for her. Judah assumed the worst about her. God did not. In this episode, I walk through Tamar's full story — what she actually did once she realized the promise made to her would never be kept, what Judah admitted about her when the truth finally surfaced, and why God wrote her directly into the lineage of Jesus. This is a study in what it means that God's presence isn't always loud, but it is never absent. Scripture referenced:  Genesis 38 — Tamar's complete narrative Genesis 37:31–33 — haker-na / recognition Genesis 39 — immediate literary context Genesis 44:18–34 — transformed Judah Genesis 49:8–10 — Judah and the royal line Deuteronomy 25:5–10 — later codification of levirate obligation Ruth 4:9–12 — Tamar explicitly remembered Ruth 4:18–22 — Perez to David 1 Chronicles 2:3–15 — Judah/Perez/David genealogy Matthew 1:1–6 — Tamar deliberately named in Christ's genealogy Luke 3:23–33 — Perez in Jesus' genealogy Connect with Me: 📖 Free 7-Day Devotional (Roots): roots.coachkatieanne.com 🌿 Selah Community: coachkatieanne.storehousewellness.co 📞 Private Coaching (Rooted Clarity Call): www.coachkatieanne.com/call divorced Christian women, Christian divorce podcast, Bible study for divorced women, Genesis 38 Tamar, biblical womanhood after divorce, God did not abandon you, Christian divorce recovery, women in the Bible podcast, healing after divorce faith, identity in Christ after divorce #ChristianDivorce #DivorcedChristianWomen #BeyondBelieving #GenesisBibleStudy #TamarAndJudah #GodDidNotAbandonYou #ChristianPodcastForWomen #BiblicalWomanhood #FaithAfterDivorce #IdentityInChrist
E:107: What God Wants to Give You (If You'll Stop Performing Long Enough to Receive It)
2026/08/21
After my divorce, I learned I was fluent in giving and illiterate in receiving. It's taken four ordinary years — and three places in Scripture — to teach me the difference between performing love and actually receiving it. This episode is that story. Beyond Believing was just named one of FeedSpot's Top 14 Christian Divorce Podcasts — thank you for being part of why this show is reaching more women than ever. https://podcast.feedspot.com/christian_divorce_podcasts/ For most of my life, the kitchen was where I knew exactly who I was — cooking, feeding the people I loved, being the one everyone could rely on. After my divorce, that same kitchen went quiet, and I had to face something I didn't expect: I knew how to perform every role I had. What I didn't know was how to receive. In this episode, I'm walking you through the quiet, four-year lesson God has been teaching me since my divorce — through three places in Scripture (Isaiah 54, Ephesians 3, and Psalm 68) and through the two pieces of evidence in my own life that show me how far that lesson has actually taken me: nearly a full year of true singleness, and finishing my Bachelor's degree. If you've ever found yourself still reaching for someone to prove you're worth staying for — or you've decided the opposite, that being known isn't safe, so you just keep giving instead — this episode is for both of you. The answer is the same: learning to receive from God first. SCRIPTURE REFERENCED (ESV) - Isaiah 54:4–8 — "Your Maker is your husband" - Ephesians 3:16–21 — rooted and grounded in love, power to grasp it - Psalm 68:5–6 — Father to the fatherless, defender of widows, who sets the lonely in families - Philippians 1:6 — "he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion"   CONNECT + CONTINUE - Grab Your Free 7-day devotional, Roots, Here  - Book a Free Rooted Clarity Call (1:1) → www.coachkatieanne.com/call - Leave a review & follow/subscribe — if this episode met you somewhere real, the most helpful thing you can do to help another woman find it is leave a review on Apple Podcasts and follow or subscribe wherever you listen.  Know someone who needs this episode? I Judged Samson for Being a Fool. Then God Showed Me I Was One Too.
2026/08/13
A few days ago I was on a walk, listening to Judges 16, and I couldn't believe how obviously foolish Samson was being — three times warned, three times he handed Delilah more of himself anyway. Then a second thought stopped me cold: how obvious is it to the people who love me, when I'm doing the exact same thing? This episode is the answer to that question. It's the story of a walk that turned into a confession, a chapter in Judges I'd read past a hundred times, and a framework tucked inside Psalm 37 that I'd never actually followed all the way through — trust, delight, commit, be still, wait patiently, surrender the anxiety, and only then, abundant peace. Samson skipped straight to the desire of his heart and left out everything that was supposed to come first. I did the same thing for seventeen years of marriage, dressed up in wisdom that looked biblical and wasn't. Wel'll walk through: Judges 16:4, 15–17, 20  — the one time Scripture says Samson loved anyone, and why it's the relationship that cost him everything Psalm 37:3–5, 7, 11 — the seven-step order Psalms gives for a heart to actually receive what it's aching for Why "delight yourself in the Lord" isn't the whole promise — it's step two of seven, and the psalm proves it by ending exactly where it began My own 66 days, and the six words I heard in the quietest, emptiest room of my life This episode is for you if… You've ever judged someone else's obviously bad choice and then had to sit with how blind you were to your own You did "everything a woman is supposed to do" and still ended up on ground that gave way You want to be loved so badly you've stopped asking whether it's safe to hand your heart over You've closed the door on wanting anything at all, because wanting got you hurt last time You're tired of stopping at "delight in the Lord" without knowing how to receive what it promises Scripture References Judges 16:4,15–17, 20  Psalm 37:3 -11  Additional Resources for this episode: Daniel I. E:105: I Built My Marriage Wrong From the Start. God Showed Me Why.
2026/08/07
I had the intact home. The husband. Five kids. On paper, nothing was wrong. Everyone on the outside thought we had the ideal home. This week, I'm telling you what was actually happening underneath it — and about a woman in Scripture whose story I read years before my own marriage and never understood until it was already too late to have it going in. In this episode, we go back to Genesis 24 — the marriage the Bible describes in more detail than almost any other — and I show you exactly who Rebekah was, what the servant was actually testing for at the well, and why her answer to her family's question ("will you go?") mattered as much as anything else in the story. Then I connect it to my own foundation: growing up in a home shaped by my parents' divorce, the vow I made to give my own kids something different, and how I ended up building the exact thing I swore I'd never repeat — not because I didn't love my family, but because I didn't yet have the character Rebekah already had, long before anyone was testing her for it. If you're a divorced Christian woman rebuilding a home, a faith, or an identity from the ground up — this episode is for you. 📖 Scriptures referenced: Genesis 24:2–9, 12–14, 57–58 | Genesis 18:19 | Genesis 12:1–9 | Proverbs 30:21–23 | James 1:27 📅 Apply for coaching (Rooted Clarity Call) 🌱 Start with the free 7-day devotional: ROOTS 💛 Join The Selah Community  Ready to build a foundation like Rebekah's? E:104: What You Haven't Heard About Divorce in the Bible
2026/07/31
God once commanded a prophet to marry a woman known for infidelity — not after she cleaned up her life, but in the middle of it. This episode is about what that means for you. Book a Rooted Clarity Call at coachkatieanne.com/call God told the prophet Hosea to marry a woman who kept running back to other men. Not once — repeatedly. For centuries, that story has been read as being about her sin. It isn't. It's about how far God will go to buy back what He already calls His own. This episode opens a new thread on Beyond Believing: women in Scripture who carried a reputation nobody expected God to redeem. Outcast. Adulteress. Foreigner. The unloved wife. We're starting with Gomer — and with the question so many divorced women carry quietly into church every week: does remarriage after divorce make me an adulteress? Katie Anne walks through Hosea 1–3 in full, alongside Mark 10, Malachi 2, and Romans 7 — not as a debate, but as a chance to actually hear these passages in the context they were written from. You'll discover: What it actually meant, legally and culturally, for a woman in Hosea's day to be marked as "a wife of whoredom" — and why God commanded Hosea to marry her while she was still living that reputation, not after • What Hosea's payment in Hosea 3:1–2 — thirty shekels, the exact legal price of a slave — reveals about the price God pays for people who have nothing to offer in return • What Malachi 2:16 actually says when you read past verse 16 to see who it was written to rebuke • Why Jesus's words in Mark 10 were a correction aimed at the men loosening their own standards — not a tightening of the noose on divorced women • How Pastor Matt Emadi's teaching on Romans 7:1–6 reframes what "called an adulteress" actually means for a woman who has remarried This is not an episode about whether you're allowed back in. This is an episode about a God who paid full price for you before you had anything to prove. This episode is for you if… A verse has been quoted at you like a verdict — about your divorce, your remarriage, or both — and you've quietly started to believe Scripture doesn't have room for your specific story • You've sat in a pew feeling like "divorced" is the label that gets read before anything else about you does • You've remarried, or you're considering it, and a passage like Romans 7 has left you privately unsettled about where you stand • You've watched a pastor go visibly uncomfortable teaching on marriage and divorce and walked away with more questions than you came in with • You believe God forgives — but some quiet part of you still wonders if you're the exception this time • You've decided you have to prove your worth, your safety, or your standing before anyone — including God — can be trusted with it Scripture References: Hosea 1:2 — read aloud in full · God's command to Hosea • Hosea 3:1–2 — read aloud in full · the price paid to buy Gomer back • Malachi 2:16 — quoted in part, with surrounding context (vv. 11–16) discussed • Mark 10:1–12 — discussed, not read verbatim · Jesus and the Pharisees on divorce • Romans 7:1–3 — paraphrased on air · full teaching in Pastor Emadi's linked sermon • Exodus 21:32 — referenced · the legal price of a slave • Deuteronomy 22 — referenced · the bride-price and token of purity • Revelation 3:20 — referenced · God's ongoing pursuit Referenced Teachers & Theologians: Douglas Stuart — Word Biblical Commentary, Hosea • Raymond Ortlund Jr. — God's Unfaithful Wife • R.C. E:103: You Don't Have to Stop Grieving to Start Trusting God
2026/07/23
Grief has been close this month — the sudden loss of a beloved young friend, and the grief so many women carry for a marriage that ended. In this episode, Katie shares two kinds of grief she sees in the women she works with, a truth from a pastor who buried his own son, and the promise in Scripture that lets you grieve and trust God at the same time — without letting grief become who you are. Scripture referenced: Romans 8:17, Isaiah 61:1–3, Isaiah 53:5, 1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 If this gave you language you didn't have before, I'd love to sit with you in it. E:102: How to Feel Safe After Divorce When You've Never Known God's Covering
2026/07/16
Have you ever thought, "I just don't let people in anymore"? There's a verse people misuse to make women like you feel guilty for being guarded — but the truth is far kinder than the guilt. In this episode, I'm unpacking Matthew 23:37 — the moment Jesus grieves over Jerusalem's willful rejection of Him — and why that passage has nothing to do with a woman who's simply never been shown true, godly covering. Through Ruth's reach for Boaz's covering and the woman who touched the hem of Jesus's robe after twelve years of exclusion, we'll uncover what it actually means to receive protection you didn't earn — and what God has been teaching me, personally, about finally letting that covering in. Scripture referenced: Matthew 23:37, Exodus 19:4, Ruth 3:9, Matthew 9:20-22 Ready to go deeper?
