“This Doesn’t Feel Blessed": Purity Culture & Painful Sex | ft. Meg Cowan
2026/04/14
You were told if you waited, sex would be blessed… so what happens when it hurts instead?
In this episode, I sit down with sexologist Meg Cowan to unpack the real impact of purity culture on our bodies, relationships, and sex lives.
Meg shares her story of growing up in purity culture, waiting until marriage, and then realizing—sex was painful and anything but “blessed.” That experience led her to question everything and step into the work she does today: helping people heal from shame-based teachings and build healthier relationships with their bodies and sexuality.
We talk about purity culture myths, painful sex, shame, and the conversations the church often avoids—like consent, pleasure, chronic illness, and real relationship dynamics.
If you’ve ever felt confused, disconnected, or let down by what you were taught about sex, this episode is for you.

Dear Church: Stop Promising Great Sex After Marriage
2026/01/29
The church taught us that if we waited until marriage, sex would be amazing. No shame. No regret. Just blessings.
But what happens when your body doesn’t cooperate?
In this episode, I unpack the damage of purity culture’s biggest promise — that obedience guarantees great sex — and why that theology falls apart in real bodies, real marriages, and real lives. We talk about sexual shame, chronic pain, endometriosis, and why guilt and regret aren’t natural consequences of sex — they’re learned responses.
I read directly from Loveology and challenge the authority of male pastors who confidently preach about sex outcomes they’ve never lived, all while ignoring bodies, illness, disability, and lived experience.
This isn’t an anti-sex or anti-abstinence episode. It’s a call to stop weaponizing sex, stop moralizing bodies, and stop promising sexual rewards that can’t be guaranteed.
If you grew up in purity culture, feel confused about sex and faith, or were told your body would “work” if you just obeyed — this episode is for you.
What the Rapture, a 22-Year-Old, and My Podcast Taught Me
2025/09/27
What do the rapture, a 22-year-old who swears she’s running out of time, and my inconsistent podcast schedule have in common? More than you’d think.
In this episode of The Rebel In Me, I talk about the latest rapture buzz, a conversation that made me feel like I time-traveled back to my twenties, and the reminder that at 34, I still have time—and so do you. I also share honestly about struggling with health issues, feeling silly for not being consistent, and my rebellion against the pressure to always produce and perform.
This is your permission slip to slow down, breathe, and stop hustling like the world is ending tomorrow and remember you are a baby.

Lesbihonest, I'm Still a Prophet: Same Vibe, Different Branding
2025/07/16
In this episode of The Rebel in Me, I’m diving into my experience with Christian prophecy, spiritual gifts, and the wild things people once declared over my life—like how I’d “call forth identity” and make lesbians straight (spoiler: I did not).
Now, years later and no longer in church, I’m drawing unexpected parallels between prophetic words and the woo-woo world of energy healing, intuition, and spiritual awakening. From nervous system releases that felt like Jesus to discovering new forms of connection through therapy, crystals, and “witchy” rituals—I might’ve left religion, but maybe I’m still a prophet?
Same calling. Different language.

The Courage to Leave: Bryn on Walking Away from 'Fine'
2025/07/02
What makes a woman leave a stable marriage when there’s nothing obviously wrong? In this episode, I’m joined by Bryn, who shares her raw, vulnerable story of choosing to walk away from a life that looked good on paper—but didn’t feel right in her soul.
We talk about the quiet buildup that led to her decision, the emotional unraveling that followed, and the powerful journey of reclaiming her life on her own terms. From rediscovering her identity outside of a relationship to embracing a nomadic lifestyle with her now-fiancé, Bryn opens up about who she had to become in order to feel truly alive—and deeply loved.
We also explore the idea of "life magic"—what happens when we stop controlling and start surrendering. Whether you’re in the middle of a personal awakening, questioning your relationship, or seeking courage to choose yourself, this conversation is for you.

2025/03/19
How many times can someone be born again? In this episode, I explore the different moments in my life that felt like a personal rebirth—times when everything shifted, and I saw the world (and myself) in a new light. From being an on-fire Christian after Bible school to the disorienting reverse culture shock of returning from Palestine, to getting literally beaten with tree branches in Ecuador (happy birthday to me?), and now, at 34, learning what it means to be born again outside of faith—this episode is a journey through transformation, travel, and some truly wild birthday memories.
Tune in for a mix of storytelling, humor, and reflection on faith deconstruction.

Dear Future Husband: What Marriage Means to Me Now (Without Religion)
2025/02/26
I used to believe that marriage was a sacred, God-ordained covenant—a partnership built for glorifying Him. I prayed over my "future husband" journal, asking for a godly man who would lead our home in faith. But now? My views on love, commitment, and marriage have radically shifted. In this episode, I revisit those prayers, unpack why I was so afraid of relationships, and share how I now approach marriage without religious expectations.
Whether you're deconstructing, rethinking relationships, or simply curious, this episode dives into manifesting love, overcoming fear, and creating a partnership on your own terms—without the pressure of faith.
🎧 Tune in for an honest, vulnerable, and maybe even a little humorous take on what marriage means to me now.

The Lies I Told for Approval: And Why I Couldn’t Keep Hiding
2025/01/29
For years, I prioritized approval over authenticity—seeking validation from people and God instead of living in alignment with my own values. I share two moments when I blatantly lied over something small just to maintain an image, and I open up about the painful experience and staying silent after fact. I also dive into how constantly living for others took a serious toll on my mental, emotional, and physical health—leading to a panic attack that landed me in the ER. Now, I’m learning to choose authenticity over approval, build independence, and embrace the discomfort of living truthfully. If you’ve struggled with people-pleasing, religious conditioning, or breaking free from shame, this episode is for you.

The Rebel Needs a Rest: Spotting Burnout and Coming Back Stronger
2024/12/05
In this episode, I’m getting real about burnout—what it looks like, how to spot it, and why rest is essential. Running this podcast solo has been a wild ride, but it’s also taught me that honoring my energy is non-negotiable if I want to avoid crashing and burning.

When I Tried to Convert Him: My Fiancé’s Side of the Story
2024/11/27
What happens when love and belief collide? In this playful yet heartfelt episode, my partner shares his side of the story—what it was like when I tried to convert him. We explore the challenges of our early relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend, how my hangup was being "unequally yoked", our differing life philosophies shaped us, and the lessons we’ve learned about love, faith, and finding common ground. Whether you’ve wrestled with similar dynamics in your own relationships or just love a good unconventional love story, this episode dives into the real (and sometimes messy) journey of two people learning to connect beyond their differences.

The deeper I delved, the more it stopped making sense, pushing me to embrace a new path and a new life. Tune in for an honest look at how my accidental rebellion, spiritual awakening, and search for truth ultimately changed everything.

2024/11/13
In this eye-opening episode, I share my unfiltered journey from being a "good Christian girl" to questioning the beliefs and conditioning that shaped my identity. Through candid reflections from my therapy sessions, journal entries, and realizations about deep conditioning (including a shocker about brainwashing), I peel back layers of my faith, relationships, and personal growth.
