Trust Your Instincts: Building a Brand Without Losing the Magic with Laura Liles
2026/10/07
What happens when the data tells you one thing, but your instincts tell you another?
Laura Liles is the founder of Australian fashion brands Kinga Csilla and Ciao Ciao Vacation.
After 20 years in the fashion industry and a decade building brands of her own, she’s learned that some of her best business decisions haven’t come from following the formula. They’ve come from trusting her instincts.
In this episode of Reset, Laura joins me to talk about creativity, entrepreneurship and what it really takes to build a fashion brand without losing the magic that made you want to create in the first place.
Laura shares what happened when her team leaned heavily into data and AI to design collections, only to find they fell flat with customers. We talk about balancing creativity with commercial reality, knowing when to take advice and when to trust yourself, and why the most unique thing you can bring to a business might simply be you.
We also talk about starting a business before you feel completely ready, finding community as a founder, building the right team, showing up online, and Laura’s vision for taking her brands beyond fashion and into jewellery, travel and immersive experiences.
In this episode:
Building Kinga Csilla and Ciao Ciao VacationCreativity vs data when making business decisionsWhy following conventional business advice doesn’t always workTrusting your instincts as a founderHow to start a fashion brandTurning an idea into a business and building momentumWhy community matters when you’re running a business aloneFinding inspiration outside your own industry Building a team around your strengthsShowing up on social media as a founderWhy experience and industry relationships matter before launchingLaura’s plans for jewellery, accessories and immersive brand experiencesThe future of retail, fashion and creating brands people want to experience
Whether you’re building a business, dreaming about starting something of your own or trying to hold onto your creativity while turning it into a career, this conversation is a reminder that there isn’t one formula for doing it well.

Live Panel: Motherhood x Sable Bebe | Trusting Yourself & Finding Your Own Way as a Mum
2026/09/27
Motherhood can be beautiful, messy, hard and magic all within the one day.
For this special episode of Reset, we recorded live at the first ever Sable Bebe community event, surrounded by 50 mums and a gorgeous group of babies. You might hear some of them throughout the episode as we share an honest conversation about motherhood, identity, work, wellbeing and learning to trust yourself along the way.
Joining me on the panel are Maddi, a Psychologist; Riley a Business Coach; and Caitlin a Dietitian. We’re all mums, bringing different experiences, perspectives and expertise to the conversation.
We talk about the expectations we had before becoming mums versus the reality, the advice that didn’t work for us, asking for help, navigating big emotions, finding little ways to feel like yourself again and letting go of the idea that there’s one “right” way to do motherhood.
More than anything, this conversation is a reminder that every experience is different. We can listen to the advice, learn from the experts and hear what works for other mums, while still trusting ourselves to work out what feels right for us and our families.
A note from Sable Bebe:
“At Sable Bebe, we believe in creating newborn essentials that are not just thoughtfully designed but also bring comfort, care and connection to the journey of parenthood. Our first ever event extended this mission beyond our products by creating a space for mothers to connect, hear honest conversations about real experiences and feel less alone by surrounding themselves with a supportive community.”
A huge thank you to Sable Bebe for bringing this community together and inviting Reset to be part of such a special morning.

How to Build a Personal Brand That Gets You Noticed
2026/09/18
Your personal brand isn’t a logo, colour palette or font. It’s what people say about you when you’re not in the room. And whether we’re intentional about it or not, we all have a personal brand.
Today’s podcast guest is Valeria, a personal branding expert who helps people become known for what they do best.
We talk about why being really good at what you do isn’t always enough, how to become more visible without feeling like you need to become an influencer, and why the strongest personal brands aren’t designed to appeal to everyone.
Valeria shares the idea of treating your personal brand like a magnet: the right people will be drawn to you, some people will be repelled, and that’s okay. Because staying neutral and trying to appeal to everyone can make it much harder to stand out.
We also get practical about what to actually share online, building a brand when you’re multi-passionate, using AI without losing your personality, and how to become known for something while still leaving room to evolve.
Whether you’re building a business, growing your career or simply want more of the right opportunities to find you, this episode is packed with practical ideas to help you build a personal brand that feels like you.

“Don’t Die Wondering” Building Peony & Backing Yourself
2026/09/06
I love sitting down with entrepreneurs to talk about business, branding, leadership and the future. This conversation with Becky Morton, Founder of Peony was one of those chats I could have continued for hours.
Becky took a risk and left her stable career in law to launch her own label in one of the most competitive industries in the world. Her Australian swimwear and resort brand Peony is now loved and stocked around the world.
We talk about the early days of the business, the idea of “don’t die wondering” and what gave her the confidence to back herself and begin.
Becky shares what it has taken to grow Peony into a global brand while staying true to its values, how she makes difficult decisions and what she has learned about leadership, community and building a genuinely sustainable fashion business.
We also talk about motherhood, imposter syndrome, trusting your intuition and how to know when an idea is worth pursuing.
If you’re building something of your own, considering a career change or wondering whether it’s time to back yourself, I think you’ll take so much from this conversation.

Becoming A Solo Mother By Choice: "This Isn't a Consolation Prize"
2026/08/27
Becoming a solo mother by choice is increasingly common, yet for many of us, it’s still something we haven’t encountered personally or know very much about. It’s a topic I’ve wanted to explore on Reset for a long time, so I’m delighted to be joined by Michelle Smith, founder of Ova Acupuncture, women’s health and fertility practitioner, and soon-to-be solo mother by choice.
What if finding a partner and becoming a mother didn’t have to happen in that order?
After a significant breakup at 29, Michelle began asking herself two separate questions: did she want a relationship, and did she want to become a mother? Realising that motherhood was the priority gave her the clarity to stop waiting for the traditional order of partner first, baby second, and begin creating a family on her own terms.
Michelle takes us inside the emotional and practical realities of becoming a solo mother by choice, from deciding to pursue IVF and choosing a sperm donor to preparing financially, building her village and planning for motherhood while running a business.
We discuss:
How Michelle knew solo motherhood was the right path for herWhy dating had started to feel like an interview for the role of fatherThe different options available for donor conceptionHow she chose her sperm donor and the letter that sealed her decisionThe IVF process and the approximately $30,000 she spent on her fertility journeyHow she plans to explain her child’s donor conception from an early ageThe family, friends, community and paid support forming her villagePreparing her business for maternity leave and returning to workHow becoming a mother may shape dating and relationships in the futureThe financial planning and practical conversations worth havingWhy this decision is not a consolation prize or a Plan B
Michelle speaks with so much confidence, honesty and joy about choosing motherhood. This conversation is both a practical introduction for anyone considering solo motherhood and a powerful reminder that our lives don’t have to follow one prescribed timeline.
As Michelle says, she hasn’t given up on love. She simply decided she was ready to become a mother now.

From Side Hustle to Hailey Bieber’s Handbag in 10 Months | Building Dr Diamond
2026/06/22
What does it actually take to turn a side hustle into a successful business?
In this episode of Reset, I'm joined by Layla Morris, founder of Dr Diamond, the Australian brand behind the viral jewellery cleaning pen that ended up in Hailey Bieber's handbag.
Just 10 months after launching, Dr Diamond has generated more than 7 million views on TikTok, expanded internationally, and built a loyal customer base around a product that is redefining jewellery care.
Before becoming a founder, Layla was thriving in a corporate career she genuinely loved. But the idea of building something of her own never quite went away.
In this conversation, we unpack how she knew it was time to back herself, what it really looked like to turn an idea into a product, and why building a business is often far messier than it appears from the outside.
We also talk about the unconventional marketing strategies that helped grow the brand, including showing up to Fashion Week to clean influencers' rings, proactively creating opportunities instead of waiting for them, and the story behind how Dr Diamond ended up in Hailey Bieber's handbag.
Whether you have a business idea sitting in your Notes app, are thinking about launching a product, or simply need a reminder that you don't need to have everything figured out before you begin, this episode is packed with practical lessons and plenty of inspiration.
In this episode, we cover:
How to know if you should start a business
Going from a corporate career to building a brand
Turning an idea into a physical product
Finding suppliers and manufacturers for the first time

The Psychology of Fun, Play & Why We Should Try Something We’re Terrible At
2026/05/25
From Y2K fashion and 90s nostalgia to film cameras, scrapbooking, reading, craft nights, and analogue hobbies suddenly becoming “cool” again… it feels like everyone is craving something from the past right now…
But what if this cultural shift is about more than trends?
What if people are actually searching for joy, creativity, presence, community, and permission to feel alive again?
In this week’s episode of Reset, psychologist Rebecca McWilliam joins me for a conversation about play, hobbies, joy, burnout, nervous system regulation, and why fun is far more important to our mental health than most adults realise.
We unpack why so many adults feel emotionally flat even when life looks “good on paper,” why women often turn hobbies into productivity projects, and how modern life may be disconnecting us from the parts of ourselves that once felt most alive.
In this episode, we discuss:
Why so many adults feel emotionally exhausted even when life looks good on paper The psychology of play and why hobbies support mental health Why women often turn hobbies into productivity or side hustles Why nostalgia, Y2K trends, and analogue hobbies are rising again What childhood hobbies can reveal about your personality and needs Nervous system regulation, burnout, and emotional overwhelm Why business owners and high achievers especially need hobbies outside of work How social media and optimisation culture affect joy and creativity Why so many people feel overstimulated but under-inspired Small ways to reconnect with fun, creativity, and aliveness again
If you’ve been feeling overstimulated, emotionally flat, or like life has become all responsibility and no play, this episode is your reminder that joy is not something you have to earn.
Because success means very little if you never feel fully alive while living it.

Financial Traps Women Fall Into (and how to avoid them)
2026/04/04
If you stopped working tomorrow, how long could you financially survive on your own?
Not in theory. Not in a spreadsheet somewhere. In real life.
Lately I’ve been seeing headlines about rising homelessness in Australian women over 55. At first, it feels distant. But when you dig deeper, this isn’t just about homelessness.
It’s about superannuation gaps. It’s about part-time work and motherhood. It’s about divorce. It’s about rising cost of living, rent vesting and what really happens financially when life doesn’t go to plan.
In this episode, I sit down with financial adviser Jayde Jenkins to unpack the financial blind spots women can’t afford to ignore and what we should be doing in our 20s, 30s and 40s to protect ourselves.
We talk about:
* Why homelessness in women over 55 is rising in Australia
* The long-term financial impact of career breaks and part-time work
* What divorce really means for superannuation and property
* Rent vesting and whether it protects you long term
* Reverse mortgages and accessing equity later in life
* The financial red flags women consistently overlook
* Why personal insurance matters more than most of us realise
* How to build an emergency fund even if you’re starting from zero
* The financial order of priorities if you’re earning well and want a clear roadmap
This conversation isn’t about fear. It’s about awareness.
Because the women most affected aren’t irresponsible. They’re capable, educated women who experienced illness, separation, age discrimination or simply underestimated the long-term impact of stepping out of the workforce.
If you care about financial independence, protecting your future and making sure you always have options, this episode is for you.
