Dr. Will Cole on Burnout, Grief and Why You Still Don’t Feel Well
2026/09/29
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dr. Will Cole, functional medicine practitioner, author and host of The Art of Being Well, for an honest conversation about burnout, grief, gut health and finding a way forward when doing everything right no longer feels like enough. They explore the personal experiences behind Heal Your Cells, his book with Dr. Josh Axe, and why Will believes caring for your health means making room for your emotional and spiritual life, too. Will shares how his father’s sudden death came during years of nonstop work, a book launch and a wave of public criticism following his podcast conversation with Gwyneth Paltrow. He reflects on the anxiety, digestive symptoms and disrupted sleep that followed, and the difficult realization that loving your work does not protect you from burnout. He and Kerstin discuss what it feels like to be told your labs are normal when you still don’t feel well. Will explains his approach to looking beyond routine results and shares his perspective on the connections between unresolved trauma, the nervous system and physical symptoms. They also discuss food, environmental exposures and why he believes a health plan needs to consider more than diet and exercise. The conversation then turns to the tools Will explored in his own recovery, including nourishing meals, journaling, EMDR, vagus nerve stimulation and peptides. He shares why meeting people where they are matters and why trying to change everything at once can feel overwhelming. Faith is a thread throughout, with a reminder that prayer can be foundational without replacing therapy or professional care. The episode closes with Will’s suggestions for beginning without doing everything: choosing one active and one passive form of support, spending time in nature and taking the next right step. He shares his hope for a return to real human connection, deeper faith and a life grounded in the present. For Will, moving forward means taking the next right step rather than waiting for perfect conditions. MEDICAL NOTE This episode shares personal experiences and opinions about stress, trauma, gut health, fasting, supplements, peptides and other therapies. Dan Wheeler on Losing His Wife, Finding Love Again & Life After QVC
2026/09/22
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dan Wheeler, former QVC host, author and co-founder of Fearless Faith, for an honest conversation about caregiving, losing a spouse, trusting God and finding love again. The longtime friends revisit their QVC years, including unforgettable moments with 50 Cent and Willie Nelson, before opening up about the experiences that changed Dan’s life. Dan shares how his wife Beth’s stage four cancer diagnosis shifted his priorities from work to being present with her. He reflects on three years of caregiving, the pressure of putting on a happy face on live television and the grief of watching the world keep moving after his own had stopped. He and Kerstin discuss asking for help, accepting support from friends and family, and finding comfort in prayer and Scripture. Dan recalls moments he believes were reminders that God had not forgotten him, and explains why the hardest years of his life were also some of the most meaningful years of his marriage. The conversation then turns to life after QVC, his book Hurricane of Love, the beginnings of Fearless Faith and his Finish Strong podcast. Dan shares how he reconnected with Pam, who had also lost a spouse, and how they built a marriage that makes room for both love and grief. Dan also opens up about his heart health challenges, fatigue and learning to slow down while continuing to work with his doctors. The episode closes with his commitment to choosing Scripture before his phone, sharing his faith and building a life of purpose. For Dan, finishing strong means continuing to answer God’s call in every season. MEDICAL NOTE This episode shares personal experiences with grief, caregiving, cancer, heart health and medication. Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Jennie Garth, actress, designer and author best known as Kelly Taylor on Beverly Hills, 90210, for an honest conversation about depression, divorce, motherhood and choosing yourself after 50. Jennie shares why she stopped hiding behind a happy face and started making room for a life that feels more like her. Diagnosed with depression at 18, Jennie opens up about medication, the shame she once carried and why she now speaks openly about her mental health. She and Kerstin discuss protecting sleep, setting work boundaries and quieting a racing mind. They also explore her approach to food, movement and getting back into an exercise routine after surgery. The conversation then turns to ME by Jennie Garth at QVC, her I Choose Me podcast and her book, I Choose Me: Chasing Joy, Finding Purpose & Embracing Reinvention. Jennie explains why she calls her 50s her “building decade” and reflects on the hardest part of telling her story: falling apart after divorce and piecing her life back together. Jennie also shares the emotional weight of caring for her mother, who has Alzheimer’s, and accepting that she cannot manage all of her care at home. Kerstin draws on her own caregiving experience as they discuss guilt and giving yourself grace. The episode closes with Jennie’s message about making time for yourself, pushing through self-doubt and learning to have your own back. Dr. Peter McCullough on Alzheimer’s, Cancer—and the Health Questions Dividing America
2026/09/09
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dr. Peter A. McCullough, an internist, cardiologist and epidemiologist, for a wide-ranging conversation about Alzheimer’s risk, cancer detection, obesity, COVID-19, vaccines and the daily choices he believes can protect long-term health. Kerstin begins with a clear disclaimer: several of his positions are controversial, and her goal is to help listeners hear another perspective, ask questions and speak with their own doctors. Dr. McCullough explains why Alzheimer’s is personal. His father died with the disease, his mother is currently living with it, and he is focused on protecting his own cognition. He discusses body weight, alcohol, outdoor movement, ApoE genetics, newer blood testing and the choices people may make when they better understand their risk. Kerstin and Dr. McCullough also examine inherited cancer risk, whole-body MRI, blood-based cancer testing and why standard screening such as colonoscopy still matters. The conversation then moves into his views on the pandemic, COVID-19 vaccination, routine childhood vaccination, nasal sprays, gargling and public trust in medicine. The episode closes with where he finds hope and the health practices he considers non-negotiable: food quality, portion control, aerobic and strength training, time outside, sleep and avoiding alcohol. He also explains why he encourages some patients to try 90 alcohol-free days and observe what happens to their sleep. MEDICAL NOTE This episode presents Dr. McCullough’s views for discussion, including positions that are controversial. It is not personal medical advice. Sara Happ Walked Away From Millions—and the Beauty Brand Bearing Her Name
2026/09/04
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with beauty entrepreneur Sara Happ for a raw conversation about building the lip-care company that carried her name, losing control of what that name represented, and walking away from the business she created. Sara shares how a lip scrub she mixed in her kitchen grew into a major beauty brand and led to an eight-year run on QVC. She explains why the QVC set became one of her safest places, what changed after outside investors entered the company, and why she could no longer look customers in the eye and promote products she did not control. The conversation also turns to Sara’s three-decade battle with endometriosis, her 2023 hysterectomy, and the grief of giving up the possibility of carrying another child. She describes what doctors found during surgery and why women should not dismiss severe pain simply because they have learned to function through it. Kerstin and Sara also talk about divorce, therapy, family, faith, closed doors, and learning to stop measuring personal worth by revenue, appearance, or performance. Sara shares the two questions that now guide her decisions, why peace became more valuable than a paycheck, and what it means to write a new chapter on her own terms. The Poop Queen Reveals Why Women Stay Bloated, Backed Up and Exhausted
2026/08/25
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Liz Roman—better known online as The Poop Queen—for a direct conversation about constipation, bloating, Hashimoto’s, hormones, and what to do when you feel terrible even though your labs are called “normal.” Liz opens up about being diagnosed with childhood rheumatoid arthritis, struggling with painful periods and chronic constipation, and eventually discovering Hashimoto’s, Giardia, Candida overgrowth, and broader gut dysfunction through functional testing. Her own health journey led her to leave corporate human resources and build a practice focused on helping women understand their symptoms and search for root-cause answers. Kerstin and Liz break down stool testing, parasites, Candida, elimination diets, and why Liz prefers to support digestion, bowel regularity, hydration, liver function, and nutrient status before using aggressive eradication protocols. They also discuss why adding too much fiber too quickly can make bloating worse—and why the type of fiber matters. The conversation also connects perimenopause and menopause with constipation, histamine reactions, estrogen clearance, bile flow, liver and gallbladder support, and HRT. Liz shares the lab markers she watches, the supplements she commonly discusses with clients, and why health changes should be guided by data instead of guesswork. Former QVC Host Nancy Hornback on Faith, Fear & Starting Over
2026/08/18
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with longtime friend and former QVC host Nancy Hornback for a candid conversation about faith, motherhood, career, and learning to trust God through closed doors. Nancy opens up about leaving QVC after 12 years, handling criticism, chasing purpose instead of money, and learning not to let rejection define her. She also shares why she chose to spend three months completely cut off from her family, phone, internet, news, and social media for Greg Gutfeld’s What Did I Miss? That experience forced Nancy to confront control, fear, family responsibilities, and her identity outside of being a wife, mother, and caretaker. Surprisingly, she found more peace in isolation than she expected—and more stress when it was time to return to normal life. Nancy and Kerstin also talk about parenting, faith, political division, postmenopause, and one of Nancy’s biggest lessons from the experience: seek first to understand, then to be understood. Dr. Jen Pfleghaar: The Truth About Perimenopause, Sex & Hormones
2026/08/11
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dr. Jen Pfleghaar, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, author of The Perimenopause Reset, and women’s health advocate whose work brings together faith, integrative health, and the realities of midlife. Dr. Jen explains why she believes symptoms such as anxiety, heart palpitations, difficult PMS, weight changes, and disrupted sleep can be signals that something deeper needs attention rather than issues women should simply cover up. Dr. Jen opens up about her own spiritual journey and how she became deeply involved in yoga, meditation, Reiki, crystals, and other New Age practices while working in integrative medicine. She explains why she ultimately walked away from those practices, returned to Scripture, and began rethinking where she placed her identity as a doctor, mother, and professional. The conversation turns to family, marriage, and the major changes Dr. Jen made after realizing the stress of running a brick-and-mortar medical practice was affecting her home life. She shares why she closed the practice, moved with her family to a small farm outside Nashville, shifted to virtual care, and began putting greater emphasis on her role as a wife and mother. Kerstin and Dr. Jen also explore what they describe as spiritual warfare during perimenopause. Dr. Jen explains how changing hormones can leave women experiencing anxiety, isolation, weight gain, emotional changes, and symptoms they may never have faced before. She believes those vulnerable seasons make it especially important for women to protect what they consume mentally and spiritually and stay grounded in their faith. They also get into the science and lifestyle factors that may affect how women experience perimenopause. Dr. Jen discusses progesterone decline, fluctuating estrogen, blood sugar, muscle mass, stress, genetics, liver health, alcohol, inflammation, and environmental exposures. She explains why two women can enter the same stage of life and have completely different experiences. Kerstin gets personal about giving up alcohol after her husband became sober and how her own body began reacting differently to alcohol in her forties. She and Dr. Jen talk about replacing the ritual of drinking with coffee, tea, sparkling water, date nights, and other habits while acknowledging that sometimes what people miss is not the alcohol itself but the experience surrounding it. The conversation becomes even more candid when Kerstin talks about the dramatic drop in her libido during perimenopause. Dr. Jen discusses stress, vaginal dryness, changing hormones, communication with a spouse, foreplay, testosterone, and other approaches she uses with patients. Kerstin also shares how noticeably different her libido felt while vacationing in Italy and away from the normal stress of work, kids, and home. Dr. Jen then answers Kerstin’s rapid-fire questions about hormone replacement therapy, peptides, GLP-1 medications, muscle, meat, supplements, and strength training. She explains why she supports bioidentical hormone replacement and properly supervised peptides and GLP-1s while emphasizing that she views them as tools to layer onto a strong health foundation rather than quick fixes. They close with practical habits Dr. Jen believes can make a difference in midlife. Her personal staples include magnesium, creatine, inositol, regular Bible reading, prayer, Christian music, and lifting heavy weights. Her message to women is simple: building muscle, managing stress, understanding your body, and protecting your spiritual life can all become part of navigating this season with more strength. After 20 Years at QVC, Gary Goben Is Ready for a Change
2026/08/04
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with beloved QVC personality and Denim & Company designer Gary Goben as he makes a major announcement about his future at QVC. Beginning January 1, Gary will reduce his television schedule while continuing to appear on the Tuesday morning and Sunday evening shows, along with Today’s Special Value days. As Gary approaches his 70th birthday and 20th anniversary at QVC, he explains why he is ready to slow down after years of designing, presenting trends, developing products, and spending long days on live television. He also reveals what he plans to do with his time away from the camera. Gary shares the unlikely story of how he went from working behind the scenes as a designer to becoming one of QVC’s most recognizable personalities. After Denim & Company buyer Siobhan Ryan asked him to appear on television, Gary overcame his fear and stepped in front of the camera. A later request to help sell an underperforming pair of jeans became the best presentation of the day and changed the direction of his career. Gary reflects on moving to New York with little more than a packed rental car and a determination to work in fashion. He attended the Fashion Institute of Technology at night, worked at Saks Fifth Avenue, entered the Garment District, designed clothing for QVC Germany, and eventually joined QVC in West Chester. The conversation also looks behind the scenes at the demanding pace of live television. Gary describes 18-hour Today’s Special Value days, the constant preparation required between appearances, and the energy it takes to remain informed, positive, and engaging throughout a broadcast. Gary opens up about his friendship with Carolyn Gracie and the moment she held his shaking hand during his first television appearance. He discusses their natural chemistry, his partnership with Jane Brown, and the extraordinary success of the Denim & Company Beach collection. As he enters this new season, Gary plans to return to fine art, a passion he first developed as a child. He explains why painting has become a form of rest, self-care, and meditation. He also discusses the fear involved in sharing such personal work publicly and his plans to create a website for his paintings. Gary also talks about sleep, movement, his husband of 35 years, creating a close circle of chosen family, protecting his peace, and setting boundaries. After decades of doing frightening things anyway, he believes sharing his artwork may be his next courageous step. Candace Cameron Bure Says Turning 50 Changed Her Definition of Success
2026/07/28
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with actress, producer, bestselling author, and podcast host Candace Cameron Bure for an honest conversation about turning 50, preparing for perimenopause, becoming a grandmother, facing imposter syndrome, and choosing purpose over constant achievement. Candace explains why she was nervous about turning 50 and why she now believes every decade has been better than the one before it. After years of chasing goals and building her career, she says success is no longer about money, accomplishments, or the strength of her résumé. It is about legacy, family, faith, and fulfilling the purpose God has given her. Candace shares how she became more proactive about her health as she entered perimenopause. She discusses changing her workouts, getting bloodwork, using supplements, protecting eight hours of sleep, and refusing to schedule work before she has taken care of her body. Kerstin and Candace also discuss why physical, emotional, and spiritual health cannot be separated. Candace previews her upcoming live tour with triple board-certified OB-GYN Dr. Tabatha Barber, where they will answer women’s questions about hormones, midlife health, faith, relationships, and wellness. Candace introduces her new 30-day devotional, Wild Hope, and explains why hope does not have to depend on circumstances. She also shares how singing Scripture has helped her memorize longer passages and why finding new ways to spend time with God keeps her faith from becoming routine. The conversation explores the need for authentic friendships, the courage required to ask others for prayer, and the safe community Candace is building through the Together Community. Candace also opens up about becoming a grandmother and why she sees it as a second chance to be more patient, present, and intentional than she was while raising three children in her twenties. Despite decades of success, Candace admits that she still experiences imposter syndrome and sometimes feels unqualified to be in the room. She explains why her confidence does not come from believing she is the smartest or most accomplished person there. It comes from trusting that God placed her there for a reason. Elizabeth Aylor Says Eating Less May Be Keeping Women Overweight
2026/07/21
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with functional nutrition practitioner and fitness coach Elizabeth Aylor for an honest conversation about eating disorders, chronic bloating, constipation, hormone imbalances, weight-loss resistance, and rebuilding a body damaged by years of restriction. Elizabeth opens up about going from nearly 200 pounds to just 90 while eating 500 calories a day and training seven days a week. She explains why no one could convince her that she had an eating disorder and why she had to reach her lowest point before she was ready to change. Even after returning to a healthier weight, Elizabeth continued to struggle. She lost her menstrual cycle for more than seven years and developed severe abdominal swelling, constipation, food sensitivities, anxiety, and chronic pain. She shares how testing later revealed H. pylori, SIBO, parasites, and other gut imbalances, and how mold exposure and chronic stress eventually caused many of her symptoms to return. Kerstin and Elizabeth discuss why stress can affect digestion, hormones, sleep, and metabolism. They also examine fasting, GLP-1 medications, muscle loss, restrictive diets, thyroid testing, hormone testing, food elimination, protein absorption, and why some women may begin losing weight after eating more. Elizabeth also explains why bloating and infrequent bowel movements should not be ignored, why supplements and probiotics must be chosen carefully, and why women should focus on building a healthy body before chasing a lower number on the scale. Albany Irvin Reveals Why She Left QVC With Zero Plan
2026/07/17
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist reconnects with former QVC host Albany Irvin nearly a decade after their last meeting for an honest and heartfelt conversation about stepping away from television, rebuilding life after divorce, protecting her children, and trusting God through uncertainty. Albany opens up about her decision to leave QVC at 44 without a new job, a finalized custody agreement, or a clear plan for where she would live. She shares how ovarian cancer, multiple surgeries, a shattered tibia, a frightening situation involving her daughter, and years of intense television schedules led her to question whether God was guiding her in a new direction. She also reflects on the pivotal moment that shaped her faith. After a serious car accident at age 16, Albany, her mother, and her sister were taken in by strangers for nearly a month. That act of kindness taught her to trust that God would provide, even when circumstances seemed uncertain. Kerstin and Albany also dive into topics like severe scoliosis, staying active, menopause, muscle loss, protein intake, bone broth, traveling with healthy food, becoming an empty nester, and reinventing life after 50. Albany shares why walking, Pilates, Bible study, and reshaping her inner dialogue have become essential to her well-being. Cholesterol Shock: What Women Over 40 Need To Know with Dr. Eve Henry
2026/07/07
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dr. Eve Henry — internal medicine physician, preventive health expert, integrative medicine practitioner and medical director at Function Health — for a straight conversation about cholesterol, heart disease, menopause, statins, metabolic health, GLP-1s and what women actually need to know about their labs. Dr. Henry explains why so many women see their cholesterol rise in their 40s and 50s, even if they have always thought of themselves as someone with “great cholesterol.” She breaks down how estrogen affects cholesterol, why perimenopause and menopause can change the picture quickly, and why women should not automatically blame themselves, their diet or their lifestyle when their numbers shift. The conversation covers what really matters on a cholesterol panel, including ApoB, Lp(a), triglycerides, insulin, glucose, A1C and blood pressure. Dr. Henry explains why particle number may matter more than particle size, why ApoB can be one of the most useful markers, and why every woman should know her Lp(a). She also explains genetic risk, polygenic risk scores and when imaging like a coronary calcium scan or CT angiogram may help guide decisions. Kerstin and Dr. Henry also get into the statin debate, including why doctors prescribe them, what side effects can happen, and what other options exist, including Zetia and PCSK9 inhibitors. Dr. Henry shares her own experience with high ApoB and cholesterol medication, why HRT usually does not fix cholesterol, and how thyroid, weight gain, metabolic health, insulin resistance, supplements and GLP-1 medications fit into the bigger heart-health picture. Harry Slatkin Reveals The Family Fight Behind His Fragrance Empire
2026/06/30
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Harry Slatkin — known as the king of home fragrance, co-founder of Slatkin & Co, QVC favorite, business builder and co-founder of Next for Autism — for a heartfelt conversation about fragrance, family, severe autism, stress, faith, health and turning deep pain into purpose. Harry shares how he started his first business at 15, went from finance to fragrance, and helped change the home fragrance industry by bringing candles out of the home department and into the beauty world. He opens up about working with iconic names like Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Elton John, Princess Diana, Tory Burch, Christian Dior, Bath & Body Works and more, while explaining why scent is not just a product but an emotional and physical experience tied to the brain. Then the conversation turns personal. Harry talks about his son David’s severe autism diagnosis, the early years of biting, clawing, screaming, medical uncertainty and family stress, and how he and his wife Laura decided they could either sit in their sorrow or get to work. That work eventually helped lead to major autism advocacy efforts, including Next for Autism, Autism Speaks, schools, adult programs, workplace programs and support for families living with autism. Harry also shares how his family handled Laura’s breast cancer, what faith looks like for him, why every family is carrying something, and how honesty helps him manage stress. He explains why he and Laura have watched The Golden Girls almost every night for decades, how he learned to shut his brain off, why sleep matters, and why phones, food, blood work, magnesium, vitamin D and small health changes are all part of the bigger conversation. Pastor Jonathan Miller Reveals the Church Hurt That Shattered His Family
2026/06/23
This is StRest! Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Pastor Jonathan Miller — author of Healing Hurts, pastor’s kid, ministry leader and longtime pastor — for a powerful conversation about church hurt, family trauma, forgiveness, leadership, emotional healing and how God can turn deep pain into purpose. Jonathan shares the story of how his life fell apart at age 12 after his father confessed to multiple adulterous relationships inside the church. He opens up about watching people he loved walk out of his life, the pain his family endured, his father’s prison sentence, his mother’s decision to stay, and the 18-year crisis that eventually became a testimony of restoration. Then the conversation turns practical: how church hurt can go both ways, why pastors and their families need grace, how transparency leads to transformation, how pain can become fuel instead of a prison, why crying and emotional honesty matter, and how physical, emotional and spiritual health all work together in healing. Jonathan also explains why pain does not have to control your decisions, why generational wounds can be broken, why leaving a church should be done with honor, and why his non-negotiable morning prayer rhythm keeps him grounded.
