How Kate Swoboda Transformed Fear into a Life Coaching Career | Ep 95
2026/10/21
What if the fear of leaving a secure job is a sign that you're ready for something more meaningful? How can you move through fear instead of letting it dictate your next move? What could change if you stopped trying to be fearless and learned to fear less?
In this episode, I sit down with Kate Swoboda to explore how we can move through fear and build the courage to pursue more meaningful work. We discuss Kate's decision to leave a secure salaried job and gradually build her life coaching business, despite the uncertainty and self-doubt that came with making such a significant career change.
Kate shares how fear can push us to our limits, but also become a catalyst for transformation when we learn to work with it rather than avoid it. We explore the idea that fear is a feeling, not a command, and that while we may never become entirely fearless, we can learn to "fear less" and stop allowing fear to dictate our decisions. Ultimately, we discuss how meaningful change happens when we take the next best step, even when we don't feel ready.

A chat with Becky Mollenkamp: Why Trying to Do No Harm Could Be Holding You Back in Business
2026/10/07
Could trying to do no harm be keeping you from moving forward? What would change if you stopped asking what you should want and asked what you truly want? What if the life that feels wrong isn't the problem: you're just wearing the wrong mask?
In this episode, I sit down with Becky Mollenkamp to explore what happens when we let go of the impossible expectation of doing everything perfectly. We talk about how the pursuit of "no harm" can become a reason to stay stuck, and how accepting that we will make mistakes allows us to learn, grow, and keep moving.
We also talk about something many women struggle with: knowing exactly what everyone else needs from us while having no idea what we actually want for ourselves. Becky shares how reaching a personal rock bottom at 37 forced her to ask a question she had never really considered: "What do I want?"

Navigating Fear: Angie Miller's Journey to Self-Discovery
2026/09/16
Is bravery about being willing to feel uncomfortable rather than being fearless? Are you outsourcing your confidence, or learning to trust yourself? What could change if you learned to live with your nervous system instead of against it?
In this episode, I talk with Angie Miller about fear, bravery, and what it means to truly trust yourself. We explore how bravery isn't about being fearless, but about being willing to step into discomfort and discover what you're capable of. Angie shares how experiences from childhood shaped her willingness to embrace the unknown, from travelling internationally at a young age to navigating college as a first-generation student.
We also unpack what happens when we outsource our confidence and allow other people's expectations to shape how we see ourselves. Angie shares how strength training transformed her relationship with exercise, confidence, and her own body, ultimately helping her build a deeper sense of self-trust.

From Perfectionism to Authenticity a Conversation with Amy Green Smith
2026/09/09
What would change in your life if you stopped trying to meet everyone else's expectations and finally chose yourself? Could speaking up be the first step toward true authenticity? How much of who you are today is genuinely you, or a collection of old coping mechanisms?
In this episode, I sit down with Amy Green Smith to talk about moving away from perfectionism and people pleasing and learning to live more authentically. Amy shares how her experience with religious trauma and her relationship with her mother led her to realize that she could not continue living according to other people's expectations. She explains how choosing herself became an important turning point in her life and eventually shaped the work she does today.
We talk about the importance of speaking up for yourself and being willing to have difficult conversations when something is not working in a relationship. Amy also introduces her EIC framework, which looks at the experiences we have, the meaning we give those experiences, and the coping strategies we develop as a result. We explore how these patterns can follow us into adulthood and affect the way we communicate, set boundaries, and show up in our relationships. Ultimately, this conversation is about understanding the protective habits we have developed and finding the confidence to let more of our genuine selves come through.

Why Traditional Measures of Success Fail Our Childrenof Success Fail Our Children with Julie Lythcott-Haims
2026/09/02
Are we measuring our children's success the wrong way? What if your child needs something different from what you expected? How does respect change the way we successfully communicate with our adult children?
In this episode, I talk with Julie Lythcott Haims about what it really means for our children to become successful adults and how easily we can confuse success with independence, status, or meeting society's expectations.
Julie shares how becoming a parent of an adult child challenged her ideas about independence. When her son came home during the COVID 19 pandemic and stayed, she initially saw it as a failure. Over time, she came to understand that being an adult is not about where you live or what you achieve, but about how you live and take responsibility for yourself.
We also explore how parents can become so focused on their children's potential that they overlook what their children actually need. Finally, we discuss how respect, honest communication, appropriate expectations, and allowing our adult children to develop their own skills can create stronger relationships.

Coming Home to Yourself: Your Voice Isn't Missing
2026/08/26
Has being silent ever felt safer than speaking your truth? What is the cost your body and mind bear of being "the easy one"? How can you tell the difference between silence and peace?
In this episode, I explore what happens when staying silent feels safer than speaking my truth. I discuss the difference between silence and genuine peace, the hidden cost of becoming "the easy one," and how years of suppressing our needs and emotions can affect both the mind and body.
I also look at how our early experiences can teach us to prioritize other people's feelings over our own, making it difficult to know what we actually want as adults. Finally, I explore the mind-body connection and why healing requires more than changing our thoughts—it means helping our nervous system learn that it is safe to disagree, speak honestly, set boundaries, and say no.

Dancing Through Life's Anxious Moments with Danielle Ireland
2026/08/05
Could the way through anxiety be to move with it rather than to avoid it? Could your inner narrative be holding you back more than the situation itself? What if taking one imperfect step was all it took to begin?
In this episode, I sit down with Danielle Ireland to explore what it really means to move through anxiety instead of avoiding it. We talk about how movement—especially dance and other somatic practices—can help us process difficult emotions, why perfectionism and procrastination often keep us stuck, and how taking one imperfect step can create lasting momentum. Talking Fear and Men with Jon Waller
2026/07/29
Could being fired become your biggest breakthrough? Are you measuring your worth by your achievements? How do you help men move from fear to action?
In this episode, I sit down with Jon Waller to explore how fear influences the way men see themselves and the choices they make. Jon shares the story of being fired from a job after speaking his mind—a moment that felt devastating at the time but ultimately gave him the freedom to pursue work that aligned with his values. We discuss how fear can keep us living someone else's narrative and why asking whose story we're following is often the first step toward meaningful change.
We also dive into the way many men tie their self-worth to achievement. Jon explains why failure isn't proof of inadequacy but an opportunity to learn, grow, and adjust course. I share why I believe failure and learning are inseparable, and we discuss the importance of helping clients not only understand that truth intellectually but also experience it emotionally so they can let go of limiting beliefs.
Finally, we talk about what helps men engage in therapy. Jon explains that many male clients benefit from practical, action-oriented strategies alongside emotional work. We explore how therapists can combine concrete tools with deeper self-reflection, helping men move from fear to action, build confidence, and create lasting change.

Coming Home to Yourself: The Good Girl Trap
2026/07/22
Have you ever confused people-pleasing with genuine kindness? What beliefs about being "good" are you still carrying today? How might your life change if your needs mattered just as much as everyone else's?
In this episode, I explore "The Good Girl Trap" and the invisible belief that being helpful, dependable, and self-sacrificing is the price of love and belonging. I explain how these learned patterns often lead to people-pleasing and self-silencing, causing us to ignore our own needs in order to keep the peace.
I discuss why healthy love must include self-respect, self-compassion, and boundaries, and encourage listeners to redefine what it means to be "good." I close with a reflection exercise to help identify old beliefs, celebrate moments of self-honoring, and begin building healthier, more balanced relationships with themselves and others.

Coming Home to Yourself: The Invisible Woman
2026/07/15
In this episode, I explore the idea of "the invisible woman" and why so many women reach a point where they feel exhausted, disconnected, and unsure of who they are. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with me?" I encourage a more compassionate question: "What happened to me?" This shift replaces shame with understanding and helps uncover the deeper reasons behind burnout and feeling invisible.
I explain that losing ourselves rarely happens because of one dramatic event. Instead, it is usually a gradual process of putting everyone else's needs first, taking on multiple roles, and slowly forgetting the person beneath them all. Over time, we can build a life that appears successful on the outside while feeling unfamiliar on the inside.
I also discuss why so many intelligent, caring, and loving women lose touch with themselves, emphasizing that understanding our story is the first step toward healing. By asking, "What happened that made this response make sense?" we create space for self-compassion instead of self-judgment.
However, understanding alone is not enough. It is the first step across the bridge back to ourselves, but real transformation begins when we choose to respond differently. Healing is built through small, everyday moments of practicing compassion toward ourselves.
I close by encouraging listeners to treat themselves with the same kindness they so freely offer the people they love, because healing begins when we become gentler with ourselves.
