Psalm 92 "Still Bearing Fruit" (Monday 10/5/26)
2026/10/04
Psalm 92 reminds us that while the wicked may spring up quickly like grass, the righteous flourish with the strength and endurance of palm trees and cedars. Those who are planted in the presence of God can continue to grow, flourish, and bear fruit even into old age. A faithful life ultimately becomes a testimony to the faithfulness of God: “The LORD is upright; he is my rock.”
Revelation 22:1-5, 17 "The River of Life" (Friday 10/2/26)
2026/10/02
Revelation 22 brings the story of Scripture full circle as the river and tree of life from Eden appear again in God’s restored creation. The curse of Genesis is finally overturned: death and darkness are gone, God dwells with his people, and they see his face. The Bible ends with one final invitation of grace: “Let the one who is thirsty come” and freely drink from the water of life.
Jeremiah 2:11-13 "Broken Cisterns" (Thursday 10/1/26)
2026/10/01
Jeremiah 2:11–13 pictures the tragedy of God’s people abandoning the Lord, “the fountain of living waters,” for broken cisterns that cannot hold water. Instead of receiving the life only God could provide, they chased after idols and substitutes that could never satisfy their deepest needs. The passage challenges us to ask where we are looking for life and reminds us that only God can satisfy the thirst of the human soul.
John 7:37-39 "Water that gives life" (Wednesday 9/30/26)
2026/09/29
At the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus invites all who are thirsty to come to him and drink, declaring himself the source of the life only God can give. The living water Jesus promises is the Holy Spirit, who fills believers with the presence and power of God. Jesus not only satisfies our deepest thirst—his life flows through us so that we can bring his grace, love, and hope to others.
John 4 "Living Water" (Tuesday 9/29/26)
2026/09/29
Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well and offers her something far greater than the water she came to draw—the living water of eternal life. In this conversation, Jesus reveals that he knows her completely, yet still invites her into the new life God is bringing through him. Her encounter with Jesus transforms her from someone searching for water into a witness inviting an entire town to “come and see.”
Psalm 91 "Under the Shadow of the Almighty" (Monday 9/28/26)
2026/09/27
Psalm 91 is a powerful declaration of confidence in God when life feels dangerous, uncertain, or beyond our control. It does not promise a life without trouble, but something even deeper—the presence of God in the midst of it. When we make the Lord our dwelling place, we discover that our ultimate security is not found in avoiding every danger, but in knowing that we never face it alone.
Ezekiel 36:25-27 "A New Heart and a New Spirit" (Thursday 9/24/26)
2026/09/23
In Ezekiel 36:25–27, God promises to cleanse His people from their sins, give them a new heart, and place His Spirit within them. This beautiful promise reveals that true transformation begins with God, who replaces our hearts of stone with hearts that are responsive to His will. Through His Spirit, God empowers us to walk in His ways and live as His faithful people.
Titus 3:3-7 "You have been changed in Christ!" (Wednesday 9/23/26)
2026/09/22
Titus 3:3–7 reminds us that we were once lost in sin, but God saved us through his goodness and mercy, not because of our own righteousness. Through Jesus Christ and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit, we have been given new life, justified by grace, and made heirs of eternal life. Because we have received such extraordinary mercy, we are called to live transformed lives and extend that same kindness and compassion to others.
John 3:1-21 "Born of Above" (Tuesday 9/22/26)
2026/09/21
In his nighttime conversation with Nicodemus, Jesus reveals that entering the kingdom of God requires being born again of water and the Spirit. Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, Jesus would be lifted up on the cross so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. John 3:1–21 reminds us that God's love offers us new life through Jesus Christ and calls us to leave the darkness behind and walk in his light.
Psalm 90 "Teach Us to Number Our Days" (Monday 9/21/26)
2026/09/21
Psalm 90 reminds us that while our lives are brief, God is eternal and remains our dwelling place through every generation. Moses teaches us to number our days, living with wisdom and finding true satisfaction in God's steadfast love. When we devote our lives to God's purposes, we can trust him to establish the work of our hands and give lasting significance to our fleeting days.
Psalm 107:23-32 "When the Storm Becomes Still" (Friday 9/18/26)
2026/09/17
Psalm 107:23–32 pictures sailors caught in a terrifying storm, helpless before forces far beyond their control. When they cry out to the Lord, he stills the storm, calms the waves, and brings them safely to their destination. The passage reminds us that when life feels out of control, we can cry out to the One who rules the wind and waves and faithfully leads us home.
Jeremiah 16:14-16 "The God Who Gathers" (Thursday 9/17/26)
2026/09/16
Jeremiah 16:14–16 looks beyond Judah’s coming exile to a day when God will act again with the saving power of a new Exodus. Though judgment is coming, God promises that exile will not be the end of the story, and he uses the striking image of fishermen sent to gather people. This passage reminds us that God is a gathering God who brings restoration and calls people to participate in his work.
Isaiah 6:1-8 "Here I Am, Send Me" (Wednesday 9/16/26)
2026/09/15
Isaiah’s vision of God’s holiness leaves him overwhelmed by his own sinfulness, crying, “Woe is me!” But God does not leave Isaiah in his guilt; He cleanses him, forgives him, and prepares him for a greater purpose. When we encounter God’s holiness and experience His grace, our response should be Isaiah’s: “Here I am! Send me.”
Luke 5:1-11 "At Your Word" (Tuesday 9/15/26)
2026/09/14
In Luke 5:1–11, an ordinary morning on the lake becomes a life-changing encounter when Peter discovers the authority and holiness of Jesus. Peter learns that encountering Jesus means trusting his word, seeing ourselves clearly, and answering his call. The fisherman who says, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man,” discovers that Jesus does not push sinners away but calls them to follow him and join his mission.
Psalm 89 "When God’s Promises Seem Broken" (Monday 9/14/26)
2026/09/14
Psalm 89 celebrates God’s steadfast love and faithfulness while wrestling honestly with circumstances that seem to contradict his promises. Even when David’s throne appears shattered, the psalmist holds on to the character and covenant of the God who cannot be unfaithful. Psalm 89 reminds us that when we cannot understand what God is doing, we can still trust who God is.
