Is Canada immigration about to change? Because our leaders just showed us where they stand and tonight on The Political Orphans, I break down what Canada's immigration future could look like if our political leaders get their way. Mark Carney told The New York Times it's time to resume "some controlled increase in the population," adding "that will happen." By law, the Liberals must table the annual Immigration Levels Plan on or before November 1, so we won't have to wait long to see the numbers. Doug Ford called the idea of sending temporary workers home "the craziest thing I have ever heard" and said "we need people." So I look at what happened to Ontario's population during his eight years as premier: from 14.3 million to 16.3 million, with about 98% of the net growth coming from immigration. Then there's Pierre Poilievre, who says it doesn't matter whether your name is Smith or Singh, Poilievre or Patel. I also look at Carney's push for EU "associate member" status, the Leger poll showing 70% support for a status nobody has defined yet, and the talks about letting Canadians live and work in Europe visa-free. What would that mean in the other direction? Since 2000, Canada's population has grown 36%, from 30.7 million to 41.8 million. Is anyone in Ottawa putting Canadians first? On September 23, 2026, Durham Regional Police arrested and charged a 57-year-old Whitby man, Sean Farro, with Offence Motivated by Hatred – Uttering Threats and Incite Hatred in Public Place over a post on his Facebook page. Police haven't said exactly what he posted, but CTV and CP24 report it was an image advertising a "hunting permit" against Muslims in North America, captioned "I suggest everyone register now." So did that post meet the legal threshold? How does a Facebook profile become a "public place" under the Criminal Code? And with Bill C-9 now law, how many more Canadians will get a knock at the door over something they said online?
