It's Not an Ending, Just a New Beginning
2026/08/21
In this episode, we’re closing out a really special chapter: the final episode of Away We Go We Go. After 60+ episodes, three transformative years in France, and a move back to the U.S., we reflect on what this adventure gave our family and why starting our next chapter in San Diego feels like the right time to say goodbye to the podcast. More than anything, France taught us to slow down, appreciate the simple things, do hard things, and recognize that it’s okay for dreams and priorities to change. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came along for the ride, shared their stories, and became part of this community. This isn’t the end. It’s just new beginnings, and we can’t wait to see what comes next. Don’t forget to subscribe, rate, and review if you’re enjoying the show, and thank you for being a part of our journey. The Long Journey Back Home
2026/07/09
In this episode, we’re finally catching you up on the whirlwind journey that brought our family from Provence to Southern California. We share everything from packing up our entire lives during France’s worst heat wave in 70 years, to the chaos of traveling internationally with nearly four-year-old twins and 16 pieces of luggage, to making one last unforgettable stop in London before officially starting this next chapter. It was exhausting, emotional, and at times completely ridiculous, but it’s a journey we know we’ll never forget. We also reflect on what it felt like to leave behind the country that shaped us so deeply over the last three years. France challenged us in every possible way, but it also gave us lifelong friendships, incredible memories, a stronger family, and the confidence that comes from doing hard things. As bittersweet as it was to say goodbye, arriving in California felt surprisingly aligned. We talk about why this move feels right for our family, our work, and this new season of life, while celebrating everything our time abroad gave us. Finally, we share what's next for Away We Go We Go. While our address has changed, our mission hasn't. This podcast has always been about choosing adventure, embracing growth, and building a life with intention, no matter where in the world you are. We're excited to bring you along as we explore this next chapter, share what we've learned from living abroad, and continue proving that life really is what you make it. Our Biggest Secrets For Achieving Anything You Want in This Life, Revealed
2026/06/12
In this solo episode, I’m sharing what it has really taken—mentally, emotionally, and practically—to make some of the biggest decisions of our lives. As our family prepares to leave France and move back to California after just three years abroad, I reflect on the mindset shifts, resilience, and unwavering self-belief that have helped us navigate uncertainty, reinvention, entrepreneurship, and major life transitions. From selling our car in France to packing up our entire life once again, I share the behind-the-scenes realities of change and why I believe the hardest part is never the logistics—it’s becoming the person who trusts themselves enough to take the leap. I also dive into the core beliefs and practices that have shaped how Jordan and I approach life: deciding before the path is visible, living as if your goals have already happened, releasing the need to control the “how” and “when,” and building the discipline to keep moving forward even when things feel messy or uncertain. Whether you’re dreaming of a big move, starting a business, changing careers, or simply trying to create a life that feels more aligned, this episode is a reminder that progress comes from belief, consistency, and courage—not perfection. Most importantly, I hope this conversation encourages you to trust yourself more deeply. Every meaningful transformation begins with a decision, and every dream becomes possible when you stop waiting for certainty and start taking the next step. If you’ve been looking for a sign to believe in yourself and move toward the life you want, this episode is for you. One Month Left In France: Life Updates and Answering Your Burning Questions!
2026/05/28
In this episode of the Away We Go podcast, we're back with an update on the big move! It's been a few weeks since we officially announced that we're trading our French life for sunny San Diego, and a lot has happened since then. With just one month left on the ground here, we're sharing where things stand, what the countdown has actually looked like, and the mix of emotions that comes with closing this chapter. We also reflect on the bigger "why" behind it all. Three years ago, we packed up our lives and moved to France with our ten-month-old twins because we believed we could do hard things. Now we're doing another hard thing: heading back to the US as Sophie launches her new tech company, Elstori,  supporting women through postpartum and early motherhood. (Spoiler: doing scary things never really stops, you just get better at it.) Plus, we take you along on our final French adventure, a trip to the French Riviera that turned out to be the perfect send-off.  And of course, we're answering YOUR questions! We pulled a bunch from Instagram and got into everything you've been asking about the move, life abroad, and what's next. From Fiji to Mexico to Provence: Adventures in Retirement with Carl and Cheryl
2026/05/14
In this episode of Away We Go We Go, we sit down with our dear friends Carl and Cheryl to talk about the adventurous, unconventional life they’ve built together—from retiring early in Arizona to living in Mexico, traveling through New Zealand and Italy, almost building an off-grid home in Fiji, and ultimately landing here in Provence. What started as a shared love of scuba diving and travel slowly evolved into a much bigger philosophy about life, risk, and choosing experiences over comfort. Their story is full of incredible moments, unexpected detours, and a reminder that there’s no single “right” way to live. We talk about everything from culture shock and language barriers to the emotional reality of starting over in new countries later in life. Carl and Cheryl open up about the moments that truly tested them, including the devastating cyclone that destroyed their Fiji plans just weeks before they were supposed to make the move. Through all of it, they share how they’ve learned to adapt, trust themselves, support each other, and stay open to whatever life throws their way. This conversation is funny, heartfelt, and deeply inspiring. At its core, it’s about building a rich life—not through possessions or predictability, but through curiosity, resilience, connection, and the courage to keep saying yes to adventure. Whether you’re dreaming about moving abroad, navigating a major life transition, or simply wondering what’s possible for your future, this episode is a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to choose a different path. Our Biggest Update Yet!!!
2026/04/30
In this episode of Away We Go We Go, we’re sharing our biggest update yet—and it’s a big one. We officially launched Sophie’s new tech company, built to support women through postpartum and early motherhood, and we’re also preparing for another major life shift: moving from Aix-en-Provence to San Diego this summer. We walk through how quickly this decision came together, why now felt like the right time, and what it’s been like building something so meaningful behind the scenes while navigating life abroad with two young kids. We also open up about the deeply personal journey that led to this moment. Sophie shares her experience with a difficult postpartum period following Luca’s birth, the emotional toll it took, and how that season ultimately sparked the vision for her company. From hitting a breaking point to slowly rebuilding and finding clarity, this chapter of our lives has shaped not only who we are, but what we feel called to create and contribute moving forward. This episode is equal parts exciting and bittersweet. While we’re energized by what’s ahead—building a company, returning to the U.S., and stepping into a new chapter—we’re also reflecting on everything France has given us over the past few years. The memories, the growth, the challenges, and the beauty of this experience will always be part of us. As always, we’re leaning into the idea that you are the architect of your own life—and sometimes that means choosing a new adventure, even when it’s hard. Why The Challenge Is Always The Way
2026/04/16
In this episode, we share a real-life snapshot of our current season—raising toddlers in France, navigating a recent car accident, and dealing with the ripple effects of unexpected challenges. What starts as a light, relatable conversation about disrupted plans and everyday chaos quickly opens up into a deeper look at what it actually feels like to build a life abroad. Between language barriers, visa delays, and moments of pure frustration, we reflect on how even small obstacles can feel magnified when you’re far from home—but also how meaningful this experience has been for our family. At the heart of this episode is something we’ve been talking about a lot lately: learning to reframe discomfort. Over the past three years, we’ve been stretched in ways we never expected, and we’ve realized that confidence doesn’t come before the hard things—it comes because of them. Through navigating unfamiliar systems, rebuilding community, and figuring things out as we go, we’ve developed a level of resilience and capability that only comes from being in the thick of it. These challenges haven’t just tested us—they’ve changed us in the best way. If there’s one thing we hope you take away, it’s this: discomfort doesn’t mean something is wrong—it often means you’re growing. Whether you’re facing a big life transition or just in a tough season, we’ve learned that leaning into those moments is where the real transformation happens. For us, every challenge we’ve faced here has shaped who we are becoming, and we truly believe that what feels hard right now might be preparing you for something even greater on the other side. Insider Secrets for a Perfect Spring Day in Provence
2026/04/02
In this episode, we walk through what a perfect spring day in the South of France looks like from our perspective—and honestly, it’s our favorite time of year to be here. After a long, unpredictable winter, everything just comes alive: longer days, blooming trees, vibrant markets, and that unmistakable energy in the air. We share why April and May are truly peak season and how we’d plan an ideal day depending on the kind of experience you’re after—whether that’s slow countryside exploring, a lively market and shopping day, or soaking in the coastline. We break it down into three different day scenarios. First, a dreamy countryside day through the Luberon—starting with a sunrise drive, wandering through markets in Gordes, enjoying a relaxed, incredible lunch, and ending with wine and dinner surrounded by vineyards. Then we shift into a more high-energy, market-filled day around Aix-en-Provence, packed with antiques, food markets, shopping, and even tulip fields. Finally, we share a coastal day that blends relaxing by the water in Cassis with the option to level it up into a sunset dinner overlooking the Mediterranean in Èze. At the core of it all, we’re really highlighting how special this region is—you can experience nature, food, culture, shopping, and the sea all within a short drive. No matter which direction you go, you’re going to find something beautiful, and spring is when it all feels the most alive. Before You Move Abroad, Ask Yourself This
2026/03/25
In this solo episode of Away We Go We Go, Jordan reflects on a question that comes up all the time when people dream about moving abroad: are you actually building something new, or are you just trying to escape your current life? Drawing from his own experiences living in Argentina in his twenties and now raising a family in France, he unpacks the reality that a big move can absolutely change your life—but not always in the ways you expect. From routines and mindset to loneliness, language barriers, and daily habits, this episode is a grounded look at what really shifts when you change countries and what simply comes with you. At its core, this episode is a reminder that moving abroad is not a magic fix—it is a magnifier. If you are already open, curious, and intentional, a move can expand your life in beautiful ways. But if you are hoping geography alone will change everything, this episode offers a gentle reality check. Whether you are actively planning an international move or simply craving a different version of your life, this is a thoughtful conversation about change, courage, and being honest with yourself before you leap. Amor Fati: Learning to love your life fully, even when it's unplanned
2026/03/18
I’ve been thinking a lot about how the moments we wish hadn’t happened are often the exact ones that shape everything that comes next. Missed opportunities, hard seasons, unexpected pivots—they’re not detours, they are the path. Living in France, raising twins, building this life—it didn’t unfold the way I planned, and honestly, that’s the point. The hardest year brought me to my knees, but it also built resilience, perspective, and a deeper appreciation for the life we’ve created. When I look around now—the spring markets, the slow mornings, the joy in simple things—I can trace it all back to the messy, uncertain parts I once questioned.  That’s where amor fati lands for me: not just accepting your past, but loving it. Every setback, every uncomfortable leap, every moment you thought you got it wrong—it’s all been working for you. There is no perfect path, just the next step in a story already unfolding. And when you stop trying to rewrite what’s behind you, you unlock the energy to build what’s ahead. So instead of asking “why did this happen?”, I’m asking “what did this make possible?” Because the life I love today exists because things didn’t go to plan—and that changes everything. From Solo Travel to 600,000 women: Amanda Black on Confidence, Community and Courage
2026/03/11
In this episode of Away We Go We Go, we sit down with Amanda, the founder of the Solo Female Traveler Network, a global community of more than 600,000 women who are redefining what it means to travel—and live—independently. Amanda shares the powerful story behind how the network began, starting with her own years of solo travel and a difficult experience that inspired her to create a space where women could support, inspire, and look out for each other while exploring the world. What began as a simple Facebook group has grown into a massive community that empowers women to say yes to adventure and step outside their comfort zones.  We also dive into Amanda’s TEDx talk and the concept of “shared firsts”—the idea that doing something new alongside others can create deep, meaningful connections almost instantly. From traveling to new places to trying new experiences at home, Amanda explains how these shared moments build trust, strengthen friendships, and help women feel more confident taking risks. It’s a fascinating conversation about the psychology of connection and why stepping into the unknown with others can be so transformative. This episode is a reminder that adventure doesn’t always require a plane ticket—it starts with the courage to try something new. Whether you’re dreaming about solo travel, looking to build deeper friendships, or simply hoping to push past your comfort zone, Amanda’s story offers both inspiration and practical insight into how powerful community, curiosity, and shared experiences can truly be. What If You Are Just Living in the Wrong Place?
2026/02/26
In this episode, we reflect on how the places we’ve lived have shaped who we are—from the heaviness we felt in our hometowns to the magnetic pull of cities like Florence, Buenos Aires, and Austin. We also share what it’s been like raising our kids in France, including navigating the country’s unique school schedule , and how our move abroad forced us to slow down, heal, and process everything from trauma to identity shifts. Looking back, we can clearly see how certain places broke us open, helped us grow, or brought us back to ourselves. The heart of this conversation is astrocartography—mapping our birth charts onto the globe to see how different locations activate different parts of us . When we looked at our own maps, we were blown away to find that the cities that changed us most aligned almost exactly with powerful planetary lines. We break down what those lines mean and share how you can explore your own map, whether you’re considering a move or simply curious why some places feel expansive while others feel misaligned. For us, it’s been a powerful reminder that sometimes we travel not just to see the world—but to meet new versions of ourselves. From Australia to Provence: Building a Dream (and a Business) in France with Susannah & Hugh Cameron
2026/02/18
What does it really take to move to France- and stay? In this episode, I’m sitting down with Susannah and Hugh Cameron, the founders of Chez Pluie (a beautifully curated French antiques boutique) and creators of Provence Export, a shipping app that helps shoppers get antiques home safely from anywhere in France. They share the real story behind their move from Australia to Provence, including the unforgettable moment they bought their village house in just four days (yes, really), what it was like arriving with no fixed plan, and how they built a business from a garage logistics setup into a full-scale operation with a growing French team. We talk about the romantic side of Provence and the realities: French bureaucracy, hiring, taxes, finding the right accountant, and how embracing the French system became a turning point. Plus, Susannah and Hugh share behind-the-scenes stories from shipping priceless antiques around the world, including a truly wild one involving Julia Child’s stove! If you’re dreaming about a big move, building a business abroad, or just love Provence, antiques, and reinvention, this one’s for you. Celebrating 1 Year of AWGWG!
2026/02/11
In this special one-year anniversary episode of Away We Go We Go, we’re taking a moment to reflect on everything this past year has held—both on the podcast and in our life in France. What started as a way to answer questions and document our move abroad has grown into a global community we never could have imagined. From raising our twins in Provence and building family rituals at local markets, to traveling across Europe and back to California, this year has been full of adventure, perspective, and growth. We share some of our biggest “roses” from the year—travel highlights, watching our kids thrive, deepening friendships, and the unexpected joy of creating a home and rhythm here. Of course, we also talk honestly about the “thorns.” The realities of bureaucracy, visa delays, school logistics, traffic, and the emotional toll of navigating life in a foreign country are very real. Moving abroad isn’t just lavender fields and long lunches—it’s paperwork, hard decisions, and plenty of “what the heck are we doing?” moments. We open up about the challenges we’ve faced behind the scenes and what those experiences have taught us about resilience, perspective, and knowing your “why.” Most of all, this episode is about gratitude. We reflect on how this podcast has connected us with incredible guests and listeners around the world, and how much this community has meant to us. Thank you for being part of this journey—through the laughs, the mishaps, the big wins, and the messy middle. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings. When Your Heart Lives In Two Places
2026/02/04
When Jordan heads back to the U.S. for a work conference, Sophie is left holding down the fort in France—and almost immediately, the week spirals into total chaos. A planned support system falls through, illness hits the house, the logistics of solo parenting pile up, and even Jordan’s return home turns into a multi-day travel nightmare. What starts as a string of unfortunate (and eventually laughable) events opens the door to a much deeper conversation. As Sophie navigates life on the ground in France and Jordan slips back into the rhythms, comforts, and contradictions of being in the U.S., they’re both confronted with a familiar but rarely discussed truth of living abroad: your heart doesn’t neatly relocate when you move countries. In this episode, they talk candidly about what it means to miss home while loving the life you’ve built somewhere else, the emotional whiplash of moving between cultures, and the quiet reality that your heart can belong to two places at once. If you’ve ever moved far from home, lived abroad, or wondered whether missing one place means you chose the wrong one, this conversation is for you.
