In this special edition Ocean Currents, author Pat Carley announces his new children's book inspired by the extraordinary story of the Fisker Owners Association community. Sign up here to get the latest news on the book's release and where to order it from: https://pat-carley.author-pages.com/ Pat explains how the Fisker experience went from the excitement of owning a new EV, through the uncertainty following Fisker's collapse, to something completely unexpected: a community of people teaching, helping, fixing, and supporting one another. His book takes that experience and turns it into a story for children and adults about cooperation, discovering other people's strengths, resilience, and the power of community. The story ultimately asks an important question: Was the magic really in the car, or was it in the people who came together around it? Miles and Pat also talk about the future of the Fisker Owners Association (FOA), why communities can outlast companies, and why Pat believes the Fisker story may eventually deserve to be made into a movie. Pat's book is expected to become available toward the end of August, with a portion of the proceeds going back to the FOA. Updates and ordering information will be shared as publication gets closer.

What happens when a car company disappears but its community refuses to quit? In this episode of Ocean Currents, Miles sits down with Daniel McGauley, a software professional and former filmmaker who has taken on an ambitious project: documenting the Fisker Ocean story and the passionate owners, engineers, YouTubers, and volunteers working to keep these vehicles on the road. Daniel discusses his vision for the film, the people he hopes to interview, lessons learned from previous automotive documentary projects, and why the Fisker community may be one of the most unique groups in the EV world. The conversation also explores the long-term future of the Fisker Ocean, software development, parts availability, vehicle modifications, and why many owners plan to keep their Oceans for years to come. If you're a Fisker owner, EV enthusiast, or simply interested in remarkable automotive stories, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

In this episode of the Ocean Currents podcast, Andrew Bock and Bill Spohn are joined by Miles Sedgwick and two prominent FOA leaders from the EU and UK — Geeta and Jose — to dive into the unique challenges and successes of Fisker ownership outside North America. The conversation addresses common perceptions that the EU and UK communities are "left out," highlighting instead a vibrant, collaborative ecosystem of owners and volunteers who are innovating solutions, supporting each other, and building bridges across language and geography.   From the nuances of right-hand drive vehicles in the UK to organizing cross-border parts distribution and solving complex software issues, Geeta and Jose share firsthand stories of community ingenuity — like crowdfunded water pump buys, on-the-road repairs during ski trips, and volunteer-led "boot loop" fixes. They emphasize that FOA is a truly global effort, with shared problems and solutions flowing between continents, and that patience and cooperation remain key to long-term success.   Listeners will gain insight into the resilience and creativity of EU and UK owners as they navigate software updates, parts availability, and service coverage while working toward a unified, worldwide FOA. Along the way, the discussion offers a healthy dose of humor, camaraderie, and even a few good-natured jabs about driving on "the wrong side of the car." Ocean Currents is excited to bring this episode to the Fisker Ocean community. On today's episode, we're joined by Dorian Rosales from Pat's Garage (a legacy Fisker shop) in San Francisco. Dorian spent several months troubleshooting and attempting to fix a pretty material issue with my Fisker Ocean...doors that would not open. Dorian shares his insights and learnings from this ordeal (and many others), one that we hope won't be a widespread issue. If you have any follow-up questions from this conversation, feel free to send us an email.

"Being disconnected hasn't stopped me from driving—but it has stopped me from trusting."
"The FOA are the helpers. And when you're lost, you find the helpers."
 "The car's back—but the confidence isn't."
"This isn't just a car problem—it's a community resilience story." In this candid and timely episode of Ocean Currents, Bill Spohn and Andrew Bock unpack a whirlwind of developments affecting Fisker owners following the brand's cloud connectivity shutdown. Andrew shares his long-awaited vehicle return saga after nearly two months of unresolved technical issues, including a mysterious door lockout that left techs stumped, even after replacing the 12V battery, BCM, and door handle. The conversation highlights the shared frustrations of Fisker owners, like the alarming entrapment report from Kentucky and the community's grassroots efforts to engineer workarounds like manual door releases. They also touch on the FOA's proactive role in updating members through advisories, private podcasts, and a rapidly rescheduled town hall. A balanced PCMag article on the connectivity fallout gets praise, and so does the promising progress of the OceanLink Pro app—currently in beta, with a deeper dive planned soon. Wrapping up, the hosts preview upcoming episodes focused on international owners, OceanLink Pro's official release, and a follow-up interview with technician Dorian to dig deeper into Andrew's repair odyssey. In this super-sized, powerful, and deeply human episode of the Ocean Currents Podcast, Andrew Bock and Bill Spohn sit down with Cristian Fleming, president of the Fisker Owners Association (FOA), for a wide-ranging and insightful discussion. Cristian shares the origin story of the FOA, driven by a mix of injustice, obsession, and a desire to help a community left stranded after Fisker's collapse. He describes his background as a systems designer, how his hyperfocus became a superpower in this situation, and how he helped lead an improbable movement to take ownership, both figuratively and literally, of a struggling electric vehicle (EV) brand. Cristian delves into the complexity of managing recalls, cloud-based software, community-sourced repairs, and the unique legal structures behind the FOA, Tsunami, Tidal Wave, and Undercurrent. He emphasizes transparency, shared responsibility, and the critical role of the community, not just in fixing cars but in supporting one another through a turbulent and uncharted journey. The episode also touches on the sometimes psychological toll of the situation, with poignant reflections on personal relationships and the need for regulation around EV software ownership. In this episode of Ocean Currents, Bill Spohn and Andrew Bock dive into a wide-ranging update for Fisker Ocean owners, covering everything from personal mishaps (like Bill's run-in with his hood) to broader industry developments. Andrew shares his month-long absence from the Ocean while his vehicle sits in the shop, allowing him to test-drive several EV competitors like the Mustang Mach-E, Kia EV6, and BMW i4. Despite some impressive features, he longs for the Ocean's unique feel and driving experience. A major focus of the conversation is Chase's recent wave of settlement offers tied to Fisker Finance loans. Andrew and Bill unpack the confusing math and emotional weight behind these decisions, emphasizing that each owner's choice will vary depending on their financial position and risk tolerance. They also note the involvement of the law firm Hagens Berman in negotiating better terms, encouraging members to stay engaged, informed, and cautious about jumping at the first offer. Finally, the hosts cover FOA updates, including the shift to Zoom webinars for town halls, the Tidal Wave parts platform launch (www.tidal-wave.eu) in Europe, and upcoming features in the OceanLink Pro app like pet mode and preconditioning. They also flag more significant issues like looming tariffs and cloud-related challenges, urging members to stay connected through FOA channels and not rely solely on the swirl of social media. Hey Fisker Fam...well, we tried. As much as we would have loved to record these sessions with all three candidates on the ballot (Christian Fleming, Mitchell St. Amant and Ray Brown) the only one we could record was Mitch. At the very least, we wanted you to hear what Mitch had to say. Here's that interview for you. Happy voting!

Hey Fisker Fam. Some travel challenges prevented us from getting our regularly scheduled show out today. We'll release a special episode next week featuring interviews with the prospective FOA Presidents.
