Is Meta Ads More Expensive Now?
2026/10/26
Are Meta Ads getting more expensive - and does that mean they're no longer worth it?
In this episode, Miles breaks down why advertising costs have risen, from inflation to increased competition between gyms, and why higher costs don't necessarily mean worse results.
He shares three ways to keep your Meta campaigns performing in 2026: sharpen your messaging so you stand out, make your creative do the hard work, and rotate different styles of ads to prevent fatigue.
The key takeaway? Meta Ads can still be one of your most powerful marketing tools - provided you're getting the most out of your budget.

Gym Owner Interview: HUB
2026/10/19
How do you grow an SGPT gym while stepping away from the day-to-day?
In this episode, Miles sits down with Fenton Hancock, Founder of HUB in Hitchin, to discuss his journey from one-to-one PT to running an SGPT gym with 190 active members.
Fenton shares how he built HUB to 150 members through organic growth alone, using referrals, local events and a strong brand before introducing paid advertising to take the business to the next level.
He also discusses the challenges of finding and securing the right facility, why switching to phone sales helped him save time, and how he’s learning to delegate more responsibility to his coaching team.
Finally, Fenton explains his plans for HUB’s future, including refining their target market, reaching 200 members and building a business that can grow without relying on him to run every part of it.

Very Few Sales Are Actually 'Organic'
2026/10/12
Are your “organic” leads really organic?
In this episode, Miles explains why gym owners shouldn’t judge their marketing based solely on where the final lead or sale came from.
He breaks down how a prospect might see a paid ad, check out your Instagram, read your emails, look at your Google reviews and visit your website before eventually booking a call - meaning that what looks like an organic sale may have been influenced by multiple marketing channels along the way.
Miles also explains why the industry has become more saturated, why looking at the last click can lead to poor marketing decisions, and how gym owners should take a more holistic view of their marketing strategy.
The key takeaway: paid and organic marketing work together - so look at the whole customer journey, not just where the final click came from.

Gym Owner Interview: STRIVE Training Club
2026/10/05
In this episode, George sits down with Jordan from STRIVE Training Club in Australia, to unpack his journey from one-to-one personal trainer to building a growing two-site SGPT business.
Jordan shares why he chose a one-to-six model, how he got clear on the specific customer he wanted to serve, and why becoming more niche has played such a big role in STRIVE's growth.
They also dive into the launch of STRIVE's second location, including the 90-day pre-sale that helped them open with 105 members, the role of deposits and scarcity, and why Jordan believes social proof content has been one of the biggest drivers of their sales.
Along the way, Jordan shares lessons on site selection, marketing spend, team structure, building a business that doesn't rely on the owner being on the gym floor, and his ambition to build long-term careers for his coaches.
A great episode for any gym owner looking to build a more scalable SGPT business.

Gym Owner Interview: Alchemy PT
2026/09/28
Leah started her personal training business in her in-laws’ shed, initially delivering one-to-one PT before gradually moving into small group training. Today, she runs Alchemy Personal Training from her own purpose-built facility in Bury St Edmunds.
In this episode, Miles sits down with Leah to unpack the journey and some of the biggest decisions she’s made along the way.
Leah explains why she abandoned plans to offer a mixture of one-to-one PT, classes and SGPT and instead went all-in on one clear offering. She also shares how Alchemy found its ideal over-40s demographic, why she resisted lowering prices despite having a limited-capacity gym, and the importance of building a strong local brand rather than simply switching marketing on when spaces need filling.
They also discuss the decision to hire her first coach, how doing so gave Leah more time and headspace to grow the business, and her longer-term ambition to build one great gym that provides the work-life balance she wants.
A great conversation for SGPT gym owners looking to build a more focused, sustainable business - without feeling like bigger always has to mean better.

3 Things You Should Never Copy From Another Gym
2026/09/21
It's easy to look at another gym and assume they've cracked it. Their facility looks great, their content gets engagement and their pricing must be working - so why not follow what they're doing?
In this episode, George explains why that can be a costly mistake and breaks down 3 things SGPT gym owners should never blindly copy from another gym: prices, equipment and content.
He explains why SGPT should be valued as personal training rather than compared with traditional gym memberships, why expensive equipment doesn't necessarily improve the experience your ideal customer actually cares about and why copying another gym's content makes little sense when you don't know who they're targeting - or whether that content is generating any business at all.
George also shares lessons from building INTENT91, including spending thousands on equipment that ultimately wasn't right for their ideal customer.
The takeaway is simple: start with the business you want to build and the people you want to help, then reverse engineer your pricing, facility, equipment and marketing around that - rather than copying what looks successful from the outside.

6 Lessons from 6 Years of Marketing SGPT Gyms
2026/09/14
6 years ago, INTENT91 opened the doors to its first gym. Today, the business has 6 locations, and 6 years of lessons from marketing and growing an SGPT brand.
In this episode, Miles shares 6 lessons he’s learned along the way, starting with why gym owners should stop chasing the next shiny object and instead double down on the marketing strategies that are already generating results.
He explains why you shouldn’t pay too much attention to what competitors are doing, why social proof continues to be one of the most powerful ways to build trust, and why trying to appeal to everyone can make it harder to consistently generate the right leads.
Miles also covers the impact of having a purpose-built CRM and why cost per acquisition (CPA) should take priority over metrics like cost per lead when judging the success of your marketing.
6 lessons from 6 years of marketing INTENT91 - including the mistakes, changes and strategies that have helped take the business from one location to 6.

Launching a New Gym
2026/09/07
Opening a new SGPT gym? The work starts well before you open the doors.
In this episode, Miles shares the approach that Hamper's own personal training gyms, INTENT91, are using to launch their latest location, focusing on one of the most important parts of the process: pre-sale.
He explains why gym owners should ideally start building their local presence around 8 weeks before opening, begin selling Founding Memberships around 6 weeks out, and create a compelling offer with limited availability to incentivise people to commit early.
Miles also breaks down how Meta Ads can help generate demand in a brand-new area, why testimonials and social proof are essential when you're not yet known locally, and why you shouldn't expect every early lead to be ready to buy immediately.
The goal is simple: don't open your doors and then start looking for members. Build the demand first, so you can hit the ground running from day one.

In-Person vs Phone Sales
2026/08/31
Book a discovery call with Hamper here!
In-person sales might give you a higher conversion rate, but does that actually mean you're making more sales?
In this episode, George breaks down the difference between selling your front-end programme in person and over the phone, and shares 3 key factors SGPT gym owners should consider when deciding which approach is right for their business.
From the importance of lead volume and brand trust to the time involved in in-person consultations, George explains why he favours phone sales at INTENT91 where around 95% of their 6 week programmes are sold over the phone.
But that doesn't mean phone sales are automatically the right choice for every gym. If your current sales process is working and your gym is growing, there's no reason to change it. The key is understanding what your current approach is allowing you to achieve and where there may be room to improve.
