#51 The Thyroid Tests Your Doctor May Be Missing | Dr. Heather Stone
2026/09/25
What if your thyroid labs look “normal,” but you’re still exhausted, struggling with your weight, losing your hair, dealing with anxiety, or simply feeling like something isn’t right?
In this episode of Meat Matters, I sit down with Dr. Heather Stone, a functional medicine practitioner with more than 20 years of clinical experience helping women with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
We talk about why Hashimoto’s is about more than just the thyroid, why symptoms can persist even when standard thyroid labs appear normal, and why Dr. Stone believes you have to look deeper to understand what may be driving those symptoms. We also discuss the difference between hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s, thyroid antibodies, blood sugar regulation, stress, hormones, gut health, food sensitivities, environmental exposures, and the testing she uses in her practice.
Dr. Stone also walks us through her Thyroid Transformation Blueprint, including comprehensive testing, identifying potential underlying triggers, customized care, coaching, and retesting as your health changes. recording-with-dr-heather-stone
We get into nutrition too — including gluten, dairy, ketogenic diets, nightshades, oxalates, and why individual tolerance matters. Plus, I share parts of my own Hashimoto’s journey, including debilitating fatigue, my experience with thyroid medication, CGM experiments, and the ongoing process of figuring out what my body needs.
If you have Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, unexplained fatigue, weight-loss resistance, hair loss, anxiety, blood sugar issues, or you've been told your thyroid labs are “normal” even though you don't feel normal, this conversation is for you.

#50 The “Fat Stacking” Mistake Carnivores Need to Stop Making with Linda Salant
2026/09/18
In this episode of Meat Matters, I’m joined by Linda Salant, better known as The Carnitarian, to talk about one of the biggest debates in the carnivore world: are some people eating too much fat?
Linda has been carnivore for more than a decade, and we break down fat stacking, high-fat vs. high-protein carnivore, body composition, muscle preservation, and why constantly adding butter, cheese, and fatty cuts may not always help with fat loss.
We also talk about making carnivore more sustainable, common mistakes new carnivores make, what to do when weight loss stalls, and Linda’s new book, The Seasoned Carnivore: A Real World Guide to Sustainable Carnivore Living.
If you’re wondering whether you need more protein, less added fat, or a more realistic approach to carnivore, this episode is for you.

#49 Could Candida Be Causing Your Hashimoto’s? Dr. Michael Biamonte Explains
2026/09/04
In this episode of Meat Matters, I sit down with Dr. Michael Biamonte, founder of the Biamonte Center for Clinical Nutrition, for a fascinating conversation about Candida overgrowth, gut health, leaky gut, Hashimoto’s, and thyroid dysfunction.
Dr. Biamonte has spent decades studying Candida, and he explains why he believes Candida overgrowth can contribute to a wide range of seemingly unrelated symptoms—including fatigue, brain fog, digestive problems, skin issues, food sensitivities, and autoimmune conditions. We dig specifically into the potential relationship between Candida, intestinal permeability, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
This conversation became especially interesting for me because while I’ve made tremendous progress with my own Hashimoto’s, persistent fatigue has been one of the symptoms I haven’t been able to completely resolve. So naturally, I wanted to know: could there be another piece of the puzzle I haven't looked at yet?
We also get into thyroid testing beyond TSH, including Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, mineral status, fasting insulin, cortisol, estrogen, and why Dr. Biamonte believes standard bloodwork may not always explain why someone continues to experience hypothyroid symptoms.
And then we go deep on Candida testing and treatment: organic acids testing, stool testing, leaky gut testing, probiotics, the gut microbiome, antifungals, Candida die-off, and why Dr. Biamonte says addressing a significant Candida problem can be a much longer process than simply taking an antifungal for a few weeks. If you have Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, unexplained fatigue, brain fog, digestive problems, or you’ve been told your thyroid labs are “normal” even though you still don’t feel like yourself, this conversation will give you plenty to think about.
As always, this podcast is for educational purposes only and is not medical advice. The views and clinical approaches discussed by guests are their own. Talk with a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to medications, supplements, or treatment.

At 68 years old, Anita Breeze of Ketogenic Woman says she feels better than she did decades ago—and she has the transformation to back it up.
In this episode, Anita shares how she lost more than 150 pounds through keto and carnivore, why she eventually moved toward a stricter carnivore approach, and what she believes women over 50 need to understand about weight loss, protein, muscle, food noise, inflammation, and healthy aging.

#47 Naomi Janzen Says You Can Rewire Food Cravings — So I Tested It
2026/08/21
If you’ve ever wondered why you can be completely committed to your diet, know exactly what you should eat, and STILL find yourself craving something you don’t even physically need… this conversation is for you.
In this episode of Meat Matters, I sit down with Naomi Janzen, international best-selling author and expert in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), to explore the emotional side of food cravings—and why changing what you eat doesn’t always make those deeply conditioned cravings disappear.
Naomi explains how EFT, often called “tapping,” is used to identify and break emotional associations with food, what research and brain imaging have shown about the technique, and why some cravings may be connected to memories and experiences we don’t consciously recognize.
And I didn’t just want to talk about it—I wanted to test it.
Naomi walks me through an EFT session in real time using one of my own persistent cravings: Coke Zero. I started the exercise rating my craving at an 8 out of 10, and we watched what happened as we tapped through it. Along the way, we uncovered a surprising connection between that craving and memories from my childhood that I had never considered before.
We also discuss:
The difference between physiological and emotional cravings
Why cravings can persist even on a Carnivore diet
Why willpower may not be the answer
What EFT tapping actually is and how to do it
Research comparing EFT with other approaches
What before-and-after brain imaging has shown
How memories can become associated with specific foods
Naomi’s own experience overcoming food cravings
Whether tapping can create lasting changes
How you can begin experimenting with EFT yourself
This was one of those conversations where I went in curious and skeptical enough to want to see it for myself—and came away with a completely different perspective on where some of our cravings may actually come from.
Have you ever had a craving that seemed to have absolutely nothing to do with hunger? Let me know in the comments.

#46 The Unbelievable Story Behind One of Carnivore's Fastest Rising Coaches | Ivy Sardi
2026/08/14
In this episode of Meat Matters, I sit down with Ivy Sardi for an incredible conversation about addiction, incarceration, second chances, and the journey that ultimately led him to the carnivore lifestyle.
Ivy was once a promising athlete, but after a serious injury derailed the future he had envisioned, his life began spiraling into drugs, addiction, and eventually prison. He says going to jail ultimately saved his life—giving him the time and space to get sober, take an honest look at who he had become, and make the decision to completely rebuild his life.
Today, Ivy is a carnivore coach helping others transform their health, and we dive into what he has learned along the way. We talk about his unexpected path to carnivore, why he believes healing should come before obsessing over weight loss, fasting and changing your eating patterns, metabolic health, mindset, consistency, and why blindly copying someone else's carnivore approach can backfire.
Ivy's story is about much more than food. It's about what can happen when you hit rock bottom, decide your past doesn't have to determine your future, and take advantage of a second chance.
In this episode, we discuss:
Ivy's journey from promising athlete to addiction and incarcerationWhy he says jail saved his lifeRebuilding his health and identity after addictionHow he discovered carnivore before realizing it had a nameTurning his transformation into a career helping othersWhy health improvements don't always show up immediately on the scaleFasting, OMAD, and changing eating patternsWeight-loss stalls on carnivoreWhy individual experimentation mattersThe mindset shift that helped Ivy completely change the direction of his life

#45 Miss Meat: The Carnivore Diet Changed My Life at 24
2026/06/11
In this episode of Meat Matters, I sit down with Miss Meat to talk about her journey from lifelong stomach issues, acid reflux, cystic acne, and years of trying to “eat clean” to finding animal-based eating and eventually going full carnivore.
At just 24 years old, Miss Meat has built a large following online by sharing her meat-based lifestyle, rare steaks, simple meals, and honest experience with healing her gut, skin, and mindset through carnivore. We talk about what she was eating before carnivore, how her friends and family reacted, why she believes more young people are afraid of meat, and what it is really like to share such a controversial way of eating on social media.
We also get into her day of eating, why she feels best on a mostly lion-style carnivore approach, her thoughts on salt, fat, weight loss stalls, and her biggest advice for anyone just starting carnivore.
Whether you are new to carnivore, curious about animal-based eating, or just want to hear a younger perspective on this lifestyle, this conversation is such a fun and honest look at what happens when you stop fearing meat and start listening to your body.

2026/05/06
In this episode of Meat Matters, I sit down with Sara Banta to talk about some of the most misunderstood topics in health right now: iodine, liver cleansing, parasites, and why so many people still feel unwell even when they’re eating better.
We get into the iodine and Hashimoto’s debate, how iodine interacts with the thyroid, and why toxin exposure from things like fluoride, bromide, and chlorine may matter more than most people realize. We also talk about liver health, what a liver cleanse is meant to do, and how sluggish detox pathways can affect fat loss, digestion, and energy.
We also discuss parasites, common symptoms people may overlook, and how parasite cleansing fits into the bigger picture of gut health and detoxification.
If you’ve been dealing with fatigue, bloating, brain fog, thyroid issues, or stubborn weight loss, this is a fascinating conversation that connects a lot of dots.

#38 Dr. Ken Berry Spits the Hard Truth About Carnivore, GLP-1s, Coffee & Dairy
2026/01/22
In this in-depth conversation, Dr. Ken Berry breaks down what most people get wrong about the carnivore diet, low-carb nutrition, dairy, processed meats, and GLP-1 medications — and why so many modern health guidelines are failing us.
Dr. Berry shares his personal journey from medical school to family medicine, and eventually becoming one of the most outspoken advocates for low-carb and carnivore diets. After struggling with severe obesity and pre-diabetes, he began questioning conventional dietary advice and turned to nutrition science, historical eating patterns, and real-world patient outcomes.
We discuss how dietary guidelines, big food, and pharmaceutical companies influence public health messaging — and why chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disease are not genetic inevitabilities, but largely diet-driven.
This episode tackles common myths around the carnivore diet, including:
Whether processed meats are allowed or harmful
Why some people tolerate raw dairy better than conventional dairy
The role of diet drinks and coffee in low-carb lifestyles
How GLP-1 medications like Ozempic work, their risks, and why they should be used cautiously
What to do when blood pressure remains elevated despite doing “everything right”
Dr. Berry emphasizes the importance of accountability, community support, and returning to what he calls a proper human diet — one rooted in biology, not marketing. If you’re interested in carnivore, low-carb, metabolic health, nutrition science, or understanding the truth behind modern health trends, this episode is a must-watch.

#37 We're Running a Carnivore Blood Work Experiment (Here's How to Join)
2026/01/15
We’re running a brand-new Carnivore Bloodwork Experiment and you can join it today.
If you’re new to the carnivore diet (or about to start), this is your chance to test your bloodwork before and after 30 days on carnivore and see what actually changes—using real labs, not guesses.
This experiment is hosted through Own Your Labs (OwnYourLabs)—the same company I personally use for my own bloodwork. In 44 out of 50 U.S. states, you can order labs directly.
✅ How to join: Scan the QR code on screen or click this link for more info: https://ownyourlabs.com/experiments/d4ddb151-fa29-4c42-9ee4-3ba6e1f60322
What labs are included (simple + affordable)
This carnivore blood test bundle is intentionally straightforward so anyone can participate:
1) Lipid PanelLDL cholesterolHDL cholesterolTriglyceridesTotal cholesterol
2) Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)ElectrolytesKidney functionLiver enzymesFasting glucose
3) Fasting InsulinThis is one of the most important markers to track on ultra-low-carb diets like carnivore, and many people see fasting insulin drop significantly.
💰 Cost: After discounts, the total is around $27 per bundle.
Experiment timeline (before + after)
Take your baseline bloodwork right before you start carnivore (or within the first week of starting)
Follow the carnivore diet for ~30 days
Retest the same labs around day 30
Compare your results to see what changed
This is a simple N=1 experiment that helps you track your metabolic health, insulin resistance, and blood markers during your first month of carnivore.
Why we’re doing this
People start carnivore and wonder:
What happens to triglycerides and HDL?
What happens to LDL cholesterol?
What changes in fasting glucose?
Does fasting insulin improve?
What does carnivore do to kidney and liver markers?
This experiment gives you a clean before-and-after snapshot—plus anonymized data that can help build better real-world understanding of carnivore outcomes.
➡️ Join the experiment: Head to this link and purchase Bundle 1. With my discount JennyMitich and the Citizen Science discount, you can get a total of 20% off each bloodwork bundle:
