Keeping the Legends Alive: An Interview with Bob Kendrick
2026/10/22
Some stories are bigger than baseball. This week, we're honored to share one of them. On this special episode of Swing and a Miss, we're joined by Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, one of the game's most passionate storytellers and tireless advocates for preserving baseball history. From the extraordinary legacy of Buck O'Neil to the groundbreaking careers of Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, and countless other legends, Bob takes us into a world of baseball history that deserves far more recognition than it has received. We explore the importance of the Negro Leagues, the incredible talent and personalities who shaped them, and why preserving these stories isn't just about honoring the past—it's about understanding the game we love today. But this conversation is about more than statistics, championships, and legendary ballplayers. It's about perseverance, opportunity, friendship, and the power of storytelling to ensure that generations of greatness are never forgotten. Whether you're a lifelong baseball fan or just discovering the history of the Negro Leagues, this is a conversation you won't want to miss. Because baseball history isn't complete without Negro Leagues history. Join us for an unforgettable conversation with Bob Kendrick, right here on Swing and a Miss. Episode 41: Wild Card Recap and Division Series (So Far)
2026/10/06

We break down the biggest moments from the Wild Card round, check in on the rest of the playoff picture, hand out some extremely serious and definitely well-researched opinions, and try to figure out which teams actually look built to survive October. Plus, we’ve got Ballpark Brews, Avery Demands Answers, trivia, and all the usual nonsense that somehow keeps this baseball podcast on the rails. October has arrived. And so has the stress.

Throwing Heat: Our Interview with Boston Hunters Captain Alli Schroder!
2026/09/28
This week, we’re joined by Boston Hunters captain Alli Schroder, one of the players helping usher in a new era of professional baseball. Alli takes us through a remarkable baseball journey. From pitching for Team Canada at just 16 years old and winning a World Cup bronze medal, to becoming the first woman to play in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Conference, to being selected fifth overall in the inaugural WPBL Draft and becoming captain of the Boston Hunters. We talk about the pressure of taking the mound against Team USA as a teenager, the slider that’s been one of her calling cards, being a dangerous hitter at the professional level, and what it means to finally play in a league where women playing baseball isn’t treated as the exception. And because apparently professional baseball wasn’t enough, Alli also tells us about her other job: fighting wildfires in British Columbia; including bringing a glove and Driveline balls to fire camp just to keep her arm ready. Baseball, leadership, pressure, breaking barriers, fighting actual fires, and helping build the future of the sport.

WPBL Championship — The Firebells and Queens are headed to a winner-take-all Game 5 for the first championship in league history. Ballpark Brews — Because baseball is better with a beer.
