2026/10/09
Send us Fan Mail
We're back (again) 😮💨 It's been one club after another: TIFF, interviews, concerts and life, so we sat down to catch up on all of it.
We get into our TIFF highlights, from Club Kid (a five out of five for us) to La Bola Negra, plus the Carrie interview where Matthew Lillard had some thoughts about a crop top. We talk interviewing Chlöe Bailey, how we read the vibe going into interviews, our packed concert calendar, and the songs we can't stop playing this month. We also make the case for Ellie Goulding's I Know Too Much.
Big news: one of us is heading to Japan for a month ✈️ Guest cohosts are joining us until November, so don't get too attached.
HotTake: where do you draw the line on girl code? 👇
Our TIFF interviews are making their way onto the feed. Keep following along as we have many more to come.
Making M********e Sound Poetic with Jamie Fine
2026/09/25
Send us Fan Mail
Jamie Fine gets real about meds, mood, and making music that actually feels like her.
We sit down with Jamie Fine for a conversation that starts with ADHD, meds, and creativity and moves into real talk about privacy, healing, and staying yourself while getting "better." She opens up about breakup recovery without turning it into content, and how that healing led straight into her new single "Waking Up Okay," written with her band and producer Kayla Diamond.
From there we get into building a music career in a streaming first world, her early days on The Launch, and why creative control matters more to her now than ever. Plus tour hype for Toronto and Ottawa, and hot takes on condo security and texting etiquette.
Listen to Jamie's new single "Waking Up Okay," join her mailing list, and grab tickets to the tour.
Why Country Stars Get a Pass That Pop Girls Never Do
2026/09/04
Send us Fan Mail
We're back, baby! 🌧️ We finally sat down for a proper Osheaga recap: dancing in the rain to Zara Larsson, Tate McRae killing it, ticking Major Lazer off the bucket list, and the Charli rumours during Lorde's set.
Then we get into Doja Cat vs Ella Langley and why country artists get held to a different standard than pop girls, remember Dolly Parton and the lessons she left us, mourn Mindy Kaling's Not Suitable for Work getting cancelled after one season, hype Adults season 2 (plus that Sabrina Carpenter cameo theory), and take a very unplanned detour into how the original Sailor Moon dub censored its queer characters.
This week's HotTake: having rich parents doesn't automatically make you a nepo baby. Agree or disagree? Tell us in the comments 👇
Our Osheaga interviews with Mico, Valley and Tia Wood are live, check them out on our channel.
Jade LeMac on New Music, Opening Up for Hilary Duff, And Her Current No-Skip Album
2026/08/25
Send us Fan Mail
Two members on hiatus. A fanbase arguing over “TikTok songs” vs “let them sing” tracks. And the uncomfortable truth that labels still control how girl groups get to exist. We open with the KATSEYE drama, the Fifth Harmony parallels we can't ignore, and why a “mental break” hits different depending on who's actually choosing it.
Then we ride the pop girl summer wave into solo era wins: ADÉLA's sharp early 2000s throwback, Slayyyter's first Billboard Hot 100 entry with "Brand New Chanel$," and the late love for Camila Cabello's C,XOXO as fans finally catch up. Also we met Hilary Duff and yes, it was surreal.
The heart of the episode is our guest Jade LeMac, fresh off opening for Hilary Duff alongside La Roux. She talks dream stages, Coachella, watching industry vets up close, and why queer women in pop matter right now. Plus her next era: new look, heavier R&B and hip hop, music that's darker and more her.
We close with Disney nostalgia, Camp Rock 3 chatter, and quick picks including an Anne Hathaway thriller with Cloverfield rumors swirling. Subscribe, share with your girl group friend, and drop your no skip album in the reviews.
KATSEYE, Tyla, Charli XCX and the Movies Taking Over The Summer

Send us Fan Mail
This week we're running through KATSEYE's new single "Animal," ADÉLA's upcoming album "Prima," Tyla's latest, and Charli XCX's "Music Fashion Film," then pivoting to quick movie reviews of I Want Your Sex and The Odyssey.
Then we close with a real HotTake: does streaming actually support the artists we love, or is it all about concerts, vinyl, and merch? We get into stan culture, cost of living, and where fan pressure crosses a line.
Subscribe for more, and let us know where you land, is streaming enough or do artists need more from fans?

Send us Fan Mail
Cape Breton's finest have arrived. Tracy & Martina are pulling up to PopTake to talk about their new film Goin' Out West, and honestly we could not be more excited.
But first, Osheaga excitement and our Album of the Year picks so far. We're talking Underscores, Slayyyter, Madison Beer, Olivia Rodrigo, Demi Lovato, Maisie Peters, and Zara Larsson. Strong opinions guaranteed.
Then Tracy & Martina sit down with us to spill on Goin' Out West, in theatres now at select locations across the country, hitting TVO this fall, and streaming on Crave starting September 1.
And because we can't help ourselves, we close it out with a HotTake or FlopTake

Pride season is in full swing and this week's episode has the energy to match. We're covering the biggest pop news of the week, including Taylor Swift's Toy Story 5 moment and Tinashe's brand new single "Too Easy," before sitting down with one of Canada's most exciting artists, RALPH. We get into her new single "Love Nouveau," what makes this project feel so distinctly queer and joyful, her favourite A24 film, and a whole lot more.
Kim Petras' Detour, Ariana Grande's Petal Era & Fifth Harmony's 7/27 Anniversary
2026/05/29
Send us Fan Mail
It is a massive week in pop and we are getting into all of it. Kim Petras is finally free and her debut studio album Detour dropped today on her own BunHead Records. Ariana Grande officially kicked off her Petal era with the release of lead single "Hate That I Made You Love Me”, and Lily Allen collaborated with JADE on a remix of her West End Girl track "Beg For Me."
Plus, we dive into Obsession, the horror movie everyone is Obsessed with, and 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of Fifth Harmony’s 7/27 and "Work From Home," and we have thoughts.
Harrison Browne on Heated Rivalry, Breaking Barriers & Life After Hockey
2026/05/25
Send us Fan Mail
We sat down with Canadian actor, activist, author, and former professional hockey player Harrison Browne for one of our favourite conversations yet.
Harrison made history as the first openly transgender athlete in professional hockey, and now he's making history again as part of the cast of the breakout LGBTQ+ drama Heated Rivalry, playing Connors on the Boston Raiders alongside Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie.
Harrison talks about booking Heated Rivalry, what it's been like watching the show explode globally, and the real moments behind the fandom frenzy. We get into his book Let Us Play, written alongside his sister, what being an openly trans actor in this moment actually looks like, and what's next on the vision board.
Plus, the Pussycat Dolls' Carmit solo era, Olivia Rodrigo's The Cure, and Charli XCX's SS26. Don't worry, it wouldn't be a PopTake episode without us chatting music (and giving our hot takes).
Coachella Roundup, New Demi Lovato,Meghan Trainor, and Jessie Ware is a Queer Icon
2026/04/24
Send us Fan Mail
The Coachella recap, new music from Demi Lovato and Meghan Trainor and why Jessie Ware is a queer icon.
We are coming down from Coachella and we have thoughts. Sabrina Carpenter brought out Madonna for Vogue and it was two generations of pop icons on one stage, plus our thoughts on Justin Bieber's performance.
Demi Lovato's It's Not That Deep Tour is in full swing and we had the best night of our lives. Plus she drops the deluxe album and we are breaking it all down. Meghan Trainor also dropped Toy With Me this week and Canadian Icon Ralph releases her new single "Girls Together" and it is very much a summer anthem.
We continue our love for vinyl with a full vinyl unboxing of Jessie Ware's Superbloom because she is a queer icon and we will not be taking questions.
Slay Day is the first ever interactive movie coming to 1,000 theaters in 2027 where the audience votes on who lives and dies and yes we are obsessed with this concept (well, one of us is).
Finally Bill 97 just passed in Ontario making it illegal to sell tickets above face value and Ticketmaster is already delisting resale listings. But what does Bill 97 do, and mean? We break down what this actually means for concert fans and for the freedom of information.
Olivia Rodrigo, Demi Lovato, Madonna & Tyla: Song of the Summer Contenders
2026/04/17
Send us Fan Mail
This week on PopTake we are absolutely spoiled.
We break down Olivia Rodrigo's brand new single "Drop Dead" and yes, we are already in our feelings about the new era. Demi Lovato drops "Low Rise Jeans" and it might be the song of the summer. Plus ADÉLA drops "KGB" while opening for Demi on tour. Madonna announced the highly anticipated Confessions II with "I Feel So Free".
Last (but definitely not least) Tyla and Zara Larsson link up for "She Did It Again" and the 2000s Britney energy is completely intentional.
On the film side, Mother Mary opens today (globally, in Canada next week) with Anne Hathaway as a pop star and music by Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff and it is a lot. Lee Cronin's The Mummy is also in cinemas and this is not the same mummy movie we grew up with. The Avatar: Aang movie got leaked and we're furious.
Finally, is it okay to wear brands you don't actually stan? and why are people so pressed about what music other people listen to.
We get into it.
