A coastal town at the very top of the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia. Have you heard of it? Maybe you’ve already been?  I know we’ve already been to Coral Bay in one of our stories, which is super close to Exmouth BUTTTTT I have been following lots of people traveling WA at the moment and I have been so inspired by one particular animal. Turtles were the star of the show in the Coral bay episode, called ‘The Fighting Feathers’. The star of the show in this story is……..a large animal. Its a fish! You can swim with them. They have spots. They eat plankton. Have you guessed it…. That’s right a whale shark!! 

'Hello From Nowhere' By Raewyn Caisley is a story about a girl called Eve who thinks that living in the middle of nowhere is better than living anywhere else in the world. Are you packed and ready?  Today, we’re heading to the southwest corner of Australia—to a place famous for its beaches, bikes, and brilliant blue water. We’re off to Busselton, in the beautiful South West of WA! This spot is a favourite for road trippers, ocean lovers, and families who want a mix of chill vibes and outdoor adventure. Have you heard of it? Have you been? Busselton is best known for its historic jetty—the longest wooden-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere! It stretches 1.8 kilometres out into Geographe Bay. Youcan walk it, ride the jetty train, or even dive beneath it to see the colourful marine life at the Underwater Observatory. People love going fishing and jumping off the jetty. It is a serious sight to see. 

Notes From the Heart is about an emu who finds himself feeling a bit miserable. He is sent on an adventure around Uluru where he goes looking for his happy. Will he find it? What will make Emu smile? Let’s find out! Are you packed and ready? Today, we’re heading inland—right into the heart of Australia. To a place that glows red in the sunshine, And seems to change colour with every hour of the day. Here’s a clue:  It’s not by the ocean…  It’s in the desert.  And it’s one of the most sacred and iconic landmarks in the whole country. Can you guess where we’re going? That’s right—we’re off to Uluru! Rising up from the flat desert floor, This massive sandstone rock is truly a sight to behold. Have you seen it? Have you been? Uluru is ancient—over 500 million years old! And it’s deeply important to the Anangu people, the Traditional Owners of this land. They’ve lived here for thousands of years, And their stories are written in the rocks, the caves, and the sky. Uluru stands 348 metres tall, but most of it is actually underground— Like a giant iceberg made of stone! Walk around the base and you might spot rock paintings,  Or hear the wind whispering through the desert trees.  You might even catch the sunset, when Uluru glows a brilliant red-orange—  As if it’s lit up from within. This isn’t just a rock.  It’s a story. A spirit. A connection to Country.

One Eyed Octopus Rules the Reef is about a lighthouse keeper who spots the unthinkable—an Octopus pirate sailing the seas aboard a pretty different kind of ship! At first One-Eyed Octopus and his trusty Ship set their sights on treasure, but they discover something far more valuable beneath the water. What do you think that will be? Let’s find out!

Today’s story is called ‘Dragonfly’s Adventure Ride’. Its about a dragonfly who thinks her hometown is a little bit dull until she stumbles across some unexpected adventures that have always been right under her nose.What adventures will Dragonfly find and who will be her adventure buddy? Today’s story is called ‘Shouting Shells and Ocean Spells’. It's about an angry shell who finds an object in her bay which does not belong there! But the object ends up having a special power. What could the mystery object be? Who will find it and what will it do??? Let’s find out! Well today we are off to my favourite holiday spot, Wajemup, Rottnest Island. Rottnest Island is about 20km from the mainland. It takes just 20 minutes on a ferry to get there from Freo and about 45 minutes from Hillary’s. Rottnest is an amazing and popular holiday spot but it does have a sad history. After WA was colonised, European settlers actually used Wadjemup as a prison. Thousands of aboriginal boys and men were sent there and the conditions that they faced were not great. Far from it. It is important to keep an open mind and open heart, to have compassion for all people and seek a deeper understanding of our history. There are opportunities on the island to learn more and show your respect to those who were mistreated and lost their lives. A trip to Rotto will see you munching on a jam donut from the bakery, spotting quokkas, snorkelling on some amazing reef and riding around to find the day’s perfect swimming spot. And if you’e lucky you’ll get some crayfish for dinner! In the evenings you might see the  resident Eagle Ray gliding through Geordie Bay around sunset and after dinner you can head down to the jetty with your head torch for a little fish and more quokka spotting on the way home. 

Today’s story is called ‘The Grumpy Gumnut’. Its about a little girl who discovers a gumnut on the ground during a bush walk and takes him for an adventure which he isn’t so keen on. Will gumnut make it back to his friends in the forest? Let’s find out! The inspiration for this story came after going for a hike through the Otways myself. I am from WA where we don’t have koalas and seeing such an iconic Australian animal munching away on eucalyptus leaves in the wild, was really exciting. Plus this story features a gumnut and who doesn’t love a story about a gumnut?! Are you packed and ready? Our next stop is across the country to Apollo Bay, a beautiful coastal town along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. It takes about 2.5-3  hours to get to Apollo Bay from Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road which is a popular and breathtaking drive but its very windy! I hope you don’t get car sick! Apollo Bay is a cool place. It’s a seaside town so people love to fish, dive, swim and surf in the fresh Southern Ocean! It’s also an access point to the amazing Otway National Park which is a bush walkers paradise! The Otways has loads of walking tracks through cliffs, coasts, rainforests, and bushland. There are all trees, ancient plant life and lush ferns. There’s also so much wildlife. You might spot a koala, a wallaby, an echidna or maybe even a platypus if you head to the right spot! Apollo bay is truly the perfect spot for adventure and relaxation.  If you haven’t been, definitely add this one to your list.  And if you do, you might like to stop in at the Apollo Bay Bakery for a taste of their famous scallop pie if that tickles your fancy! Or maybe an ice cream at Dooleys!! Yum!

Turtle and Feather go on a quest to help save the turtle eggs which are under threat from a range of predators! They can't do it alone. Introducing the newest children's story podcast; Road Trip Rhymes.  Hi adventurers! Coming soon is Series 1 of, ‘Road Trip Rhymes’ This series will include original, fun, rhyming stories, each set in a different Australian location. Stories are written and read aloud by me- Bianca Stockden on Wadjuk Nyoongar Boodja. Each story will include themes of environmental stewardship, friendship and adventure. They are perfect for all ages from the little wild ones to the grey nomads too. As a teacher, I will also include support materials for those who want to explore a little more!  This podcast is for the road tripping families; the ones sticking it to the norm and choosing memories and learning in the wild. It's also for those who wish they were a road tripping family, the ones who crave a little adventure and travel in our backyard. It’s for the home schoolers. It’s for the teachers.
