Digger is going to divide people. Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s dark satire is strange, dreamlike, excessive and often very funny — but underneath all of that is something surprisingly plausible. Tom Cruise gives one of his boldest performances in years as oil tycoon Digger Rockwell, while Riz Ahmed and John Goodman are excellent in support. It definitely won’t work for everyone, but I really enjoyed the risks it takes — especially the moments that completely change how you understand what you’ve been watching. #Digger #TomCruise #Alejandro G Iñárritu #RizAhmed #JohnGoodman #MovieReview #FilmReview #MovieShorts 🎬 Spoiler-free review  Movie Shorts — serious film reviews with dry wit and just enough sarcasm.

Brad Pitt. One highly trained dog. The Alaskan wilderness — mostly filmed in New Zealand. What could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot, as it turns out. In this spoiler-free review, I look at Heart of the Beast, a stripped-back survival drama following James and his former military working dog Odin as they become completely reliant on each other in the wilderness. There’s stunning scenery, a quiet and committed Brad Pitt performance, an extraordinary canine co-star and a genuinely moving relationship at the centre of it all. There’s also a fairly relentless succession of disasters, some increasingly far-fetched survival moments and one CGI bear that we really need to talk about. Is Odin the real star? And what exactly is the “beast” in Heart of the Beast? Spoiler-free review Movie Shorts by Andy Mc — serious film reviews with dry wit and just enough sarcasm.

The End of Oak Street is chaotic, ridiculous, suspenseful and completely unbelievable… but somehow, it works. In this spoiler-free review, I look at why the film’s strong family performances help sell some increasingly questionable decisions, how the dinosaurs deliver genuine excitement and suspense, and why its Spielberg/Amblin throwback feel reminded me of the era of E.T. and The Goonies — with Stranger Things perhaps helping a new generation embrace that style all over again. There are plenty of moments where your brain will tell you, “That shouldn’t happen.” My advice? Park it. Accept the dinosaurs and enjoy the ride. 🎬 Spoiler-free review

Spider-Man is back, but does Brand New Day deliver one of Marvel's best adventures? In this spoiler-free review, I discuss Tom Holland's performance, the emotional themes, Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle, the film's strengths and weaknesses, and why Spider-Man remains one of the world's most relatable superheroes. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is far more than an epic filled with gods, monsters and breathtaking spectacle. In this spoiler-free review, I explore Nolan’s ambitious adaptation of Homer’s classic, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus. We discuss the performances, stunning IMAX cinematography, immersive sound design, Ludwig Göransson’s score and why this ancient story still feels remarkably relevant today. Is The Odyssey simply another blockbuster, or is it one of Christopher Nolan’s most thoughtful films to date? Join me as I break down what works, what doesn’t, and whether this epic journey is worth your time.
