Description
Welcome to “More Bible,” the official podcast of Reformation Covenant Church in Oregon City, Oregon. In Jesus’s High Priestly Prayer, He asked that His Father would sanctify His people in truth and then affirmed, “Your Word is truth.” In seeking to be a means to answering our Lord’s prayer, in each episode of More Bible, pastors and church officers will take questions from church members and provide answers from the Bible so that our people can grow in a deeper, more faithful understanding and application of God’s Word to their daily lives.

Death Penalty
2026/10/27
Assistant Pastor Ryan Ahlenius sits down with Pastor Bo Cogbill and John Unger (RCC's Director of Administration and Discipleship) to discuss the topic of the death penalty. The recent failed execution of Christa Pike has caused a big dust-up on whether it is unjust for the civil magistrate to utilize the death penalty. When is ending a life sinful? Biblically speaking, what is the difference between killing and murder? How do we understand 'the dignity of every human life' and ever call the death penalty 'just'? Listen in to hear more.

What does it mean to be a part of the catholic (or universal) church? Must we attend a local church in order to be a part of Christ's body? What did the Westminster Divines mean by the terms visible and invisible church? Are those the best categories for surveying the elect of God? Listen in to hear more and send any additional questions on this topic and any others to [email protected].
On Deaconesses
2026/09/29
In this episode, Assistant Pastor Ryan Ahlenius sits down with Pastor Cogbill and John Unger to discuss a question on 1 Timothy 3:11. The ESV translates 1 Timothy 3:11 as 'their wives', although a more faithful translation would be 'the women'. Is this verse referring to an office of deaconess? How does Titus 2 shed more light on women who serve the local church? How should we understand the uses of 'deacon' in reference to Phoebe in Romans 16:1? How does RCC seek to put our conclusions into practice? Tune in to hear more.

2026/09/22
In this episode, Assistant Pastor Ryan Ahlenius sits down with Pastor Cogbill and John Unger to discuss the qualifications and role of deacons in the church. Where do we see the term 'deacon' used in the Scriptures? What crossover is there between qualifications for deacons and elders? How does RCC carry out the office of deacon? When should an individual or family reach out to a deacon for assistance? Tune in to hear discussions of these questions and more.
Qualifications for Elders
2026/09/15
Reformation Covenant Church has taken the past several sermons to walk through the qualifications for eldership in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. In this episode of the podcast, John Unger sits down with Pastor Cogbill and Pastor Ahlenius to give a survey of these qualifications and why they are of vital importance. What are the different ways that each qualification has been translated by the KJV and ESV and how should we interpret the difference? How do each of these qualifications relate to the whole household of God? In verses 6-7, what is "the condemnation of the devil" and "the snare of the devil"? Tune in to find out.
Christian Reconstruction
2026/09/08
In this episode, Assistant Pastor Ryan Ahlenius sits down with John Unger and Brad Handgartner to discuss their current Sunday School class on the Pillars of Christian Reconstruction. What is Christian Reconstruction and how does it differ from Christian Nationalism? We survey a few common hang-ups about these ideas that those newer to a church like RCC may have, and describe why Christian Reconstruction is important language for understanding the goal of the Christian life. Tune in to hear more, and don't forget to prime your questions for the Sunday School Panel Discussion on 9/27!

How do we consider our relationship to God and His eternal decree, while holding fast to him in covenant faithfulness? What really is apostasy, and is it possible for a "regenerated" Christian to "lose their salvation?" Is there hope for Christians that we know who have apostatized from Jesus, and how should we relate to them?
