What If This Is Preparing You for What’s Ahead? — Jeremiah 12:5; Proverbs 24:10
2026/10/02
What if the difficulty you're facing now is developing strength you'll need later? Jeremiah's struggle gives us a powerful perspective on hard seasons.
What if the difficulty you're facing right now is strengthening you for something you'll need to face later?

In Jeremiah 12, Jeremiah had grown weary under opposition. Some of that opposition came from the leaders of Judah and even people from his own hometown.
God knew what Jeremiah was experiencing. He wasn't dismissing Jeremiah's feelings or pretending the opposition wasn't difficult.
But God also knew what was ahead.
He challenged Jeremiah: if running with people had worn him out, how would he compete with horses?
Jeremiah was going to need greater endurance.
And sometimes we do too.
When we're walking through a difficult season, our first prayer may simply be, “God, get me out of this.” But perhaps another prayer should be, “God, strengthen me while I'm here.”
Use this season to draw closer to Him. Allow Him to strengthen your faith, deepen your dependence on Him, and build the endurance you may need for whatever comes next.
You will get to the other side. But don't underestimate what God can develop in you along the way.

The Work No One Sees Still Matters — Acts 21:16
2026/10/01
Some of the most important work for God happens quietly. Mnason's brief appearance in Acts reminds us why behind-the-scenes faithfulness matters.
Some of the most important work for God happens quietly. It may never receive recognition, applause, or a platform—but that doesn't make it any less valuable.

In Acts 21:16, we meet Mnason, a lesser-known believer who had been following Christ since the early days of the church.
We don't know a great deal about him, but what Scripture tells us is meaningful. Mnason was from Cyprus, was connected to the Christian community, and opened his home to Paul and his companions.
His service was simple, practical, and important.
Mnason wasn't the person preaching in this story. He supported the people who were.
And ministry still needs people willing to do that today.
Maybe you pray for someone doing ministry. Maybe you give financially. Maybe you provide a meal, offer encouragement, volunteer, open your home, handle practical needs, or quietly make someone else's work possible.
Don't underestimate that service simply because it happens behind the scenes.
God can use the people in front—and the faithful people supporting them.

Never Underestimate the Influence You Have — Numbers 25:7-8
2026/09/30
You don't need a famous name or a large platform to have influence. Phinehas reminds us how one person's faithfulness can affect the people God has placed around them.
You may never be the most recognized person in your profession, family, church, or community. But never underestimate how God can use your influence, leadership, and example to affect the people He has placed in your care.

In Numbers 25, Israel was experiencing the devastating consequences of serious sin and idolatry. In the middle of that crisis, a priest named Phinehas took decisive action against the blatant sin occurring among the people. God's judgment was turned away, and the plague that had killed 24,000 Israelites came to an end.
Phinehas may not be one of the most prominent people in Scripture, but his story reminds us of the influence one faithful person can have.
Maybe you're a parent, teacher, manager, healthcare worker, firefighter, coach, ministry leader, or community leader. You may not be the most famous person in your field, but there are still people watching your example and affected by your decisions.
You don't need to influence everyone.
Be faithful with the people God has entrusted to you. Lead them well. Live in a way that points them toward God. And never underestimate what God can do through one person's faithfulness.

Your Work for God Matters More Than You Think — Romans 16:7
2026/09/29
You don't need a platform, recognition, or a well-known name for your work for Christ to matter. Junia's brief appearance in Romans gives us a powerful reminder.
Some of the people we know the least about in Scripture can still teach us something important about what it means to faithfully serve God.

In Romans 16:7, Paul introduces us to Junia alongside Andronicus. Although we are given only a brief glimpse of her life, we learn that she had shared imprisonment with Paul, was spoken of highly by him, and had become a follower of Christ before Paul himself.
Junia doesn't receive the biblical attention of Ruth, Esther, Deborah, or Mary. But that doesn't mean her contribution was insignificant.
And that gives us an important reminder for our lives today.
We can easily associate visibility with importance. We see the people with large platforms, audiences, titles, or public ministries and assume that their work must matter more.
But you don't need a platform to have a purpose.
Your prayers matter. Your service matters. Your encouragement matters. Your willingness to share Christ matters. Your obedience matters.
You may never have a large audience or receive much recognition for what you do for Christ. But God can use faithful people whether everyone knows their names or hardly anyone does.
Don't underestimate the part God has given you to play in sharing the gospel and serving His Kingdom.

Can You Really Start Again After Mistakes? — Ephesians 1:7-8; 1 Peter 5:10
2026/09/28
Can someone really be redeemed after a serious failure? Scripture shows us a God who is just, but also rich in grace, forgiveness, and restoration.
Can You Really Start Again After Mistakes? After the consequences have come, the humbling has happened, and they have suffered because of their choices—is redemption and restoration still possible?

Ephesians 1:7-8 reminds us that in Christ we have redemption and forgiveness through His blood according to the riches of God's grace.
There may still be consequences for our actions. Forgiveness does not necessarily erase every earthly consequence, and restoration does not always mean returning to exactly what existed before. But failure does not place someone beyond the reach of God's grace.
And 1 Peter 5:10 reminds us that after we have suffered for a little while, God Himself can restore us and make us strong, firm, and steadfast.
God is a God of justice, and He is also a God of grace. If God sees fit to forgive and redeem someone, we should be careful about deciding that their worst failure must permanently define them.
Whether you're struggling to believe that God can restore you after your own mistakes or struggling to extend grace to someone else, today's devotional is a reminder that redemption is at the very heart of the gospel.

What Does It Really Mean to Love God? —1 John; 1 John 5:3
2026/09/25
What does it actually mean to love God? Scripture gives us a surprisingly practical answer: our love for God is reflected in our willingness to follow Him.
What does it really mean to love God? Is loving God primarily about what we feel and say, or should that love also shape the way we live?

In 1 John 2:15, John tells believers not to love the world or the things of the world. After looking at the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life over the past few days, today's devotional brings us back to an important question: What does it mean to love God instead?
John gives us the answer later in the same letter. In 1 John 5:3, he explains that loving God means keeping His commandments.
Our obedience doesn't earn God's love, and following Christ does not mean we will live perfectly. But if we are serious about loving God, we should also be serious about knowing His Word, following His direction, and allowing what He says to shape how we live.
Loving God is more than something we say. Our love for Him becomes visible in the way we choose to follow Him.

God gives us gifts, talents, abilities, and resources. These blessings are meant to point us back to Him and be used for His glory.
But the pride of life reminds us that we must be careful not to find our identity, security, or value in the things God has given us instead of in God Himself.
Our accomplishments, possessions, status, and abilities can never provide what only God can give. When we build our identity on Him, we have a foundation that will never fail.

What Are Your Eyes Showing You? — 1 John 2:15-16 — September 23, 2026
2026/09/23

Our eyes are a gift from God. They allow us to experience beauty, appreciate creation, and recognize things we enjoy.
But Scripture reminds us that what we see can influence what we desire.
The lust of the eyes is not about simply seeing something or appreciating something beautiful. The issue comes when what we see begins to shape our hearts in ways that move us away from God’s will.
From Eve and the forbidden fruit, to Achan’s stolen treasure, to David and Bathsheba, Scripture shows us how what people saw influenced their choices.
God wants us to enjoy His gifts, but He also wants our desires to remain aligned with Him.

When Good Things Become Too Important — 1 John 2:15-16 — September 22, 2026
2026/09/22
Something doesn't have to be bad to become too important. Even God's good gifts can become disordered when we give them a place they were never meant to have.
In today's 5-Minute Daily Devotional, we reflect on 1 John 2:15-16 and take a closer look at what Scripture means by "the lust of the flesh."

When we hear "the lust of the flesh," we may immediately think of sexual temptation. But the idea is broader than that. It encompasses the desires and cravings of our physical existence when satisfying those desires becomes more important than honoring God.
God created food, rest, comfort, pleasure, recreation, and sexual intimacy within His design. Bodily pleasure itself is not inherently sinful.
The problem comes when a good desire becomes disordered—when enjoyment turns into indulgence, an appetite becomes too important, or satisfying ourselves takes priority over God's will.
Sometimes the question we need to ask isn't simply, "Is this wrong?" It's "Has this become too important?"
God's gifts are meant to be enjoyed with gratitude and wisdom while remaining in their proper place. In today's devotional, we're looking at how we can enjoy the good things God has given us without allowing those things to become more important than the Giver.

Have you ever wondered what heaven will be like? While Scripture only gives us a glimpse, it gives us enough to know that the future God has prepared for His people is beyond anything we can fully imagine.
Paul reminds us that our citizenship is in heaven and that Jesus will one day transform our bodies to be like His glorious body.
This hope does not mean we stop living fully today. God has given us purpose, relationships, and opportunities to experience His goodness here while we look forward to eternity with Him.
We can rejoice for those who have gone before us in Christ and look ahead with hope to the day we will join them.

Paul tells Timothy that prayers, petitions, intercession, and thanksgiving should be made for all people. Prayer is not reserved only for our own needs or the people closest to us—it is one of the ways we love others and participate in God's work.
Our prayers do not need to be long or complicated. What matters is that we continually bring people before the Lord and trust Him with their needs.
Who has God placed on your heart to pray for today?

Jesus teaches that the measure we use will be measured back to us. This principle applies not only to material things but also spiritually. When we honor God's Word, seek understanding, and apply it to our lives, we continue to grow.
But when we neglect Scripture or become indifferent to God's truth, we risk losing the spiritual growth and understanding we have been given.
God has entrusted us with His Word. Let's be faithful stewards of it.

The believers in Acts saw Saul of Tarsus as a threat. He persecuted Christians and seemed like an impossible problem. But God had a plan no one expected.
God didn't simply remove Saul—He transformed him into Paul, one of the greatest voices for spreading the gospel.
