Welcome to Playsongs Playtime, a joyous five minutes of guided interactive play with your baby or toddler. Each episode introduces one short playrhyme and one short playsong, and guides you through playing with them - right now in the moment - or tucked away and played again and again later. Our aim is to bring playsongs and playrhymes to life for you and your little one - so you can enjoy the participatory action to the full. Babies and toddlers have chuckled and laughed through action play with their grown ups since play began - and they learn so much from it - language development, physical development, bonding, communication and interaction. But best of all, it’s fun - a few moments of precious, total engagement just with you. Basing each episode on the much-loved Playsongs books and audio, presenter and author, Sheena Roberts, is joined by Playsongs People musicians, Sandra Kerr, Leon Rosselson, Janet Russell, Kevin Graal, Steve Grocott, Nancy Kerr, James Fagan, and Debbie Sanders who sing and play the songs with us. You’ll find peekaboo games, knee-bouncers, tickle rhymes, joyous lifts, sound explorers, and soothers - each one tried, tested and voted great by baby gurgles and toddler giggles. 30. Nighttime Hugs and Moontime Love

A winding down, gentle, rocking episode, perfect for a quiet moment of calm or to soothe baby into nighttime sleep with Hugs, rhymed by author, Kaye Umansky, and with Kevin Graal and Stephen Chadwick providing the soundscape. Then a tune you’ll very likely find very familiar, but have never heard sung as a lullaby - until Mummy Went up to the Moon and Back with Debbie Sanders singing and Steve Grocott accompanying. 29. Happy Nappy time with Bananas in Pyjamas

A happy, clappy chorus of celebration for a nice clean nappy - no tears or fuss with a rhyme like this for baby to look forward to. Our Happy Nappy celebration is rhymed by Kevin Graal, ably accompanied by the Nappy Chorus, and our Bananas in Pyjamas song will get baby cheerfully dressed for bed (or going out) in no time with Sandra Kerr and Leon Rosselson singing it and teaching you the words line by line. 28. Fly high with a crow and land on a donkey

High rise hoists are a joy for a baby, sturdy enough to support their head, and for a toddler - as long as you still have the strength to lift them above your head! So get ready for some energetic exercise with Catch him Crow rhymed by Leon Rosselson and a cascade of falling apples, and our Donkey Riding call and response, shanty song with Janet Russell, singing the calls, and Sandra Kerr, singing the responses - her concertina accompanying both - it’s Playsongs Playtime.

27. Knock at the Door and Look who comes here!

Sound exploring can be a noisy business, but we’re starting it very very quietly for your very very tiny baby as we gently play our rhyme Knock at the Door. But then, we open the door, and in come a noisy band singing Look who comes here to introduce a dolly, tapping on baby’s high chair, a caterwauling kitten, and a kazoo-croaking frog chorus. 26. Rig a jig jig and away we go

A couple of Silly Billies give us a daft little game of tangled feet when Bill Anderson and Tom Sim get into a tussle, which slides baby off your knee and onto the floor. Meantime we meet our friends in a happy little leg-walker which lifts off into a glorious high-lifting knee-bouncer, or babe-in-arms dance with Rig a jig jig and away we go. 25. Upside down with the fishes and the ducks

We’ve got two whole body upside downers for you and your baby or toddler to play with us. We’re catching fishes Underneath the Water, and playing heads down, tails up with the Dabbling Ducks.  Sandra Kerr and Leon Rosselson are the rhymers and singers in this episode full of dangling (safely) upside down - it’s Playsongs Playtime.

We're playing the universal game of peekaboo, a game that babies and toddlers, the world over, love to play. So hide your face behind your hands, and play our rhyme, Hide and Seek, and our all-time favourite peekboo song, Can you play at peekaboo?

21. A handful of magic and a body full of movement

2026/04/02

Celebrate your new baby's exploration of their hands with our playrhyme, Handy Pandy Sugar Candy, and dance them into whole-body awareness with our playsong, We Love Baby. These two, easily-memorised and engaging ways to play with your little one can be shared with them from their earliest days and throughout their journey from babyhood to toddlerhood.

16. Dance Off to the Park with Grandpa, and Go Round the Sun with Sally

We're going Off to the Park with Grandpa – dancing your baby or toddler all the way. And before you catch your breath, we'll whirl you both off again with Sally go Round the Sun. Hold hands with your toddler to support their free-styling footwork. Dandle a bigger baby on your knee, or dance with your baby supported against your shoulder, where they can feel the beat through you.  Parks, birthday picnics, and a bunch or friends are great for these two dances, but indoors is just as good for dancing them ~ so take your little partner in your arms and let’s dance in this episode of Playsongs Playtime.

15. Walk Tall and Fly High with One to Make Ready and Miss Mary Mac

Swing a toddler up and along with One to make ready. Or hold your toddler’s hand as they tight-rope their way along a wall with Miss Mary Mac. These two out-and-about leg walkers are especially good for reviving a tired toddler, but you can just as easily play them indoors with a baby on your knee. 14. Jelly on the Plate and One Two Three A-leary: Bounces, Tricks and Wobbles

We’ve borrowed two playground games, Jelly on the Plate, and One Two Three A-leary, to give you and your baby or toddler an episode brim full of knee-bouncing fun. The outdoor skipping and bouncing tricks we played as kids with these two games, turn themselves nicely into indoor thrills for your little one, bouncing on your knee. No skipping ropes required. 13. The daring ups and downs of Five Little Froggies and a flight of Bumblebees

Roll up, roll up with your baby or toddler for a thrill-filled five minutes of ups and downs and flying around in this episode of Playsongs Playtime. Our playrhyme, Bumblebees, has your little one flying up in the breeze, and our playsong, Five Little Froggies, has them perilously leaping high and low, to and fro. Lots of up and down actions and lifts with up and down words and sounds. 12. Say Hello to Tommy Thumb

Hands up! We’ve got five people to introduce to you and your baby or toddler with our playrhyme, Tommy Thumb. It’s a very old fingerplay with a very big handful of play-learning to offer - it’s about having a conversation, it’s about taking turns, it’s about saying hello, it’s about finger awareness, and as your little one grows, it’s about developing finger dexterity and coordination. And we'd also like to introduce you to our playsong, Say Hello, which can turn its hand to beeping noses, patting knees, and tapping toes, being a mouse, a cat…. Oh - and it can wave, and say, Hello! Endless possibilities for action play with your little one. No props needed – just hands, and five minutes free for interactive fun.

11. A Teddy, a Snail and a Mouse, and a Search for Tickles

Get ready for giggles and gentle play! The first episode of our second series begins with the beloved classic Round and Round the Garden – a tickling game that's been delighting babies and toddlers since teddies began. Watch your little one's face light up as the anticipation builds with each circle around their palm before that magical tickle moment arrives! Then we'll slow things down (and speed things up!) with Slowly Slowly Quickly Quickly, featuring a creeping snail's gentle journey that transforms into a playful mouse's scampering tickles. These simple interactive games are perfect for developing your child's sense of rhythm and anticipation, and for bringing an extra sparkle to those precious moments of quality time together. No props needed – just your hands and a ready smile.
