Can You Be Saved Without Knowing Jesus? | Camden Bucey
2026/10/15
In this episode of Certainty4Eternity, Mark Gilbert and Camden Bucey explore the theology of Karl Rahner, the Catholic idea of the “anonymous Christian,” and the way Roman Catholicism understands unity between Catholics, Protestants and the wider world.
Camden explains the Catholic inclusivist approach to salvation: the belief that salvation is ultimately through Jesus Christ, while a person may be saved without explicitly knowing or understanding that they are responding to Christ. He explains how this connects with Rahner's idea of the anonymous Christian.
Mark and Camden then explore a bigger question: What does the Catholic Church mean by Christian unity? They discuss the idea of the Roman Catholic Church as a “sacrament of unity for the world,” and what this means for the way Catholicism understands its relationship with Protestants, Muslims, Jews and others.
They also discuss Vatican II, Karl Rahner's influence, the relationship between the Catholic Church and salvation, and why Mark believes Biblical Christian unity is ultimately unity in truth and the Spirit, rather than simply institutional unity.

I Met the Pope... Before Hearing the Gospel for the First Time
2026/06/30
Many Roman Catholics first encounter the biblical gospel at university. Why?
In this episode, Mark shares his remarkable story of meeting the Pope as a committed Roman Catholic before arriving at university where a simple conversation with Protestant Christians led him to hear the gospel for the very first time.
Together we explore why university campuses create unique opportunities for Christians to have meaningful conversations with Catholic friends, how to navigate differences in language and belief, and why long-term friendships often become the context where lives are changed.
We're also joined by Natalia Reed, who with experience across Chile, Spain and Germany, shares her experience of speaking with Roman Catholics across Europe and the unique challenges Christians face in predominantly Catholic cultures.
Whether you're a university student, part of a campus ministry, or simply want to share Jesus more clearly with Catholic friends and family, this conversation is packed with practical encouragement and real-life experience.

Do Miracles Prove Catholic Doctrine?
2026/06/23
Do miracles prove Catholic doctrine? Can Marian apparitions, Eucharistic miracles, and claims of healing be trusted as evidence of truth? And how should Christians think about extraordinary experiences that seem impossible to explain?
In this episode of Certainty for Eternity, Mark and Rayne explore how miracles function within Roman Catholic theology and compare that with the biblical understanding of faith, revelation, and the role of signs and wonders.
They discuss Thomas Aquinas' definition of miracles, Marian apparitions such as Lourdes and Fatima, miracles associated with saints, answered prayer, and why Protestants and Catholics often interpret miraculous events very differently.
Most importantly, they ask a foundational question:
👉 What should Christians ultimately trust: miracles, experiences, church authority, or Jesus Christ revealed in Scripture?
Whether you've experienced something you can't explain, have Catholic friends who point to miracles as evidence for their beliefs, or simply want to understand this topic more deeply, this conversation will help you think biblically about miracles and faith.

How Christians Can Share Jesus Through Sport
2026/06/05
Sport might be one of the most overlooked opportunities Christians have to build genuine relationships and talk about Jesus.
In this episode of Certainty4Eternity, Mark and Rayne explore why sporting communities often create surprisingly open conversations about faith -especially with people from Catholic backgrounds. From CrossFit gyms to surf clubs, rugby teams and local sporting communities, they discuss how integrity, belonging, community and long-term relationships can point people toward Christ.
They’re also joined by Peter from 360 Sports / Fellowship of Christian Athletes Australia, who shares powerful stories of discipleship, sport ministry, and how God is using sporting environments to reach people with the gospel.
Whether you play competitive sport, coach a team, watch from the sidelines, or simply want to live openly as a Christian in everyday life, this conversation will encourage you to think differently about mission, friendship and faithful presence.
