Night Shifts, Podcasting & a Seahawks Defeat! Cody is on the show!
2026/10/21
EPISODE 70: STILL UP SPORTS & CCSC COLLAB — IS JSN THE GOAT? Seventy episodes in and we’re still talking absolute Codswollop. Some things never change. This week, BC sits down with Cody from Still Up Sports for an NFL-filled special, as we discuss all things football, podcasting, and the highs, lows and occasional existential crises that come with trying to make a podcast work. Unfortunately, BC is still coming to terms with the Seahawks being beaten by Cody’s Broncos. A result that has left him questioning life, football, and possibly the entire state of Colorado. Cody, naturally, is handling it with all the humility you’d expect from a Broncos fan who’s just beaten BC’s beloved Seahawks. We also chat about our journeys into podcasting, the trials and tribulations along the way, and why we keep turning up every week despite the questionable decisions, technical mishaps and questionable opinions. Meanwhile, Cody is absolutely smashing it over in America, taking on the night shift and giving the late-night crowd somewhere to talk NFL when sensible people should probably be asleep. A brilliant chat with a top bloke, plenty of laughs, and a question that needs answering: Is JSN the GOAT? Episode 70. What a show. Sponsored by Kiwi Card Collective and Swopsies. 2026/10/16
EPISODE 69: A MEAL FOR TWO, 69! Card Crazy Breaking news. Get your minds out of the gutter… although, let’s be honest, you clicked on Episode 69. BC & MC are BACK TOGETHER in MC’s studio for another absolute belter of a show. And blimey, have we got a lot to get through! 🚨 🚨 BREAKING NEWS FROM CARD CRAZY! 🚨 We’ve got a HUGE announcement from Card Crazy. We could tell you what it is… but then you’d have no reason to listen, would you? 👀 Trust us, you’re going to want to hear this one! NFL CHAT: ONE HAPPY, ONE MISERABLE! The Seahawks take another L, while the Packers get the job done. Guess which host is smiling and which one needs a lie down? A DEAL HAS BEEN DONE! BC & MC have struck a huge deal, involving a Jaxon Smith-Njigba numbered to just 5! A genuine worldie. But who’s come out on top? And will this deal strengthen the friendship or end the podcast forever? MC’S MAIL DAY GOES OFF! An incredible mail day for MC. Some absolute beauties have landed, and the cardboard gods have clearly decided he’s been a good boy. For once. 🇩🇪 BERLIN CARD SHOW: “WHAT A DAY!” BC reflects on the Berlin Card Show alongside the legendary Card Geezer. After all the anticipation, effort and expectation, one phrase summed up the entire experience: “WHAT A DAY!” Four words. Infinite wisdom. An interview for the ages. All this, plus hobby chat, cards, questionable decisions and the usual Coom & Currie nonsense. 🎧 Episode 69 is HERE. Give it a listen, tell your mates, and let us know who won the deal! FOLLOW THE BOYS for more sports cards, NFL chat, hobby news, questionable humour and the occasional moment of actual professionalism. It's not goodbye, it's Bonjour! Topps NFL Flagship London Exclusive!
2026/10/08
It’s not goodbye… it’s Bonjour! And Episode 68 is absolutely stacked. BC & MC are back, and this time there’s NFL Flagship, free boxes, card shows, Funko Pops and one man who continues to completely ignore a perfectly reasonable callout. We kick things off with the Topps NFL Flagship Exclusive product. Superb. Absolutely superb. MC has also somehow managed to win himself a box directly from Fanatics, because apparently the hobby gods have chosen favourites. We look back on what was an incredible Kent Card Show, where CCSC made their debut as creators. And because one card show clearly wasn’t enough, the boys also squeezed in a sneaky trip to the Fanatics Store in London. But there’s one noticeable absence… Card Geezer. He’s been called out. He’s been summoned. He has not responded. Will he finally show his face after the Berlin Card Show? Only time will tell. Elsewhere, Elise Peet has curated this month’s CCSC Playlist, and quite frankly, the girl has delivered. Incredible footballer. Incredible playlist. We’re beginning to question whether BC actually knows anything about music. Coom also compares the card show scenes in New Zealand and England, before the boys look ahead to Berlin and wonder exactly what Germany is going to bring to the table. The Mail Day was HOT for both BC & MC… although BC once again manages to disgrace himself by unboxing not one, but TWO Funko Pops. We cannot keep defending this behaviour. Plus NFL reflections, plenty of laughs, hobby chat, more Codswollop and the usual CCSC nonsense. Episode 68 is out now. Follow the boys for the sports cards. It’s not goodbye… it’s Bonjour! Piero is BACK! A surprise Grail, A Surprise Guest & lots of Codswollop!
2026/10/01
A surprise grail, a surprise guest, a surprise celebrity moment… and somehow it’s still only Episode 67. BC & MC are back, and this one has a bit of everything. We kick things off with a little football chat as the boys discuss Man City’s recent guilty verdict before getting stuck into the important stuff… MAIL DAYS. BC adds even more Resurgence cards to the collection, while MC finally gets his hands on a Steven Gerrard game-used LA Galaxy card. But then, completely unexpectedly, MC drops a surprise grail on BC LIVE in the studio. And the grail? A Phil Babb auto. Incredible scenes. Dreams really do come true. Coom then launches into a full-scale rant about the extended international break. Is it football? Is it hobby-related? Does it matter? Absolutely not. It’s Codswollop and BC has had enough. Then, in true CCSC fashion, we’re joined by Piero from Swopsies. It’s an impromptu, late-notice appearance, but Piero steps up and fills us in on how things have been going at Swopsies. Could another integration be on the horizon? We also dive into the wonderfully strange world of PC chases. The cards we’re hunting, the players we probably shouldn’t be hunting, and the completely irrational reasons we decide we NEED a particular card. And speaking of Piero… he has his very own celebrity moment after getting recognised at Hobby Con in Auckland. Yes. Piero. Recognised. In public. The boys also announce that they’re heading to the Kent Card Show this Saturday as official creators, so expect plenty of CCSC nonsense from the show floor. Mail days. Grails. Football. PC chases. Swopsies. Phil Babb. Celebrity Piero. And an unhealthy amount of Codswollop. Episode 67 is ready. Follow the boys for the sports cards. 'I ain't getting on no plane!' The Champs are back! Mail day is HUGE
2026/09/24
Two Tag Team Champions. One county. Absolutely no chance of a peaceful podcast. BC & MC are back for Episode 66, and for only the second time in the entire history of CCSC, the boys are in the same county. Naturally, within minutes they’re arguing over who gets to be BA Baracus. “I ain’t getting on no plane!” “Shut up, fool!” We kick things off with a BIG UK mail day from BC, before looking ahead to a massive month for CCSC. Worthing Card Show, Kent Card Show and Berlin Card Show are all on the calendar, and the boys have even been invited along as content creators at the Kent Card Show. Not bad for two blokes who are still figuring out what they’re doing. BC then gets serious. Sort of. He talks through five mistakes he’s made in the hobby, what he’s learned along the way and, hopefully, how his mistakes might stop someone else making the same ones. Because at the end of the day, we want to see the hobby grow. MC adds yet another autograph to his Liverpool 2005 Champions League winking squad. But who has joined the collection this time? Plus Topps Flagship updates, hobby chat, plenty of laughs, Codswollop, mail days, more love for Resurgence and the continuing miracle that BC has managed to resist buying into any breaks. Basically, Episode 66 has got everything. Follow the boys for the sports cards, stay for the arguments. #sportscards #tradingcards #podcast Takeaways Collecting MistakesCard Show Announcement Card shows and eventsHobby community and engagement NFL match analysisPremier League update Chapters 00:00 Episode 66: The A Team Reunion02:03 Mail Day and Collecting Mistakes13:03 Learning from Collecting Mistakes23:11 Card Show Announcement28:03 Upcoming Card Shows and Events29:30 KCC Update and Hobby Community Engagement46:23 Flagship Updates and Hobby Engagement56:24 NFL Match Analysis01:09:06 Premier League Update
BC has been left unsupervised & is on the way to the Berlin Card Show!
2026/09/17
EPISODE 65 — BC HAS BEEN LEFT UNSUPERVISED. MC has abandoned the ship, so BC is flying solo and, frankly, nobody knows how this is going to end. BC is officially on his way to the BERLIN CARD SHOW, with plenty of chaos, cardboard and questionable decisions on the horizon. And the best news? There are LOTS of Quality episodes coming your way, featuring BC AND MC together… in the SAME COUNTRY. Yes. You read that correctly. Two hosts. One country. Potentially zero professionalism. BC also announces that Card Geezer is being FORCED onto the podcast. The time has come. There will be no escape. The negotiations are over. The contract is imaginary, but the threat is very real. We also get stuck into NFL Week One: The Seahawks grind out a win. The Packers suffer defeat at the Vikings. The Giants win. The Jets win. Yes… you read that correctly too. And then things get weird. No Codswollop. No Mail Day. Nothing. Have we run out of cards? Has MC taken the Mail Day hostage? Has Codswollop finally been cancelled by the authorities? Nobody knows. What we do know is that BC is heading to Berlin, the boys will soon be reunited, Card Geezer is being dragged into the podcast whether he likes it or not, and there is A LOT of sports card content coming your way. Strap yourselves in. Episode 65 is live. NFL is BACK! BC Gets emotional & MC has fallen in LOVE.. The boys are back in Town!
2026/09/11
EPISODE 64: THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN BC and MC are back in the studio, which means the podcast has once again become legally questionable. The boys are reunited, BC is ranting again, and the NFL is back. The Seahawks scraped a win on opening day, proving that victory does not always need to be comfortable, convincing, or remotely good for your blood pressure. We dive into vintage cards and ask the question nobody seems brave enough to answer: can we get some proper EPL vintage cards? Football history, cardboard nostalgia, and probably several opinions nobody requested. Then comes the bad news. Fanatics on Regent Street has been broken into. How does this keep happening? What can be done to stop it? And is this becoming one of the biggest problems facing the hobby? MC also falls completely and hopelessly in love with Resurgence after pulling a massive yellow Ray Wave numbered to just 50. Bosh. Romance is alive, and apparently it is refractor-shaped. We are joined (Sort of) by former All Black Scott Waldrom, who explains the biggest difference between stepping up from grassroots sport to the professional game, all while ripping packs. Because apparently that is now considered a normal interview format. BC reveals that he is, in fact, Derek, and opens up about how difficult things have been following the termination of his contract at his former club. It hurts. It is honest. It is emotional. It is also somehow surrounded by trading cards and nonsense. Plus, there is Codswollop, Mail Day, plenty of laughs, another Forest Gump quote, and the usual level of chaos that has somehow kept this podcast alive for 64 episodes. Like, comment, share and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. We need your support to grow the pod. You are legends. Follow the Boys for the Sports Cards! No Coom, No Problem! MC goes solo!
2026/09/04
EP63: One Man, No Coom The Tag Team Champions have been reduced to one. With BC off refereeing a football tournament somewhere in New Zealand — and, importantly, his leave was fully approved — MC is left to steady the ship, man the controls and somehow keep the podcast from completely falling apart. It’s a solo deep dive into all things sports cards, including the latest instalment of Codswollop, a chunky Mailday, some serious eBay chat and a trip down memory lane with some Liverpool memories. No BC. No excuses. No adult supervision. Just MC, a microphone and the terrifying realisation that he can’t blame anyone else when it all goes wrong. Laughs, Cards. A special guest. A promo code & the beginning of Del Piero’s podcasting career.
2026/08/27
EPISODE 62 IS HERE… and we’ve somehow managed to get even less professional. This week, we’re joined by a very special guest: Piero from Swopsies! Or, as he’ll forever be known on this podcast… Del Piero. Sorry Piero, you walked straight into that one. Piero joins the boys to share his sports card collecting journey, the story behind why he created Swopsies, and drops some BIG news about an exciting collaboration. You’ll have to listen to find out what it is — because we’re not giving everything away for free around here. Speaking of free-ish things, Piero has also hooked our listeners up with an exclusive promo code. Use CCPOD and get involved. Honestly, we’d use it ourselves if we were allowed. Elsewhere, BC semi-calls out PCG. Let’s be absolutely clear: BC LOVES PCG. He just also loves receiving emails back. Come on, lads. It takes two seconds. We also debut a brand-new feature, “Give Us Your Stats”, dive headfirst into plenty of Topps Flagship chat, and somehow find ourselves surrounded by rogue Forrest Gump and Frank Sinatra quotes. Standard behaviour, really. Lots of laughs. Lots of cards. A special guest. A promo code. And potentially the beginning of Del Piero’s podcasting career. What a show. As always, follow the boys for the sports cards and join us for another episode of Coom & Currie Sports Cards — where the hobby chat is strong and the professionalism is very much optional. Auckland Card Show, Seahawks & Packers predictions & Flagship football is here! Let that permeate.
2026/08/20
Just the two of us. No guests. No excuses. Just two men bravely pretending this is an “admin episode” while discussing some of the most important issues facing the hobby… and absolutely none of them will be solved. We’re predicting the Seahawks and Packers wins and losses for the season, because apparently we’re now qualified NFL analysts. Then we tackle the big question: who are the biggest football clubs in the UK? Expect absolutely no bias whatsoever. Topps Flagship Football drops this week, and BC already has his eyes on the prize: a triple auto featuring JSN, Darnold and Kupp. Sensible? Absolutely not. Will he try to get one? Obviously. There’s mail day, the return of Codswollop, and another deep dive into the never-ending question of how we actually make the sports card hobby sustainable. And the big one… THE AUCKLAND CARD SHOW. We talk about the show, the hobby, the community and where things go from here. As ever, 'follow the boys for the Sports Cards.' Coom & Currie Sports Cards. A former All Black & current sports card enabler joins the show & MC disappears, will he come back?
2026/08/13
Episode 60 is here, and we’ve landed a guest with a pretty decent rugby CV. Former Hurricane and former All Black Scott Waldrom joins us for a brilliant chat about his rugby journey, life after the game, his jersey shop, and how he ended up falling down the sports card rabbit hole. We also try to establish the only question that really matters… has Scott officially chosen Coom & Currie Sports Cards over Top Play? We’ll let you be the judge. Elsewhere in the episode: * Codswollop makes its usual appearance. * Mail Day delivers an unexpected Paul Ifill Wellington Phoenix card for BC. * MC’s technology does its best to cancel the podcast, but this train isn’t stopping anytime soon. * BC is gearing up for the Auckland Card Show, with plenty of content on the way. * MC shares his thoughts on the new Topps EPL Flagship release. A great guest, plenty of laughs, the usual chaos, and somehow we still stay on topic… occasionally. Get it in your ears. We LOVE a day at the Seaside. Andy is back, for his fourth Cap. Topps EPL is back.
2026/08/10
Episode 59 is here… and somehow, it’s one of our most professional episodes yet. Andy from Seaside Sports Cards earns his fourth cap for Coom & Currie, proving once again that he either loves the hobby… or just enjoys watching us struggle with technology. This week we’re talking all things Topps Premier League Flagship. MC and Andy are absolutely obsessed, while Coom eventually joins after somehow getting defeated by… a world clock. Speaking of professionalism, we hit a few technical issues during the recording. Thankfully Andy stepped in, calmly navigated the chaos, and basically became the producer. He handled it so well that we couldn’t bring ourselves to edit any of it out. It’s a masterclass. We also chat about Andy’s experience as a vendor at the Brighton Card Show, dive into everyone’s latest mail days, and, of course, deliver another instalment of Codswollop. Stick around after the credits too, because the Card Crazy giveaway winner is decided in the only sensible way possible… a duck race. Late arrivals. Technical disasters. Football cards. Mail days. Baza is at the controls! An Un-expected Hat-trick Ball & One hell of a 'Deep & Meaningful'
2026/08/07
Episode 58 is here… and we’ve finally let Baza Collects Cards get his hands on the controls. At this point we’re pretty sure he’s got his own parking spot. This week we dive headfirst into the New Zealand sports card scene, chatting about where the hobby is heading and how we can all help make it even better. It’s one of our more thoughtful conversations… don’t worry, we still manage to go off on plenty of tangents. We also count down our Top 5 most fun products to rip, and it turns out we’re both absolute suckers for huge colour, ridiculous eye appeal, and cards that make you instantly forget what your bank balance looked like five minutes earlier. Of course, we had to talk about Topps Resurgence. Safe to say… we’re completely sold. If you like shiny cards with serious wow factor, this one is worth a look. There are plenty of deep and meaningful moments throughout the episode, while Baza officially picks up his hat-trick ball after yet another appearance on the podcast. At this rate we’re going to have to start paying him… in base cards. A massive thank you to our sponsor, Kiwi Card Collective, for continuing to support everything we do. We also give plenty of credit to Blunt Collections for the way they conduct themselves in the hobby, and chat about some exciting new ventures happening in New Zealand, including Brock Nash’s Card Syndicate and Nijesh’s Card Reserve NZ. Whether you’re ripping boxes, chasing grails, or just here for the questionable takes and terrible financial decisions, Episode 58 has something for everyone. Enjoy the show! Baza is BACK! BC gets emotional & a Funko gets Sacrificed!
2026/07/30
EP57 – BAZA IS BACK! Friend of the pod and now officially a two-time guest, Baza Collects returns to Coom & Currie Sports Cards. Baza takes us across the pond as he tells us all about his trip to the West Coast Card Show in the States — the cards, the experience and, most importantly, getting to share it all with his boys. It all gets a bit wholesome for a sports card podcast, as Baza manages to make BC genuinely emotional talking about just how special that time together was. We weren’t prepared for feelings. We apologise. Normal service is quickly resumed when BC makes the frankly outrageous decision to OPEN A FUNKO POP AND REMOVE IT FROM ITS BOX. MC can only sit and watch in absolute horror as thousands of collectors simultaneously sense a disturbance in the force. We also get into what actually makes sports cards so special to us. Is it the cards? The chase? The nostalgia? The community? Or just an elaborate excuse for grown men to spend money on shiny cardboard? MC shares his card show strategy, and naturally step one is to get yourself properly hydrated. A lager is preferable. In BC’s case, a nice Pilsner. Holsten Pils if you want that added hit of nostalgia before making financially questionable decisions at a dealer’s table. Plus all the usual favourites: Mail Day Codswollop And introducing our NEW feature — TOP OF THE POPS. Each week we’ll reveal the five most-listened-to Coom & Currie episodes and see who’s climbing the charts. Last week’s episode went STRAIGHT IN AT NUMBER TWO. But the big question… Where will Baza’s second appearance rank? Lots of laughs. Great card chat. A little bit of emotion. Questionable card show drinking strategies. And the brutal unboxing of an innocent Funko Pop. It’s EP57. Get it in your ears. The man, the myth, the legend. Card Crazy Debuts.
2026/07/24
Episode 56 of the Coom & Currie Sports Cards Podcast is here! The man. The myth. The legend. Matt Brown from Card Crazy makes his long-awaited debut on the pod. We get the inside scoop on what it’s really like running New Zealand’s biggest card shop, find out what Matt actually collects when he’s not surrounded by cardboard all day, and most importantly, put him on the spot for his very own Card Shop Codswollop. Matt and the team at Card Crazy have also very generously sorted us out with some top-quality giveaway products for our New Zealand-based listeners. Listen in to find out what’s up for grabs and how you can get involved. Elsewhere, MC has been under the weather, while BC is fit, firing and absolutely raring to talk nonsense. With the NFL season fast approaching, we get stuck into the Packers and Seahawks, who are both obviously looking incredibly strong depending entirely on which host you ask. We also look ahead to the Seahawks making their debut on School of Hard Knocks — something BC will no doubt remain completely calm and unbiased about. There’s also World Cup Final chat, plus all the usual nonsense, including: Mail Day Codswollop A huge episode with a brilliant guest, giveaways, NFL chat, cards and the usual amount of questionable opinions. Episode 56. Get it in your ears.
