Guard Your Heart: Perspective, Purpose, and Power
2026/10/29
What if the biggest thing steering your life isn’t your schedule, your past, or your personality, but your core beliefs? We start with a simple, searching question: what’s guiding your experience of life right now. From there, we anchor everything in Proverbs 4:23, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life,” and get clear on what the Bible means by “heart” as your inner being where thoughts, decisions, and beliefs take root. Because we’re one with Christ by grace through faith, we don’t stay stuck with an old framework. We talk through the shift into God’s perspective and a new identity, using 2 Corinthians 5:17 to name what’s true: you are a new creation. That lens changes how you interpret your story, how you see your future, and how you reach for the abundant life Jesus promises, both for today and for eternity. We also explore purpose in a grounded, practical way. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us we’re God’s workmanship, created for good works prepared ahead of time, and Jeremiah 29:11 points to hope and a future. Purpose isn’t a mystery you have to fear; it’s a direction that glorifies God, adds value, and reveals His character through everyday choices. Finally, we lean into the power of God living in you, the resurrection power that meets you in weakness, helps you break habits, and gives you courage to speak up and stand firm. If you want a faith based reset for your mind and heart, listen now, then subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review. What belief do you need to challenge this week? Hope and Healing While Navigating Cancer and Other Life Wounds| Teresa Hargrove, MA
2026/10/22
Isolation can feel like the responsible thing to do when life gets heavy, but it often becomes the place where fear grows the fastest. We sit down with Teresa Hargrove, a clinical mental health therapist who integrates clinical skills with spiritual application, to talk about what “brokenness” really looks like and why support, worship, and honest grief are not optional when you’re trying to heal. Teresa shares what she sees most in her counseling work: grief after losing loved ones, long-term marriages ending in divorce, childhood trauma, father absence, neglect, and the lingering impact of major health crises. Then she opens up about her own diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer, the shock that came with it, and the mindset shift that kept her anchored, not pretending everything was fine, but refusing to stay stuck in despair. We talk about how to pray when you’re angry, how to grieve in a healthy way, and how to recognize when “being strong” is really just silence. You’ll also hear practical faith-based tools: worship as a daily practice, filling your environment with reminders of truth, asking for help, choosing the right people, and setting firm boundaries with voices that bring fear or shame. We dig into how illness affects marriages and families, why caregivers need support too, and a biblical story that reframes rejection and “surprise” as evidence that God is still working behind the scenes. If you’re walking through cancer, loss, divorce, or any season that makes you want to disappear, let this be a reminder that you don’t have to do it alone. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a review so more women can find Whole Heart Conversations. Healing Emotional Wounds with God's Love| Gwendolyn Miller, LPC
2026/10/15
You can believe God loves you and still live like He might change His mind tomorrow. That gap between what we know and what we can actually receive is where so many women get stuck and it’s exactly where this conversation goes, with honesty and real tools you can use right away. We sit down with Gwendolyn Miller, a pastoral counselor and licensed professional counselor, to talk about healing that’s both spiritual and emotional. We dig into why core beliefs like “I’m not good enough” or “I’m not lovable” quietly drive anxiety, codependency, people pleasing, and spiritual striving. Gwendolyn explains how she helps clients identify the belief under the behavior, then confront it with truth using a blend of Christian counseling, evidence-based modalities, plus Scripture that speaks to identity in Christ. One of the most powerful practices she shares is reading scripture and putting your own name into the passage. If you’ve ever had a hard relationship with your father, struggled to trust promises, or felt like God’s love is conditional, this moment will meet you right where you are. We also talk mindfulness from a Christian lens: awareness, acceptance without judgment, breathwork, centering prayer, and meditating on a single verse until it “marinates” in your soul. You’ll leave with practical steps like index cards that pair negative self-talk with Bible truth, spoken affirmations, journaling, mindful walks, and the simple discipline of being still with God. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find WholeHeart Conversations. Three Faith Steps To Navigate Life's Storms
2026/10/01
A storm can show up fast: one phone call, one report, one argument, one unexpected expense, and suddenly your heart is racing and your mind is spiraling. We go straight to Mark 4:35–41 where the disciples are sure they are going under while Jesus is right there in the boat. When they cry out, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are going to drown?” Jesus speaks to the wind and waves, then asks a question that still hits home: “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” We unpack what that moment means for real life and for Christian women who want to grow spiritually and heal emotionally without pretending hard things are not hard. We talk about how fear tries to dominate your thoughts, how the Holy Spirit brings God’s Word back to your memory, and why it matters to replace anxious self-talk with specific promises from Scripture. You will hear key verses like 2 Timothy 1:7, Romans 8:11, 1 John 4:4, Ephesians 3:20, and Luke 1:37 woven into a simple plan you can use the next time pressure hits. You will also get three clear steps to navigate life’s storms: remember God is with you and in you, receive God’s Word through quiet and Scripture, and respond like Jesus by speaking in faith. We close with prayer and practical encouragement to speak God’s promises, pray with belief, and praise your way into peace that steadies the mind. If this strengthens you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find Whole Heart Conversations. Stop Minimizing The Good
2026/09/24
Compliments land and you instantly swat them away: “It was nothing.” “I just got lucky.” “Anybody could’ve done that.” That reflex can feel like humility, but it often reveals something deeper: discounting the positive, a cognitive distortion that trains your mind to reject good evidence about your growth, your resilience, and God’s work in your life.  We talk honestly about how this thinking pattern impacts mental health, spiritual maturity, and relationships. When you continually minimize progress and explain away answered prayer, your self-image can get warped, and that distortion can bleed into your view of God. Instead of intimacy, you may drift into shame driven faith, always feeling behind, never enough, reading Scripture through condemnation, and praying like you’re always apologizing instead of connecting with a loving Father. We also name how the same filter can affect marriage, friendships, and church community when you fixate on what’s missing and overlook steady love and support.  Then we get practical. We share four clear steps rooted in Christian faith and cognitive behavioral skills: notice discounting words like “just” and “but,” ask “what is the evidence,” learn to give God credit without erasing your role, and practice receiving with a simple “thank you.” If you want to renew your mind, stop minimizing your growth, and learn truthful thinking that honors God, press play, then subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find Wholeheart Conversations. * This Podcast is for educational purposes only and does not replace professional therapy or medical advice. Stones Of Remembrance
2026/09/17
Your mind is loud, life is messy, and stress does not wait for a convenient time. We talk through a practical way to steady yourself when emotions spike: building a therapeutic toolkit of coping strategies you can actually use between hard moments and hard days. That toolkit can be as simple as deep breathing, journaling, gratitude, calming music, sensory anchors, or keeping meaningful reminders close, all aimed at helping you ground in the present and shift your mental state with intention.  Then we take it deeper with a powerful biblical practice that works like a spiritual strategy for resilience: Stones of Remembrance. We walk through Joshua 4 and the purpose of a lasting memorial, not as religious symbolism, but as a repeatable way to keep your heart anchored in what God has already done. We ask the real questions: Are we noticing God at work, and what “visual reminders” help us remember His faithfulness when we feel discouraged or overwhelmed?  We also share a real-life challenge, a roof hail-damage claim that gets closed quickly, and the temptation to pick a villain. Instead, we practice looking for the spiritual application, remembering we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood, and choosing to rest in the truth that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If you want Christian encouragement, emotional healing, and practical steps for spiritual resilience, this conversation will meet you right where you are. Love Asks The Hard Question: Suicide Awareness
2026/09/10
Most of us want to help when someone is hurting, but we freeze when the pain gets serious. Today we speak directly to a fear many Christian women carry quietly: suicidal thoughts can exist alongside real faith, real prayer, and real love for God. I share why a Christian identity does not make anyone immune to depression, trauma, grief, anxiety, or hopelessness, and why telling the truth about where you are can be the first step toward wholeness. We walk through what to notice when something changes in a friend, spouse, family member, or church sister: withdrawal, missed calls, sudden quietness, big mood shifts, and phrases like “I can’t do this anymore” or “Everyone would be better off without me.” Then we get practical about suicide warning signs and what love looks like in real time, including one bold question that can open a life-saving conversation: “Are you thinking about suicide?” We also address a common myth with research-backed clarity: asking directly does not plant the idea or make things worse. If someone says yes, you will hear simple next steps that protect dignity and safety: stay calm, listen, do not shame, do not rush to lecture, and help them connect to support. We cover the five action steps recommended by the National Institute of Mental Health and what to do in urgent situations, including calling 911 in the United States or calling or texting 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. If you are the “strong one” who is exhausted behind the scenes, this is your reminder that getting help is not failure. Subscribe, share this with someone you love, and leave a review so more women find support when it matters most. Abundant Life Starts Within
2026/09/03
Most of us can name what we want in one word, happiness, peace, freedom, balance, confidence, but living it is another story. We open with research on what people say they desperately desire, then ask the question that matters: is that longing actually obtainable, or are we stuck chasing it forever? From a Christian women’s perspective, we take that desire straight to Scripture and to Jesus’ promise of abundant life in John 10:10. We talk about what “abundance” really means, why it’s not reserved for a select few, and how God’s plans include hope and a future. We also get practical by using the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5 as a real-life mirror: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If those are the very things people crave, what changes when we believe they’re already present in Christ? Then we slow down and get honest about the gap between what we have spiritually and what we experience emotionally. We walk through Jesus’ words about truth and freedom in John 8, his identity as the way, the truth, and the life in John 14, and his prayer in John 17 that our joy would be made full. From there, we connect the spiritual to the everyday: calmer relationships, less fear and anxiety, clearer decisions, and a shift from striving to resting. We end with a simple weekly prayer from Psalm 37:4 and an invitation to spend intentional time with God so your desires can be shaped by his presence. I know the Truth, So Why Am I Still Living From the Lie?
2026/08/27
If you’ve ever stared at your life and thought, “I’m saved… so why do I still feel like the old me?” you’re not alone. We meet that honest question head-on and talk about why the same emotional patterns, self-defeating thoughts, and familiar behaviors can stick around even when your faith is real and your love for Jesus is sincere.  We unpack a life-changing distinction for Christian growth: at salvation your spirit is made brand new and the Holy Spirit truly lives in you, but your soul, including your mind and emotions, often needs time and attention to catch up. Using Romans 12:2, we describe renewing your mind as a process, not a quick fix, and we explore why you can know truth intellectually while still struggling to feel it emotionally.  From there we get practical with 2 Corinthians 10:5: taking every thought captive. We walk through how to examine your inner dialogue, identify the lie underneath statements like “I’m not enough” or “I’m unlovable,” and replace that lie with what God actually says. We also highlight the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth (John 14:16–17) and how Bible reading becomes transformational when you approach Scripture like a mirror that reflects your identity in Christ.  Ready for a simple next step? Choose one lie, find one verse that contradicts it, and practice answering the lie with truth all week. I Know What God's Word Says- So Why Don't I Feel It?
2026/08/20
You can know the Bible is true and still feel anxious, insecure, lonely, or stuck in self-doubt. That disconnect can make you wonder what’s wrong with you, or whether you have “enough faith.” We get honest about that gap and why it’s more common than you think, especially for Christian women who feel pressure to be fine when their inner world is anything but. We talk about why emotions are real and God-created, and why expressing them doesn’t make you spiritually weak. Jesus wept. David poured out fear, grief, and confusion in the Psalms while still turning toward God. That’s the model: we don’t pretend we don’t feel, we bring what we feel into God’s presence and ask a better question: “God, this is what I feel, but what is true?” From Proverbs 3:5–6, we unpack how feelings can quietly become our “own understanding,” pushing us into assumptions like “I feel afraid, so danger must be coming,” or “I feel unworthy, so I must not matter.” We also lean into the practical help God gives through the Holy Spirit, the Helper and Spirit of Truth who reminds us of Scripture and guides our next steps. You’ll learn a simple four-step strategy to use in the moment: name the emotion, notice the narrative, bring it to God for wisdom, and choose a response rooted in truth. If you want a faith-based way to strengthen emotional resilience, renew your mind, and ground your identity in Christ even when your feelings are loud, press play, then subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find these conversations. Exercise Your Faith
2026/08/13
Faith sounds inspiring until you have to use it when your heart is racing. I’m Constance Lavonice, and I’m inviting you into a practical conversation about what it means to exercise your faith, not just talk about it. We start with Hebrews 11:1 and get clear about the difference between wishing and believing, then we connect faith to training. Just like physical exercise can build strength and mental health habits can ease anxiety and depression, spiritual discipline builds WholeHeart resilience in spirit, soul, and body. We walk through 1 Timothy 4:7 and talk about why God calls us to discipline ourselves for godliness, then we bring it down to real life. I share how God delivered me from a spirit of fear and what it looked like to take one concrete step: walking around my neighborhood alone after years of avoidance. We also talk about the abundant life Jesus describes in John 10:10 and the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5, including peace, patience, and wisdom you can actually live from. You’ll hear stories that make Christian faith feel actionable. We even connect the recovery phrase “it works if you work it” with James 2:26 and neuroplasticity, because repeated practice can rewire what becomes normal for your mind and your life. If you want stronger biblical faith, steadier Christian mental health, and practical steps for spiritual resilience, press play. Go All In With God
2026/08/06
God told me something so direct it stopped me in my tracks: go all in. Not halfway. Not when it feels safe. Not after I’ve checked what everyone else thinks. All in with Him. From a quiet moment on a Rocky Mountains trip, I share what I believe God is saying to many of us right now, especially women who feel pulled between faith, fear, and the constant noise of life.  We talk about the miracle of salvation through Jesus Christ and what it means to be transformed, made new, and called the righteousness of God. When that truth sinks in, it changes how we see ourselves and how we move. I also get honest about distraction, the mental tug of comparison, and the habit of giving ten minutes to the Bible while giving hours to social media, news, and other people’s opinions. If you’ve felt spiritually dry, confused, or stuck, this is an invitation to redirect your focus and draw near to God so He can draw near to you.  You’ll hear practical encouragement on hearing God’s voice, obeying what He’s already told you, and building WholeHeart resilience through meditating on Scripture. We end with a prayer for courage, clarity, and faith to take the next step. If this message strengthens you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review. Hum to Heal a Dysregulated Nervous System
2026/07/30
Your mind may be saying “we’re fine,” but your body might still be scanning for danger. When you’re stuck in that always-on edge state, it can feel like anxiety comes out of nowhere, irritation rises fast, and rest never really lands. We unpack what hypervigilance is, why it shows up, and how it quietly drains you through mental fatigue and physical exhaustion even when life looks “normal” on the outside.  We also zoom in on trauma as a common root, not just big headline events, but anything that overwhelms your ability to cope in the moment. The important shift is realizing trauma isn’t only a memory or a thought pattern; it can be stored in the nervous system through the senses. Sounds, sights, sensations, and even a creeping thought can become triggers that pull you back into fight or flight. When that happens, the rational, problem-solving part of the brain can shut down, which is why trying to “think positive” often feels impossible.  Then we get practical with a simple, surprisingly powerful tool: humming. Because the vocal cords and the back of the throat connect with the vagus nerve, humming can help activate a relaxation response and create a felt sense of safety in the present. We connect this body-based reset with biblical faith, including Romans 12:2 and Psalm 42:8, and we also point toward real-world support, including professional counseling and therapist directories like Psychology Today. If you’ve been living in the fear of the past, let this be a gentle next step. Subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find calm and help. Sing! It's Therapeutic
2026/07/23
Singing can feel almost too simple to matter, until you notice what it does to your mind and body. I’m Constance Lavonice, and I’m walking through why singing and even humming can become a practical tool for mental health, emotional healing, and whole-heart resilience. If you’ve been anxious, depressed, fearful, or just stretched thin, this conversation offers something you can try today with no special equipment and no perfect pitch required. We start with the spiritual side of singing: praise and worship as a way to connect with God, rooted in the Psalms and the call to “make a joyful noise.” We also honor the way songs have carried hope through real suffering, from the spirituals sung by enslaved people in the United States to the unifying songs of the civil rights movement. Singing doesn’t erase pain, but it can hold faith and endurance when words alone feel too small. Then we move into the mental health and body science of it all. Singing helps us identify, express, and process emotions, sometimes unlocking feelings we can’t name until a lyric names them for us. We talk about emotional release, why songs can bring us to tears, and how your voice stimulates the vagus nerve which triggers the parasympathetic “rest and digest” nervous system, easing the fight-or-flight stress response. If you’re nervous, afraid, grieving, or even celebrating, I give you simple prompts to use singing as a steady practice. Don't Let Unbelief Neutralize You
2026/07/16
We walk through Rahab’s story and the way God turns a risky act of faith into redemption that echoes through generations. We connect James 2 to everyday life and ask what it looks like when faith shows up in our choices and our words.  • Rahab’s decision to hide the spies and what it reveals about real trust in God  • James 2 and the link between faith and works as visible fruit  • Cultivating faith through hearing and meditating on the Word of God  • Moving in the direction of faith with practical actions • Rethinking how we talk about challenges and refusing to be defined by difficulties  • Speaking as an act of faith and how words reflect what fills the heart  • A closing prayer for God’s presence, guidance, and provision  Send us Fan Mail Thanks for Listening.  Please subscribe, review and shareVisit our website at https://wholeheartwcc.comText the show and share what's on your heart.* This Podcast is for educational purposes only and does not replace professional therapy or medical advice.
