In this piyyut said whenever selichot are recited we ask G-d to answer our prayers just as he answered the prayers of our Biblical ancestors from Avraham to Mordechai and Esther. In this anti-Christian polemic, we ask G-d to punish those who persecuted us for refusing to replace our G-d with the god of the one who was crucified.
