Description

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ RATED IN THE TOP 2.5% OF PODCASTS IN THE WORLD  The Go-To podcast for Christian moms who are trusting God with prodigal and estranged adult children. Are you struggling with broken relationships and losses that have shaken your faith and left you wondering where God is? Have you found yourself wrestling with how to trust God and His timing, especially when it comes to your children who have grown distant? Do you lie awake at night worrying about your prodigal children, wishing you knew how to pray with confidence instead of fear? Maybe your life feels like a rollercoaster - cycling between sadness, shame, and loss.  If this sounds like you, I’m glad you’re here. It’s time to stop hitting the snooze button on your faith and start living fully awakened to a deeper walk with God —one that brings peace, healing, and clarity—even in the middle of strained relationships. The Praying Moms of Estranged Children podcast has a simple mission: to help you grow your faith by trusting God with your broken relationships. Inside this podcast, you’ll learn how to: Awaken to the power of prayer so you have strength as you face life’s hardest moments with strength Trust God with your prodigal or estranged adult children—even when answers feel delayed Heal from past wounds by understanding your identity in Christ and standing on God’s promises Hi, I’m Sarah Wall– mom of two adult kids, a Jesus-loving wife, and a woman who knows what it feels like to have her faith shaken to the core. For years, the cares of life kept my faith on the back burner…until some wake-up calls jolted me out of my spiritual slumber! Between the end of my first marriage, the loss of close friendships, seasons of estrangement from my children, and a difficult career transition, I felt disillusioned and defeated. These trials were bigger than anything I had faced before—and too heavy to carry alone. I questioned why God was allowing this to happen, worried instead of prayed, and felt heartbroken. I wanted to trust God, but I didn’t know how to pray through the pain. I tried fixing everything on my own…and then I cried and crashed and broke.  That’s when the Holy Spirit gently woke me up. I realized that I didn’t know how to pray effectively for myself —or for my adult children. As I quieted the noise and made space to listen, God began healing my heart from the inside out. I discovered I was in a spiritual battle–and God’s promises became the anchor my faith desperately needed.  Learning to trust God with my strained relationships wasn’t easy, but it transformed me. The Lord opened my eyes, and I traded my pajamas for spiritual armor. As it dawned on me that faith was the only way through my struggles, I learned how to pray, to trust God’s timing, and to rest in His peace—even when circumstances didn’t change. This new way of living ignited my spiritual growth and snoozed the noise so I could tune into God’s presence consistently. What I learned changed my life, and now I’m here to walk with you. I can’t promise that God will restore every relationship. But I know this: You are not meant to live stuck in worry or heartbreak. As you pray for your prodigals and trust God with your estranged relationships, He will restore your hope, strengthen your faith, and bring peace to your heart. This show delivers faith-filled teaching and practical takeaways to help you awaken your faith in Jesus, move from worry to trusting God, and from brokenness to healing. Wake up to the peace and wholeness you’ve been longing for. Jump out of bed, turn off your alarm clock, and make yourself a strong latte. It’s time to let the Son shine in your life! 60 | Stop Letting “What Ifs” Fuel Your Anxiety Over Your Estranged Child: Choose “Even If” Faith, with Ashanti Watson
2026/10/20
Episode 60 | Stop Letting “What Ifs” Fuel Your Anxiety Over Your Estranged Child: Choose “Even If” Faith Do you find yourself constantly imagining everything that could go wrong with your estranged or prodigal child? What if they never return to the Lord? What if your relationship is never restored? What if they continue making choices that hurt them? And how can you stop worrying when you have no idea what the future holds? When you're dealing with estrangement, those endless “what if” thoughts can leave you anxious, overwhelmed, and emotionally exhausted. You want to trust God with your adult child, but it's hard to quiet your mind when so much feels uncertain. In This Episode I'm joined by Ashanti Watson, Christian anxiety coach and host of the Get Free From Anxiety podcast, to talk about how to stop letting fearful thoughts control your life and begin developing “even if” faith. If you've been spending your days imagining worst-case scenarios about your estranged or prodigal child, this conversation will help you recognize how those thought patterns fuel anxiety and why changing the way you respond to them matters. Drawing from Daniel 3 and the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Ashanti shares a powerful shift in perspective: moving from constantly asking “What if something terrible happens?” to choosing to trust God even if life doesn't turn out the way you hope. You'll also discover practical ways to identify and redirect anxious thoughts through journaling, prayer, and the truth of Scripture. We'll explore how Philippians 4:8 can help you change your thought patterns and focus on what's true rather than becoming consumed by fear. And if you've been faithfully praying for your adult child for months or years without seeing the changes you've hoped for, we'll talk about how to remain grounded in God's promises, keep your faith strong, and remember that God hears you even when you're still waiting for answers. Whether you're worried about your prodigal child's salvation, longing for reconciliation, or struggling to trust in God with an uncertain future, this episode will encourage you to pray with confidence, stop allowing fear to dominate your thoughts, and experience more of God's peace as you trust in God—regardless of what's happening with your child. You may not know what the future holds, but you can learn to face it with greater faith and less fear. Ready to Take Your Next Step Toward God's Peace? When you're constantly worried about your estranged or prodigal child, it can be difficult to know how to stop overthinking, release what you cannot control, and trust God with the outcome. If you're struggling with these challenges, I'd love to help you work through them in a Peaceful Mom Coaching Session. We'll create a personalized action plan to help you release worry, pray with greater confidence, and move forward with more of God's peace. 2026/10/06
Episode 58 | When Your Estranged Child Pulls Away: Should You Reach Out or Give Them Space? Do you want to call or text your estranged adult child, but you're afraid reaching out might make things worse? Are you worried that giving your child space will only create more distance between you? Or that if you don't make an effort to reconnect, your relationship may never improve? When you're longing for reconciliation with your estranged or prodigal child, knowing whether to reach out or give them space can be one of the hardest decisions you'll face. You don't want to push your child further away, but you also don't want them to think you've stopped caring. In This Episode We're talking about how to decide whether to reach out to your estranged adult child or give them space, especially when you're worried about damaging an already fragile relationship. If your child has stopped communicating, seems angry with you, or keeps pulling away, you may feel torn between wanting to reconnect and being afraid of making things worse. How do you know when to take the initiative and when it's better to wait? Drawing from my own experience with estrangement, I'll share what I've learned about recognizing when your child may need space, when reaching out might be appropriate, and why it's important not to let fear or panic drive your decisions. You'll learn how to approach this difficult situation with greater clarity, consider what may be happening in your relationship, and make more intentional choices about how you respond to your adult child. Whether you're dealing with complete estrangement, limited communication, or a prodigal child who keeps pushing you away, this episode will encourage you to pray for wisdom, strengthen your faith, and continue to trust in God as you navigate these difficult decisions. You may not be able to control how your child responds, but you can learn to make thoughtful decisions that protect your peace and leave room for a healthier relationship in the future. Ready to Take Your Next Step Toward God's Peace? Sometimes the hardest part of estrangement is simply not knowing what to do next. Should you reach out? Wait? Set a boundary? And how can you make those decisions without allowing worry or fear to take over? 57 | Still Hurting Over What Someone Did to You? Bring Your Pain to God When Forgiveness Feels Hard - with Beth Steigerwalt
2026/09/29
Episode 57: Still Hurting Over What Someone Did to You? Bring Your Pain to God When Forgiveness Feels Hard - with Beth Steigerwalt Have you been trying to ignore or push aside the pain that you’ve been carrying because of estrangement? Hurt doesn’t disappear even if we bury it for years, and sometimes that pain can lead us to isolate ourselves when we need support the most. In this episode I’m joined by Beth Steigerwalt, host of the Heal Depression with God podcast, as we discuss bringing our pain honestly before God, how to forgive when we’ve been deeply hurt, and why forgiving someone doesn’t mean excusing what they did. Beth also shares something especially meaningful for estranged moms: her own experience as the adult daughter who pulled away from her mother. Looking back, she can now see their relationship differently—and what she discovered years later in her mother’s Bible offers powerful encouragement for moms who continue to pray for an estranged or prodigal child without seeing the changes they long for. If you’re carrying hurt, struggling to trust in God with your child, or longing for God’s peace, I pray Beth’s story reminds you that you don’t have to bury your pain or face it alone. And if you’re struggling with the hurt and uncertainty of estrangement, you don’t have to keep sorting through all of those emotions on your own. In a Peaceful Mom Coaching Session, you’ll have a safe place to talk through what’s happening with your estranged or prodigal child, gain clarity about the situation, and determine how you want to move forward. When your relationship with your child is broken, or you’re watching your prodigal make choices that concern you deeply, your need for time with the Jesus becomes very real. But are you spending the kind of time with Him that you really need? Your prayer life can go through different seasons. You may struggle with consistency or distractions, or find that most of your prayers have become focused on what you desperately want the Lord to change. But when you pray, you are also deepening your relationship with Jesus, learning to trust God more fully, and finding God’s peace as you continue to pray for your child. In this episode, I’m helping you take an honest look at what’s working in your prayer life, what’s missing, and what needs to change. 55 | Are You Really Tapping Into the Power of Prayer? Go Deeper With God During Estrangement
2026/09/15
Episode 55: Are You Really Tapping Into the Power of Prayer? Go Deeper With God During Estrangement Are you praying for your prodigal or estranged child, but wondering whether your prayer life could be stronger than it is right now? When you’re walking through estrangement, worrying about your child’s salvation, or longing for reconciliation, prayer becomes an important part of learning to trust in God’s faithfulness.  But are you really tapping into the power of prayer? In this episode, we’re talking about why a deeper prayer life matters so much when you have an estranged or prodigal child. I’ll challenge you to think about the kind of prayer life you want to have and whether you have a desire to go deeper with God as you pray for your child. We’re going to look at the power and potential of praying persistently and expectantly while still leaving the outcome in God’s hands. Because prayer isn’t only about asking God to change your child or restore your relationship. The time you spend with Him can strengthen you, deepen your faith, and change you in ways you may not expect. If you’ve become discouraged because you’ve prayed for your child for a long time without seeing the answers you’ve hoped for, or you know you want a deeper connection with God but aren’t sure you fully understand what He has given you through prayer, this episode will give you something important to think about. As you pray for your adult child, you can ask boldly for God to move while still surrendering the outcome to Him. And as your relationship with Jesus grows deeper, so can your ability to trust in God and experience God’s peace in the uncertainty of estrangement. I pray this episode encourages you to desire a deeper prayer life and reminds you of the incredible privilege we have to come before the Lord and pray. If you’re struggling with estrangement and need help figuring out what to do in your relationship with your child, I encourage you to schedule a Peaceful Mom Coaching Session. 54 | Lies About Yourself Don’t Disappear Overnight: Use God’s Truth to Renew Your Mind
2026/09/08
Have you recognized some lies you’ve been believing about yourself because of estrangement, but you still struggle to stop believing them? Do the same thoughts about your worth, your mistakes, or who you are as a mom keep coming back—even though you know they aren’t true? Recognizing the lie is the first step, and if you’ve been believing it for a long time, it may take time for God’s truth to really take root. In this second part of my conversation with Marji Broce, host of the Break Free From Insecurity podcast, we’re talking about how to replace lies with God’s truth and renew your mind with Scripture.  We share what to do when old thoughts keep coming back, how biblical meditation helps truth become more deeply rooted in you, and how the Holy Spirit can help you recognize where a lie is still influencing the way you think and live. If your relationship with your estranged or prodigal child has caused you to question yourself, this episode will help you stop rehearsing old lies and start bringing your thoughts into agreement with God’s Word. You’ll learn how to pray through this process, renew your mind with Scripture, and trust in God’s truths to help you believe what He says about you. Your child’s estrangement may be part of your story, but it does not get to define who you are. I pray this episode strengthens your faith and helps you experience God’s peace. Also, if being estranged from your child has left you feeling overwhelmed and you need someone to walk alongside you during your estrangement journey, I encourage you to schedule a Peaceful Mom Coaching Session. I’ll help you identify your next practical steps so you can move forward with renewed hope. 53 | What Has Estrangement Made You Believe About Yourself? How to Recognize the Lies
2026/09/01
Has estrangement with your adult child changed the way you see yourself? When your estranged or prodigal child rejects you or pulls away, it can leave you questioning your parenting choices, replaying the past, and wondering what your child’s rejection says about you. In this episode, I’m talking with Marji Broce, host of the Break Free From Insecurity podcast, about how rejection can affect your identity. We’ll talk about how to recognize when guilt or regret has turned into a lie about who you are, the difference between conviction and condemnation, and how a fear of rejection can affect other relationships. If you’re struggling with shame or second-guessing yourself as a mom, this conversation will help you separate your child’s opinion of you from what God says is true—so you can continue to pray, grow your trust in God, and experience more of God’s peace. You'll learn how to stop measuring your value by your child's willingness to have a relationship with you and begin seeing yourself through God's eyes instead. If you're praying for your prodigal, or trying to heal from the pain of your estranged relationship, this conversation will help you trust in God and move toward God's peace without allowing your estrangement to define who you are. I pray this episode blesses you! If you're struggling with your estrangement, I'm here to support you. 49 | When Your Estranged Child Goes Silent: Pray and Trust in God's Promises
2026/08/04
When your estranged child stops responding, the silence can feel overwhelming. Every unanswered text, voicemail, or birthday message can leave you wondering what to do next—and how to keep trusting God when nothing seems to be changing. In this episode, I share how the Lord taught me to use the painful season of silence differently. Instead of letting unanswered communication consume my thoughts, I learned how to pray with greater purpose by focusing on what I was trusting God to do rather than on what I was currently seeing. If you're longing for God's peace while you wait for restoration in your family, this episode will give you a Scripture-based approach to praying for your prodigal child with greater confidence as you continue to trust in God. You'll walk away with an action plan to help you align your prayers with God's promises and continue moving forward in faith—even when your estranged child remains silent. I pray this blesses you! If you're ready for personalized encouragement and clarity during your estrangement journey, I'm here to support you.
