Just What the Doctor Ordered | Chat with the Grand Banana (EP049)
2026/10/09
In this episode of EDC‑TV, Grant and Kirky welcome Nate (forum member, psychology professor, and self‑proclaimed “Grandest Banana”) for a deep dive into the psychology of everyday carry.
Together, the trio explores why we carry what we carry, how our personal histories shape our tool choices, and why the quest for the “perfect” multitool becomes such a powerful part of the EDC journey. From Leatherman Waves and Victorinox Spirits to pocket‑jewelry, talismans of safety, and the social dynamics behind pocket dumps, this conversation blends real‑world use, personal stories, and psychological insight in a way only the EDC‑TV crew can deliver.
Nate shares how his family’s tradition of pocket knives led him into multi‑tools, how preparedness influences behavior, and why certain tools become emotional comfort items. Grant and Kirky add decades of experience, touching on collector mentality, status symbols, the Leatherman Garage phenomenon, and the eternal debate between “tools for use” vs. “tools for show.”
If you’ve ever wondered why the EDC hobby grabs hold so tightly (or why you keep buying tools even after finding “the one”) this episode is for you.

Small Tools, Big Debate | Planning to Restore a G-Shock (EP 048)
2026/10/03
Small tools, big opinions, and even bigger laughs!
This week on EDC-TV, Grant and John dive deep into the SOG PowerPint, exploring its strengths, quirks, and questionable scissors. From compound leverage pliers to surprisingly capable can openers, the PowerPint gets a full real world breakdown after weeks of daily carry.
The conversation branches into the wild world of compact multi‑tools, Leatherman nostalgia, the infamous Juice flatheads, and why the Mini is both “utterly useless” and “utterly adorable.” Grant and John also react to CRKT’s newly released Fulcrum 2, compare it to the legendary Fulcrum Flame, and debate whether fidget factor outweighs function.
From obscure Gerber classics like the Multi‑Light, to Jeep‑branded “Spider Guppy” hybrids, to the rising trend of pocket‑sized adjustable wrenches like the Knipex Cobra XS and WorkPro alternatives, this episode is a tour through multitool history, innovation, and questionable design choices.
Plus: John begins a new restoration project on a Casio G‑Shock GA‑100, shares the joys and horrors of battery hunting, and promises future updates (and possibly new swear words).
If you love EDC gear, pocket tools, Swiss Army knives, or just two enthusiasts having a blast, this episode is packed with insights, stories, and gear you’ve probably never seen before.

Unfiltered EDC Chat | Crayons, Bracelets and Pocket Wrenches (EP047)
2026/09/25
Join us this week for a wild ride through multitool mayhem, knife nostalgia, postal‑service mysteries, and one titanium bracelet that somehow comes with crayons?
In this episode of EDC TV, Grant and John dive into a sprawling, hilarious, genuinely insightful conversation about SOG quirks, UK‑legal blades, sharpening setups, rescue tools, and the eternal struggle of exotic steels vs. “I just want to sharpen this thing on my car window.”
From the saga of the missing SOG PowerPint and the suspiciously collectible model kit that vanished in the British postal system, the infamous PowerAssist that deploys all on its own, to Rough Rider stockmans, Subcoms, para‑tool mods, and the eternal debate over MagnaCut hype, this episode is packed with deep cuts for knife nerds and multitool fans alike.
And just when you think it can’t get stranger, Grant unveils the Ti‑Link, a titanium multitool bracelet that stores screwdriver bits, forever pencils, and actual crayons.
Because of course it does.
If you love multitools, pocket knives, sharpening talk, EDC culture, or just two enthusiasts laughing their way through the gear world, this episode is absolutely your jam.

Peasant Knives | SAKs Vs Baguettes (EP 045)
2026/08/28
EDC TV: Peasant Knives, History, Culture & Unexpected Classics
This episode dives deep into one of the most universal, beloved, and culturally rich categories of cutting tools: peasant knives. Grant, Inky Chris, and returning regular Kirky explore what makes these humble blades so enduring, from agricultural roots to modern-day collectability- and why nearly every country has its own iconic version.
You’ll hear stories about Okapis in New York, Duk-Duks in France, Mercator K55Ks in Germany, Opinel classics, and the fascinating Portuguese hybrids Grant discovered on his travels. The crew compares designs, shares personal experiences, and breaks down why these knives remain essential tools for workers, farmers, and everyday folks around the world.
Along the way, you’ll get laughs, history, practical insights, and even a few tales of missing mail, chronograph confusion, and baguette‑cutting in London.
If you love knives, culture, history, or just good conversation, this episode is for you.

EDC Book Report | Who Knew These Guys Could Read? (EP 044)
2026/08/21
In this episode of EDC‑TV, Grant sits down with long‑time Multitool.org member John “Kirky” Kirkwood for a deep dive into everyday carry philosophy- from tiny keychain knives to the psychology behind why we carry what we carry.
We crack open Jim Cobb’s new book Common Sense Everyday Carry and explore some of its biggest ideas, including the Three‑Layer EDC System (on‑body, off‑body, vehicle) and the concept of “talismans of safety” aka the gear people carry but don’t actually know how to use.
Along the way, we compare the Spyderco Ladybug to the Byrd Finch, talk UK pricing pain, revisit infamous oddities like the Lansky World Legal Knife, and reminisce about legendary multitools like the Gerber MP600 and SOG PowerLock. Expect strong opinions, good‑natured ribbing, and a whole lot of gear talk.
If you enjoy EDC discussions, knife nerdery, or just watching Grant and Kirky roast questionable design choices… this one’s for you.

Bug Out Bags and Bad Decisions | Real World Experiences (EP 043)
2026/08/14
When zombie outbreaks only happen in the U.S. (according to Grant’s extensive movie research), you know it’s time for a serious conversation about bug‑out bags.
Or at least as serious as EDC TV ever gets.
In this episode, Grant, Inky Chris, and Kirky dive into:
What a bug‑out bag really isWhy comfort matters more than tacticool gearThe chaos of real emergencies such as blackouts, floods, terrorist attacks and spilled root beerWhat to pack so you’re ready for 24–72 hours of “get the F out of there”The importance of spare clothes once you’re over 40Surviving Canadian winters (spoiler: fire is not optional)And of course… knives. Including Grant’s new Kershaw Align and a very honest review of the Victorinox Synergy.
It’s practical, it’s ridiculous, it’s relatable and it’s exactly why you watch EDC TV.
If you’ve ever wondered whether your bug‑out bag is enough… or whether you should even bother… this episode is for you.

Abnormal EDC Items | Inky and Kirky Together Finally (EP 042)
2026/08/07
Episode 042 – Abnormal EDC: The Everyday Carry Items You Don’t Expect
In this episode of EDC‑TV, Grant, Inky, and John dive into the wonderfully strange world of abnormal everyday carry—the tools, trinkets, and personal items people keep with them that fall way outside the usual knives, flashlights, and multitools.
We kick things off with the weekly “What’s New?” segment, where Kirky talks about the SOG PowerPint, Inky shows off a hilariously packaged knockoff Microtech, and Grant shares a compact DeWalt laser measure that leads perfectly into tonight’s theme.
From there, the crew explores the unconventional side of EDC:
John’s dowsing pendulum and poppy badgeInky’s full‑size scissors, A.G. Russell tweezers, and pocket crystalsGrant’s plastic calipers, emergency weather radio, and long‑serving Maxpedition gearPlus sewing kits, makeup brushes, trail mix, consumables, and other oddball items that make everyday life easier
It’s a fun, relaxed conversation full of stories, laughs, and genuinely useful ideas for expanding your own carry beyond the basics.
If you carry something unusual, meaningful, or just plain weird, drop it in the comments, or better yet, join the discussion at forum.Multitool.org.
Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you next week!

Kirky's Back | EDC Watches Worth Wearing (EP 041)
2026/07/24
What makes a watch worthy of being part of your Everyday Carry?
In Episode 041 of EDC-TV, Grant Lamontagne is joined once again by special guest John "Kirky" Kirkwood for a wide-ranging conversation about the watches that earn a permanent place on your wrist. From rugged Casio G-Shocks and affordable field watches to Seikos, Swatches, smartwatches, and everything in between, they explore what really matters in an EDC watch.
This isn't a discussion about luxury or status, it's about reliability, practicality, and the stories that your gear collects along the way. Along the way, the conversation wanders (as EDC-TV and Multitool.Org conversations often do!) into Swiss Army knives, multitools, watch modifications, NATO straps, military gear, collecting, and why the best piece of equipment is the one you'll actually use.
Whether you're a dedicated watch enthusiast, a casual wearer, or just looking for your next dependable everyday companion, there's something here for you.
In this episode you'll hear about:
What makes a great EDC watchWhy Casio G-Shocks have earned their legendary reputationWatch modifications and personalizationField watches vs. dive watches vs. smartwatchesBudget-friendly watches that punch above their priceThe stories and memories that make everyday gear specialHow watches fit into a complete EDC philosophyWhy "wear what you love, and love what you wear" may be the best advice of all.

Bladeless EDC | Chatting with Kirky (EP 040)
2026/07/17
This week’s episode is a special one, not just because of the topic (which is definitely a good one!), but because of the guest.
I’m joined by long‑time forum member John Kirkwood, known to all of us as Kirky, who’s been part of Multitool.org since 2011. For our 20th Anniversary, it felt right to bring in someone who embodies the spirit, humor, and history of the community.
We kick things off the way only EDC‑TV can, with me stumbling through the intro (I always screw up the intros…) and Kirky warming up with a conversation that’s equal parts gear talk, nostalgia, and genuine friendship.
From there, we explore the wonderfully weird world of bladeless EDC, including Kirky’s custom mods, his professional life, the tools that saved his sanity, and occasionally his job.
You’ll hear stories about:
The bladeless Fuse he rebuilt with Wave driversThe legendary KST, aka the Kirky Survival ToolHis modified Sideclip (“heresy to some people…”)The modern options like the Nextool Mini Sailor Lite and Roxon Mini‑Flex CompanionAnd yes… even the Gerber Armbar Mini
But this episode is also a love letter to the community.
We reminisce about the old UK meetups with exotic animals on the barbecue, and call out names many of us haven’t heard in years: Benner, Dunc, Gareth, Taxi Dad (Micheal), Magic Bus (Chris), Al, Paul, Dave K, and so many more. If you were ever part of Multitool.org, you’re part of this story.
As Kirky puts it, “Names are funny things.”
And after 20 years of Multitool.org, the names (and the people behind them!) are what made this place special.
Whether you’re new to the forum or you’ve been with us since the old SOSAK days, this episode is a celebration of everything we’ve built together.

20 Years of Multitool Madness | Kansept Chaos & the Return of the Mechanic Junior (EP 039) (Video)
2026/07/10
In this chaotic, hilarious, and knife‑packed episode of EDC‑TV, Grant and Inky dive head‑first into the 20th Anniversary of Multitool.org — celebrating two decades of sharp objects, questionable decisions, and the greatest community of tool nerds on the planet.
Grant kicks things off with updates on the massive anniversary festivities: giveaways, discount codes, games, prizes, and special collaborations with Kansept Knives and other industry friends. If you haven’t joined the party yet, head over to forum.multitool.org and get involved — or reach out if your company wants to be part of the celebration.
From there, the boys go full‑tilt into knife talk, reviewing a lineup of wild blades sent in by Kansept for the anniversary. Grant shows off the Kansept Fenrir, complete with 80s camouflage scales and gold titanium liners — a knife that somehow manages to look like a smoking jacket and a gas‑station fever dream at the same time. Inky, naturally, volunteers to “inspect” it.
Next up is the Kansept Parr, a tiny fixed blade with a surprisingly capable CPM steel, a clever sheath (with a drain hole, thank you Kansept), and a pocket clip that may or may not eject the knife into your truck seat. Grant recounts the near‑miss that could’ve ended in a very awkward ER visit.
Then comes the monster: the Tenable Knives Bombur — a half‑pound pocket beast named after the famously hefty dwarf from The Hobbit. With frag‑pattern G10, a triangular thumb hole, and enough jimping to grip it with Teflon gloves in a butter factory, this knife is equal parts ridiculous and irresistible.
Finally, Grant reveals the main event: the official Multitool.org 20th Anniversary Swiss Army Knife, a reissue of the legendary “Special Mechanic” / “Mechanic Junior” — a model never officially released, originally made for Radio Shack’s Techline brand. It’s a tribute to the community, the collectors, and the 20‑year legacy of the world’s premier Swiss Army Knife resource.
It’s knives, jokes, nostalgia, and pure multitool madness — exactly what you expect from Grant and Inky.

2026/07/03
Knife nerds, buckle up!

Grant, Inky Chris, and Abe Elias (Diving Sparrow Knifeworks / Blade Magazine) break down everything from full tangs, hidden tangs, rat‑tail tangs, skeletonized handles, half tangs, and even the infamous no‑tang hollow‑handle survival knives of the Rambo era.
Along the way, we get gear talk, knife drops, accidental bloodshed, Maxpedition nostalgia, and the usual chaos you’ve come to expect from EDC‑TV.
If you’ve ever wondered why certain knives feel stronger, lighter, or more balanced, or what actually goes on inside the handle this episode is your crash course.
