B&R #048 | How Should Christians Vote?
2026/10/30
How should a Christian vote when neither candidate perfectly represents biblical values? In this episode of the Bourne and Raised Podcast, Pastor Tim Bourne and Pastor Jordan Bourne tackle one of the most difficult questions Christians face during election season: how should our faith actually influence the way we vote? The conversation explores the difference between voting for a candidate’s personality and voting for the principles and policies they represent. Tim and Jordan discuss whether voting is a spiritual endorsement or a civic responsibility, whether Christians should sit out an election when they dislike both choices, and which biblical convictions should carry the most weight when entering the voting booth. They also examine how political language can reshape the way issues are understood, including conversations surrounding life, gender, marriage, immigration, parental rights, and religious belief. Using statements from political figures including Donald Trump and James Talarico, they ask how Christians can evaluate competing claims without allowing party loyalty, personality, or cultural pressure to become the ultimate standard. The goal of this conversation is not simply to tell Christians which box to check. It is to ask a bigger question: when our civic responsibility and our Christian conviction intersect, what principles actually govern our decision?   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 01:18 How Should Christians Vote? 09:36 Does Sitting Out the Election Matter? 15:08 How Political Language Shapes the Debate 23:44 Character, Policy, and Biblical Principles 38:57 Conviction, Church, and Voting Your Conscience   SCRIPTURE THEMES MENTIONED The sanctity and value of human life Biblical definitions of marriage and family Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life The difference between compassion and changing biblical truth Flawed leaders and the example of King David Submitting personal preferences and political identity to Scripture   WATCH NEXT Catch up on more Bourne and Raised conversations about faith, family, leadership, culture, and the issues Christians are navigating today: The Origin Of Genesis Metro   SUBSCRIBE Subscribe to the Bourne and Raised Podcast for conversations on faith, family, leadership, sports, culture, and whatever else ends up around the table.   Support the Show: (select fund PODCAST SPONSORSHIP) https://www.kindridgiving.com/app/Form/78ad43d8-65e8-4c98-adee-ddea14e23587 FOR BUSINESS AND SPONSORSHIP INQUIRIES: [email protected]   📱 STAY CONNECTED: ▶️ Subscribe on YouTube 📸 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bourneandra... 🌐 Learn more at: https://www.genesismetro.org/
B&R #047 | How Do I Fix Crazy?
2026/10/23
Are you asking God for clarity, or are you asking Him to confirm the answer you already want? In this episode of the Bourne and Raised Podcast, Pastor Tim Bourne, Pastor Carrie Bourne, Pastor Jordan Bourne, and Genesis Metro worship staff member Gabbie Foote unpack lessons from the Sisterhood 2026 Retreat and explore how the way we frame a situation can shape everything we believe about it. Our experiences, emotions, fears, and expectations can cause us to view life through a frame that is not rooted in reality. Through the contrasting stories of Saul and David, the team discusses the difference between reacting from the flesh and grounding our perspective in the unbiased truth of God’s Word. Gabbie shares how her prayers shifted from, “God, give me confidence, then I will obey,” to simply saying yes before she knew how everything would work out. The conversation expands into surrender, putting down the pen, praying with open hands, and trusting that God may have something better than the outcome we are trying to control. The team also reflects on the community and worship culture experienced at Sisterhood, why expectation and investment matter, and how godly relationships help move our frame back toward truth when feelings begin pulling it out of alignment.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 02:20 What’s Framing Your Perspective? 08:28 Community That Challenges Us 14:02 Showing Up Expectant In Worship 22:33 Clarity Vs. 2026/10/09
Four weeks into THE GREATEST FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE OF ALL TIME, the standings are starting to get uncomfortable. In this episode of the Bourne and Raised Podcast, Tim Bourne and Jordan Bourne are joined by Korey McEwin, Justin James, and Nolan Spann for our first in-season fantasy football league update. We reveal the last-place punishment for this season, break down the standings after four weeks, and hear directly from the managers currently staring up from the bottom of the table. Some still have hope. Others have entered the dangerous world of fantasy football cope. B&R #045 | How To Build Resilience (Part 2!)
2026/10/02
Can resilience be built before life forces you to use it? In this episode of the Bourne and Raised Podcast, Pastor Tim Bourne, Pastor Carrie Bourne, Pastor Jordan Bourne, and Pastor Mark Clements continue their conversation on how to build resilience in leadership, marriage, relationships, and everyday life. The team discusses why talent without adversity can leave people unprepared for pressure, and how discipline, work ethic, and intentionally doing hard things can build the “muscle” of resilience before the real test arrives. The conversation then turns to accountability and conflict. Can you receive correction without falling apart? Can a marriage, friendship, or team survive a hard conversation and return to health afterward? The group explores why avoiding conflict can actually prevent growth, why coddling can hurt the people we are trying to help, and why healthy people learn to separate their identity from their emotions. From hiding phones when chores were forgotten to Remember the Titans, hard conversations, marriage, leadership, and learning to keep showing up when you do not feel like it, this episode is about becoming the kind of person who can take a hit, learn from it, and keep moving forward.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Can You Train Resilience? 00:31 Talent Vs. B&R #044 | How To Build Resilience
2026/09/25
What does true resilience look like in marriage, parenting, and leadership? In this episode of the Bourne and Raised Podcast, Pastor Tim Bourne, Pastor Carrie Bourne, Pastor Jordan Bourne, and Pastor Mark Clements explore how to build a healthy team through grit and perseverance. Resilience is more than just "getting through it". It’s the ability to return to health after conflict, exhaustion, or failure. The team discusses how resilience is developed like a muscle, why parents must allow children to experience failure, and how faith in Jesus provides a foundation to push off of when life feels overwhelming. From hilarious parenting stories (including an unforgettable potty-training disaster) to biblical examples like the Apostle Paul and Louis Zamperini, this conversation offers practical tools for anyone looking to lead with grit and purpose.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Defining Resilience 05:15 Parenting for Grit 12:01 Examples of Resilience 17:33 Parenting Stories and Lessons Learned   SCRIPTURE THEMES MENTIONED Being hard pressed but not crushed Persevering under trial Falling seven times and getting back up Jesus as the Rock and foundation Paul’s resilience in Acts 14   WATCH NEXT If you missed the earlier episodes in this health series, go back and watch Part 1 and Part 2 for more context on building healthy people, healthy relationships, and healthy teams. B&R #043 | Why Trust Is So Important
2026/09/18
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, Jordan, and Mark continue their conversation on organizational health, focusing on trust and why healthy teams can navigate disagreement without questioning each other’s motives. We discuss how trust is earned through character, consistency, and follow-through, how gossip and inconsistent leadership undermine it, and why genuine accountability requires relationships built on trust. The conversation also celebrates dependable volunteers and explores why leaders must invest in others rather than try to do everything themselves. When healthy culture is modeled consistently, it begins to reproduce itself. Tim and Carrie share personal stories of sacrificing comfort and resources to make room for teammates, reminding us that building a healthy team means putting the mission ahead of ourselves.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 00:11 Building A Culture Of Trust 07:40 The Value Of A Person You Can Trust 18:16 The Sacrifice Required To Build Something   👍 Like, comment, and subscribe for more conversations about faith, leadership, culture, and everyday life. 👇JOIN THE CONVERSATION: What do you think our fourth component of a healthy team will be?   Support the Show: (select fund PODCAST SPONSORSHIP) https://www.kindridgiving.com/app/Form/78ad43d8-65e8-4c98-adee-ddea14e23587 FOR BUSINESS AND SPONSORSHIP INQUIRIES: [email protected]   📱 STAY CONNECTED: ▶️ Subscribe on YouTube 📸 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bourneandra... 🌐 Learn more at: https://www.genesismetro.org/
B&R #042 | What Makes A Healthy Team? (Part 1)
2026/09/11
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, Jordan, and Mark begin a new series on organizational health and what separates a team that simply gets results from one that is genuinely healthy. In Part 1, we focus on two foundational qualities: clarity and ownership. We discuss why healthy teams need to know what is true and what actually matters, how leaders can damage culture by fixating on the wrong things, and why confusion often grows when people lose sight of the larger mission. Then we turn to ownership: taking responsibility, finishing what you start, helping the whole team succeed, and refusing to settle for, “I did my part.” Healthy teams win and lose together. Part 2 continues with trust and how healthy culture begins to reproduce itself.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 10:00 Fixating On The Wrong Things 18:05 External Vs. B&R #041 | The Greatest Fantasy Football League Of All Time
2026/09/04
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Jordan, and Titus are joined by Korey and Nolan for a full breakdown of what we proudly call THE GREATEST FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE OF ALL TIME. This is not your average fantasy league. We talk through the combine-style competitions we use to determine draft order, the ridiculous level of competitiveness that comes with every season, the rivalries that have developed over the years, and some of the unforgettable last-place punishments we have handed out along the way. Korey also brings the championship trophy into the studio after winning the league back-to-back the last two seasons, which naturally gives everyone one more reason to argue, defend themselves, and talk trash. From the draft process to the punishments, this league has become its own tradition, complete with rules, history, rivalries, and way too much pride on the line. B&R #040 | Origin Of Genesis Metro, Part 6
2026/08/28
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, and Jordan are joined by longtime Genesis Metro member Tim Salazar for Part 6 of The Origin Of Genesis Metro. After years of meeting in an elementary school, Genesis Metro reached a major turning point: moving into its first permanent building at 9750 John W. Elliott Dr. In this episode, we look back on what that transition required, the faith it took to make the move, and the lessons God taught us along the way. What felt like a huge step at the time became another reminder that the story of Genesis Metro has always been built one act of obedience at a time. Tim Salazar has been part of Genesis Metro for 20 years and has served at some of the highest levels of our organization. His story is woven throughout so many chapters of the church, so this conversation also gives us the chance to reminisce on some classic Salazar stories, celebrate years of faithfulness, and reflect on what it means to keep showing up for what God is building. This episode is about more than a building. It is about the people, sacrifices, relationships, and faith that helped Genesis Metro take the next step forward.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro + T Sal Joins The Show! 02:00 Recap Of The Genesis Metro Story 03:01 The Jump To 9750 14:45 Renovating 9750 20:22 First Services At 9750 24:18 The Faith Lessons Learned 33:47 How The Church Shifted Through 9750 37:28 T Sal’s Mission Work Experience 43:58 God Prepares You 51:11 God Provides 59:20 If You Didn’t Make It This Far, You Will Regret It   👍 Like, comment, and subscribe for more stories from the history of Genesis Metro and conversations about faith, leadership, and life. 🔔 Turn on notifications so you do not miss the next chapter of The Origin Of Genesis Metro. 👇 JOIN THE CONVERSATION: Has God ever prepared you for a new season?   If you need to get caught up on the Origin Of Genesis Metro series, click here: The Origin Of Genesis Metro     Support the Show: (select fund PODCAST SPONSORSHIP) https://www.kindridgiving.com/app/Form/78ad43d8-65e8-4c98-adee-ddea14e23587 FOR BUSINESS AND SPONSORSHIP INQUIRIES: [email protected]   📱 STAY CONNECTED: ▶️ Subscribe on YouTube 📸 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bourneandra... 🌐 Learn more at: https://www.genesismetro.org/

B&R #038 | Our Church’s First Baptism, 24 Years Later
2026/08/14
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Carrie, and Jordan sit down with Adam, the very first person ever baptized at Genesis Metro Church. More than 24 years ago, before Genesis Metro had the history, stories, and people it has today, Adam’s life became one of the first visible reminders that God was already at work. In this episode, Tim and Adam look back on how they first met through what seemed like a random job, how that relationship eventually led to conversations about faith, and how Adam ultimately gave his life to Christ and was baptized. What started as one changed life became part of the foundation of a much bigger story. Adam shares what following Jesus has looked like over the decades since that baptism, including building a family of his own and maintaining a strong faith through the different seasons of life. Tim and Carrie also get the opportunity to tell Adam what his story meant to Genesis Metro in those earliest days, when every testimony was evidence that the mission was worth pursuing. It is a powerful reminder that we rarely know how far one act of obedience, one conversation, or one changed life will reach. Toward the end of the episode, Adam also opens up about his brother Josh’s battle with cancer. We would love for the Bourne & Raised community to join us in praying for Josh and his family during this season. This episode is about looking back with gratitude, celebrating a life of faithfulness, and remembering that behind every number, baptism, and church milestone is a person whose story matters.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Adam Joins The Show! 01:02 Who Is Adam? 04:21 Adam’s Salvation Story 07:18 The First Baptism Of Genesis Metro History 12:36 Please Pray For Josh 23:28 What Adam Has Meant For Genesis Metro 28:47 The Time Pastor Tim Was Wrong!   👍 Like, comment, and subscribe for more conversations about faith, family, testimony, and the stories that have shaped Genesis Metro. 🔔 Turn on notifications so you never miss an episode of Bourne & Raised. 👇 JOIN THE CONVERSATION: Who is someone God used to help you take an important step in your faith?   And please join us in praying for Josh.   Support the Show: (select fund PODCAST SPONSORSHIP) https://www.kindridgiving.com/app/Form/78ad43d8-65e8-4c98-adee-ddea14e23587 FOR BUSINESS AND SPONSORSHIP INQUIRIES: [email protected]   📱 STAY CONNECTED: ▶️ Subscribe on YouTube 📸 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bourneandra... 🌐 Learn more at: https://www.genesismetro.org/
B&R #037 | The Importance Of Culture (Part 2)
2026/08/07
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Jordan, Titus, and Mark continue their conversation about the importance of culture by taking a closer look at the heart of the prodigal son’s older brother. While the father celebrates the return of his lost son, the older brother remains outside, angry and unwilling to join the celebration. His response reveals how easy it is to become focused on comparison, entitlement, and personal frustration instead of rejoicing over a life that has been restored. Jesus tells us that there is celebration in heaven when one sinner repents. That truth inspires a phrase discussed throughout this episode: “Make heaven crowded and angels tired.” The goal is not merely to build a successful church or attract a crowd. It is to reach so many people with the gospel that heaven is constantly celebrating lives being changed. As believers, we should never become annoyed by the celebration, resentful of grace, or more concerned with our preferences than with people coming home to God. A healthy culture celebrates salvation, restoration, repentance, and every step someone takes toward Jesus. At the end of the episode, Rodrigo shares a powerful personal testimony about realizing that he has experienced life as both brothers. At different points in his faith journey, he has been the younger brother who needed to come home and the older brother who struggled with what was happening around him. His story reminds us that the parable is not simply about deciding which brother is worse. It is an invitation to examine our own hearts and respond to the grace of the Father. This is Part 2 of our conversation on the importance of culture.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 01:09 Culture Creates The Atmosphere That Emotion Breathes 16:11 We Want To Make Heaven Crowded And Angels Tired 22:05 Witnessing Heart Postures In Worship 25:17 Rodrigo Joins The Show! B&R #036 | The Importance Of Culture (Part 1)
2026/07/31
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Jordan, Titus, and Mark discuss the story of the prodigal son and the celebration that takes place when someone who was lost finally comes home. Jesus describes a father who welcomes his son with open arms, restores him, and throws a celebration in his honor. But while the father rejoices, the older brother refuses to join the party. Instead of celebrating his brother’s life change, he focuses on resentment, comparison, and everything he believes is unfair. As believers, we are called to celebrate when lost people encounter Jesus. Yet it is possible to become so focused on preferences, frustrations, or what we think should have happened that we miss the movement of God taking place right in front of us. The conversation connects this truth to Genesis Metro’s Summer Soundtrack series and the song “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Despite the band’s success, conflict was growing behind the scenes. The sun was shining, but they were still looking at the rain. That idea raises an important question for every church, family, and organization: Are we creating a culture that celebrates what God is doing, or are we always searching for the rain? Culture is shaped by what we emphasize, what we tolerate, and what we choose to celebrate. When souls are being saved and lives are being changed, we should be the first people at the party. This is Part 1 of our conversation on the importance of culture.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 01:54 Have You Ever Seen The Rain? 04:47 What Kind Of Culture Do You Want? 18:45 Your Atmosphere Affects You   👍 Like, Comment, and Subscribe for more real conversations about faith, life, culture, and the stories that shape us. 🔔 Turn on notifications so you never miss an episode of Bourne & Raised. 👇 JOIN THE CONVERSATION: What kind of culture do you want to live in?   Support the Show: (select fund PODCAST SPONSORSHIP) https://www.kindridgiving.com/app/Form/78ad43d8-65e8-4c98-adee-ddea14e23587 FOR BUSINESS AND SPONSORSHIP INQUIRIES: [email protected]   📱 STAY CONNECTED: ▶️ Subscribe on YouTube 📸 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bourneandra... 🌐 Learn more at: https://www.genesismetro.org/

B&R #034 | Does Secular Music Belong In Church?
2026/07/18
This week on Bourne & Raised, Tim, Jordan, and Titus unpack the vision behind Genesis Metro Church's newest sermon series, Summer Soundtrack. In this unique series, a secular song is played between worship and the sermon, serving as a bridge into a biblical message rooted in Scripture. The goal isn't to celebrate the music itself, but to meet people where they are, earn a hearing, and point them to Jesus through the truth found in God's Word. The conversation also addresses one of the biggest questions surrounding the series: Should secular music ever have a place in church? Tim, Jordan, and Titus respond to common concerns from Christians who believe the answer is no, discussing the difference between endorsing culture and redeeming opportunities to reach people. They explore the biblical principle of becoming "all things to all people" without compromising the truth of the gospel, and why building bridges can create opportunities for life change. Whether you agree with the approach or have questions about it, this episode is an honest conversation about evangelism, wisdom, and how the Church can faithfully engage the culture without being shaped by it.   CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro 00:44 What Is Summer Soundtrack? 06:37 Addressing Common Concerns 24:42 Life Change From Summer Soundtrack   👍 Like, Comment, and Subscribe for more conversations about faith, leadership, and the story of what God is doing through Genesis Metro. 🔔 Turn on notifications so you never miss the next chapter of The Origin Of Genesis Metro. 👇 JOIN THE CONVERSATION: Has God ever spoken to you through something in the world?   Support the Show: (select fund PODCAST SPONSORSHIP) https://www.kindridgiving.com/app/Form/78ad43d8-65e8-4c98-adee-ddea14e23587 FOR BUSINESS AND SPONSORSHIP INQUIRIES: [email protected]   📱 STAY CONNECTED: ▶️ Subscribe on YouTube 📸 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bourneandra... 🌐 Learn more at: https://www.genesismetro.org/
