Why Did Satan Tempt Eve but Paul Point to Adam?
2026/10/23
Why did Satan approach Eve instead of Adam in the Garden of Eden? And if Eve ate the forbidden fruit first, why does Paul say sin entered the world through Adam?
In this episode of Q&A with Pastor Charlie, we continue answering questions from Genesis 3 by exploring the serpent's strategy, the deception of Eve, and Adam's responsibility for humanity's fall. Pastor Charlie considers how the order of creation, God's command to Adam, and the nature of deception might help us understand what happened in the garden.
We also turn to Romans 5 and 1 Timothy 2 to examine an important distinction: Eve was deceived, but Adam knowingly chose to disobey. What does that mean for our understanding of original sin, human responsibility, and the sinful tendencies we all recognize in ourselves?
Finally, we explore Paul's comparison between Adam and Jesus. Through Adam came sin and death, but through Christ comes new life and hope.

Did Eve Sin Before Eating the Forbidden Fruit?
2026/10/16
In Genesis 3, Eve tells the serpent that God commanded them not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, or even touch it. But there's something interesting about her response: God never explicitly said they couldn't touch it.
So was Eve already sinning by adding to God's command? Or was something else happening in the Garden of Eden?
In this episode of Q&A with Pastor Charlie, we explore this often overlooked detail in Genesis and consider what Scripture actually identifies as Eve's first sin. Along the way, we discuss the difference between temptation and sin, how sinful desires affect our hearts, and why resisting temptation matters in our everyday walk with Christ.
Was Eve's sin in her thoughts, her words, or her actions? And what can her story teach us about recognizing and resisting temptation today?

Is the “Us” in Genesis the Trinity or the Divine Council?
2026/10/09
Who is God talking to when He says, “Let us make mankind in our image” in Genesis 1? And who is He talking to when He says, “Let us go down and confuse their language” in Genesis 11?
Is this simply a reference to the Trinity, or does the Old Testament give us a glimpse into something called the divine council, a heavenly assembly of created spiritual beings who serve God?
In this episode of Q&A with Pastor Charlie, we explore the biblical picture of God’s heavenly realm, looking at passages from Genesis, Psalms, Job, Isaiah, and 1 Kings. We talk about the sons of God, the heavenly host, angels, and the divine council, and how these passages help us understand what is happening in the spiritual realm.
Ultimately, how should we understand the “us” in Genesis? And how does the New Testament give us a fuller picture of the Trinity and Christ’s role in creation?
As we continue through Genesis, this conversation lays the groundwork for some of the strange and fascinating spiritual beings we’ll encounter later in the biblical story.
Why Was Satan Allowed in the Garden?
2026/10/02
Why was the serpent allowed in the Garden of Eden if the garden was a holy place where God dwelled with Adam and Eve?
In this episode of Q&A with Pastor Charlie, we take a closer look at the serpent in Genesis 3 and what he was doing in the garden. Was the serpent simply a snake, or was he a divine being already present in God's sacred space?
We also explore why God would allow the serpent to tempt Adam and Eve, the connection between testing and temptation, and how human choice fits within God's sovereignty.
What does the story of Job teach us about how God allows testing to strengthen our faith?
Join us as we dig deeper into Genesis 3 and consider why the serpent was there, what he was trying to accomplish, and what this ancient story teaches us about temptation, faith, and our relationship with God.
120 Years? Nakedness? Noah and Adam?
2026/09/25
What do the 120 years in Genesis 6 actually mean? And why was Ham cursed after seeing his father Noah naked?
In this episode of Q&A with Pastor Charlie, we explore two questions surrounding Noah’s story, one from the beginning and one from the end. We look at the two primary interpretations of the 120 years mentioned in Genesis 6 and consider why the context may point toward the time leading up to the flood.
Then we turn to the strange and often misunderstood account of Noah, Ham, Shem, and Japheth in Genesis 9. What exactly happened when Ham saw his father naked? And why does this story matter for the larger story of Genesis?
Finally, we look at a surprising connection between Noah and Adam and how both stories point to the same reality: even the people Scripture presents as faithful are still broken and in need of redemption. Ultimately, the story points us beyond Noah to Jesus, the one true hero of Scripture.

How Did Humanity Grow So Quickly in Genesis?
2026/09/18
In this episode, Pastor Charlie walks through several ways Christians have understood the early population of humanity and why the Genesis account may not be as chronological or detailed as we often assume.
From Adam and Eve’s long lifespans to the rapid growth of Israel in Egypt, we’ll look at what Scripture tells us, what it leaves unclear, and how we can learn to read Genesis according to the way it was written.

If Jesus Celebrated Jewish Holidays, Why Don’t Christians?
2026/09/11
If Jesus celebrated the Jewish feasts and festivals, why don’t Christians celebrate them today?
In this episode of the Q&A with Pastor Charlie Podcast, we look at the Old Testament feasts and why God gave them to Israel. We talk about Jesus’ relationship to the Jewish traditions, the difference between the Old and New Covenants, and what it means that Jesus came to fulfill the law.
We also take a closer look at two major Jewish celebrations, the Day of Atonement and Passover, and how both point us to the finished work of Jesus Christ.
The feasts and sacrifices were pointing forward to something greater. Jesus is the greater sacrifice, the greater High Priest, and the fulfillment of what God had promised.
Listen in as we explore what the Jewish feasts teach us about God, Jesus, and the New Covenant.
Was Adam There When Eve Ate the Fruit?
2026/09/04
Was Adam standing beside Eve when she was tempted by the serpent? It's a common assumption, but does Genesis 3 actually say that? Pastor Charlie takes a closer look at the passage and explains why he believes we should be careful about calling Adam “passive” in the Garden.
Then, we explore another fascinating Genesis question: Did the Fall cause thorns and thistles to appear? This conversation is a reminder that studying Scripture requires wisdom, discernment, humility, and a willingness to distinguish between what the Bible clearly says and what we assume it says.
What is the Ancient Near East Cosmological View of Creation?
2026/08/28
What if we're asking Genesis questions that its original audience wasn't asking?
Pastor Charlie shares how his understanding of Genesis 1–3 has changed over the years and explains why he increasingly finds the Ancient Near East cosmological view compelling. We look at the cultural world surrounding Genesis, how Moses may have been correcting the creation beliefs of Egypt and Mesopotamia, and why Genesis may be communicating something much bigger than the age of the earth.
This episode is an invitation to slow down, consider the context, and ask what Genesis was actually trying to tell its first audience.
What Did God Create in Genesis 1? The Historical Creation View
2026/08/21
What if Genesis 1 is telling us more than simply how God created the universe?
In this episode of Q&A with Pastor Charlie, we take a closer look at the Historical Creation view of Genesis 1 and explore how the Hebrew words for “land” and “skies” may shape the way we understand the passage.
Rather than focusing only on the question of how long creation took, this view asks us to consider the larger story of Scripture: God creating a place for humanity to dwell with Him, from Eden to the Promised Land and beyond.
We’ll walk through Genesis 1, consider its connection to the rest of the Pentateuch, and explore why understanding the original context of the text matters when interpreting Scripture.
If you've ever wondered how Christians can faithfully read Genesis 1 in different ways, this conversation is a great place to start.
How Does the Trinity Work? Father, Son & Holy Spirit
2026/08/14
The Trinity is one of the most important and most difficult doctrines of the Christian faith. What does it actually mean when we say that God is one God who eternally exists in three distinct persons?
In this episode of Q&A with Pastor Charlie, we take a closer look at the Trinity and unpack the difference between the ontological Trinity and the economic Trinity. What do these terms mean, and how do they help us understand who God is and how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work?
We also explore how the Trinity is revealed throughout Scripture, from creation to the baptism of Jesus to the work of salvation, and discuss how this understanding fits within historic Southern Baptist theology and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
The Trinity may be difficult to fully comprehend, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't seek to understand it. Join us as we dig deeper into one of the foundational truths of Christianity.
Light Before the Sun? | Exploring Genesis 1
2026/08/07
How could there be evening and morning before God created the sun, moon, and stars?
In this episode, Pastor Charlie explores several historic Christian views on Genesis 1, discusses what Moses was communicating to Israel, and explains why the central message of creation isn't lost even when Christians disagree on some of the details.
Whether you've wondered about the days of creation, the light before the sun, or how to interpret Genesis faithfully, this conversation will help you think carefully while keeping your focus on the Creator.
Is the Rapture Biblical?
2026/07/31
Is the rapture real? Why do faithful Christians disagree about it?
In this episode, Pastor Charlie explores one of the most discussed topics in Christian theology: the rapture and the return of Christ. He explains the major biblical views, why sincere believers interpret certain passages differently, and why humility is essential when discussing end times.
Rather than focusing on division, this conversation highlights the truths all orthodox Christians share: Jesus will return, evil will be defeated, believers will be with Christ forever, and our hope rests in Him, not in having every prophetic detail figured out.
Whether you've always believed in a pre-tribulation rapture or you're simply curious about what the Bible teaches, this episode offers a thoughtful, biblical starting point.
Is Melchizedek a Pre-Incarnate Appearance of Christ?
2026/07/24
Who was Melchizedek, and could he have been a pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus?
In this episode, Pastor Charlie explores one of the Bible's most intriguing figures found in Genesis 14 and Hebrews 7. While Scripture doesn't give every answer about Melchizedek's identity, it clearly reveals how he points us to Jesus Christ, our perfect King and High Priest.
Along the way, Pastor Charlie explains why Christians should avoid becoming consumed with speculation and instead focus on the clear truths God has revealed in His Word. Whether you're curious about Melchizedek or want to understand better how the Old Testament points to Christ, this episode will deepen your appreciation for God's unfolding plan of redemption.
How Should Christians Read Genesis?
2026/07/17
As our upcoming Genesis sermon series approaches, Pastor Charlie lays the foundation for how Christians should study one of the Bible's most fascinating and debated books. Instead of chasing speculation or assuming we have every answer, this episode explores why humility, faith, and careful attention to Scripture are essential when reading Genesis.
Whether you've studied Genesis for years or are opening it for the first time, this conversation will help you prepare to engage God's Word with an open mind and a deeper appreciation for what the Bible actually says.
