Ep 17: Creating Theatre in Education
2026/08/31
Welcome back to The Theatre Mum. On episode 17, we're joined by creative catalyst and first-time playwright, Suzanne Pearson. After heading back into education to study Performance Making at Central School of Speech and Drama and now embarking on an MA in Creative Practice, Suzanne is now creating The Babushka Project. Starting as an autobiographical play that's about to have its first rehearsed reading, the project is growing into something bigger; a theatre-led TIE initiative exploring the lifelong impact of childhood bullying, the stories adults still carry and the ways schools and communities can listen differently. We chat about being a mature student, readjusting to a late neurodiversity diagnosis, writing processes and producing a rehearsed reading, plans for interactive workshops for teachers and school staff, Edinburgh Fringe goals, and somehow get on to mosquitoes... It's jam-packed with honesty, facts and frivolity - not necessarily in that order.  Content warning: Moderate swearing Follow The Theatre Mum on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetheatremum/ Follow Suzanne Pearson on: Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kindnessinmotion/ Follow Kindness in Motion and The Babushka Project here: Website: https://www.kindnessinmotion.co.uk Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebabushkaprojectuk
