Preacher: Scott Hollingshead Text: Acts 2:22-41 Big Idea: The gospel is the announcement of what God has done to save sinners through Christ’s life, death, resurrection, and ascension.  Who is this Jesus?   1. Preacher: Dave Harvey Text: John 12:37-43 We chase what we love. We are pursuers. We go after things we value. “He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness…there will be wrath and fury (Rom 2: 6-8). The glory that comes from God is FIRST a Person. “How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from God?” John 5: 44 The glory that comes from God demands our pursuit! What does this mean for your ambition for your 50th anniversary? We stoke our ambition for mission!  “..from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else's foundation” Romans 15:19-20   “A man is said to be magnanimous chiefly because he is minded to do some great act.” For the local church to be healthy, it must have an ambition for something outside of itself. "No local church can afford to go without the encouragement and nourishment that will come to it by sending away its best people." John Piper
