In this episode we look at the depressing milk price reports from January, then look ahead at what to expect from Tuesday's WASDE report. We end up with more depressed news from Wall Street as tension grows around investments in the AI industry. 

Today we have a special edition of Chat BDC. I'm at NCBA's CattleCon event and I had the chance to talk with Terrel Platt, market analyst with CattleFax. Terrel gives some great insight into the current market situation and what cow calf producers and feedlot owners can expect going into 2026, and how demand will affect it all.

We start off looking at dairy export numbers and the surging exports of cheese and butter to help offset the rise in production. We then turn to the beef market and take a look at slaughter numbers through this year compared to last. Long story short, slaughter numbers and beef production are down significantly from last year, even though cattle are still getting bigger. We wrap up with a look at AI stocks where it's coming down to opportunities to turn profits with all of the investments. 

We start with a look at what happened to dairy demand when the big storm hit the U.S. a few weeks ago. Then we review what Iowa farmers said to a USDA trade representative during a recent visit, and end with the falloff in gold, silver and other commodities on news of the potential new Fed chair.

Well there's a DMC payment coming from the train wreck that is dairy producer margins, and expect more to come in 2026. We also talk about the continued decline in beef cow numbers, but a potential bright spot in heifer retention numbers. We wrap up with a look at the potential new Fed chair.

Today we offer a report on the speech delivered by IDFA President Michael Dykes at the Dairy Forum this week. We also look at how the declining dollar is impacting ag markets, and how a drop in tech stock valuations affected Wall Street.

Today we take a look at dairy cow slaughter rates and how it's impacting cow numbers. We also report on President Trump's comments about E15, and the news around the Fed leaving interest rates alone.

The latest USDA milk production report is out and, shocking, milk production continues to scream upward. More cows, more milk per cow drives the increase. In beef news, the cold weather likely slowed the drive of the Newworld Screwworm toward the US. And on Wall Street the S&P 500 had another record day.

Today we talk about the impact of having whole milk in schools will do to demand and eventually prices, then take a look at commodity markets. Finally we dive into President Trump's update on activities relating to Greenland.
