Description
Dead Air Theater lives in the dark between spaces, where monsters breathe and impossible things feel briefly, dangerously real. Most stories stand alone, drifting from the monstrous and the haunted to the strange, the speculative, and the quietly unsettling. Eldritch entities, broken futures, small-town horrors, and eerie bedtime stories all share the same spaces.A few threads do run deeper for those who listen closely. Some stories echo, some return, and some, The Marble Tales in particular, reward a careful ear, but no map is required to step inside.https://linktr.ee/edwardbakervo Hosted on Acast. 91. One Thousand Cuts for the Dead
2026/10/10
Tonight’s marble carries the stench of blood, burning flesh, the desperation of a man pushed beyond reason, and a question:
How much must something die before it stays dead?
Do settle in. I do hope you enjoy the show.

90. Three
2026/10/03
NINE ZERO. That's pretty wild, isn't it? Episode 90!
Collector - Somnambulist's Gallery - Recursion is much too long of a name, so three it is! 😁
First and foremost, a genuine thank you to everyone who's stopped by the Patreon and decided to support this weird little theater of mine. It really does mean a lot. And if there's ever anything you'd like to see, something you need, or even just a suggestion you'd like to throw my way, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm more than happy to oblige where I can.
In the meantime, enjoy Episode 90!
And next week... the theater will take us to Japan!
Mind the aisles, everyone.

88. Grey Man
2026/09/19
Grey Man is short and not so sweet. The story, not the man. I hear he's actually quite tall.
See you next week If I don't see you 'round patreon for early ad free episodes!
Episode specific question: You ever feel like our man Ryan here? How do you push through and continue?
I, bury myself in more work until the exhaustion fills me so completely that there is no more room inside for silly things like doubt and fear. Only more work. Then, I sleep the sleep of the dead...for like, 3hrs. 😅

87. Whims Tale
2026/09/12
More problems with the marble! but our host is prepared.
Mr. Whim himself actually started life as part of a novel I was writing.
And, eventually, I finished that novel. The problem was that, by the time I got there, I realized it was very, very similar to IT, which I really didn't like.
The basic idea was that Whim was an eldritch being of immense power and incredible naivety. He ran a strange circus filled with green fire, tentacles, halls of mirrors, cotton-candy monsters and all the other sorts of things you'd expect to find in the worst possible circus imaginable. Ultimately, he was undone by the children who survived him, grew up, and eventually came back looking for his circus.
It was fun. I saw the whole thing through to a conclusion. But once I stepped back from it, I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd written something that had already been written.
Then DAT started taking shape.
As the episodes progressed, the host character very naturally became Mr. Whim in my mind, or at least a representation of him, and eventually another idea started clawing its way into my head.
What if I didn't need to write the novel?
What if I didn't need twenty-three chapters explaining exactly what happened, where they came from, what terrible thing happened to them when they were nine years old, and precisely how all of it fits together?
What if I could just imply that there is a larger story?
A little connective tissue here. A strange detail there. Something that suggests there's a much bigger world behind the story you're actually listening to, without having to drag you through the whole thing.
And that's probably what I'm enjoying most about Whim now. I get to take all the things I liked about that old idea and leave the parts that felt too familiar behind.
This particular story has actually been finished for a couple of weeks now. After last week's little explosion, I decided I wanted to change the opening as well as the body but I simply haven't had the time this week.
So it is what it is.
I have a couple of stories for next week rattling around in my head, a couple that are already recorded, and one that's been sent off to my favorite sound guy around...which is going to be absolutely insane when I get it back.
I'm also working on three audiobooks with the daily grind, so we'll see what we see.
Anyway, I hope you're well.
I'll catch you soon.

86. Play for Keeps
2026/09/05
Two old friends have been playing marbles together in the park every Saturday for years, usually with a small group of neighborhood kids gathered around to play.
Then they come across something that, by now, should probably be familiar.
A black marble.
I wrote this story quite a while ago, and recorded it A while ago. Now that I’ve finally put the whole thing together, there are definitely some things I’d change if I were writing it today. But, honestly, I still really love this story and what I was trying to do with it.
It’s slow. It’s deliberately pedantic. There’s a lot of detail on things that don't really matter, short conversation, and a lot of time spent simply being with Arthur. I wanted the story to move at the pace that felt right for them.
I truly hope you enjoy it and thank you for being here!

85. Flesh
2026/08/29
A late night food order turns into a nightmare..or not?
This episode it wet and because it is wet, I'm warning you that it is wet. If wet sounds bother you, it may be like nails on a chalk board for a bit. I did try and keep it minimal though. The bonus for me is that I didn't need to edit out every mouth noise because their indistinguishable from the WET!
