🎙️ C.4 — Implementar procedimientos de enseñanza naturalista | RBT 3.ª Edición
2026/08/31
A. Análisis funcionalB. Enseñanza naturalistaC. ExtinciónD. DTT 🎯 Respuesta: B — Enseñanza Naturalista ¿Por qué? Actividad natural + motivación existente + respuesta funcional + reforzador naturalmente relacionado. 🎙️ C.4 — Implement Naturalistic Teaching Procedures | RBT 3rd Edition
2026/08/30
Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. We continue Section C with: 🎯 C.4. Implement naturalistic teaching procedures (e.g., incidental teaching, natural environment training). The BIG idea: 🧠 Naturalistic teaching uses naturally occurring activities, motivation, and opportunities to teach skills. Instead of always creating highly structured trials, the RBT takes advantage of what is already happening in the learner’s environment. Think: 🌎 Real environment + Natural motivation + Teaching opportunity 🌱 NATURAL ENVIRONMENT TRAINING — NET Natural Environment Training (NET) teaches skills within everyday activities and environments using naturally occurring motivation and reinforcers. Example: A child wants bubbles. Instead of simply giving them the bubbles, the RBT uses the opportunity to teach an appropriate request: Child reaches for bubbles. RBT: “What do you want?” Child: “Bubbles.” RBT immediately gives the bubbles. 🎯 The learner wanted bubbles BEFORE the teaching opportunity. The reinforcer is directly related to the response. 🔑 Exam clue: Natural activity + learner motivation + naturally related reinforcement = NET 💡 INCIDENTAL TEACHING Incidental teaching takes advantage of naturally occurring opportunities, often initiated by the learner’s interest. Example: A favorite toy is visible but out of reach. The learner approaches or shows interest. The RBT uses that moment to encourage a more appropriate or complex communication response. Learner: “Car.” RBT: “What do you want?” Learner: “I want the car.” RBT gives the car. 🎯 The learner’s interest created the teaching opportunity. 🚨 DTT vs. NATURALISTIC TEACHING This is an important exam distinction. DTT: 📋 More structured🎯 Planned trials🪑 Often arranged teaching opportunities🔄 Clear beginning and end to each trial Naturalistic Teaching: 🌎 Embedded in everyday activities💡 Uses naturally occurring opportunities❤️ Often incorporates current motivation🎁 Reinforcement is naturally connected to the activity 🚨 EXAM TRAP: Naturalistic does NOT mean unplanned or “just playing.” The RBT is still teaching intentionally, following the client’s program and collecting data as required. 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE A learner is playing with a train set and notices that a preferred train is inside a closed container. The learner reaches toward it. The RBT uses the opportunity to prompt an appropriate request. After the learner requests “train,” the RBT immediately gives access to it. Which teaching approach is MOST likely being used? A. Functional analysisB. Naturalistic teachingC. ExtinctionD. Discrete-trial teaching 🎯 Answer: B — Naturalistic Teaching Why? Natural activity + existing motivation + functional response + naturally related reinforcer. 🚨 RBT ROLE When implementing naturalistic teaching, the RBT should: ✔️ Follow the established teaching plan✔️ Identify relevant natural opportunities✔️ Use the learner’s current motivation appropriately✔️ Prompt according to the protocol✔️ Reinforce target responses as programmed✔️ Collect accurate data✔️ Promote independence and generalization 💎 BEHAVIORAL INTELLIGENCE TAKEAWAY For the exam, recognize the pattern: 📋 Structured teaching trials → Think DTT 🌎 Teaching embedded in real activities → Think Naturalistic Teaching ❤️ Learner interest creates an opportunity → Think Incidental Teaching 🌱 Natural environment + motivation + naturally related reinforcement → Think NET And remember: 🚨 Naturalistic teaching is still systematic teaching. The environment may feel natural, but the RBT is intentionally creating or capturing opportunities for learning. 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we master the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter.
RBT → “¡Muy bien!” + entrega el reforzador programado. Breve pausa. Siguiente ensayo. 🎙️ C.3 — Implement Discrete-Trial Teaching Procedures | RBT 3rd Edition
2026/08/28
Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. We continue Section C with: 🎯 C.3. Implement discrete-trial teaching procedures. Discrete-Trial Teaching, commonly called DTT, is a structured teaching method in which skills are broken into clear, teachable units called trials. Think: 🧠 Clear instruction → Response → Consequence → Repeat 🔬 WHAT DOES A DISCRETE TRIAL LOOK LIKE? A typical trial includes several components: 1️⃣ Antecedent / SD The RBT presents a clear instruction or stimulus. Example: 👉 “Touch red.” 2️⃣ Learner Response The learner responds to the instruction. 👉 The learner touches the red card. 3️⃣ Consequence The RBT responds according to the teaching protocol. Correct response → reinforcement may be delivered. Incorrect response → the established error-correction procedure may be implemented. 4️⃣ Intertrial Interval A brief pause occurs before beginning the next trial. Then…the next learning opportunity begins! 🧠 RECOGNIZE THE PATTERN Imagine: RBT: “Point to the dog.” Learner points to the dog. RBT: “Great job!” + delivers the programmed reinforcer. Brief pause. Next trial. 🎯 That structured sequence should immediately make you think: DTT — Discrete-Trial Teaching 🚨 EXAM TRAP: DTT ≠ JUST REPEATING QUESTIONS DTT is systematic. The RBT must follow the established teaching procedure, including: ✔️ Presenting the SD correctly✔️ Providing prompts when programmed✔️ Reinforcing according to the plan✔️ Using error correction as specified✔️ Recording accurate data✔️ Following the appropriate intertrial interval Simply asking the same question repeatedly is not automatically DTT. 🆘 WHAT ABOUT PROMPTS? A learner may not initially respond independently. Example: RBT: “Touch blue.” The learner does not respond. The RBT provides the programmed prompt. The goal is not permanent dependence on prompts. As the learner develops the skill, prompts may be systematically faded according to the treatment protocol to transfer stimulus control to the appropriate stimulus. 🚨 EXAM TRAP: The RBT should not randomly add, remove, or change prompts. Follow the established procedure. ❌ ERROR CORRECTION What if the learner makes an incorrect response? The RBT does NOT simply say: ❌ “No! Wrong!” Instead, the RBT follows the established error-correction procedure. Depending on the program, this may involve providing the appropriate prompt and another opportunity to respond correctly. 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE An RBT says, “Show me the spoon.” The learner selects the spoon. The RBT immediately provides praise and a token, records the response, waits briefly, and begins the next trial. Which teaching procedure is being implemented? A. Free-operant preference assessmentB. Discrete-trial teachingC. Functional analysisD. Extinction 🎯 Answer: B — Discrete-Trial Teaching Look for the pattern: Instruction → Response → Consequence → Brief interval → Next trial 💎 BEHAVIORAL INTELLIGENCE TAKEAWAY For the exam, remember: 📣 SD/Instruction⬇️👤 Learner Response⬇️🎯 Consequence⬇️⏱️ Intertrial Interval⬇️🔄 Next Trial And remember: 🚨 Structured does NOT mean robotic. The RBT implements DTT consistently while following the individualized teaching protocol and responding appropriately to the learner. 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we master the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter. 🎙️ C.2 — Implementar procedimientos para establecer y utilizar reforzadores condicionados | RBT 3.ª Edición
2026/08/27
Reforzadores condicionadosC. Operaciones motivadorasD. Castigadores 🎯 Respuesta: B — Reforzadores condicionados ¿Por qué? 🎙️ C.2 — Implement Procedures to Establish and Use Conditioned Reinforcers | RBT 3rd Edition
2026/08/26
Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. We continue Section C: Behavior Acquisition with: 🎯 C.2. Implement procedures to establish and use conditioned reinforcers. Here’s the big idea: 🧠 A conditioned reinforcer becomes reinforcing through learning. Unlike an unconditioned reinforcer, which does not require a learning history, a conditioned reinforcer acquires its reinforcing value through being paired with other reinforcers. 🧠 CONDITIONED vs. UNCONDITIONED Unconditioned Reinforcers do not depend on prior learning for their reinforcing properties. Examples may include: ✔️ Food✔️ Water✔️ Warmth Conditioned Reinforcers acquire their reinforcing effectiveness through learning. Examples may include: ✔️ Tokens✔️ Praise✔️ Points✔️ Stickers✔️ Money 🔑 Exam clue: If something acquired reinforcing value through learning or pairing → think CONDITIONED REINFORCER. 🔗 HOW DO WE ESTABLISH ONE? Imagine a token initially means nothing to a learner. The RBT repeatedly pairs the token with access to already effective reinforcers. Token → paired with effective reinforcer Over time, the token may acquire reinforcing properties. Now the learner completes a target response → receives a token → tokens can later be exchanged for preferred items or activities. 🎯 The previously neutral stimulus has become a conditioned reinforcer. 💰 TOKEN ECONOMY A common application is a token economy. Example: Complete a task → earn a token. Earn 5 tokens → exchange them for a preferred activity. The tokens function as conditioned reinforcers when they have acquired reinforcing value through their relationship with backup reinforcers. 🚨 EXAM TRAP: A token is not automatically reinforcing just because we call it a “token.” Its function depends on the learner’s history and whether it actually increases behavior. 🌟 GENERALIZED CONDITIONED REINFORCERS Some conditioned reinforcers are associated with multiple backup reinforcers. These are called generalized conditioned reinforcers. 💵 Money is the classic example because it can be exchanged for many different things. Tokens may also become generalized conditioned reinforcers when exchangeable for a variety of backup reinforcers. 🚨 RBT ROLE The RBT follows the established reinforcement procedure. This may include: ✔️ Pairing stimuli according to protocol✔️ Delivering tokens or points contingently✔️ Following exchange requirements✔️ Providing backup reinforcers as specified✔️ Collecting accurate data✔️ Monitoring whether the procedure is being implemented correctly The RBT should not independently change token requirements, exchange rates, or reinforcement procedures without authorization. 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE A learner initially shows no interest in earning stars. The RBT consistently pairs stars with access to preferred activities. Eventually, the learner completes tasks to earn stars. The stars have most likely become: A. Unconditioned reinforcersB. Conditioned reinforcersC. Establishing operationsD. Punishers 🎯 Answer: B — Conditioned Reinforcers Why? Initially neutral → paired with reinforcement → acquires reinforcing value. 💎 BEHAVIORAL INTELLIGENCE TAKEAWAY Remember the pattern: 🧠 No learning history required → Unconditioned Reinforcer 🔗 Value acquired through learning → Conditioned Reinforcer 🌟 Associated with multiple reinforcers → Generalized Conditioned Reinforcer And the exam trap: 🚨 Don’t identify reinforcement by what something looks like. Identify it by its EFFECT ON BEHAVIOR. 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we master the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter. 🎙️ C.1 — Implementar procedimientos de reforzamiento positivo y negativo | RBT 3.ª Edición
2026/08/25
A. Castigo positivoB. Castigo negativoC. Reforzamiento positivoD. Extinción 🎯 Respuesta: C — Reforzamiento positivo ¿Por qué? Pedir ayuda → ayuda AÑADIDA → pedir ayuda aumenta.
No modifica intencionalmente ninguna variable. ¿Qué procedimiento está realizando? A. Análisis funcionalB. 🎙️ C.1 — Implement Positive and Negative Reinforcement Procedures | RBT 3rd Edition
2026/08/24
Welcome to Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez, presented by Amethyst Therapy Services — where we turn RBT exam concepts into patterns you can recognize, remember, and apply. We begin Section C: Behavior Acquisition with: 🎯 C.1. Implement positive and negative reinforcement procedures (e.g., immediately, contingently, according to schedules of reinforcement) along a continuum of dimensions (e.g., magnitude, intensity, variety). Let’s start with the MOST important rule: 🧠 REINFORCEMENT = BEHAVIOR INCREASES IN THE FUTURE. If the behavior does not increase, you cannot conclude that reinforcement occurred. ➕ POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT Something is ADDED following a behavior, and that behavior increases in the future. Example: A learner appropriately requests a break → receives praise and 5 minutes with a preferred activity → appropriate requesting increases. Behavior → Something ADDED → Behavior increases 🔑 Positive = ADD Positive does NOT mean “good.” ➖ NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT Something is REMOVED, REDUCED, or POSTPONED following a behavior, and that behavior increases in the future. Example: A learner appropriately requests a break → a difficult task is temporarily removed → appropriate break requests increase. Behavior → Something AVERSIVE removed → Behavior increases 🔑 Negative = REMOVE 🚨 EXAM TRAP: Negative reinforcement is NOT punishment. Both positive and negative reinforcement INCREASE behavior. 🚨 THREE DETAILS MATTER 1️⃣ Immediately When appropriate to the procedure, reinforcement should occur promptly after the target behavior so the contingency is clear. Long delays may accidentally strengthen another behavior. 2️⃣ Contingently The reinforcer is delivered because the target behavior occurred, according to the treatment protocol. Think: 👉 If behavior X occurs → consequence Y follows. 3️⃣ According to the Schedule Reinforcement may not always occur after every response. The RBT must implement the assigned schedule of reinforcement accurately. Examples include: ✔️ Continuous reinforcement✔️ Fixed Ratio✔️ Variable Ratio✔️ Fixed Interval✔️ Variable Interval 🚨 The RBT follows the established schedule rather than changing it independently. 🎚️ REINFORCEMENT EXISTS ALONG DIMENSIONS Reinforcement can vary in: Magnitude: How much? One minute with a preferred activity vs. ten minutes. Intensity: How strong? A quiet “good job” versus more enthusiastic praise, when appropriate for the learner. Variety: How many different effective options? Praise, activities, games, attention, tokens, or other identified reinforcers. The appropriate dimension depends on the individual and the established intervention. 🧩 EXAM CHALLENGE Every time a learner independently asks for help, the RBT immediately provides assistance. Over time, independent help requests increase. What occurred? A. Positive punishmentB. Negative punishmentC. Positive reinforcementD. Extinction 🎯 Answer: C — Positive Reinforcement Why? Help request → assistance ADDED → help requesting increases. 💎 BEHAVIORAL INTELLIGENCE TAKEAWAY For the exam, ask TWO questions: 1. Did behavior increase? YES → Think REINFORCEMENT. 2. What happened to the stimulus? ➕ Added → Positive Reinforcement ➖ Removed → Negative Reinforcement Then check implementation: ⏱️ Immediately🎯 Contingently📊 According to the schedule🎚️ Correct magnitude, intensity, and variety 🚨 Never forget: Positive ≠ good. Negative ≠ bad. In ABA: Positive = ADDNegative = REMOVEReinforcement = INCREASE behavior 🎧 Follow Behavioral Intelligence with Mara Sánchez as we master the RBT 3rd Edition, one task-list item at a time. 💜 Presented by Amethyst Therapy Services Study smarter.
