Recap: Fever's Season Ends in Las Vegas With Loss to Aces — Offense Not Enough
2026/10/02
The Indiana Fever’s 2026 season came to an end Thursday night in Las Vegas with a 94-83 loss to the Aces in Game 3. Indiana stayed within striking distance for much of the night, but Las Vegas created separation in the second and fourth quarters and finished with a 14-point advantage at the free-throw line. The Fever were also held to 38.5% shooting. The Fever's Big Three accounted for 60 of the team’s 83 points. Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 23 points, Aliyah Boston added 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Caitlin Clark finished with 18. A’ja Wilson was the difference-maker for Las Vegas, scoring a game-high 36 points. Chelsea Gray added 23, while Jackie Young finished with 18 as both Aces guards played all 40 minutes. The Fever now head home with their season over, while Las Vegas advances to Round 2, which begins Sunday. ----- Follow Scott on Twitter and Instagram, and read his work on fieldhousefiles.com.
Recap: Caitlin Clark's Brilliance Powers Fever Past Aces to Force Game 3
2026/09/30
The Indiana Fever kept their season alive with a 99-89 Game 2 win over the Las Vegas Aces, erasing an 11-point deficit and responding with the kind of edge and intensity they needed. Indiana used a 24-6 run in the second quarter to take the lead for good and never gave it back. Caitlin Clark led the way with 27 points, seven rebounds and 15 assists, while the Fever’s Big Three combined for 75 points after totaling just 45 in Game 1. Jackie Young led all scorers with 31 points, but this night belonged to the Fever. Now it all comes down to Thursday in Las Vegas, where Indiana and the Aces will play a decisive Game 3 with the season on the line. ----- Follow Scott on Twitter and Instagram, and read his work on fieldhousefiles.com.

Recap: Aces Overwhelm Fever in Game 1 Behind A'ja Wilson — Game 2 In Less Than 48 Hours
2026/09/27
The Indiana Fever dropped Game 1 of their best-of-three playoff series to the Las Vegas Aces, 102-85, after the game got away from them in the second quarter. The score was tied at 36 before Las Vegas took control. The Aces shot 59% from the field, forced 17 turnovers and led by as many as 27 points. It was their third loss in four games, all by at least 16 points. A’ja Wilson dominated with 38 points and 16 rebounds. Caitlin Clark, playing in her first playoff game in two years, finished with 15 points and 10 assists as Las Vegas made things difficult for her and the Fever throughout the night. Aliyah Boston scored 18 points, while Raven Johnson provided 14 off the bench. There’s little time to dwell on it. Game 2 is Tuesday in Indianapolis, less than 48 hours after Game 1 ended, with the Fever needing a win to extend the series. ----- Follow Scott on Twitter and Instagram, and read his work on fieldhousefiles.com.
Recap: Fever's Worst Night of the Season Comes at the Worst Time — 20-Point Loss in Minnesota
2026/09/25
Nothing went right for the Indiana Fever in their regular-season finale. They fell behind 25-4, trailed by as many as 36 points and were blown out 86-66 by the Minnesota Lynx in their worst performance of the season. Aliyah Boston exited early with a right knee injury, while Ty Harris suffered a left ankle injury. The Fever never led, suffered their largest loss of the season and saw Kelsey Mitchell’s streak of 27 consecutive games with at least 20 points come to an end. Caitlin Clark also endured the lowest-scoring game of her career, finishing with two points on 1-of-12 shooting. The loss drops Indiana to the No. 6 seed, setting up a first-round playoff matchup Sunday in Las Vegas — a rematch of their second-round series last postseason. ----- Follow Scott on Twitter and Instagram, and read his work on fieldhousefiles.com.
Recap: Caitlin Clark Leads Fever Past Lynx In Home Finale — Just One Game Left
2026/09/23
The Indiana Fever gave their fans plenty to enjoy on Fan Appreciation Night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, bouncing back from Sunday’s ugly loss to Washington with a 96-77 win over the Minnesota Lynx in their regular-season home finale Indiana raced out to a 31-16 lead after the first quarter, and Caitlin Clark led the way with 27 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and four steals. Kelsey Mitchell added 20 points and four assists, extending her streak of consecutive 20-point games to 27. Minnesota head coach Cheryl Reeve pulled her starters midway through the second quarter and limited them to roughly 13 minutes apiece, but the Fever still had to withstand a push. Indiana was outscored 30-14 in the third quarter, and the Lynx cut the lead to seven before the Fever regained control — important with playoff seeding still at stake for both teams. The Fever improve to 28-15 and will face Minnesota again Thursday in Game 44 before turning their attention to the playoffs. ----- Follow Scott on Twitter and Instagram, and read his work on fieldhousefiles.com.
Recap: Fever Shake Off Rust, Pull Away From Toronto Behind 33 from Mitchell, 28 & 14 from Clark
2026/09/19
The Indiana Fever returned from the World Cup break with a 103-85 win in Toronto, opening a four-game week that will close out the regular season. Indiana shot 59% from the field and built a 16-point first-half lead, but sloppy play through the middle two quarters — turnovers and giving up offense rebounds — allowed the undermanned Tempo to make it a game. The Fever responded by owning the fourth, outscoring Toronto 24-12 to secure win No. 27 of the season. Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 33 points and extended her WNBA-record streak to 25 consecutive games with at least 20. Caitlin Clark, fresh off winning World Cup gold with Team USA, added 28 points and 14 assists. Myisha Hines-Allen also provided an important lift off the bench, especially in the second half. Next up: the Fever return home to host the Washington Mystics on Sunday afternoon. ----- Follow Scott on Twitter and Instagram, and read his work on fieldhousefiles.com.
FIBA Women's World Cup Debrief - With French Journalist Eliott Caillot
2026/09/14
French journalist Eliott Caillot of Taille 6 joins me to look back at the FIBA Women’s World Cup after he covered the tournament in Berlin. We discuss the atmosphere surrounding the event, France’s dominant run to the championship game, Team USA winning gold for a fifth consecutive World Cup, and what stood out from Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston of the Indiana Fever. Caillot also brings a unique perspective after spending more than a year in Indianapolis covering the Fever and Pacers while attending Butler University, so we also talked about his experience in Indy and time at the school. Recap: Team USA Erases 14-Point Deficit, Beats France to Win Fifth Straight World Cup Gold Medal
2026/09/13
Team USA completed a huge comeback to beat France 97-79 in the FIBA Women’s World Cup championship game and claim its fifth consecutive gold medal. They fell behind by 14 in the first half after France used a 16-0 run, but they responded before halftime. Angel Reese forced a turnover that led to a Caitlin Clark 3-pointer at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 45-43. From there, Team USA took over. Recap: Team USA Survives Spain, Reaches World Cup Final — Offense Still Looks Disjointed
2026/09/12
Team USA is headed to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup championship game after beating Spain 76-66 in Saturday’s semifinal. They overcame another slow start and led by just three at halftime. Neither team shot 40% from the field, and Team USA went only 3 of 18 from 3-point range, but its defense and free-throw shooting carried the day. The Americans made 27 of 35 free throws and held Spain in check enough late to win by double digits. Breanna Stewart led the way with 16 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes. Aliyah Boston added six points and seven rebounds and played important minutes late, while Caitlin Clark was limited to one point and one assist in 17 minutes after leading Team USA in minutes in each of its previous games. Team USA finished with more turnovers (15) than assists (13) and still look disconnected offensively outside of a few strong stretches. But a win is a win, and Team USA will face France in the championship game at 2 p.m. ET Sunday. ----- Follow Scott on Twitter and Instagram, and read his work on fieldhousefiles.com.

2026/09/07
Team USA delivered the bounce-back performance it needed, routing Czechia 105-64 to finish FIBA Women’s World Cup Group Play 3-0. The USA women looked far sharper from the start, assisting on 10 of their 11 first-quarter field goals. By halftime, they had already scored more points than they did in the entire win over Italy — while committing just two turnovers. Yes, the level of opponent wasn't equal to Italy -- but USA's actions, ball movement, and efficiency was much improved. Six players scored in double figures, everyone played at least 14 minutes and all 12 players scored. Breanna Stewart was named Player of the Game after finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Caitlin Clark added nine points and a game-high seven assists. Recap: Team USA Survives Italy Scare, Clinches Quarterfinal Spot Despite Ugly Performance
2026/09/06
Team USA survived a major scare from Italy, escaping with a 55-52 win to clinch a spot in the FIBA Women’s World Cup quarterfinals in Berlin. Very little went right for the Americans. They blew a double-digit first-half lead, were outscored 16-11 in the second quarter and shot just 28.6% from the field — including 1 of 12 from 3-point range. Team USA also committed 14 turnovers against just 16 made field goals and missed too many chances around the rim. Italy played with urgency, confidence and nothing to lose, pushing the U.S. all the way to the finish. Jackie Young was the only American in double figures with 10 points, while Aliyah Boston added six points and three rebounds and helped close out the win. In my postgame recap, I break down what went wrong, why Italy caused so many problems and what Team USA needs to fix before the quarterfinals.
