So Much For Our Drama-free Day: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/10/16
There are certain things you never say in real life, things that could jinx an otherwise perfect day. Things like, "What could possibly go wrong?" or "Nothing could ruin this day." The same applies for soaps. Of course, on a soap opera you could also add something like, "There's no possible way that my ex-wife who was tragically killed in an elephant accident could ever come back from the dead and ruin our wedding day!" Okay, maybe I'm just being overly dramatic. But look at Anita and Vernon's meal at the country club. They just wanted a little quiet time together. Then Anastasia showed up with a request to break up Tyrell and Chessie, Smitty was arrested, and Martin's political career hung in the balance. Nicole just wanted to show up at the hospital for a normal work day, but her world was rocked by news that her ex-husband had gotten engaged. Hayley simply wanted a stiff drink so she could think about all the rich men she didn't murder, and a parade of people marched up to ruin her daydream. Those are some of things discussed this week in "So Much For Our Drama-free Day" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending October 9, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates.
When the Anger Feels Louder Than Love: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/10/09
Hate is a powerful emotion. It can bring out the absolute worst in us. Here's something that the people who write fairytale won't tell you: so can love. Hayley's love of material things has led her to a life of crime. Her love of money made her willing to take a life. Deanna's heart was broken when her father died. She loved him so much that she developed an anger toward her mother. Vernon loves his family so much that he's willing to do some things that might have seemed unthinkable just a few months ago. If all the t-shirts, yard signs, and social media posts are to be believed, love always wins. What all those things don't tell us is that sometimes it takes a little longer than we might like for love to come out on top. Those are some of things discussed this week in "When the Anger Feels Louder Than Love" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending October 9, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates.
Birds Of A Hateful Feather: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/10/02
What do you get when you cross two attempted murderers, a carjacking, a pair of sibling crime lords, and a town full of people seeking revenge? No, it's not the start of some really twisted riddle -- it's the past week on Beyond the Gates. Hayley was caught, but is it more of a catch and release situation? Will she really collect the money that Bill promised or will someone snuff out her torch before her big pay day? Will the staged carjacking backfire and result in Vanessa figuring out that Heather is the Impaler? If so, will the townspeople rise up and take her down, too? Is there a two-for-one deal on soap murders this November Sweeps? Those are some of things discussed this week in "Birds Of A Hateful Feather" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending October 2, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates.

From Hayley's slow-acting poison finally be revealed to a scary gunpoint showdown, find out why this may have been the soapiest week in Beyond the Gates history. Those are some of things discussed this week in "A Full Circle Moment" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending September 25, 2026. What’s In Your Search History?: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/09/18
If anyone were to see my Internet search history, I'd probably end up on some sort of list. There are a lot of weird things that need to be researched when you cover soaps. Untraceable poisons. The technical term for killing your sister. Is it legal to set up hidden cameras in your place of business? These are all legitimate topics that have come up on Beyond the Gates recently. And they've led to more questions. Does Bill know he is being poisoned? Will Joey really "stop" Heather? Does Kat have a thing for Izaiah? And why is Leslie the way she is? Those are some of things discussed this week in "What’s In Your Search History?" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending September 18, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates.
I Will Not Apologize For Having A Good Time: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/09/11
Soap operas and movies have a lot in common, but they also couldn't be more different. And while soaps don't have the huge budgets, that doesn't mean that they are not equally satisfying.Movies typically have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Soap stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end that can be retooled at any given point in time.Beyond the Gates has yet to revise its own history, but it likely that two of its biggest stories -- Heather's return to the DMV and Hayley's attempts to Kill Bill -- could come to an end before the end of the year. But how? And what will happen after those stories end? Those are some of things discussed this week in "I Will Not Apologize For Having A Good Time" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending September 11, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
We Will Get Our Happily Ever After: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/09/05
Boy meets girl. Life happens and boy and girl are pulled apart. Life continues to happen, but boy and girl are reunited and everyone lives happily ever after. That plot device might work in rom-coms and animated fairytales, but in the real world? Yeah, not so much. On the soaps? Definitely not. To be fair, even single folks on the soap rarely get a happy ending. And as story moves forward, it's becoming quite clear that a whole bunch of Fairmont Crest residents are about to see their lives go from fairytale to nightmare. Those are some of things discussed this week in "We Will Get Our Happily Ever After" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending September 4, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
Plans Can Change: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/08/28
Living life flying by the seat of your pants might seem exciting, but life tends to be a little easier when you have some sort of plan. Take Chelsea and Kat, for example. They’ve spent a great deal of time planning how to take their handbag line to the next level. What they didn’t expect was that a business partner could bring all those plans crashing down in minutes. Then there’s Hayley who has been planning her husband’s demise for months. A plan was in place: methodically dose Bill’s drinks with some mystery poison and wait for him to keel over. That plan wasn’t moving fast enough, so Hayley called and audible and started giving Bill poison every chance she got. You would think that Heather, the head of an international criminal enterprise, would plan every action out in advance. But her trip to the DMV has me thinking that she just makes things up on the fly. Blackmail, stalking, threats, annnnnnnd murder! Is keeping track of three different schemes too much for even a beautiful babe bitches be jealous of? Those are some of things discussed this week in "Plans Can Change" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending August 28, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
Make A Stupid Story Make Sense: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/08/21
Have you ever done something so ridiculously dumb that you wonder why you're allowed to mix and mingle with the rest of humanity? If it makes you feel better, I did something the other day that made me say to myself, "This is why you are not allowed to leave the house." Reality is often stranger than fiction, but that doesn't mean that fictional characters make any better decisions than the rest of us. Showing up to a random hotel room because someone from your past that you don't want anything to do with summons you. Sexing the woman who serves you alcohol at your favorite bar while your wife is at home recovering from a miscarriage. Having sexytimes with your husband when he's still confined to a hospital bed after having heart surgery. The hope is that we learn from our mistakes, but this being a soap... we can only hope. Those are some of things discussed this week in "Make A Stupid Story Make Sense" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending August 21, 2026. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
You’re My Kind of Toxic: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/08/14
Summer might be winding down, but things are heating up in and around Fairmont Crest. Dani Dupree is suddenly reclaiming the husband she once threatened to turn into a slice of Swiss cheese. We’ve learned the identity of the person texting taunting messages to Andre Richardson — though we still don’t know how they are connected. Heather Armstrong is suddenly trying to shoehorn her way into brother Joey’s life and he’s not at all happy about it. And then there’s Hayley Hamilton, desperately trying to grasp a $10 million brass ring from a husband that just refuses to die. Those are some of things discussed this week in "You’re My Kind of Toxic" the My View From Beyond the Gates podcast episode for the week ending August 14, 2026. Analysis Leads To Paralysis: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/08/07
It doesn't matter how long a soap character thinks about their decision before making it. The decision invariably creates problems. So why even bother thinking? Just let the drama flow! Need proof? Hayley insisted going to the Caribbean was the best way to get rid of her husband. He one-upped her by keeling over at the office. Andre decided to ignore his past, but his past showed up in town anyway. Vernon tried to turn the other cheek to Leslie, but she created a scene anyway. And those are just some of the bad decisions discussed this week on the podcast. The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
Don't Forget This Is A Team Effort: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/07/24
Where it's a scheme, a livestream, a wobbling waddle, or a mysterious Champagne bottle, no one goes through life alone. The question is, do we have the right people traveling with us? Bill Hamilton has clearly made some bad decisions and is being poisoned as a result. But like a Weeble, Bill has wobbled but not fallen down. Then there's that mysterious bottle of Champagne that Dani and Andre received. Who sent it? A former lover? Someone who poses a danger? All that, plus Ted and Shanice's non-excellent love adventure, the BRCA story in triplicate, and much more in this week's My View From Beyond the Gates podcast, a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
Whiplash and Déjà Vu: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/07/11
Time waits for no one -- even in Fairmont Crest. Last week may have been reruns, but this week life marched on with a botched proposal, the reveal of a monthslong secret, a not-so-secret spy mission, and the slowest acting poison might finally be working! The My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
The Other Residents of Fairmont Crest: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/07/03
Yes, Beyond the Gates was in reruns this week, but that show must go on. This week host Dan J Kroll sneaks into Fairmont Crest to look for some of the residents that we don't get to see on-screen. Surely they have stories to tell. This week, Dan's "nemesis" Richard Simms, the executive editor of Soaps.com and the former overseer of Soaps In Depth magazine drops in to talk about why he loves Beyond the Gates. Plus, there's some talk about what isn't quite working -- and one story twist that Richard thinks would make absolutely no sense. My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
This Is What Happens On A Soap Opera: My View From Beyond the Gates
2026/06/19
It’s not easy when our favorite character is going through some stuff. But it’s not personal — in fact, it’s probably just the opposite.  You never want to get to a point where your favorite character (or couple) is just background filler. Take Eva and her damaged-beyond-repair liver. There are some fans who insist the writers hate Eva. Why else would they do this to her? Others think it’s Kat that the writers hate because they are forcing her to potentially be a donor for a sister that she hates. To those viewers, I say: This is a soap opera. This is what happens on a soap opera! Soap operas are messy. Soap operas are twisted. They are about love and hate and jealousy and passion and all of the emotions in between. And, if I am being honest, they often make absolutely no sense. That’s why we watch. My View From Beyond the Gates podcast is a weekly commentary about the CBS soap opera Beyond the Gates. It is hosted by Soap Central founder Dan J Kroll.
