In this lesson, you'll learn the difference between: ✨ V(dictionary form)+ とき✨ V(た-form)+ とき The important point is not simply whether something is in the past. 👉 V(dictionary form)+ ときThe action is not finished yet. 👉 V(た-form)+ ときThe action is already finished. For example: 🍚 ご飯を食べるとき、「いただきます」と言います。➡️ We say “itadakimasu” before eating. 🍚 ご飯が終わったとき、「ごちそうさまでした」と言います。➡️ We say “gochisousama deshita” after finishing the meal. 🏠 家に帰ったとき、「ただいま」と言います。➡️ When I get home, I say “tadaima.” ✈️ 日本へ行ったとき、USJへ行きたいです。➡️ When I go to Japan, I want to go to USJ. 💡 POINT The た-form does not always mean past tense.
