The Amityville Horror: Six Murders, 28 Days, and the Legend That Followed
2026/10/27
Six members of the DeFeo family were murdered in their beds at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York, in November 1974. Thirteen months later, the Lutz family moved into that house, knowing what had happened there. They stayed 28 days.
On this episode of the Daily Scaries True Crime Podcast, Brian Scott and Jill Egan work through the police record, then the legend built on top of it. What Ronald DeFeo Jr. did on the night of November 13, 1974, why six people were found face down with no sign of a struggle, and how his account moved from a mob hit, to a confession, to a claim of voices in the house. Then the other half of the story: what George and Kathy Lutz said happened to them in those 28 days, and how a murder case became the most retold haunting in America.
Two questions hold the episode together. What actually happened inside that house — and did the Lutzes survive a haunting, or walk into a story they could not get out of? Both get worked, side by side, on the evidence.

Christa Pike Is Still Alive: History of Botched Executions
2026/10/13
Christa Pike is still alive after Tennessee's failed lethal injection on September 30, 2026. Brian Scott and Jill Egan break down what went wrong inside the death chamber and America's long history of botched executions.Tennessee attempted to execute Christa Pike for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer. Officials spent more than an hour trying to establish IV access, then administered two doses of pentobarbital. She was transported to a hospital where she remained unconscious for days. Her attorneys say she has now been discharged and returned to prison, with ongoing trauma and issues with concentration and memory. Governor Bill Lee has paused executions pending an independent review. Can Tennessee try again? In this Daily Scaries True Crime Podcast episode, we cover the Christa Pike execution timeline hour by hour, why Tennessee uses single-drug pentobarbital instead of the three-drug cocktail, why that older protocol collapsed, and what happens legally after a failed execution - competency, double jeopardy, and cruel and unusual punishment. We also cover historic failed executions including Willie Francis, Clayton Lockett, Romell Broom, Kenneth Smith, and the halted IV attempt for Tony Carruthers earlier this year.New episodes of the Daily Scaries True Crime Podcast every Tuesday. She Kept a Piece of Her Victim’s Skull: Christa Pike and the Murder of Colleen Slemmer
2026/09/22
At 18, Christa Pike became the youngest woman sentenced to death in America. 30 years later, she’s still Tennessee’s only woman on death row — and the state has set her execution for September 30, 2026.
In this episode of the Daily Scaries True Crime Podcast, Brian Scott and Jill Egan pull back the veil on a classic case that still shocks Knoxville to this day: the 1995 Job Corps murder of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer.
What really happened on that wooded hilltop off Moody Avenue? Why did a dispute over a boyfriend turn into a planned, brutal attack involving Christa, her 17-year-old boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp, and Shadolla Peterson? And what did investigators find in Christa’s pocket that became one of the most disturbing pieces of evidence in Tennessee history?
Brian and Jill walk through the timeline, the trial that led to a death sentence in 1996, the failed appeals, and the theories around motive, manipulation, and mental health that defense teams have argued for decades.
If the execution proceeds, Pike would be the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years.

She Predicted Her Own Murder -The Julie Jensen Case | Daily Scaries True Crime Podcast
2026/09/01
She predicted her own murder — and named her killer in a letter.
On December 3, 1998, Julie Jensen was found dead in her Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin home, poisoned by ethylene glycol. Antifreeze. In the months before her death, she had been quietly documenting her fear: emails to police, and a letter handed to a neighbor with one instruction — open it only if I die. In it, she named her husband, Mark.
In this episode, Brian Scott and Jill Egan pull back the veil on one of Wisconsin's most haunting murder cases: a marriage unraveling in silence, a murder weapon sold at any hardware store, and a letter the courts fought over for twenty-five years.
It took a decade for the first conviction, a Wisconsin Supreme Court reversal over the letter itself, and a second trial in 2023 to finally put Mark Jensen behind bars for life.
No witnesses. No confession. Just a woman who saw it coming — and made sure the truth would outlive her.

2026/08/18
Nolan Xavier Wells was 18 when he boarded a boat for Horn Island, Mississippi with friends and never came back. Seven people left the island. Only six returned.

Brian and Jill separate what's verified from what's spreading online, walk through the full timeline, and lay out the theories investigators are still chasing.

It took an America's Most Wanted tip — and a forensic sculptor's uncanny prediction of what List would look like nearly two decades later — to finally bring him to justice.
In this episode of Daily Scaries True Crime Podcast, Brian Scott and Jill Egan dig into the financial pressure and religious justification behind the murders, the meticulous planning that let List escape undetected, and the theories that still surround why he did it.
