Description

Should I Care? is a weekly online business and marketing podcast with Sophie Griffiths and Ruthie Walmsley, for ambitious women building businesses online around real, busy lives. Each week, Sophie and Ruthie take whatever everyone in online business is suddenly talking about, from launches and Instagram trends to offers, content, ads and audience growth, and ask the question you're probably already thinking: should I care? There's endless advice and not enough time to act on it, so they sort the genuinely useful from the noise, with honest conversations, strong opinions and the occasional eye-roll at the internet. It's not a tips podcast and it's not a masterclass. It's the real conversation behind the polished posts, for women who want the nuance, the context and the bit actually worth taking with them.

The Launch Diaries: Ep 3 - Full debrief! Pivoting mid-launch, price objections & the launch plan that got swapped
2026/10/13
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) are back with the final Launch Diaries, & we get into what happens when the launch plan meets real people, real feedback & real numbers, and whether changing it halfway through is the smart call or the flaky one (Plus a Gothenburg spa review first.) Most of us plan a launch like a straight line, & then someone says something in a DM, or the numbers land differently to how we pictured them, & we either dig in because we said we would or bin the lot. This is the final Launch Diaries, recorded with one of us mid-sprint & the other just out the other side of a 12-month programme launch, & neither plan looks quite like the one we started with. The numbers were good on both sides & we still managed to find plenty to wrestle with. In this episode: The 1 post that brought in 28 of Ruthie's 65 sign-ups, & why a storytelling post doing that surprised herThe price objections Ruthie never saw coming, from about 15 people who took the time to message, & the reply she wanted to send but didn'tThe comment from Sophie's husband that sent her to a café on a Monday morning to rewrite her sales pageProject 33: the extra 33K one mastermind client needed before the end of the year, & what it did to the way Sophie thinks about selling all the timeThe launch Sophie had planned for after the sprint, & the 2 reasons she's swapped it for something else New episodes every Tuesday. Follow Sophie: @sophiegriffithsco & Ruthie: @firstpersonnarrative When you're ready, here's the next step: Outrageous – for established women coaches and service providers who want one offer designed to hit 6 figures without them being the engine of every sale. Should I Care About... Paying To Speak On Stage, Buying Vs Borrowing An Audience & The Plan For A £500K Year?
2026/10/06
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into growing your audience, & why some ways of doing it get a round of applause while others get called a bit thirsty. On paper it's simple. You buy an audience, you borrow someone else's or you build your own. In real life most of us end up doing a little bit of everything & none of it particularly well, with half an eye on whether it'll look a bit desperate. Nobody expects to be paid for going on a podcast, so what about a workshop inside someone's membership, & are you allowed to pitch at the end of it? And with the backlash doing the rounds about people paying 25K to speak on a stage (we've only caught it second-hand, so this isn't a verdict on the event), is that really so different to paying for ads? Ruthie's launch closed the day before we recorded, Bloody Good Story Club doesn't open again until April & she needs more people in her world before then, even though a bigger audience scares her a bit (she still removes Instagram followers who don't look like her ideal client). Sophie has tried most of the options, paying to be on a stage included, & has opinions on which order to do them in. In this episode: The 6-month speaking mastermind Sophie joined to get herself on a stage & what she decided about stages afterwardsThe membership with 500 people in it, the guest workshop, & the 3 who turned up to the callThe 3 sets of people in the room at any event, the 2 when you run an ad, & Ruthie's take on which of them ends up losing outThe book Ruthie keeps thinking she should write, the stages Sophie still gets a pang about, & the question we both had to ask ourselves about whyThe £500,000 Sophie's business has made since the start of 2025, the goal she's set for next year, & the 1 thing she's adding to get there that isn't more ads or more launches New episodes every Tuesday. Follow Sophie: @sophiegriffithsco & Ruthie: @firstpersonnarrative When you're ready, here's the next step: Outrageous – for established women coaches and service providers who want one offer designed to hit 6 figures without them being the engine of every sale. The Launch Diaries: Ep 2 - The day after the workshop, mega launches & holding your nerve
2026/09/29
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) are back with the Launch Diaries, recorded the morning after we both ran our workshops, & we get into the hours straight after a launch event, when the numbers are perfectly good & your brain has decided otherwise. Because most of us know the standard show-up rates & conversion rates off by heart, we've walked clients through them a hundred times, & we'll still judge ourselves against a launch that made 250K in its first hour. Sophie had 226 sign-ups & a show-up rate below what she's used to. Ruthie had 64 sign-ups, all organic, far more than she'd hoped for, & within minutes had her phone calculator out working out what it would mean if every single one of them joined. So we talk about the gap between a launch that's realistic for the size of your audience & the ones filling everyone's feed, & why we're both posting through ours mid-wobble, without the neat bow at the end. Plus a quick debrief on our in-person day in Winchester (& a lake that was a lot colder than it looked). In this episode: The 90-minute offer Sophie sold inside her workshop, the 5 people who bought on the call, & the exact point after which nobody else didRuthie's 4 minutes of accidental recording, a Bubbles notetaker & the one name she didn't recognise in the waiting roomThe £60 a month maths Ruthie did on 64 people, & how one little thought rewrote every target she'd set herselfWhat Sophie didn't do this time that she always does to get people turning up live, & the show-up rate that came out of itThe 3 mega launches Sophie picked apart for her workshop, including a wait list of over 100,000, & what they all had that most of us don't New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... doing business 'wrong' if it doesn't feel easy all the time?
2026/09/22
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into the idea that if your business feels hard, you must be doing it wrong, & why we think it's one of the least helpful stories doing the rounds online. Somewhere between the laptop-by-the-pool content of a few years ago & the "I only work school hours & still make Pilates" version we're all being shown now, most of us picked up the belief that a business done right should feel easy. So when it feels heavy, or sticky, or just a lot, it's very tempting to decide something's broken & go looking for a different plan. Sophie is 9 years in, with ads, recurring revenue & support on the client side, & she's still building a brand new workshop & 5-day offer from scratch this autumn. Ruthie built a done-for-you business in the middle of lockdown & is now deep in the bit between that & a group programme that pays its way. Plus our Launch Diaries update: 70 sign-ups, about 35 sign-ups, & the Instagram posts neither of us can make ourselves write. In this episode: Sophie's "if a post doesn't feel good, it won't do well" theory, right 9 times out of 10, & what Ruthie thinks it's missingWhat changed at home last year so Sophie could keep her 7am gym class, & the pressure that came with itThe £14k done-for-you months Ruthie built in lockdown, & the day Tone came home & a slow career break turned into working till 8pmBloody Good Story Club at 11 members & £60 a month, & the maths that gets very sweary once you ask how many people it would needWhy low ticket offers are the hungriest of the lot, & the "which poison are we picking" question Sophie asks before anyone chooses a model New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... Overcomplicating My Launch, Flopped Promo Posts & Whether I Need A Tripwire?
2026/09/15
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into overcomplicating your launch, which is one of the easiest things in the world to do and pretty much always comes from the best of intentions. Because nobody sits down and decides to build a six-step funnel. It starts with one completely reasonable thought: maybe I'll add a workshop. Then a small paid offer to warm people up for the workshop. Then a wait list, then an early bird, then a fast-action bonus, and somewhere in there you're mapping a 12-email sequence for a thing nobody has bought yet, and you still haven't sold the offer you started with. Sophie is doing exactly that this autumn, a workshop into a mini offer into Outrageous, spread across two whole months, and she'll be the first to tell you most of her clients shouldn't copy her. Plus a launch diaries mini update from both of us: 44 sign-ups, 26 sign-ups, and the promo posts that landed with a thud in between. In this episode: The first promo post that got zero comments, & the email sent at exactly the same time that brought 25 sign-ups in an hourRuthie posting at half 10 at night while brushing her teeth, & the 26 people who signed up for a week she'd only decided on that afternoonWhy we can both tell you the exact stats on every post & neither of us has checked an email open rateThe tripwire maths nobody does: 10% of your sign-ups is 2.6 people, & what that means for the rules you're building your business onThe launch 5 years ago where the bonuses genuinely worked, brought loads of people in, & then left almost nothing behind New episodes every Tuesday. The Launch Diaries: Ep 1 - Launch planning, mindset wobbles & last minute pivots
2026/09/08
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) start the mini series: Launch Diaries. We're both meant to be launching this month and neither of us has arrived in September with the new-term energy we were promised (we're recording on what was supposed to be the first day back, which tells you most of it). Because there's a version of September where everyone comes back with a bang, and then there's the actual one, where you're staring at a launch you said you'd do, wondering whether you've got it in you. Ruthie has a wait list of 21 people she still hasn't opened the doors to, an audience she's convinced isn't big enough, and a course of Sophie's she bought to fix exactly that and never opened. Sophie worked 8 days across the whole summer, took on no new clients in July or August, and got the mindset gremlins right on cue anyway. Then, 2 weeks out, with the sign-up pages built and the feedback from her coaches already in, Sophie scrapped the whole thing and started again. In this episode: The 8 days Sophie worked across the whole summer, the revenue locked in & the mindset gremlins that turned up in September regardlessRuthie's wait list of 21 people she still hasn't opened the doors to, & the ads budget she earmarked & never spentThe workshop Sophie had already priced, built & written the sign-up pages for, & why she binned it 2 weeks before launchWhat she's running instead, & the name Ruthie gave 10 out of 10, no notes New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... My Group Programme Not Growing Fast Enough & the 3 Things You're Probably Missing?
2026/09/01
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into the question Ruthie brought straight off the back of her own launch plans, fresh from a holiday neither of us has quite come back from: should I care that my group programme isn't growing as fast as I want? Because most of us build the thing in a burst of excitement, get it open, get the proof of concept, get the lovely testimonials, and then land somewhere much quieter. It's working. People love it. It's just not moving. And then September arrives and everyone decides this is the month to fix it. Sophie ran her first group programme for 9 months before she sat down and did the maths on it. Ruthie says out loud the thing most of us do very quietly, which is bottle it on the price, and then bottle it again. In this episode: The group programme Sophie ran for 9 months before working out she needed 40 people in it, and how many were actually in thereRuthie doing the numbers, landing on a price, and then dropping it twice before she launchedThe 3 pillars Sophie takes every client through when a group offer stalls, and the one they all tell her to leave aloneBuy, build or borrow, and why sitting on just one of the three keeps you bobbing around the same number foreverThe midnight spiral with Claude that becomes "I think I need to add one-to-ones", and the question Sophie asks instead New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... September Launches, What's Actually Working In 2026 & The One Thing Every Good Launch Has In Common?
2026/08/25
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into September launches, & what's actually working in 2026. September is typically go time for courses & service offer launches. It's the last chance for 12 week courses to get done before the end of the year and even the most seasoned evergreen fans can strt to doubt whether they should be gearing up for right now. Except Sophie's worst launch ever was a September one & she's doing it differently this year. The question we keep circling is the one you're probably sitting with too: does it still have to be the big masterclass-then-open-cart formula, or has that stopped working? Ruthie's about to attempt her first proper launch & is talking herself out of it in real time, convinced her audience isn't big enough & nobody will turn up. Sophie's done years of them & keeps landing on the same thing: the launches that worked best were the ones she barely counted as launches, & they all shared one thing. In this episode: The September launch Sophie swears she'll never do again: a 3-day event that went well on paper, & the client feedback that explained why it floppedRuthie's launch wobble in real time: 11 in the room, wanting 25, & the story about her audience she can't stop telling herselfThe "launch" Sophie wasn't even trying to run that out-earned every launch she actually planned, & the thing it had that the planned ones didn'tThe £97 membership with 13 people signed up before the workshop had even finished, & the "launch PTSD" sitting behind itWhy you have to talk about it far longer than feels sane, & the DM that proves it New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... AI Stealing My Clients, Sounding Like Everyone Else & Agents That Waste My Time?
2026/08/18
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into AI, & whether it's coming for our jobs. It kicked off with Ruthie: a client sent her copy back saying it sounded too much like AI, & it wasn't AI, she'd written every word herself. But the more we talked, the more it turned into something every coach & service provider is living right now. Because your clients are using it too…they're having a chat with Claude at midnight & turning up with a seven-page strategy, submitting work that's clearly landed straight out of AI with nothing of them left in it, & half-wondering if they still need you at all. We get into what's actually being devalued here & what genuinely isn't, & the odd new pressure to prove the human bit is still worth paying for. Plus the AI agents we've both built to buy back a few hours, & the ones that ate the whole evening instead. In this episode: The client who turned up with a 7-page strategy from Claude, & why the honest fix was simpler than everything the AI suggestedGetting sent work that's clearly straight out of AI with no checks on it, & what it quietly does to the person having to review itThe accountability coach Sophie built in Claude that got shirty with her for disappearing, & the one thing it could never get its head roundAn entire evening lost to sorting 150 client screenshots with AI, & what she had to admit by the end of itThe discovery-call question Sophie asks out loud now that she'd have been mortified to ask 18 months ago New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... Jumping On Viral Instagram Trends?
2026/08/11
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into whether you should bother jumping on viral Instagram trends, & the snobbery quietly building around them. Sophie's had a summer with next to no capacity, so she's leaned on trends to stay visible, & then sat on one post for 2 days because a corner of Instagram has decided trends are a bit beneath us all. So we get into whether jumping on a trend is ever actually worth it, or whether it's a fast track to the wrong followers & a feed full of noise. Ruthie coaches this for a living, & she's got a two-question test she runs before touching any trend that has nothing to do with going viral. Plus why your audience isn't seeing what you're seeing, & what that means for what's actually safe to post. In this episode: The 2 questions Ruthie runs before jumping on any trend (neither is "will it go viral")The hula-hoop video that went viral & why it was one of the worst things to happen to that accountWhat butter yellow & the "kinda chic" trend are really doing under the funWhy the same trend clogging your feed hasn't reached your clients onceThe summer content that quietly works, & when lighter is exactly right New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... Why Comparison Gets So Much Worse in Summer
2026/08/04
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) go properly deep on the comparison trap, & why it gets so much louder in the summer. Sophie deletes Instagram the second she goes on holiday, because a sun lounger plus a scroll turns into "should I be running a birthday sale, should I have an ads funnel making me £1,000 a day while I'm away", & the spiral is easier to remove than to manage. What we get into is that we're never comparing like for like. We're holding our full messy reality up against someone else's highlight, & the thing that stings tells you what you actually want. For Sophie it's money & financial security. For Ruthie it's time, & the people who seem to take the whole summer off with ease. Same trap, completely different wound, & knowing which one is yours changes what you do with it. In this episode: Why the comparison spikes in summer, & the difference between being triggered by money & being triggered by timeThe "proof it's possible" reframe (via Lucy Sheridan) for the accounts that wind you upWhy the thing that triggers you is usually pointing at what you actually wantHow the goalposts moving, someone you look up to stepping back, quietly makes you doubt your own goalsRe-curating a feed that's slowly stopped serving you, & why nobody tells the hard story until it's safely behind them New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About...Everyone Saying Courses Are Dead, Community Replacing Everything & Whether My Offer Suite Actually Works?
2026/07/28
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into the question doing the rounds at the minute: are courses dead? Is everyone meant to have a community now? Is passive income over? We've both been here long enough to have watched the pendulum swing all the way one way & start coming back, so we dig into what's actually shifted & what hasn't. The thread running through all of it is that the transformation is the thing that matters, & everything else can flex around it. Sophie's sold the same course 5 different ways at 5 different price points. The gate everyone used to pay to get through is open now, so what people are actually buying is your perspective, & that changes what a course, a community & an offer suite need to do. In this episode: Why the more specific the problem you solve, the easier the thing is to sell, & why the does-it-all membership has quietly stopped workingThe Superfan Sprint reframe: one transformation, 5 delivery models, & how to flex the format without touching what people actually came forWhy "you'll get a community of amazing women" sells nothing, & what a community has to do to earn its place on the sales pageThe rose, bud, thorn system that keeps a group actually talking, & why nobody fills in a wins post unless you build it in from day oneWhy the DIY downsell off the back of your big program almost never sells, & what to build instead New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... The Red Flags That Make Me Follow, Unfollow Or Buy?
2026/07/21
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into red flags! Our own red flags when buying, the ones that set us on edge with a new client and whether what we’re doing is actually red flag behaviour…! In this episode: The qualifying questions to ask before anyone books a call, & how to tell a useful one from a question that just sounds goodThe alternatives to a discovery call for people who find them excruciatingWhy putting the price on the page is not a pricing decision, & what people assume when it isn't thereThe 2 different types of red flag client, & why telling them apart changes what you do about itHow to design an offer for people who learn completely differently, & the expectation to set at the start so nobody feels short-changed New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care About... Low Engagement, The Freeze Before A Launch & Posting Through Summer?
2026/07/14
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) get into why your content isn't getting the engagement it used to... And what you can do about it. We pull apart what low engagement is actually telling you, & what it definitely isn't. The invisible actions nobody counts. The accounts with brilliant engagement & no clients. Oh and the client who let go of her numbers entirely & signed 3 high-ticket clients in 2 months, none of whom ever engaged with a single post. And underneath all of it, the question Ruthie asks first every time, & the one nobody wants: is your content just a bit boring?! Plus what to actually do with the summer..keep posting through the low engagement, batch it up and ignore it for the summer... Or something else? In this episode: Ruthie's fix for the freeze state, which takes about 10 minutes & involves making nothing newThe 3 things Ruthie looks at when content isn't landing, starting with the least popular question of all: is this actually interesting? Why the same post lands or dies depending on whether you tell it in first person, & what to swapThe far more useful signals sitting in your business that nobody counts, & what to look at instead of your likesWhat to actually do with summer, & why scheduling 6 weeks of content is a recipe for disaster New episodes every Tuesday. Should I Care... That I Want Better Boundaries But Keep Self-Sabotaging?
2026/07/07
This week on Should I Care? we (Sophie Griffiths & Ruthie Walmsley) start with the children's social media ban that's all over the news, & end up somewhere we didn't plan to: the boundaries we swear we want & then break by teatime. Because here's the uncomfortable bit..we know boundaries are good for us. We've read the books, done the therapy, we can recite the theory back to you word for word. & we still take the phone to the sofa, still answer the DM at bedtime, still miss the 4:30 finish we set that same morning. Wanting the boundary was never the problem but holding it is. The social media ban for under 16’s cracked it open, because the sneaky thing about any rule someone else sets is the little flicker of relief underneath it. Someone else holds the line, so we don't have to decide, negotiate or feel guilty about it. & once we clocked that in relation to our kids, we couldn't stop seeing it everywhere: the 4:30 finish that never happens, the work that follows us into bedtime, the offers we over-stuff & then can't scale, the invisible deadlines nobody set but us. Plus a report back from last week on using AI to carry some of the mental load: LEGOLAND intel, a fully themed birthday party sorted from one voice memo, & the calendar app Ruthie is vibe coding so she never has to be the family PA again. In this episode: The relief sitting inside the Social Media ban for our kids & the our version of it from COVID Why Sophie has a therapist who specialises in boundaries & the thread that ends at "if I drop a ball, I'm unlovable"Ruthie's real-time Tuesday dilemma: football with her son, or the work she's convinced can't wait (even though nobody actually asked for it today)The "I can't" to "I don't" swap that changes everything, & the "I have to" to "I get to" reframe sitting right next to itOver-delivering yourself into a corner: the beta trap, the pricing that punishes you, & why piling on more bonuses isn't the fix New episodes every Tuesday.
