Here are some highlights: --Republican Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has halted executions through the rest of the year after officials failed to successfully administer two separate doses of the lethal injection to Christa Gail Pike. --An Indian airline captain, who was at the controls of his airliner, was stabbed by his co-pilot in an apparent attempt to crash the plane. Although he was seriously injured, he still managed to open the cockpit door allowing passengers to enter and restrain the attacking co-pilot as the Boeing 737 was descending sharply. The flight was carrying people from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Tel Aviv, Israel. --A dual Iranian/British citizen was arrested by counter-terrorism police in Britain in the wake of an allegedly foiled plot to attack a U.S. air base on British soil last weekend. --Iranian officials and state media said that the U.S. had responded to Tehran's recent proposal for a 7 day cease-fire and the phased re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz with a counter proposal that the government is now considering. --The oil is flowing in the Persian Gulf even as Iran is choking on fumes. Oil exports from the region have rebounded to 72% of pre-war levels and crude flow through the Strait of Hormuz is a little under half of what it was before the war, according to analysts. --The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran will not back down on the terms of a 7 day cease-fire, "even if it comes to a doomsday war."

In this multi-part series, we journey through Volume II of Jonathan Edwards's Works to explore how one of history's keenest theological minds wielded both the thunder of divine judgment and the blinding beauty of sovereign grace. From the terrifying, Old Testament-anchored metaphors of Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God and Sinners in Zion Tenderly Warned, to the surgical dissection of the self-deceived heart in Hypocrites Deficient in Prayer, Edwards deployed the stark reality of hell not to terrorize for terror's sake, but as a diagnostic hammer to shatter carnal security, strip away false hopes, and drive awakened souls into the means of grace. Yet, as we trace his deep psychological insights through the lens of human inability, duty, and the urgency of seeking, we discover that this dark backdrop of divine justice was intentionally crafted to illuminate its true counterweight: the breathtaking "conjunction of diverse excellencies" in Jesus Christ, whose infinite majesty, tender meekness, and irresistible sweetness offer the only true refuge for a desperate world.
