Rosette Sings, At Calvary

"Life Under The Sun"

Our imaginations can be quite vivid. It is important to seek to have the facts before drawing a conclusion. The nation of Israel faced a real test of character in our text. The good news is that they allowed God to direct them in the resolution to the challenge.

The religious health of the nation of Israel was in bad shape during the life of Christ on the earth. He taught the truth. He exposed the lies of the false teachers. However, the people loved the false teachers more than God. Now the false teachers were at the place where they wanted to kill Jesus. However, they feared the people. They needed to figure out how to kill Jesus and still keep the people on their side.

Jesus tells of a great supper whose invited guests put land, work, and home ahead of the host's call. Luke 14:15-24 exposes the danger of answering God's gracious invitation with ordinary excuses, even when those answers sound polite and reasonable. The prepared supper points us toward the generosity of grace, while the widening invitation reminds us that need and shame do not place a sinner beyond the Saviour's welcome. The message calls us to trust Christ now and carry the gospel earnestly to others. Scripture References: Luke 14:15-24 Ephesians 2:8-9

Jesus told the disciples that at the end of times there will be signs in the sky. There will be an intensifying of the groaning of the earth and all of creation. One day the Son of Man will come and deliver the creation from the curse.
