26-10-18 Value of Higher Education in Ministry
2026/10/18
Value of Higher Education in Ministry Faith Debate: Sunday, October 18th, 2026 (10/25/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) This discourse centers around the question, "Must a pastor be seminary trained?" The participants articulate a spectrum of perspectives, acknowledging both the merits and pitfalls associated with formal theological education. The panelists suggest that seminary training can equip individuals with vital knowledge and skills, but debate if it's a requirement for pastoral ministry. The speakers emphasize the paramount importance of character and spiritual maturity over academic credentials, suggesting that effective leadership stems from one's relationship with Scripture and the community rather than solely from formal education. And what about the view that says seminary training might enhance a pastor's capabilities, but head knowledge means little for effective ministry compared to a man's character and commitment to biblical teachings? Raising Godly Children
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the mutual obligations of children and parents as outlined in Ephesians 6, emphasizing that obedience to parents is ultimately an act of submission to Christ. The central message highlights that true obedience goes beyond external compliance to include heartfelt honor, reflecting the example of Jesus during His earthly upbringing. For parents, the text calls for diligent instruction and discipline that is tempered with love, avoiding both harshness and neglect. The goal of this godly discipline is not merely behavioral correction but the spiritual formation of children to share in God's holiness. By integrating Scripture into daily family life, parents fulfill their role as spiritual leaders who guide their households toward Christ.
The Qualifications for Elders, Part 3
2026/10/18
An exposition of 1 Timothy 3:4–7 examining three of the apostolic qualifications for elders in the local church: domestic faithfulness, experience in the faith, and a credible testimony among outsiders. The sermon works through Paul's logic that a man who cannot govern his own household is unfit to oversee the household of God, and considers the dangers of placing a novice in office. Main points: - the man's domestic faithfulness (vv. 4–5) - the man's experience in the faith (v. 6) - the man's testimony toward outsiders (v. 7) Scripture references: - 1 Timothy 3:1–7 Free Grace Baptist Church — https://www.freegrace.ca Full transcript & sermon notes: https://sermons.freegrace.ca/sermons/sermon-1-timothy-3-the-qualifications-for-elders-part-3 Description generated by Tyrannus.ai: https://www.tyrannus.ai

Holding Fast the Word
2026/10/18
The sermon examines the qualifications for church leadership outlined in Titus, emphasizing that spiritual worth is determined by faithfulness rather than worldly success or popularity. It highlights the necessity of holding fast to the faithful word of God, warning against false teachers who subvert households for financial gain or to satisfy itching ears. The message urges believers to test all teachings against Scripture, rejecting traditions and extra-biblical claims that do not align with the Bible. Central to the discourse is the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ alone, contrasting the narrow path of grace with the broad road of works. The tone is both convicting and pastoral, calling the congregation to remain grounded in sound doctrine and to trust in the finished work of Christ for their eternal security.
Who May Dwell On Your Holy Mountain?
2026/10/18
The sermon examines Psalm 15 as a divine answer to the question of who is qualified to dwell in God's presence, contrasting the universal human corruption described in Psalm 14 with the perfect character of Jesus Christ. It argues that Christ is the only individual who fulfills every requirement of the psalm, serving as the spotless Lamb who bore the sins of humanity to open access to God's holy mountain. Through His sacrificial death, believers are brought into God's household not by their own merit but by grace, receiving a new standing before the Father. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit progressively conforms believers to the image of Christ, transforming their character to reflect the righteousness described in the text. Ultimately, the sermon assures believers of their eternal security, declaring that those who are in Christ will never be shaken because their standing rests on His unchanging faithfulness.

Php 4:21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you. Php 4:22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar's household. Php 4:23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

I Will Sing of Mercy and Judgment
2026/10/18
The sermon explores Psalm 101 as a declaration of personal commitment to live in obedience and purity before God, framing the psalm's 'I will' and 'I will not' statements as a call to holy conduct in daily life. It emphasizes that true worship involves aligning one's heart and actions with God's character, rejecting wickedness, gossip, and deceit while embracing mercy and justice. The message connects David's royal responsibilities to the believer's duty to steward their household and influence, urging a deliberate separation from sin and a close fellowship with those who fear the Lord. Through illustrations of discipline, temptation, and the consequences of compromise, the text argues that a life of integrity is not accidental but requires constant vigilance and reliance on God's grace. Ultimately, the sermon points to Christ as the perfect example of obedience who fulfills the law on behalf of believers, offering hope and motivation for a life set apart for God's glory.

01 Introduction & Background
2026/10/18
This sermon examines the founding of the church in Philippi as recorded in Acts 16, highlighting the conversion of Lydia, the demon-possessed slave girl, and the Philippian jailer. It emphasizes that salvation is a gift of grace received through faith, illustrated by the immediate water baptism that follows belief for each convert. The narrative contrasts the jailer's despair with Paul and Silas's praise in prison, demonstrating that Christian joy is authentic and independent of external circumstances. This testimony of suffering and rejoicing serves as a powerful witness, leading the jailer to ask how to be saved and resulting in the salvation of his entire household. The passage establishes the theological foundation for the later letter to the Philippians, where the theme of rejoicing in the Lord despite hardship is central.
A Definitive Case for Immersion and Union with Christ
2026/10/14
This sermon presents a theological and linguistic defense for believer's baptism by immersion, arguing that the Greek term *baptizo* specifically denotes submersion rather than sprinkling or pouring. The teaching examines New Testament narratives, such as the baptisms of Jesus and the Ethiopian eunuch, to demonstrate that the physical act of going under and coming up out of the water aligns with the spiritual reality of being buried with Christ and raised to new life. By addressing common objections regarding the feasibility of mass baptism, household conversions, and covenantal signs, the message asserts that baptism is an active declaration of personal faith rather than a passive ritual for infants. The central intent is to encourage believers to obey the clear biblical pattern, viewing immersion as the definitive outward sign of their union with Christ in his death, burial, and resurrection.
A Man of Prayer
2026/10/13
This sermon examines the life of Cornelius in Acts 10 as a model for a consistent and devoted prayer life. It highlights how Cornelius, despite his busy role as a centurion, maintained a habit of praying to God always, demonstrating perseverance and priority in his spiritual discipline. The message emphasizes the confidence believers can have that their prayers are remembered by God as a memorial, citing the angel's assurance to Cornelius and the example of Zechariah. Furthermore, it explores the content of Cornelius's prayers, which focused on his household and others, leading to the gathering of his family to hear the gospel. The sermon concludes by encouraging the audience to pray for the salvation of their households and for the Holy Spirit to work during gospel missions, fulfilling the promise that 'thou and all thy house shall be saved.'
26-10-11 Meet Jesus Christ
2026/10/11
Meet Jesus Christ Faith Debate: Sunday, October 11th, 2026 (10/18/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) A man says he met a woman named Christina in 2023 while he was sitting on a front porch swing. She walked across the lawn carrying an iPad, like many salespeople do. The young lady sat in front of this man and his wife and began speaking about history, the Bible, and the church. Then she added that she knew the man was born with water on the brain, which is true. This seemed very supernatural, and so tears filled the couple's eyes as they contemplated what they were experiencing. This angelic-type presence didn't say how she knew the medical information; she simply looked up at the sky and smiled, telling the man three times, "You don't get it". Then she turned, and using her iPad brought a cool breeze from the north that moved through the treetops in a rotation specifically around the house and its street. Finally, she looked the man in the eyes and told him that she was sent by God with a message: "You've been kept alive to protect innocent people from evil". What should a Christian think about such a happening? Some quickly dismiss it as a lie. But if the story is real, and not a fabrication, what then? The panel continues to consider all of this in part 4 of a 4 of a unique series. Find The Faith Debate at wfmd.com, ChristianPodcastCommunity.org, & podcast platforms like SermonAudio & Odysee.
